Inspired by the Seven Head Serpent, the Orochi rely on own their own power and their own body to become the snake that the god of legends failed to be. If raw power won't cut it, their cunning intellect will aid them.

Hebi Path: Fūinjutsu

Those walking the path of Hebi are the real 'serpents' among the Ouroboros. Dirty tricks, hidden agendas, sealed weapons and allies springing to their aid out of nowhere… Any trick is a good trick if it makes them achieve their goals.

Kuchiri Path: Genjutsu

The vipers of the clan are the least known branch and specialize their skills in the craft of illusions. They often have strong hypnotic powers and lull their prey into submission before consuming them whole.

Elements: Doton & Suiton (Suggested)

Most historical members of the Ouroboros have been found closely tied in with the earth and water elements. Mud is a very homey place for most snakes. Everything that compliments their primal nature comes to them more easily. But every few generations an oddball escapes the clans usual preferences by feeling drawn to other elemental affinities.


Clan History:

The beginning of the Ouroboros Clan goes back to the dark ages of the shinobi world and is veiled in both secrecy and legend.

According to the clan's own tenets and written legends, the first shinobi with the typical characteristics and bearings of the snake clan, was Orochi Ryu. A man who was believed to be born in the very land of snakes and had been found a scholar in the ways of the legendary 'Great White Snake' himself.

He had become different compared to normal humans, it is said that he was of pale white skin and developed further traits in his appearance that resembled more these serpent creatures than his former human self, obtaining slit eyes and even the long slithery tongue of their kin.

Yet, despite his inhuman appearance, the man founded a family with a young woman that shared similar experiences in the land of snakes, she was named Hebi Maru. While she had been blessed with many talents and skills from her serpent teachers she did not develop many physical changes to her appearance. Together they had three children, Ako, Sano and Rika.

These three would eventually become the prodical origins of the three branches. While all were blessed with the serpent genes of their father and the serpent skills of their mother, the tendencies over which path their parents had taken was favored would differ between the children. Ako, as the oldest son would become the fathers heir and obtain most of Ryu's physical traits while learning little about his mothers secret techniques.

Sano, the second son, would be far more intrigued by his mothers skills in the secret snake arts and the ability to whisper his will into the serpents ears to make them follow his very whim. While Rika, their youngest and only daughter, would be the least connected to their parents characteristics, instead finding her own path between the physical and technical approaches, creating the mental path of the snake family that was utterly skilled with illusions and trickery.

Due to traditions, Ako's children from the Orochi branch would mostly be regarded as the head family and the legacy of the firstborn, while Sano's children of the Hebi branch actually preferred to act from the shadows. Letting the attention given to their elder cousins work as distraction while they controlled everything of importance. No one ever remembers Rika's children of the Kuchiri branch, because they moved through history and erased all knowledge of their existence for a long time, using their skills in illusions to become completely invisible with no desire for power or control other than their very unique way of survival through become one with the void.

In the days before the foundation of the hidden villages, the Ouroboros clan was one of the first to ally with the Senju clan and although their number was rather small, they were proud and powerful shinobi, who were well respected within the alliance's ranks. Their branches having given raise to many unique talents that the growing leaf was very interested to call their own during their formation.

To the Orochi's demise, they were yet given little actual influence within the leaf's power regiment, but the Hebi and Kuchiri welcomed this development, allowing the sneaky branches to operate in their own ways and once again rely further on trickery and deception to obtain power than the casual ways available.

Either of the branches would give birth to a multitude of highly skilled shinobi, not rarely would they rise in ranks quickly and make wonderful spies and assassins during the first ages of ANBU even up until today.

However, the clan's name has not rarely been tarnished within their own home as from their blood many villains would grow and eventually give them a bad reputation among their leaf brethren. Even until today one does not easily trust a snake. As for they all fear that if one turns away from them, they will exploit your weakness and make you pay.

While the branches of the Ouroboros have developed different unique skills, they all have certain things in common. Primarily that they date back their seemingly supernatural skills to an age where their forefathers were seemingly more snake than human, their twisted genetics bearing the mark of their reptile-like ancestors, gaining their traits but also their weaknesses.

Advantages:

• Born Genius
  Their clan became famous not necessarily for their unusual physique but rather for their unnatural skill and superior talent in their genetically inherited master specialization. Becoming the most skilled of shinobi in their fields as they tend to outrun and surpass their competitors quite easily with their talent.
  
  Ouroboros members receive a 20% WC and Ryo discount into their primary specialization derived from their family branch.
  
  
  
• Snake Senses
  Due to snakes natural shortcoming with their eyes, they are usually quicker to act on instinct and have their other senses sharpened, especially in reaction towards potential danger.
  
  They gain a free passive +1 tier boost to their Reaction Time.
  
  
  
• Snake Physics
  The Ouroboros are generally faster than normal humans and move in ways that often reminds more towards a slithery reptile rather than a human being.
  
  They gain the 'Agile' positive SC per default.
  
  
  
• Cold Blooded
  A reminder of their snake skin still lingers in their pigmentation and pores. Their bodies are naturally more resilient against fire, this is further enhanced by their cold blood that pumps through their veins.
  
  Katon element interacts 1 rank weaker against them.
  

Drawbacks:

• Gifted Boredom
  While their branch unlocks their hidden potential and insane talent towards one specific specialization, they are normally well versed with the skills of their sister branches but horribly lack interest and skill with specs that are rather uncommon to their family. Since the origins of their creation is most likely given birth to be Senjutsu it is an exclusion of this rule.
  
  Taijutsu, Chakra Flow and Kugutsu will receive a 15% WC and Ryo increase if one shall choose to pursue one of these paths.
  
  
  
• Snake Eyes
  The serpent clan suffers from the same short coming as their animal counterparts, their eyes, with or without slit pupils just don't see as well as those of normal shinobi. Also their hearing is supposedly not the best either.
  
  They suffer a penalty of -1 tier to their Perception.
  
  
  
• Snake Pride
  The Ouroboros are prideful creatures. Powerful, cunning, seemingly unlimited in body and potential. Because of this, they believe they do not need the whole world of options to prove themselves as superior and have been widely known to simply slack out on training towards their elemental skills.
  
  They must take the 'Hesitant (Element)' negative SC per default.
  
  
  
• Cold blooded
  It's good having cold blood against the warmth and to protect against fire, but rather bad if one is attacked by techniques that even further cool ones body and skin. Ice is certainly one of the snake clan's greatest weaknesses.
  
  Hyōton element interacts 1 rank stronger against them.
  

Aesthetic Traits:

• Serpent Heritage
  Uncaring of branch, all children of the Ouroboros bloodline will find reminders of their heritage within the very mirror in front of them. Be it scales on their skin. Unusually pale pigmentation. Sharp pointy teeth. Unnaturally long tongues or the most common trait, slit shaped pupils in their eyes. Orochi seem to be especially often victim of the physical traits while the sub branches Hebi and Kuchiri are less cursed, or blessed.
  
  All Ouroboros must choose a distinctive physical trait that shows part of their serpent genetics in their general appearance.
