Clan History:
- Warring State:
- The Ishiku Clan was one of the founding clans of Iwagakure, and one of the main building families to construct its now masonic layout. They are most notable for only carrying one name, and extending their bloodline passed their clans reach and into some families in Iwagakure with a legitimate KKG. They were well known in the Warring States Period for their unparalleled use of shurikenjutsu. The Ishiku Clan were not born as shinobi or kunoichi in the traditional sense, as they are not great ninjutsu utilizers, so they survived through the war-torn era by crafting and utilizing high end weapons as they also sold to other clans and lands. While people were busy fighting for survival, land and power with fists, the Ishiku Clan gained all the aforementioned from trading weapons and tools and fighting with them through long range tactics. Unlike most clans who served whoever paid the most, the Ishiku Clan partnered and remained loyal to neighboring clans. The Ishiku Clan eventually became the inhabitants of a small land between the Land of Wind and Stone, and later members of the clan have held the prestigious rank of Tsuchikage.
During the peak of the warring era (Warring States Period, c. 250 - 50 BN), the clan created a number of shuriken and senbon to establish a fighting style that needed no specialization, an unnamed Hiden in the form of Shurikenjutsu. The Ishiku Clan eventually helped found and settled in Iwagakure, shortly after Konohagakure was founded. Due to the massive military power they possessed, they were pretty much the de facto soldiers of Iwagakure. The clan later settled into Nakatsukawa, in an attempt to keep more soldier-like civilians near the Damyo. After some investing by the clan in mining raw materials for the sake of their melee weapons for shurikenjutsu, the clan found themselves with a surplus of the metals. Making a deal with Kirigakure to sell precious metal caused an economic boom that saw an influx of new migrants into the Nakatsukawa. Thus was born the reputation for Iwagakure as a wealthy village and the Ishiku clan as the wealthiest clan within the village. Metals used in the trade to Kirigakure consisted of the materials needed to create seven prestigious swords. These swords came to be known as the Swords of The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist in the near the future. These legendary grade materials were traded in the market for exorbitant prices, high enough to turn the Ishiku clan from a struggling clan, into one of the richest clans overnight.
- World War 1:
- Much to the delight of the Ishiku, a war between Five Great Countries broke out. Iwagakure turned into a machine of war for the exact same reason it became a trading behemoth; its raw materials. Iwagakure strongly benefitted from the war, so the Ishiku were indifferent about the havoc caused. They even celebrated secretly when their village declared war as it eased the sells of weapons and multiplied their revenue.
The clan reached its peak during the First Shinobi World War. The first world war began, because the world was convinced that Konohagakure no sato was readying for war as they were amassing Tailed Beasts, so the Iwagakure government ordered the shinobis and kunoichi to mobilize, and appealed to Sunagakure no sato for assistance. Sunagakure no sato failed to assist, so on the summer of that same year, Iwagakure declared war on Konohagakure, and the tenuous short lived peace between the shinobi worlds great powers quickly collapsed. Within a week, Iwagakure, Sunagakure, Konohagakure and even Kumogakure had lined up against each other, and World War I had begun. The Ishiku were known in the first shinobi war due to a battle called the ‘Southern Front’ where a number of the clansmen were hand selected by the Tsuchikage to create a faction of the Iwa army. The clan gained notoriety because of an aggressive military strategy known as the Ishigakure Plan, to establish a land named Ishigakure no sato (石隠れの里, Hidden Rock Village) or Village Hidden in Stones as a standing hidden village of the country located between the Land of Earth and the Land of Wind to act as a buffer in case of war between Iwagakure and Sunagakure. The masterminds that created this idea were the Ishiku Clan, having Iwagakure begin fighting the war on two fronts, invading to establish Ishigakure through neutral zones in the south and confronting Konohagakure in the east through Takigakure, Kusagakure, and Amegakure.
On the second day of the first war, the Ishiku Clan crossed the border into the newly formed Ishigakure, named after their invaders and as a territory of Iwagakure. In the first battle of the First Shinobi World War, the Ishiku Clan assaulted the heavily fortified neutral zone between the Land of Wind and the Land of Stone, using the most powerful weapons in their arsenal—enormous shurikens—to capture the village in a matter of hours. Leaving death and destruction in their wake, including the imprisonment of anti-takeover civilians and the execution of Sunagakure forces in a covert mission to prevent the siege, whom have been accused of inciting civilian resistance. With this win, Iwagakure advanced through Ishigakure and defended against Sunagakure no sato. Their success was long lived, as even after the war, the zone taken over was established as the clans district, who was then a peace seeker shortly after the war ended. Some of those who survived the war ended up migrating back into the village of Iwagakure while a majority stayed behind.
However, not everything went exactly as planned. Countless Ishiku were slayed in the battle of the Southern Front, although to their benefit, the surviving clansmen had new property after the intense war. Because of its strategic location, Ishigakure was molded into a trading centre with the Ishiku’s weapon trading as a core business in conjunction with Iwagakure raw materials. After the Shinobi War, Ishigakure enjoyed great success as it served as the neutral trading centre for Iwagakure to make dealings.
