Constructions at the manor. A logical thing to do considering the state the manor was in, even if Haka disliked the idea of having to protect the human workers to begin with. To her, humans were an unevolved species, and thus having them being eaten by spiders would be their own pitiful fate. The increase in spiders going rogue, however, was a worrisome thought for the Unmei. They were not just a danger to themselves but also to the entire Spider clan as a whole. Just for that reason alone, Haka had agreed to deal with them as good as she possibly could. There was no saying how many of them would possibly cause a threat to the workers, but she considered herself prepared for the worse.

Taking out a pirate's eye patch with a little kitten on it, she pulled it over her right eye and formed the spider and bird hand seals. Throwing up a black ball of chakra the size of her own fist, it shaped itself into an eye and floated a three meters above her head. Granting her a 360° vision, Haka felt a little more comfortable holding watch by her own, waiting for her partner to show up. She didn't know Chigetsu that well, aside from the fact he had seemed interested in her vanilla pudding, and was uncertain what to expect from the boy on terms of elements and power alike, or even fears for that matter. As she moved to hide herself out of plain sight, she told herself she'd have to ask him about his abilities so that she could work on a proper plan for the two to make the best out of their cooperative power. Even if he was a human, she would not allow him to ruin a potentially perfect execution and conclusion of this 'protection mission'.

Hiding in a nearby dead tree, the spider-nin overlooked the area, watching how the human workers continued the constructions as they regularly peeked over their shoulders and mumbled about the child being rather eerie. Neither her, nor her aura, cared much for the cowardice of the humans, solemnly and dutifully executing the task they had come for.

Constructions at the manor. Still a completely foreign place, but the act of rebuilding humanized the eerie mansion in a way. It was necessary to latch on to something familiar as an anchor point when in such a dark and foreboding setting. The art of architecture was just as foreign to him as this island was, despite his heritage, but even then, the presence of the workers was comforting. It was part of the reason that he had agreed to take such a mission in the first place. A bastion of mundanity was comforting in swirling tides.

Despite how he viewed it as a comfort, Chigetsu was not the most punctual in his arrival. His entry to the area designated for construction was delayed for three long minutes past what had been agreed on. Perhaps it was within the realm of an acceptable delay but made for a poor impression either way. The scruffy male approached the scene with an appearance that wasn't likely to help with his reputation either. Damp white hair went out in every direction, clearly in need of an intense session of brushing. Perhaps his reputation would be a bit easier to defend if it didn't look like he just woke up. The dark bags under his eyes unfortunately made it impossible to deflect though, as Chigetsu did in fact just wake up. That the sun was already well into the sky made this even more inexcusable.

Audaciously, the messy haired teenager would take a position in front of the toiling workers while releasing a large yawn. He stood about five meters in front of their operation, preferring to operate closer to what he was supposed to protect. At first glance he would seem as unprepared physically for the mission as he seemed mentally, lacking any sort of combat gear other than the clothing he wore. As he settled into position this illusion would be shattered, the male very casually shoving his right hand directly into his chest. His fingers would seem to sink into his form, what should be solid flesh almost jiggling as he dug his fingers inside. From the depths of what surely should have been his left lung a kunai would be produced, held right in his right hand. It was a slender and attractive weapon, polished over to give it a matte black sheen that almost seemed to blend together with the blackness of his shirt. A standard issue Kirigakure Tactical Kunai. It was likely recognizable due to how common place it was, gaining a reputation as a superior weapon that demanded respect. Respect from all but Chigetsu apparently, as immediately after producing it the sharp edge of the blade would be pressed behind his ear. Somehow, he was using the tip to scratch at an itch.

"Well?" The proximity of the voice startled him. His eyes would shoot wide for a moment as the kunai spoke to him, a strange sensation that sent vibrations through his body. Slowly the blade would be removed from his ear, Chigetsu looking down at it with now squinted eyes. "Well?" He would mumble back, half responding under his breath. The he spoke in such a manner to his weapons wasn't something that he was normally so willing to casually do. After the first few times of discovering that ot,hers couldn't hear them Chigetsu had learned better. It attracted unwanted attention. Now his lack of sleep was weakening his sense of judgement though, so he spoke back in gentle whispers. "You have a partner. Aren't you going to apologize for your carelessness?"

