Round One: Sakamoto vs. Orochiyaru I0Z7lKB

An arena covered wall to wall in tall grass, seven feet high. As contestants enter, they will immediately notice their vision is impaired by the thick reeds of grass, however, there is something more at work. Combatants cannot see more than 1m around themselves with vision alone, heavily obscuring one another from view, but any movement in this grassy arena causes extremely loud rustling as the grass is pushed to and fro, allowing shinobi to pinpoint one another through sound. Whenever a shinobi moves in this arena, the direction they are in relative to their opponent is immediately revealed.

'It all begins.‘

When Sakamoto had heard of the chance to be a part of the prodigious Chunin ex, he calmly expected that he would be nominated for the chance. Sakamoto was a confident creature to say the least, bordering the egotistical. Although he was often kept separated from other Genin for the most part due to his... stature. This was a chance to experience first hand the fruits of the trainings from other ninja in the ninja world, and gauge his progress. The only ninja Sakamoto had ever done battle with was a special Jonin that had already been grievously wounded by an explosion... meaning little in the grand scheme of things. This however would be different... it would be difficult if not impossible in some cases in order to set up elaborate traps for these ninja before they were able to to battle. Sakamoto didn't have days or weeks to prepare for each enemy in these exams, he would have to bring his best, to think around each situation, to analyze each opponent, find their strengths, their weaknesses and exploit them.

Based on the prior Chunin exams, it seemed that the arenas themselves played a big part in what they each needed to overcome. That was good, Sakamoto had gotten used to using his environment as an advantage due to his small size. Coupled with being on his home turf, he could not have asked for a better arena. As the feline stepped out of the gates, he would look into the dry garden arena that had been prepared for him, and his eyes would almost glisten with the possibilities. Without his opponent to be able to see exactly what he or she was dealing with from the beginning, Sakamoto was at a major initial advantage which he would surely doubt his opponent would have a similar answer to. Stepping into the arena, the feline would notice immediately that his vision had been obscured, though the dry rustling of the leaves that surrounded him would chatter as he pressed his way into the dense brush. Giving away the intended disadvantage of this arena. Clever...

'I'm not able to move quickly through this grass, or else i'll be giving away my position... my opponent doesn't know about me, which is good, though i don't know about them. We're only able to hear one another, so, it would make sense that much of this match will be based off our hearing. I could likely cut a lot of the grass down. Though that would be a waste of chakra. The grass isn't the problem however, my opponent is... Unless I'm mistaken, they will be playing this battle very, very carefully... They'd be foolish not to.'

Vision was such a necessary element of being a ninja, though so was using the lack of it to your advantage. There were many traps and hidden sink falls in the strategies that would prevail here, many of them were double edged swords. If he made a beeline for his opponent as soon as they entered, he ran the risk of running head-first into a wide angle jutsu that would almost be impossible to avoid, especially if his opponent were a suiton user. So, Sakamoto would prepare as best as he could, tapping his paws to the backs of each of his paws as well as clapping his paws together to have paw-print seals available and at the ready, as well as planting an additional one upon his crimson neck-scarf for the mean time.

The small ebony shadow of the hidden leave would look out into the grasslands with amber eyes. Were this an open arena, he had wanted to play coy as a feline and not reveal his identity to his opponent as a ninja... but this was different, for now, he'd stay still. Still enough to not attract the attention of the ninja who would no doubt be attempting to hunt him down... As his opponent could be heard entering the arena, Sakamoto would crouch low in what little rut he had already created for himself, his keen catlike ears attempting to draw out every little sound from the arena. Surely there was another ninja out there, waters needed to be tested, they needed to gauge the strengths of one another before combat could truly begin...

And Sakamoto had finally developed a strategy.

Orochiyaru was dozing on the bench in the waiting cabin. While many of the other contestants had been busy exchanging strategies, one by one each of them seemed to slowly disappear as their names had been called to various different combat stages, when Yaru finally awoke she could already see her own name on the list and the stadium she was supposed to be at in… ten minutes. Fuck fuck fuck. Yaru desperately ran up to some random Konoha dude and basically screamed at him where the heck that stadium is supposed to be. Lucky her, it was one of the closer ones right nearby. She was wondering how long that line up and info had been up there. Probably for hours. She must have had a reeeally good nap back there. When the busty snake charmer entered the fighters lobby the timer was already down to about one minute. She almost punched the guy in the nose that started to try and lecture her over coming late for an official match. Eventually she made it in time to step her foot past the entrance gate just about as the timer went down to zero. Yaru was in a shitty mood. She was out of breath from speeding over and sweat was running down her skin. It did good things to her attractiveness but apparently from all the arena she could have picked up from she of course ended up with the one no one could even see her. Rest in piece using seduction on this one.

Yaru signed. The new timer for the match to begin was counting down. She couldn’t even see the referee if there even was one. From her point of perspective, she could glare up and potentially see some of the viewers barely to the very tips of the high grass. She moved in place. The cheering stopped. The arena was told to quiet down and be calm. Silence would overcome the area. Gentle brushes of wind would blow through the tall grass. She would take some deep breath. This was already turning out to be way more of a drag than she had bargained for. But the soft wind would cool her down. Once the match started. She’d close her eyes. Sharpen her eyes. Every motion in the grass could be heard. The soft wind gave away a melancholic, relaxing feeling while it kept brushing into the grass. Keeping most of it gently swaying. She had to memorize the sounds. To hear the difference between the movements of wind and movements of bodies within the grass. The timer went down to zero. The signal had been given. The match had started. But Yaru didn’t move. She was certain her opponent would most likely not be willing to give themselves away right from the start either. But Yaru had an idea. Quickly she pushed her palm into her cleavage. If any of the viewers could have seen her this would have been an awkward moment.

She eventually found what she was looking for. Pulling a very tiny snake from her bust she had a firm grip on its head as if she was choking him. Yaru would move her tongue in snake speech. What was little more than a soft ‘ZzzzzZzzzz’ to anyone within very close proximity. Was a clear command from the snake charmer to its little poor pawn. Yaru dropped the little beast to the floor. Orochimayu was generally a rather useless being. The lack of training had left the little creature weak and it spent most of its time being lazy in Yaru’s cleavage. Now that it actually had an assignment. The snake was slowly slithering its way towards the clear opposite direction from where Yaru had entered previously. It had a simple task. Search, find, bite. While Mayu was certainly neither a master of stealth, nor deeply intelligent to begin with. Its young snake eyes were very much able to spy or feel a nearby enemy if she ended up getting close. Mayu was small enough to slither in between certain grass roots and only trigger the noise of its eminent approach every few grass strains. This way whomever was awaiting Yaru’s presence would end up being heavily confused over how their enemy was able to even avoid triggering close grass strands. Unknown to them that not Yaru herself but her tiny little turd of a pet was approaching them. But Mayu was still uncareful, occasionally it’s slithery tail would brush against a grass strand and immediately inform both, Yaru and Sakamoto, where the snake was.