- World War 2:
- The Shinobi World War II, also called Second Shinobi War, was a conflict that involved virtually every part of the shinobi world during its tenure. The principal belligerents were the main powers—Konohagakure, Sunagakure, Kumogakure and Iwagakure—and the lesser powers— like Amegakure and the Land of Sky primarily, and, to a lesser extent, other minor villages. The war was in many respects a continuation, after an uneasy 20-year hiatus, of the disputes left unsettled by the first shinobi war. Economic disparity caused the dealings that brought to fruit the tailed beasts powers to all the major villages and one lucky minor village created resentment amongst the major and minor villages that felt they got the worst end of the deal. Iwagakure no sato as a village was collectively bitter about the death of their 2nd Tsuchikage in the hands of Kirigakures Mizukage, so was was more or less inevitable between the pair. The Ishiku clan again amassed a reputation for wartime strategic maneuvering when they planned and successfully took part in a pact with Kumogakure to attempt an invasion on Kirigakure.
The mission itself was unsuccessful, but the strategy was so prestein that the clan received recognition by the Iwagakure council and named the strategy, the Ishiku Initiative. The Ishiku Initiative was a plan brought out in the outbreak of war. By the early part of the war the Ishiku clan had convinced and had made the Tsuchikage Onoki determined to invade and occupy Kirigakure, even going as far as to partner with criminal organizations to do so. Kirigakure, for its part, had guarantees from Konohagakure and Sunagakure to provide military support should it be attacked by Iwagakure to prevent the land of stone from cultivating too much power. The Ishiku clan intended to invade Kirigakure anyway, but first the Tsuchikage had to neutralize the possibility that Kumogakure would join the other villages and would resist the invasion of its southern neighbour. Secret negotiations led by the Ishiku clan and the Raikage followed with the signing of the Iwa-Kumo Nonaggression Pact in the Land of Clouds. In a secret protocol of this pact, Iwagakure and Kumogakure agreed that Kirigakure should be divided between them, with the western third of the country going to Kumo and the eastern two-thirds being taken over by Iwagakure.
The Ishiku clan attempted to sneak into Kumogakure and travelled covertly for many miles, but when landing inside of Kagerō Village, they were ambushed by Team Hiruzen. This severely hampered there capabilities to continue their path so they stayed behind as undercovers, waging war against Konohagakure in the small village utilizing explosive tags to fight using unorthodox methods. The Ishiku clan fought in ways that can only be defined as political violence in an asymmetrical conflict that is designed to induce terror and psychic fear, through the violent victimization and destruction of noncombatant targets. Such acts are meant to send a message. The purpose of this type of message is to exploit the weakness in an otherwise larger army in order to achieve maximum attainable efficiency. The battle against the Third Hokages team was too much and while the battle was over, Takigakure with suspected guidance from the leaf ambushed Kagero for the second time, this time wiping out the population and all but a small platoon of Ishiku clansmen who returned to Ishigakure no sato to tell their story of the fight. This small conflict didnt have much information come to light, and was looked as an act of war by the already powerful Konohakure no sato in an attempt to gather resources. This gave Iwagakure the opportunity to strike Konoha alongside but not allied with Sunagakure in order to weaken Konoha. The battle didn’t go further than Amegakure.
- World War 3:
- The 3rd shinobi World War nearly made the Ishiku clans shinobi/kunoichi faction practically extinct. A plan by the Ishiku clan was constructed in order to take of Konohagakure no sato, and the plan was fairly simple. The strategy was in short called, the Lightning War strategy, the strategy is a military tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces and locally concentrated melee firepower. Its successful execution results in short military campaigns, which preserves human lives and limits the expenditure of weapons. Ishiku forces tried out the lightning war to establish Ishigakure in the first world war, considering it as a successfully employed tactic which resulted in an invasion. The second world war ended with a win on Konohagakures side, but Iwgakure and especially the Ishiku clan were not satisfied by this outcome. Konohagakure and Iwagakure fought across Kusagakure after the latter had infiltrated it in order to lay siege to the border of the Land of Fire.
It was not until the destruction of the Kannabi Bridge, and the link to the Ishiku clans weapons supply, that the war began turning in Konoha's favour. As the lightning war was successfully catching the Konoha forces off guard. The Iwa-Kumo Pact forced Kumogakure to join the battle as they fought Konoha in small skirmishes here and there. The battle that nearly caused the extinction of the Ishiku clans fighting force was shortly after the war called, The Battle of the Yellow Flash. The battle was the successful Konoha defense of the Land of Fire by Minato Namikaze, during World War III. Konoha considers it to be the greatest battle of their Great Wars, and most historians consider it to be the greatest battle of the entire conflict. It stopped the Ishiku advance into the Land of Fire and marked the turning of the tide of war in favor of Konoha. The Battle of the Yellow Flash was one of the bloodiest battles in history, with combined shinobi and kunoichi casualty reaching 1,000 of the Ishiku clansmens. The ninjas that survived simply said that they saw “nothing, but a ‘yellow flash,’” hence the name of the battle.
- World War 4:
- Known as the two day world, did not see much of the Ishiku clan as they did not have enough time to strategize or implement any meaningful tactic as it was considered by them, a ‘war amongst gods.’ The Ishiku clan was placed with the First Division under a Kumogakure shinobi named Darui, and they were placed there because of their shurikenjutsu capabilities being needed in a platoon that specialized in mid to long range combat with primarily bukijutsu users. The Ishiku clan completed the entire 3rd subdivision in the wars 1st division as the first divisions earth elementary users. Many casualties came upon the Ishiku clan, but it was nothing compared to that of the lives lost in the second and third shinobi world war.
