Destiny

D-rank
With a groan she rolled over onto her face, burying her face underneath of her pillow against the bright sunlight that came streaming through her window. What would sound much like a growl escaped her next as she raised her arm, holding the pillow down by her face. She kept it there until she absolutely needed air, till her brain was to the point of beginning to feel fuzzy. She pushed the pillow away and rolled back over, glaring at the window as if it was all the windows fault for allowing the light in in the first place.

She raised the same hand she had used to hold the pillow over her own face and rubbed her face, attempting to get the small bits of gunk around her eyes. "Bleah... I so hate mornings." With that said she stretched with another groan followed by a huge and long drawn out yawn. Relaxing again she just stared at the ceiling for a moment before reaching over and ripping the blankets off of herself. She flinched when the cold air hit her, cursing it silently the whole time. She sat up, dangling her legs over the edge of the bed before placing both of her feet on the cold floor.

"Uuugh, I knew I shouldn't have stayed out all night long..", she muttered to herself. She knew she had to train today, it was of the up most importance that she get the ancient clan jutsu she had stumbled across learned. It had to be done! And yet, for once, she was lax, she had allowed herself to stay up all night long studying. Not that there was a point to it, she had planned on doing more studying this morning to make sure she got it down perfectly before practicing it.

With a groan she slipped herself off of the rest of the way from the bed, standing. After a quick trip to her bag, where she pulled out several items of clothing, she wandered her way into the bathroom to shower and get dressed. Steam billowed out of the bathroom, filing the room she had rented for her stay, turning it almost creepy like with the fog-like steam. When her shower was finished she got dressed, wearing her usual purple and black stripped sweater, matching leggings, her gray skirt, and her normal pair of black boots. After a good towel dry of her hair she pulled it up into a ponytail, only her messy bangs hanging down. There, perfect for training. Well... almost. With a side thought she reached over to the top of the dresser she had never bothered to put her clothing in, grabbing her headband off of it. She tied it on around her head, using it to keep her bangs further out of her face. "There, perfect."

She glanced back over to her bed, knowing she had already wasted plenty of time with getting showered and dressed, but she just couldn't bring herself to leave without making the bed first. She quickly threw the blankets and sheets back on properly, not bothering at least to straighten the pillows. With that she took one last glance around, grabbed the key to the door, and grabbed the other bag which held several books. She slung the thing over her shoulder and exited her room, stepping out into the cold air and locking the door behind herself.

She looked around, pondering her best chance for privacy. She needed a place that was quiet, out of the way. Some where that people wouldn't venture to. She didn't want people knowing, when she did get this technique down, that she was capable of such things until the timing was perfect. So.. privacy, privacy... where to find some privacy. She thought over the options before her; she could go back to the forest if she wanted to, it was an excellent place to train, but it was also very busy - she could go to the docks, but there were always people there, nosy people, which just wouldn't do when it came to privacy - then there was the river, which was large, had many clearings, peaceful.. and would provide a lot of privacy. So! The river it is then!

She slipped her arm through the other strap of the backpack, making sure that it wouldn't slip or fall. The books inside were important to her, they held vital information for her, and she wasn't about to risk them with stupidity. Everything moved past her in a blur, and she couldn't wait to learn this genjutsu. It was going to make everything so much clearer, so much easier. It didn't take long to reach the river itself, but she needed the perfect spot. The spot that was better than any other. She wandered for a while, moving at a slow walk until she found a place she just didn't want to leave. There was a very large, very flat boulder in the center of one of the small branch offs from the river itself. Close enough to see the river further down, but up enough to where she could hear herself think over the rushing sound of the water. She tossed her bag skillfully onto the boulder and than backed away from the river, giving herself room to make the running jump, compared to the stepping stones that would have made life so much easier. She took off running, leaping off of the shore at the last possible moment, sending herself shooting in an arc into the air, just to land, rather gracefully, in the center of this overly large flat boulder.