And with the feintest of rustles, far lighter than one would make as a regular human would, would begin to move through the grass, occasionally striking larger reeds as the snake sleuthed through the battlefield. Sakamoto has a position now, at least an origin point. It took a little amount of brain work to figure that it wasn't a human moving through the bushes, though something was moving through it to be sure. Sakamoto kept a mental map of the arena, looking at the tall crowd barriers that surrounded it as a dimension, then thinking about the origin of the disturbance in the grass, without a larger disturbance, he could figure that whomever was there, probably had not moved. But had sent some form of mobile force, likely some form of subtle doton jutsu through the ground in an effort to seek out the feline where it lay. Either way, a move had been made, and with that, the dastardly cat had a plan set in motion. Taking in a deep breath, he would let out a seductive, almost feminine meow, low and ethereal across the rolling aromatic grassland.

The meow would echo off the silent walls, almost ricocheting around the arena to mask its origin point, though it would be no secret as 10 jet black felines would surround Sakamoto within a 2m radii. Each of them perfect replicas save for the rainbow colored scarfs that were hung around their necks. Yellow, Pink, Green, Purple, Orange, Blue, Grey, White, Black and one that seemed to be a tie died combination of all of them in a polka dotted pattern a backwards baseball cap and sunglasses. Sakamoto almost mentally cursed as he could never quite get the last one to have a normal looking appearance congruent with his own. Normally, he would simply dismiss the last one, but, in light if the more serious circumstance, he was going to need every one of the doppelgangers he had amassed in the following assault. Without a word or command, they would spread to the corners of the arena, fanning out as Sakamto's opponent would suddenly hear an explosion of movement coming from almost every direction from that side of the arena.

Yellow and Orange would begin running as fast as they could around opposite sides of the grasslands while Purple and Pink made their way 6m apart from one another in a zig-zag pattern towards the snake. Each of the other six would fan out in equal distances away from one another, no greater than 10m apart as they would each curve their way inward for the location of the origin of the snakes movement into the grass. From Sakamoto's left to right they'd be Tie-Dye, Blue, Green, Black, White and Grey to Sakamoto's right most as they would make their charge at a paced run. While they weren't terribly quick compared to Sakamoto, they each could still keep up with even well trained Genin, each with D-0 speed perception and reaction time and E-2 strength / E-1 endurance... Yet it wasn't just their movement that was an attempt to confuse and overwhelm the senses of his opponent as the fan of leaping opponents mirroring human running footsteps in 1m wide zig-zags would move closer with each of their 2m bounds. Each time the cats would come into contact with the ground, they would leave a black pawprint mark in their wake, spreading the would-be minefield of potential attack sources across the battlefield.

Controlling them all like a puppeteer on strings, Sakamoto, with his eyes closed would continue to update the mental map he had been forging in his mid as they would continue to spread outwards, hopefully closing in on their targets as they did so. Field control was the feline's intent. And with this, he would effectively have a checkerboard at least eighty meters wide with 2m wide squares to work within... With his opponent blind to his actions, Sakamoto would almost assume that the feat would go largely uncontested too, which made it all the sweeter. Unless of course they would panic and begin to fire jutsu deep into the grassy reeds. This arena would belong to Sakamoto... one way or another.

Should the Pink and Purple duplicat come into contact with the snake unaccosted by its owner, they'd beset upon it with splayed claws. Using tactics similar to that Panthers would use to bring down Anaconda, each of them would flank its sides with the express intent of knowing that it would have to face one of them before moving in simultanously from either side. Pink to its right and Purple to its left. As soon as it might turn to expose a flank, the other would take the opportunity to move in quickly from behind. The two of them edging forward until one of them would make a lunge for the poor miniature snake's neck. Should it turn to lunge with its lightning quick reflexes at its attacker, the other cat's partner would be there to strike once again for the exposed nape. Teeth agape and claws at the ready to slice and kick into the belly of the creature with all the feral ferocity of a wild beast, ensuring to place at least one pawprint seal on the creature in case it managed to slither away before being brought to its knees. Instincts abound as the two would hope to make a quick meal out of the garden viper with their superior speed and reflexes combined with their position at the top of the animal food-chain...

'The ninja training wouldn't hurt either.'

Sakamoto had intended the two felines to be sacrificial lambs to whatever jutsu his mysterious opponent had sent in that direction, though locating a pet that he was capable of eliminating was something excellent in of itself. The other cats however, as they charged down their target would be on guard. Should their opponent make a sudden move in their direction, or should a sound disturbance from the reeds rush their way, they would be prepared to dive at a moments notice. Sakamoto wanted them to attack in a group, so, kiting the opponent into being surrounded was paramount for the kitty. Should any of the Duplicats meet the human genin they had hoped to tango with, they would attempt to avoid him or her for the crucial few moments it would take for the group to close in.

Through all this, Sakamoto wouldn't stay still, instead he would move in the slick-stream of White, keeping pace directly behind him with trained precision closer than nose to tail as they would bound through the area, matching foot-prints almost perfectly. White would be breaking through the grass and causing it to move before Sakamoto would have the chance to come into contact with it, reducing Sakamoto's presence among the group significantly if not entirely with the cacophony caused by the myriad cats that had veritably swarmed the battlefield. This way, there was no way that an opponent could deduce that Sakamoto had stayed in place in the same manner he had done for the source of the other disturbance, as Sakamoto was exactly the same size as these clones. There would also be no way of knowing which of the 10 he was following should his opponent make the deduction and zero way to strike at them all at once without using a LOT of chakra.

Then there was always the fact that White would make a Purrfect meatshield.

And so it begins. The sacrificial lamb had been slaughtered. The noises Yaru had heard while her eyes were closed were both confusing and yet utterly revealing in any kind of manner. She’d have far much found it annoying to have been rewarded by utter silence and the silent dismay of her pet. But instead was rewarded with an utter cacophony of violent noises all over the place. From cat howls to over like a dozen of entities spreading throughout the complete battlefield. Yaru nodded. She understood. There was no way any Genin could create an offensive that could cover the whole stadium in moving projectiles like that. She would have accepted the theory of an unusually powerful Genin, as much as that has happened before already. But covering such an area would be a feat more likely reserved to Jōnin even. It was more likely that they either used pets or clones. Solid clones at that. A power mostly reserved to Chuunin ranks and a good dozen even? An unusual technique was coming at Yaru that was certainly not listed in the local library. Her palms smashed together. Hand seals started to form. She had to answer the call of the wild. She could have just waited and sat there and eventually all of these noise generating monsters would come to find her. But Yaru was getting excited. Blood started to pump into her veins. The sweat that had layered itself on her skin dry from the cool breeze of the wind.