Tired red eyes flickered over to the barren forests. In the dead, leafless trees Haka wasn't exactly difficult to spot. If it wasn't the color of her charming outfit contrasting against the lifeless trees that gave her away she would still be noticeable just from the chill that Chigetsu had run down his spine once he approached. He would state at her for a moment before looking back down to his kunai. "No. I'm tired of apolo-" "Indolence will be your downfall, Child." He would pause. Chigetsu would try for a moment to think of how to respond, squinting his eyes down at the weapon in frustration. "I don't know what that word means."

Apparently, the word meant reluctant recognition of defeat.

Ending his lapse in perception, Chigetsu would begin a concentrated effort to actually watch for danger and fufil the nature of the mission. As it would be foolish to divide his attention in such a manner as to go and do as the kunai willed him to while watching, the male would do the next best thing. A small puddle would form in the ground around him, ambient moisture combining with fluids that seemed to drip from the soles of his shoes. The liquid would rise and take form, revealing itself as a water clone. Chigetsu would keep watch near the workers, while the clone would approach the girl's position.

The walk over took perhaps a bit longer than it should have. The clone was as Chigetsu was, uneager. The duty of following his kunai's instructions were for all intents and purposes passed off, delegated to a clone so the real Chigetsu wouldn't have to deal with it. So, there might have been a little feet dragging. A few meters off from the base of the tree the clone would look up, looking at the girl hiding herself in the branches. The eye floating above her head would get a silent glance.

"So... Spiders?" He would brush his hair back now, suddenly aware of how messy his appearance was. It wasn't exactly the best icebreaker but dealing with conversational etiquette seemed like waste of breath at the moment. "Are they poisonous?"  The description he was given of what exactly he was supposed to be protecting these builders from was brief. Other than 'big spoidahs' Chigetsu was more or less ignorant. "I'm not used to dealing with them. If they're really big though, I bet they would make for a good dinner afterwards. I've never eaten a spider before, but I bet they taste like lobster."

Stepping into view was Chigetsu, one of the few strangers of Death Camp that had greeted her when she was eating pudding. From the looks of it, the man was still half asleep, bags under his eyes, hair all over the place, and obviously not feeling a need to show any sign of vivid anticipation. Haka guessed he didn't feel all too comfortable here in Spider Island, and his question seemed to reflect that analysis. Were they poisonous? Yes, and much more. The spiders of Spider Island were real terrors. The size of cars, venomous and able to spit webbing. They were hungry, relentless and driven only by their predatory instinct, unshackled by human principles. Admittedly, they were also limited in their versatility and creativity in taking down their prey.

"Spiders are venomous, huge and deadly. They are not very filling."

A brief but accurate explanation. This was considered a C rank mission. Imagining them as small household spiders would be a grave mistake. Their size would, however, not mean much on terms on feeding. As a spider living on the island herself, she had known moments of starvation. No humans passing by, insects too small a meal for the growing wolf spider. In such times, instinct drove her, like many others, to hunt her own kin. She couldn't say if it tasted like lobster, but it certainly didn't fill as good as more fleshy creatures. She wouldn't fault Chigetsu for trying to find nourishment though. If he killed them, it was his right to eat them. She knew for certain that she was not hungry enough to eat her own kin. She would instead prefer to torch their corpses, but the power of fire was not yet at her disposal as finding a wild fire to take its powers for her own had thus far proven to be rather difficult in misty Kirigakure.

After a little while, chittering could be heard at the edges, spiders still lurking out of sight in between the dark branches and covered in the island's mist, drawn closer by the thought of being able to feed upon the tasty fleshy creatures making such a ruckus during their job. Haka then jumped out of the tree she had climbed in, brushed her white hair away vainly and closed her eyes a brief moment before she looked at Chigetsu's clone.