Without wasting any more time she sat down on the boulder and opened her bag, spreading the books and scrolls she had brought out in front of her. She picked through them carefully, taking time to read everything she could. The first book held little to no knowledge she could honestly use. The next book was slightly better, as it went over the basics of the technique she was trying to learn. The scroll however, that was where things got all kinds of useful. The scroll explained in graphic detail with diagrams, the exact way to start the technique, what it would do, and how it would effect the user.

It described how the basic idea of the jutsu was to enhance the senses. To increase eyesight to the point to where nothing could move too fast to be seen. Everything would be kept in perfect detail, compared to blurring as things tended to do according to the eyes when they moved far too fast. It explained how the sense of hearing was also increased, to dangerously high levels. To the point to where the user could end up stunned for a short period of time if a loud enough sound went off close by them. It also went into detailed history of the genjutsu. How it formed from a mild helping tool into something even more powerful, more useful. How it was honed to almost near perfection. From there it went into graphic detail of how it was helpful against other genjutsu, to keep the user from being able to become trapped in them, how it could be used to memorize the genjutsu so that the user couldn't be trapped in it again, even when Auspex wasn't in use. The perfect technique. The perfect ace in the hole to have for truly horrible and sticky situations. The perfect helping hand. And it was going to be all hers to learn, to use, to dominate with.

She knew the aspects of the training now like it was the back of her own hand, but it was time to put it to more practical use. The descriptions said she'd feel it, know it was active. She concentrated on her chakra, doing much like she would with any other genjutsu. After a moment she could feel the change in her eyes, and the visible aspects were indeed noticable. Her eyes felt.. sensitive almost. She looked around, also picking up on her increased hearing. She could hear the river as if it were a lot closer than what it was. And she could see everything so perfectly. She looked up into a tree, watching a bird take off, each flap of its wings now visible compared to how they might have been before.

That's when something off to her left caught her attention, a form moving through the trees, watching her. She could hear it now, hear it whispering, begging her to look at it.. She stood up on her rock, forgetting her books and scrolls for the moment. The form moved towards her, eyes gleaming out from underneath of a dark hood. Then she saw the hands, forming hand seals. The next thing she knew she was under a genjutsu, it wasn't anything super powerful, meant to show her her darkest fear. Yet.. it was off. She saw it, and then didn't. Like she knew it was supposed to be there, could feel the physic imprint it had left behind, and yet it was no longer capable of holding her. A grin spread across her face, triumphant, even more so as she watched the person run off, having suddenly realized that their random attack hadn't' worked. "Go on.. run... I'll chase you down later on... for now you've helped me realize I did it right..."

Stopping Auspex was the same as starting it, almost like a mental switch of sorts that just turned out the lights, or in this case, the increased sight and hearing. She looked down at her study books and scrolls, taking one final glance at the area the person had been, before picking up the books and scrolls and putting them back into her bag. She slipped her arms into the straps and then took off, shooting off to chase down the person who had attempted that genjutsu on herself and failed, miserably...

She caught up with them within minutes, Auspex once more 'turning on' as a gleam entered into her violet gaze. "You... why did you attack me?" Her head tilted, waiting for some sort of an attack to come towards her once more. The person bowed deeply, and removed the hood, revealing a face covered with multiple scars.. and a tattoo. "I apologize... I saw you training, I heard you mumbling about the jutsu.. I thought.. well if you knew it was coming it wouldn't have worked. I was trying to help."

Demi stared at the man for a moment, eyebrow raising. "Very well. You did indeed help me realize I could fight through your genjutsu.. and since that was a help instead of a hinderance I won't kill you. But, do something like that again and I won't spare you."

With those words said she watched her 'helper' run off, disappearing from view shortly afterwards. She turned Auspex off once more, pausing only long enough to make sure no one else was around, before taking off, aiming for her hotel room and her nice big comfy bed. A decent bit of sleep after all that studying and training was exactly what she was going to need.