She could feel the training of her Senju master flowing through her. Her arms and legs pulsating. She was probably one of the most inexperienced participants today. Remembering well her last defeat against the steel user she had been paired up with during training. How she dominated the battlefield for ages until he hit, just once, hurt enough to leave the spoiled brat she was crying like a baby. Yaru pouted and blew thick amounts of air into her cheeks as if she was going to blow herself up like a blowfish. Memories like that sting. She had to concentrate. At least she’d fight like a proper ninja this time. No crying. No time to be scared of it. Feel the rush of the adrenaline. Feel the desire to tear your enemy apart. Feel the destructive urge of the snake blood within. The soft hidden call that makes you want to bite your fangs into your enemies’ flesh and rip them apart. Orochi. Shamed to be but monsters in their genetic heritage. Yaru wasn’t even human to begin with. She was created. A thing. She had no rights here to demand being regarded human. She had no need to stick to their moral code. They saw her as little more as a beast that needed be tamed by it’s masters. The thoughts made her angry. Adrenaline paired with pumping and pulsating greed to crush, bite and tear flesh apart. A sudden howl and scream of pure anger exhaled from her as her snake eyes would glow up and burn brightly.

Her hand seals were finished. Within but the breath of a second three large and mean looking demonic wolves of dirty dripping mud and filthy would raise from the earthen ground. Yaru herself slowly morphing down into a creature exactly alike them, with a final growl of all four they would move. Two wolves would spread out. Moving at incredible speeds of 20 m/s they could almost instantly traverse half the battlefield within mere seconds. Far surpassing the speeds of the little creatures that were crawling from all these corners. Within the blink of an eye the two of them had already engaged their enemy. The one to Yaru’s left had tracked down the ‘black’ clone of prey while the one to Yaru’s right went for the ‘green’ clone. The interaction would be most likely a rather short one. Whilst Yaru’s opponent had many minions, they were not very strong. The wolves were utterly designed to simply bruise and hold down an enemy. But if their bruising by far surpassed the rather pathetic endurance of their pray. The chances of ‘black’ and ‘green’ surviving the collision with the clones was highly unlikely. Yaru herself would move towards the center. She was hoping that her opponent would do the same and they could clash frontally just right here and there without any fuss about her having to hunt down all these clones. The mud wolf moving side by side with Yaru would slow down to half it’s potential speed to match Yaru’s.

Whilst the movements began. The poor sacrifice however had to face a rather sad situation. Two mean ass cats were coming for the baby snake and were about to corner and hit little Mayu. The young snek was literally in no shape nor did it have any desire to fight to begin with. Quickly it reached with its tails end into its own throat and pulled out a tiny wooden stick with a tiny white flag attached to it. Starting flail, it wildly while ducking its small head in hope that the predator cats would have mercy on the poor fella. They however, had all the time in the world to actually attack him and knock him out with a mere touch of their paws. It’d be left up to them if they wanted to hurt Mayu or not. He was already out of this race to begin with.

While the poor little baby was begging for mercy, his master was already incoming. It would not matter much if they had taken down Orochimayu or not. Yaru was directly on collision course with ‘Pink’ and her partnering mud wolf would get his jaw straight towards ‘Purple’. While Yaru was obviously slower than then the mud-born wolf companion, she was hoping that the surprise effect of the 4 wolves combined impact against enemy forces would suffice anyhow. The fact, that Yaru was fighting cats at this point, also lead to the rather confusing aspect that she was certain now that these cats were either her opponents’ pets or clones of their pet. But the fight had just begun and the two actual opponents had yet to truly face each other.

'Sakamoto didn't expect another summoner...‘

It was all falling into place. No sooner than multiple impacts into the long grass denoted a change and the sounds stemming from the corner of his opponents began to barrel in towards the others, Sakamoto immediately figured that there was something going on... The stealth-less footsteps were immediately telling, quadrupedal, heavy footed, appearing out of nowhere and charging directly into the blind area without so much as a second thought. They were fearless, likely mindless, they were certainly not stones or projectiles, yet they would charge far faster than a normal ninja through the thick brush. Sakamoto figured that this was a jutsu of some kind, likely a clone technique like his own of a different variant or something of the like replicating a living creature. Something like that would be useful... should the stars align. Though he had no idea of what kind... Nevertheless, the play could not go uncontested.

One of them was charging near the direction of one of his close feline companions, parallel to his own track with 'white'. Turning immediately, Sakamoto would have white slow down for a single bound, leaping off the back of white like a platform, flowing some chakra into the form of his clone as Sakamoto would use the height from the bound to trim the top of the trees in the few meters that would allow him to cut across the short distance to where 'black' was just about to be assaulted. Before Sakamoto landed, the Mud wolf would tear through the brush, smashing into black with all the vicious force of the jutsu had available, tangling the feline in its web with a powerful impact. The impact from the C rank jutsu would cause the feline to vanish after a moment teetering on the edge where it looked like Black may recover from the blow and simply be trapped, but, in death the cat defiantly planting a symbol directly onto the face of the rampaging wolf as it would eye up its next intended target who would soon land well within the vinicinity of sight with the creature. Barking yet another soft meow while airborne and beginning to now make contact with the grass in its path, Sakamoto would hold out a paw for the creature. Whatever it was, it was fast, and it was able to eradicate one of his cones instantly... it needed to go.

The creature seemed to be made of Doton, a mud wolf! Perfect! In a flash of an instant as Sakamoto would well his chakra into his paw within the range of the rampaging wolf. He would activate the symbol upon the base of his paw seeking to entangle it in his fuuinjutsu web which would draw it in like a miasma. Unless the lupine would have a reason to retreat from its 1m path before it had an inkling to Sakamoto's existence, it would find the chakra which bound it drawn into the seal in Sakamoto's paw, crumbling the creature into nothing more than the mud it had been called from, void of its master's chakra and now dead to the world. Sakamoto, immediately assuming that the wolf's owner would feel their control severed from their companion would seek to come after what had done the deed. It was time to act, and act now. Sakamoto had been gifted a powerful jutsu, one that would give him an edge in this combat in combination with the cat's that he had already formulated. Mud wolves were hard to kill, though the lingering effect of the seal would make his wolves vulnerable to techniques, keeping his own safe for the mean-time.

Flowing an excessively large amount of chakra into the seal in his paw, the chakra formula that had been sealed within it would spring to life. Like casting light through a lens with a burnt image upon it, all that was the 'Mud wolf' technique would leap to life before Sakamoto, generating three mud wolves of his own. Keen ears had been listening to the battlefield, something had moved in the position that he had heard the wolves come from, before it too began to move when they attacked, on all fours, much like the wolves. His opponent? Or an ally of his opponent? He couldn't be certain... but he would immediately send his first three lupine companions in a direct interception course for the three remaining enemy targets in the forest, a split second after, Sakamoto would overcharge the seal in his palm with chakra, breaking the seal which afforded him the use of the Mud Wolf technique, and casting the original that he had sealed a second time creating three more wolves which would follow closely behind the first.

This was no longer a duel, it was a war... and Sakamoto planned to win.

Elsewhere Pink and purple had assailed the snake, bringing it to their mercy as one of them held the snake in their teeth before the sound of running paws lunged for them. Each of them would turn with their paws, they were fast... too fast. Purple, wiley as ever would crouch with the snake in his mouth as the wolf came bombarding through the brush, equally blinded as Purple would toss the snake forward for its mass before leaping forward a meter into the air, splaying its claws in an attempt to intercept the creature before it would have time to adjust at its incredible speed and raise an attack airborne to catch the cat. All going well purple would land on the back of the wolf's neck. Hacking and slashing at the creature with cuts that would be considered negligible by ninja standards. Inch deep incisions with rapid strikes would seek to immobilize the wolf, if not push it to have to completely reform. Purple wasn't able to kill the wolf, though stuck to its back the wolf wasn't entirely able to kill Purple either in this state...

Pink however, was a dastardly creature. Sakamoto knew that moving the six foot tall grass caused the entire stem to wiggle and collide with the other grass. The grass could confer positioning, but it was unable to confer the height of the ninja that lay within it. Being so small was an advantage in this case. Though the trouble went both ways. Pink sought to keep low, wiggling his tail through the grass to continue to give off his position as Yaru would come through the grass at maximum speed. Pink would attempt to react in time, his claws were already poised to strike, and his speed was not so low as to not be able to attempt a single meaningless strike before the faux creature would collide with him at full force. Yet a horizontal swipe at the wolfs nose would have seemingly no effect on the transformation technique that had altered the from of the ninja. Smashing into Pink, the clone would be immediately destroyed, erupting in a puff of smoke and leaving a single pawprint seal upon Yaru in the location where Yaru's body had made the collision. Only to be immediately accosted again at the flanks!

Two wolves from the north of the arena would explode out of the brush to collide with Yaru as well as the wolf that Purple was mounting while the other two would shoot past them to target the third as it did its best to catch green. Green, under orders to avoid anything that was coming to it, as the wolf had made its charge ducked and rolled to the left of the wolf, keeping low while moving as quickly as possible before using the wolf's own tracks to continue its purpose for the mean time. Should the wolf have overshot the cat by as much as 1m at its whopping speed, it would be blind to greens position again, needing to rely on its masters sense of hearing in order to locate it, giving the cat valuable time to perform its task.

Yellow, orange, tie die, green, white, grey and orange would circle around the back of their opponent, each of them cutting their circle closer and closer to the middle so not to overlap in a rainbow like pattern so they could cover the maximum surface area before coming to a temporary halt.  Turning inward to the center of the arena, and charging at the locations where Sakamoto had hear his opponent so far at full speed. Zigzagging all the way as they did so. The cats sought to act as a second wave for the wolves should their job become difficult. Sakamoto could feel that one of his clones had been destroyed by the pet or ninja... that was a mistake, and it would soon be time to capitalize on it!

And within moments passing. The wolves would have their feast. The first one crashing into ‘black’ and smashing it to pieces in an instant. The second one coming in for green. Trying to charge into where it was supposed to find its enemy exactly where the last grass had rattled but eventually seemed to have missed it or the target had sneaked away in what only seemed like one second. Those part C-Rank clones of Yaru’s opponent seemed to be insanely quick and much smarter than the mud wolves. Leaving Yaru to question if her enemy was really using only high-end Genin techniques or if they somehow managed to already use skills more likely befitting a Chuunin or even stronger! After the northern wolves’ success and the southern wolves’ failure. Yaru specifically commanded her ‘troops’ to meet the slower incoming ones of Yaru herself and her helper to the left. Then eventually then one to the north just suddenly vanished from Yaru’s control and awareness. She didn’t even know that the southern one specifically missed ‘green’ she only could feel it come to a stop. Yaru had to quickly finish her charge and pull together for whatever was able to simply kill a normally immortal mud wolf that easily. The extra second later she impacted with purple and pink. Purple being a real pain in the ass and taunting the poor mud wolf with the defeated remains of Mayu. Tossing it at the wolves’ face and about to escape the wolves grasp and swing on its back.

Even pink was a fighter at its core trying to claw away at Yaru and hurt her despite being but a shard of a C-Rank technique. Whatever was happening in this arena. It seemed like that luck had all together abandoned Yaru for good. And any off chances that oh Fortuna could have given her were all for naught. As if an invisible hand seemed to puppeteer this whole situation in anything but even the slightest victory for Yaru’s charge at all. She cursed at the heavens above for being such a prick at her today. The real Yaru would break her animal mimic but not the transformation, leaving the ‘wolf’ in a seemingly awkward moment as one of its arms gripped pink from where it was trying to claw at Yaru. Luckily its claws had not done any noticeable damage to the snake charmer and Yaru could simply squish the beast with a powerful thud of her palm, slamming it to the ground. Yaru would move in and kick away the purple beast off her companion. She wanted to scold her partner for being seemingly useless to begin with. Just about in time the one that came from the south would have to ‘report’ its failure of taking out its own target by making a whimpering muddy dog noise. Yaru would grind her still seemingly feline teeth together. But as they say. Unfortunate events always come in packs of very bad luck.

Four wolves made of mud were coming from the high grass. The first two charging for Yaru’s seemingly useless companion and herself. The one going for Yaru’s companion seemed to be wrestling his look-alike with neither really having any specific advantage at this point. The other would potentially find itself surprised at how the Yaru-wolf was resisting him and could just kick him forcefully away as he tried to bite himself into Yaru. The bites merely leaving some tiny bruises on Yaru’s real arm. Potentially even gnawing off the pawprint seal that pink had left behind on the snake charmer. If luck, for once would be on Yaru’s side that is. Considering she had no clue that pawprint had even been left upon her. The whole match was getting intensely annoying but the snake charmer had to calm down. Neither of the cats or any of the wolves could really actually hurt her at all. She had hit her own head harder than those wolves could bite or those cats could scratch. It was enough. The puppet game was obviously something Yaru wouldn’t gain the upper hand at and since luck had been working against her as well, the off chance of actually just randomly walking into a positive change of events was not going to work. Yaru however, except for the short duration of dealing with pink and purple. Was still in disguise as a wolf. The two she was commandeering were now wrestling the other two, should the one receiving Yaru’s kick not fully disperse down to mud for now.

But the grass around them rattled. More of those sneaky cats were coming for her. And she could have sworn that more wolves had been in the pack earlier. Charging past her. If they figured that Yaru’s southern warrior had now turned to the middle, they would most likely be coming down here for her as well. So Yaru decided to do what seemed to be the most efficient strategy while wolves around her wrestled. The enemy knew where she was. Weaker scout’s incoming for her.

She did absolutely nothing. As of yet, anything had to actually hurt her, like in a way she’d actually feel it to lose this match. Even if all those cats came for her. All the other… whatever how many dozen wolves were still out there waiting for her. Yaru would do nothing but be one of the dumb wolves. That were trying to corner each other. Leaving the question remaining to whomever arrived at this scene. Where was Sakamoto’s actual enemy? Still in hiding somewhere?

'And so it came crumbling down.‘

Sakamoto was happy with his performance so far, his plans seemed to have worked out, for the better part, successfully save for a couple of minor setbacks. Pawns occasionally needed to be sacrificed, but as the wolf which chased Green retreated, rather than effortlessly giving pursuit and chasing the poor creature down. Then there was purple, who had been struck down with a single kick to the side, vanishing into thin air and placing another pawprint seal on the side of Yaru's leg. Sakamoto would feel the creature vanish, it was a sacrifice play that Sakamoto had to make in order to win and to that end, the two of them had served their purpose. He could empathize with wanting to build a phalanx and consolidate the ninja's strength. Yaru seemed to be pooling their resources, it was a good tactic, pooling one's power in one place allowed many soldiers to make a stand against overwhelming force. Drawing your opponent into you allowed you to fight a battle on your grounds.

The wolf would continue to chase the fleeing hound, pausing for a moment and moving to chase the creature the short burst that would lead it back to the center of the arena, while the other three charged into the two remaining foes that were there. The one who would crash into the remaining wolf would shatter it's form. The strength of the jutsu having been strained from the Fuinjutsu that had pulled at the strings that bound the united technique together. Crashing into its side as the other would turn to bite the leg of its attacker, flipping it onto its back with momentum. It made sense that Yaru's skill with the jutsu would be greater as one wolf would trump the other in an instant, but it was its lack of strength that led to its downfall, slamming into it while it was in a vulnerable position that ended Yaru's mud-wolf allowing the other to reform as Yaru's lone survivor would erupt from the grasslands in hot pursuit.

Meanwhile the two that would have jumped Yaru would have attacked the ninja high as she would have presented her arm. The mud would be gnawing with blunted teeth, more like a grinding force than something pointed as it would deliver its minor bruises with the force of its collision as well as the bites that would proceed it. The second would hit immediately after. How Yaru had managed to keep their footing having taken such a blow at that speed one after the other. Sakamoto would have to question later. But it was time to end this fight. Sakamoto had the advantage of numbers, Yaru's arm was bound and the second wolf would be quickly attempting to grab hold of the ninja's other hand to prevent the use of hand-seals if they could at all help it... Leading to the next and final stage of the miniature general's attack.

''Charge...!''

The internal command would a hound that were standing by leap for the chest of Sakamoto's opponent. With the mud wolves latched onto at least one of their arms try to drag them to the ground and pin them under the force. As for the paw-print seal that had been present on their arm, although the wolves did grind against it, barely having the damage available to deal harm to the substance it had been plastered on, they had no method in which to harm the symbol emblazoned upon it.

The final hound would attempt to disperse the final of Yaru's three hounds with one final harrowing impact as the second wave would begin to charge. Like tiny people attempting to pin down and detain a giant. The clones would swarm in from their locations at bursting speeds, accelerating with claws drawn. Sakamoto among them, attempting to mimic their speed to not stand out from any of them as they would make their charge from a whole host of angles.... Their claws would not be able to deal a lot of damage... quarter inch cuts were hardly anything to write home about... but with enough cuts an opponent could bleed to submission. There were also locations, vital locations so close to the surface that 1/2 inch cuts could be devastating if exploited. The ends of the extremities like the Achilles tendons at the rear of the ankles and the wrists naming two. Yellow and orange having completed their routes would be the two who would attempt to strike low for their ankles, darting in from the distance as they would hope to strike each of those locations simultaneously.

Green would attempt to strike at the arm of their opponent while Blue would attempt to shoot the neck of Orochiyari's right side with poised claws and teeth at one second intervals after the ankle strike. While white and grey would attempt to mirror the same tactic from their brothers green and blue respectively from the other side in a barrage of clones that would have made a former Hokage proud. All the while, Sakamoto would attack from the front. Simply looking like another one of the clones, he could have easily been called 'red' in another world. Leaping directly at the face of the final wolf, all claws drawn and ready to deliver two devastating strikes across the face and eyes of the lupine opponent before him. Knowing full well that he was in the most precarious position... Such direct attacks were always a feint waiting to happen...

It was time for a showdown. Orochiyaru’s anger was rising by the very moment. Creatures were coming at her from all directions. Her wolf companions were failing in their pursuit, slowly losing their advantage against their foes. It seemed, as if the technique that destroyed the first mud wolf had taken the spirit from the surviving two as well. They were frail. Vulnerable. They persisted for the most part, but the swarm was coming. Yaru could hear them as if there were a thousand footsteps from all around the battlefield chasing for her. She was breathing hard, she was yet to see her actual opponent in this cursed battlefield and was already starting to become insecure about her own abilities to persist here. They were coming for her. Two more wolves were already gnawing away at Yaru’s muddy disguise. If they actually had brains, they would have wondered why their cousin wasn’t being shattered by their bites. If they only had known that this mud wolf was but the very core of the enemy themselves. But that detail didn’t stop the rest of the swarm. To come for whatever was left of Yaru’s primary attack in the very intent to eradicate any and all that was left. Her opponent was cunning. Powerful. She imagined it to be some sort of Uchiha now that she could relate it to the many cats and the duplication of her own technique. A young handsome fella that she’d have enjoyed to seduce and bend him to her will.

Even as ‘red’ seemed to be part of the charging wave of numberless cats that were marching for her. Yaru had no clue as of yet that her opponent was far from the good-looking boy fantasy she had in her own mind. Despite being certainly handsome and strong, for cat standards. None would have expected Sakamoto to actually be a cat and a ninja. That was still something yet to be officially seen in the ninja world. Yaru was feeling defeat crawling over her. Time seemed to stand still. She could feel herself breathe in deeply and the gnawing teeth of wolves in her limbs were starting to feel numb and insignificant. She could imagine herself being swarmed by the seemingly endless clones. Slowly taken down until at last, that handsome fella she had put into her mind would come to her beaten body and eventually offer his hand in truce over the shattered dreams of a busty snake lady in her very defeat. It was almost romantic. For a second. Until the anger that Yaru had oh so little control over was taking back its charge over her persona. Crawling back up her spine and leaving her adrenaline to pump into her veins at speed that was driving herself scared even. Her head tilted back. The transformation slowly slipped and what once was but a tireless strong wolf became the curvy frame of the snake lady. Wolves glaring at her as her guttural scream exhaled into the battlefield.

With all the strength that was suddenly born with her anger filled core. With all the strength she could muster up. The wolves couldn’t keep her contained anymore. They could gnaw and bite at her all they wanted, Yaru’s aura exhaled an amount of chakra that clearly peaked the edges of what a Genin should possible be able to reach. Sakamoto himself would probably just be coming within the one-meter distance as Yaru’s powerful aura blasted over the battlefield like a pure exhaled heartache. He might even get to put a glimpse on her very form and the glowing eyes of pure barbaric determination in her gaze. Just as that palm of hers reached the very ground below her. The earth itself would answer Orochiyaru’s call with its anger. Yaru was lifting her head as the ground beneath them started to shake. She would be staring right into ‘red’s face without even the slightest cue of her realizing that she was finally facing her opponent. But her pure anger was clearly visible on her face and Sakamoto, even if he was somewhat safe in his airborne stance, would have to watch the wrath of the snake lady first hand. The technique Yaru had aimed at her very own body was intended to travel into the distance. But this was a clear suicidal move. The very ground below her broke up and started to swallow Yaru and every last creature within her surroundings.

The remains of her own wolves. All enemy wolves. All enemy clones that had made it to the impact of the swam. All gone. Sakamoto himself that had aimed to jump Yaru would find himself landing on little more than cracked earth as everything, including his surprisingly appearing enemy, had suddenly vanished from the face of the earth. Yaru herself swallowing the very damage of her own technique as the earthen shards slowly claimed her and pressured her below. The ground all around Sakamoto was still shaking in the major tremor that was erupting all around him. While the cat ninja himself would most likely remain unharmed. He would be standing in a crater in the ground. All the grass around him had been crushed and smashed. He could probably even see the arena stances now. At least the sunlight would finally get to shine on his face as within the 4m radius no grass had been able to withstand the all-consuming rumble of the earth. And Yaru? She seemed gone. Was that it? Would the battle be over already? Did Sakamoto win the very second, he laid but his very eyes on his enemy for the first time? Or was more for him incoming? For now, he had to deal with the fact that despite he had an army but a second ago. They were gone. If he was lucky one of his minions would have survived the onslaught by simply escaping the radius or not having entered it yet as it happened. But the fight itself. It wasn’t over. Yet.

'This was the moment!‘

The best laid out plan he could bring to the table, the final moment, the crescendo of the felines plans coming to their fruition as the 11 creatures surrounding the ninja before them would charge in from all angles. The mud wolves would be destroyed by Sakamoto's having sapped their strength, Sakamoto's opponent was marked for death twice over now from killing 2 of his Duplicats. but now it was finally time to execute their all out assault on the pinned and trapped ninja. Victory so close that Sakamoto could taste it, his claws extended raking the earth and propelling himself forward with all the determination that he could muster, reeling himself back, pacing himself to not break ranks and identify himself while the finish line was oh so close... and it was a good thing that he did.

The form of the final mud wolf began to change, Sakamoto knew it! With his use of the mud wolf technique he had only been able to create three, the fact that his opponent had 4 had tickled Sakamoto the wrong way as they had revelaed themselves. But the facade melted and standing there was a furious looking woman whom smelled distinctly serpentine. With an almight roar shee summoned the strength to shrug off the wolves that were holding her, slamming them into the ground as she would thrust a free hand into the ground. Fer face was low now, just as low as it was before. Sakamoto would make the leaping attack he had intended to perform before! Yet no sooner had he done so, the earth would open up, swallowing the woman as she would be wrenched under the earth with the force of the chasm. Sakamoto for a moment looked stunned, as the 4m radii expansion of the ripple would also swallow all of Sakamoto's mud wolves and all of the Duplicats that had been aiming for the wolf's legs.

In a single devastating stunt, so much of Sakamoto's work had been undone in an act of self sacrifice. Sakamoto knew he had pawprints on the ninja, he had the ability to seal her next technique regardless of what it was. The attack would have gone through as per normal and the cats would have shredded the woman into pieces as they clambered across her body. Yet, stunned by the transformation, and so certain that the win was already close at hand. Sakamoto faltered. Landing on the overturned earth in the 8m wide arena that had now been created. Himself and 2 cats were all that were left. 4 pawprint seals having been placed 1.5m from the epicenter of the blast in the 4 carnal directions. 'That was tearing earth turning palm...' Sakamoto thought to himself, eyes widening at the realization that his opponent had centered that offensive technique on themselves in an effort  to thwart Sakamoto. She would have taken major bruising immediately to almost 100% of her body with an attack that direct. And escaping that technique for a Genin would almost be impossible without some form of aid...

'This was his chance!'

Sakamoto having landed would place a pawprint seal on a stone directly atop where the ninja had fallen as he would channel his chakra around himself. Swirling wind would surround Sakamoto as the other two Duplicats would use the last of their energy to place two more each 2m away from the epicenter to the north west, north east, south west and south east to compliment the other four as their technique finally came to an end, vanishing into nothing and leaving only Sakamoto, glowing with rolling wind surrounding his body. Leaping backwards in a backwards somersault, Sakamoto would lash out with the aura on his tail, shooting a 1m wide guillotine blade deep into the prison where Yaru would be held vertically careful to avoid the Pawprint seals that surrounded the location on the ground. Like a blade sliding into a magicians' box the shot would penetrate the non chakra enhanced earth effortlessly. Landing, Sakamoto would spin with his tail, launching a second blade horizontally downward.

Each of the wind blasts would ignore the earth and rocks piled upon her, if anything, breaking them into smaller pieces would allow them to compound on top of Orochiyaru. With the pain of the boulders, the shock and not having the strength to remove them initially. There was no way the ninja would have the dexterity under the earth to move their arms together in a manner to perform hand-seals. Combined with the 1m wide lashes would have enough power to dig deeply into the flesh of Sakamoto's opponent, able to cut bone deep depending on their location, through veins and arteries where they were able to hit. Sakamoto wasn't able to see nor sense Yaru's body, but, the technique Yaru used was a well known one and they had fallen shaft down into the earth, extrapolating their position from that, and the radii of the technique was not a difficult one... it was merely a question of what position she was laying in. For that, Sakamoto would aim for what would be the dead center of mass with each of his blasts, following the downward trail to its inevitable location, accounting for what little of the woman's body size he had seen and taking into account her position and posture as she fell...

In truth, this was merely an opening volley for what was to come next from the feline. His tail coiling up for further blasts to lash deep into the earth and scar the woman if she did not surface quickly. She had taken Sakamoto by surprise, but in so doing, she had literally dug her own grave. It was time for her to lay in it...

Orochiyaru found herself buried in the ground. There was no sound left but the noises of crumbling earth slowly dripping onto her moderately bruised skin. The spots where she had already received the minor bruises from the wolves earlier would hurt the most as cumulative damage seems to be piling up in her limbs. Yaru had to face it. Her move to destroy all the enemy spawns had been a bit rash and probably inflicted more damage then it did any good to herself. Now she was buried. She could consider the match lost and accept her defeat. All she could internally wish for was that the handsome Uchiha boy she was still imagining to be her powerful opponent would come to help her out of her demise and eventually offer his hand like a white knight, to exhale his own sorry for harming the charming lady. Yaru’s imagionation was comforting her in a world of aching bruises on her skin. She was actually blushing while yet the crumbles of earth above her were starting to cut off the airflow that was supplying her with the proper amount of oxygen. If she would have been left here in the dark, Yaru would have had to accept her defeat at last. To see that this fight had grown over her own head and that she certainly had no way to deal with any of this anymore. In her mind she was already trying to imagine the shower and maybe even the nice hot bath she could pick on about.

But Yaru’s enemy that was yet still no handsome Uchiha boy, was standing on top of her makeshift grave. His attack had been voided by the fact that Yaru disappeared and yet, while he was basically standing on top of his victory. He made the decision that he would not be the white knight Yaru was hoping for. Instead he wished to put insult to injury and hurt the bruised lady beneath with another offensive attack. While Yaru’s arms were above her head, she had not the strength to move the earth to either pull herself out or to place her hands together for a seal. However, the lovely stranger above her was so nice to actually take care of that for her. Yaru could hear the noises of whirlwind gushing above her. The noises seemingly making her ears tingle despite being buried by the earthen shards. As the wind sliced its way into the thing layer above Yaru, it sends painful hard slicing cuts through the upper layer of her grave. A damage of probably ¾ inches would slice its way into her arms above her. Yaru screamed aloud, the pain was aching through her. Little tears would run down her cheeks and get soaked up by the earthen crumbs pressing to her face. Why would anyone be as cruel as to torture the fallen victim like that? Why would they have to be so mean to beat a broken down woman in her acceptance over her own defeat.

Yaru’s anger would rise once again in her core. How dare he be such a massive prick about this. How dare he destroying her sweet imagination of what would come to pass on this day. How dare he treat her like this. She did nothing to deserve any of this. The wind cut through the simple, non-chakra infused layers above Yaru and made the layers crumble above her to properly drive the chakra enhanced wind through the surface. The heavy mass that had kept her arms in check slowly dissolving and giving way to the chakra infused airflow. For a moment, Yaru had one motion left to count on and she would make it count indeed. Her palms digging through the now cut open muddy surface above her. Hands rushing together. Chakra formed. In a sudden rush of doton energies her whole snake body was attuning itself to the very ground she was buried in. The chakra surrounding her now allowing the snake lady to move beneath the earth at ease. With a single grip of her palm. Yaru would reach her arm from the ground below. Like a zombie raising from the dead. Gripping the very end of Sakamoto’s leg and with a fierce pull she’d tug whatever creature was above her. Due to the fact that all mud wolves and all cats had been destroyed. There was but only one target right above her she had to find. The technique usually allowed her to travel far.

In order to find her target and pull them below. But she already was below earth. Her target already was directly above her. Cutting the usually time it needed to execute this technique to basically zero. With a mighty pull of Yaru’s arm. She tugged the creature down below. And leaving them buried in the very grave Yaru had dug for herself. The cat now suffering from the very immobility that Yaru had been placed over. Unable to move and remain stuck where she once had been. Due to the fact that the earth had already been dug below. Yaru could move at around 15 m/s and her target was literally less than a meter above her. Even if they thought about moving away. The time frame at which they could try to escape was as much zero as all preparations for this jutsu were completely voided by the very situation Yaru had found herself in. Pulling her target below. Yaru would use her ability to move to leave them in their grave and slither back on top of the ground. To her very own surprise, it was but another one of those cats she would end up staring down on. Had the filthy pet attacked her already bruised body? She would glare at it in deep anger as her eyes would scout the area. The crater she had produced earlier leaving the 4m radius around her void of the normally blinding grass.

But since she couldn’t see the coward handsome Uchiha boy she was still imagining to be her actual enemy. Yaru would take the time to breath and start mending the cuts on her bleeding wounds as medical chakra formed in her hands and she could slowly start. She had enough bandages on her body to wrap up the wounds once she stopped the bleeding from them. But it’d would require time. So, unless that master of the nasty cat would show up to strike at her obviously vulnerable form. Yaru would take her time to tend to the nasty cuts on her body.

'SURPRISE!‘

There was a long wait before there was any movement, Sakamoto could not feel the presence of the ninja below him... for a moment, he could have sworn he'd won the battle. The earth that his blades had cut through would have collapsed back in on the underground ninja, compounding into another layer of sediment, though he had created a gap for that moment, one that was apparently large enough for her to move her hands and begin recovering some of the damage across her body as she had to move her hands all around the wounded areas. If sakamoto had of seen the use of such a technique, he would have surely ended it... but deep underground such things went hidden for the mean time. He didn't feel bad for attempting a coup de graces against the female ninja underground, this was the Chunin exams, and as far as he was concerned it was custom to go all out, ninja needed to ensure that their opponent was down and out for the count... This would of course be true across the board, and should Sakamoto have been stronger, it would have been true here.

He, however, didn't think about the possibility the person he had been fighting was a medical ninja... Who, in taking the time that Sakamoto had assumed they were down and out, no movement coming from the rocks underneath was time that they had spent recovering the 1m long lashes across their body in time to prepare a counter-attack. As soon as the rumbling of the earth began from underneath him, Sakamoto having only just turned his back to walk away, two hands came screaming out of the ground for the Feline's legs, Sakamoto recoiled in momentary shock, though it was too late. The hand would grip around his leg successfully, however, in doing so the attack would have two potential consequences based on the outcome of the technique. The Hands would wrap around Sakamoto's legs with relative ease, causing him to reflectively claw onto the earth with his claws like talons as he would shout a profanity cut short by the attack being dragged back into the earth as fate would split in two.

In grabbing Sakamoto's legs, the aura of fuuton which surrounded his body would literally shred the flesh off of both of Yaru's hands in an instant, eviscerating them to the bone on the side of her palms. The technique had landed, that much was true, but without a defensive value her hands would all but be destroyed by the Fuuton chakra which surrounded Sakamoto, prompting the blinded female ninja to either commit to the action, regardless of the pain, empowered only by the chakra that fueled the action of the double suicide decapitation technique. Or, recoil with the horrifying pain of having the flesh stripped from their hands in a single savage instant, forcing them to abandon the technique due to the inability to have visually perceived and prepared for the pain that was coming. Either way, after the use of the technique, her opponent's hands would be useless, likely immobile and good for nothing as the fuuton would have ripped through the soft tissue of the hands that would have allowed them any motion or dexterity with the 2cm cuts even wrapping around the individual fingers in some cases.

'It'd be a horrifying sight to behold'

Should Sakamoto be dragged down into the earth, he'd manage to clap his paws together in a hand-seal before being plunged into the earth. Having activated the moving through stone technique Sakamoto would be thrust into the earth, usually trapped, however with moving through stone activated, he would find himself veritably swimming through the earth and stone of Konohagakure, righting himself and leaping to a side, hopefully before his opponent could capitalize. Ducking his head under the earth like a turtle and running in the direction of Orochiyaru before exploding up from slightly beneath her on a 30 degree angle, jumping to rise up and past her legs, turning mid-air and launching an attack towards the back of her ankles. Another flying guillotine hoping to snip her achilles and drop her to the ground in pain. Sakamoto didn't like being scared... but the drag into the ground would have done just that. Had he been human he would have been blushing in embarrassment. Thankfully, even the crowd who saw Sakamoto wasn't entirely sure he wasn't just a very well trained pet. Yet alone his opponent...

But should Yaru have abandoned the technique and recoiled, she still would have been able to come back up from her earthen prison. Sakamoto would have leaped backwards, swiping with a claw to launch another guillotine in her direction at waist height.

As the flurry would resolve in either way, Sakamoto would ready a hand-seal, staring down his opponent for a moment and preparing his next move. Finally he had her in sight as he would stand on his hind legs. It was only now that the thought of mercy came to mind, face to face with his wounded opponent a twang of guilt pinging at something that had been developing within him... something not unlike a conscience, but not yet fully formed. So, with all the grace of a saint, he would offer his opponent a chance to back down. His voice deep, monotonous and earthy as he would begin to speak." You've struggled well, but, you're literally standing in the middle of a minefield, and i've marked you twice with my seals... Surrender now, and I won't activate them. Don't, and I will."

It was time to see how this all ended.

ROUND ONE DEADLINE HAS BEEN REACHED

Round One: Sakamoto vs. Orochiyaru. Orochiyaru has sustained injuries over the course of the battle from her Earth Style jutsu and Sakamoto's Wind Aura bruising her body and cutting her hands severely, in contrast, Sakamoto has sustained no injuries. While Orochiyaru has resources available, her current injuries would make it difficult to continue the fight for much longer, while Sakamoto has much more stamina remaining. While the two have similar chakra, such injuries would heavily impact Orochiyaru's ability to fight moving forward.

Based on this, Sakamoto wins the round.

Yaru was certainly not aware that her target had an aura active as well. Once again she’d face a technique that could break all expectations of what she deemed to be possible to shield him in a seemingly all protective aura of wind and to give him so much offensive and wind projectiles in a single move. Yaru had to face the fact that she couldn’t possibly beat an enemy with such potent techniques and yet she would certainly not let her palms linger to receive more damage once the initial cuts had been granted. Liking her own palms intact and mostly unharmed. Yaru’s movements could not go through as initially intended. That the sneaky cat even would have had a way to escape the earth grave she had intended for him so easily was something she could honestly not have foreseen. But luckily she would never find out and remain in the very belief that, if she had made it through to grab that mean cat, she’d have certainly won this battle against the sneaky pet. However, considering that Yaru was still in the very belief that her opponent was yet a cunning Uchiha somewhere hiding in the grass she had been far from the idea to be able to still win this in a reasonable matter. If his pet could already put up such a fierce fight against her, how would it have gone through if he actually came to take part in this? Yaru however, was still not going to just let the cat insult her.

With the doton chakra surrounding her body. She had free movement and despite the new cuts in her fingers she seemed to have avoided most of the damage that had been waiting for her palms. Allowing her to keep he active medical cakra flowing and aim it against her newly received finger wounds. She would have had the chance to move about the earth and surface so this match could go on. The sneaky mean cat would have certainly been ready to launch more of these projectiles towards the snake lady. But before that could come to pass, the sirens of the stadium would ring. Times up. Yaru pouted to herself. She barely had used any of her fun techniques yet. She had to admit that going through the various rounds of bad luck and facing techniques of incomparable strength the little furball had outdone her. Her self-induced injuries had eventually a more negative effect on the match than she had expected. But she had not even known about the time limit. Feeling a bit silly now that she potentially wouldn’t have been such a show off if she knew that the match wouldn’t go through till the very end. Yaru slowly surfaced back, the previous wounds healed, the newly contracted cuts on her fingers as well. The glowing cyan color of her medical chakra would still brightly glare from her palms as she casually rubbed it a bit against her bruised skin.

It’d take some more time to get the bruises gone. But being of moderate and not all too heavy degree, save from some spots that had taken continuous repeated ‘care’ during this match. She was feeling that she would be able to take care of herself. Since the match had been halted. Her jutsu had been aborted. The gruesome vision Sakamoto had foreseen would have never come to pass and so his speech would have never been given place to appear. Yaru would inhale once. The burden of the loser was always to accept such with a certain grace. She admitted. He didn’t seem to make that very easy for her with his behavior. “Mean cat…” Yaru pouted and bowed to the proctor that had since the signal announced the outcome of the match based on the remaining endurance of the two combatants. Fairly enough, Yaru had to admit that her offense had never even come to pass yet. Maybe it was a lesson to her to not let her opponent be so controlling of the way the match was going. After a soft sigh she took what honor was left in her guts and bowed to the cat as well, for the seeming lack of seeing that guy she ought to be her opponent. Or maybe the cat was just him in disguise? It didn’t seem to matter. Eventually Yaru would have walked the stadium’s exit. The crowd above still cheering for a seemingly fair spectacle and an entertaining one at least.

Sakamoto

Sakamoto

D-rank
'It all came to its natural conclusion‘

Sakamoto had come more prepared it seemed to the battle, or perhaps he was simply the one who had seized control of the advantages that were presented to him faster. The battle was a hard one, as well as a fast one, though in the end it seemed that Sakamoto had claimed the victory. As the proctors leapt down into the arena and called the match, Sakamoto looked over at his opponent as she dragged herself from the heap... she didn't look happy, but she was still a Konohagakure ninja, one that Sakamoto might very well be seeing at some point after the end of the exams. Sakamoto's mind was still in tactical mode, racing a million words a minute attempting to get the upper hand in any given scenario... or perhaps it was that annoying twang in his chest that had begun to develop in recent days. Like something was caught in his throat and put him on edge. Sakamoto hated the feeling of guilt, he couldn't stand why anyone would allow it to become a part of their system, and he'd yet to see how it benefited anyone...

So, leaping across from where he was and beginning to walk slowly towards the ninja that had begun to dig herself out of her hole, brushing herself off and healing her hands as the crowd cheered them both on for the epic battle that had just been seen between them. Sakamoto would turn to sit side on, licking his paw and cleaning the dust of battle from his fur with long laps of his barbed tongue. Definately not being able to look at her for longer than a moment at a time, in fear that she would catch his gaze in a moment of weakness. Sakamoto would think about his words for a moment as she had healed herself completely. The words 'mean cat' left her lips, and the twang in Sakamoto's chest twisted into a knot. had he really been cruel in this battle? They were attempting to mimic a real fight between ninja after all, it was the duty of each of them to fight each battle their hardest. It wasn't his fault that he won, it wasn't his fault that he went all out... so why should he care if she harbored ill will towards him after the match?

So, he did what any other cat would do in this situation, played it off with contempt. He'd thought about praising her for the fight, but the delicate pride of Sakamoto as he had wormed his way closer in order to attempt to smooth things over with an awkward compliment totally evaporated into the afternoon sun. She bowed at him, and he gave a small bow of his head in return, one that showed that he would, but only because she did it, and he was nowhere near gracious in defeat. Moving away from the battle, he would peer back at her exiting from where she had come from while Sakamoto crossed the battlefield to the entrance he had entered through at the very beginning. It was there he met one of the organizers congratulating him for the match... But at this point, Sakamoto was done with people, tired, and irritated, it was time to go home. The emotions that stirred in him had been crushed and replaced with the same irritability that he seemed to always carry on his shoulders.

If you'd asked him what he was instructed to do, he likely wouldn't have been able to repeat it, he wasn't listening as the process of the Chunin exams was laid out before him from that point onwards. Today was a write off, it was time to bring on the next match.