"Chigetsu ready? Food is coming.", she said with her typical apathy, making it hard to distinguish if she was serious about the boy eating spiders or just continuing the jest. The first of hungry spiders would soon reveal their presence, beady eyes empty of souls, maws agape in anticipation of the food they soon aimed to taste. Hairy legs easily twice the size of a human arm inched closer, bulging bodies following soon. One by one, from various places, giant spiders crawled closer, the first couple of several waves that would crash upon the constructors. No longer remaining passive, Haka took out a black velveted scroll, bit her thumb and used the inkling of colourless blood as price to call upon the only way she knew to slightly even the odds.

"Kuchiyose no Jutsu"

Ameya, a member of the Spider clan, with which she had a contract, seemed to appear out of Haka's shadow. Part spider, part human, everything about her betrayed the only purpose she was made for: assassinations. Without a word, her tiny shape awaited the spider-nin's instructions, her cold eyes looking in the direction her summoner was gazing. With the summon companion keeping watch, Haka looked back at Chigetsu's clone once more.

"Chigetsu has tactics?"

"Spiders are venomous, huge and deadly. They are not very filling."

It was an answer that disappointed Chigetsu somewhat, an emotion that was clearly visible on his face. As he had overslept there was no opportunity for him to eat any breakfast before taking this mission, and so his belly was unfortunately empty. At the very least she had mentioned that they were venomous and not poisonous, which meant that Chigetsu likely wasn't going to die if he ate them afterwards. Filling or not, anything edible in his stomach would be better than nothing. Although admittedly the risk of getting the sort of strange disease from eating them did cross his mind. Turning into some sort of strange were-spider wasn't something Chigetsu particularly wanted to do, and that was if he didn't just drop dead from it.

The slight chittering wasn't something that escaped his notice though. The clone's eyes would dart over in the direction of the forests that surrounded the manner, flickering back and forth between where the noises seemed to be emanating from. Chigetsu had never really heard the noises that a spider made before. His experience with them previous to this had mostly been dusting old cobwebs away, but given the nature of both the island they were on and the mission itself he had to assume that they were what these chitters were coming from. It was strangely surreal. He had thought they would be quieter.

"Chigetsu ready? Food is coming."

"I'm ready. I didn't expect them to be so loud though." His eyes would shine over to the wave of spiders that revealed themselves. While unable to be the most analytical in his barely awake state Chigetsu would still instinctively scan over them. How hairy they were probably wouldn't be a problem. He wouldn't have to shave them, just crack open their exoskeletons... Maybe boil them in some hot water like the way lobsters are eaten? It probably would have been the best idea if it wasn't so unfeasible. He had no way to boil that much water or a pot big enough to hold even one. Haka's jump down from the tree would snap him out of his hunger induced thinking, and he would turn to look at her once again. Particular attention would be paid to the scroll she retrieved. Fuuinjutsu was beyond Chigetsu's understanding, although was very curious. Her Summoning Jutsu would be observed closely by the clone. Her strange colorless blood would be glanced at, although quickly all of his attention was directed towards the strange creature that silently crawled from the girl's shadows. Whatever it was it appeared like some unnatural cross between a spider and human, entirely arachnid from the waist down but with a strangely humanoid upper torso. Chigetsu had many questions, but he figured this maybe wasn't the best time to ask. Or the best person to ask, all things considered. Rather than ask at all, Chigetsu would instead just answer what Haka had asked of him.

"I like to stab and be stabbed. Close range with weapons is what I'm good at. I'll be able to protect you if any get too close." Turning away from Haka as he spoke, the Chigetsu clone would squint his eyes as he watched the incoming spiders approach. "Honestly, this is a situation I'm weak in. I'm not the best in group fights. I like one on one bette--" Cut off mid-sentence, the clone would look back in shock. The real Chigetsu would have his arm and kunai raised up to the sky, letting out some sort of animalistic battle cry in the direction of the spiders. The clone could only watch in shock, completely taken off guard by the actions of its creator. As the battle cry ended the original would bring his arm down, leveling it towards the closest of the approaching spiders. His arm would extend in a sudden burst, taking on the form of an octopus tentacle. The sudden rushing of a cephalopod limb from where his arm had previously been seemed to surprise the massive spider he was directing it at. Even with how surprising it was initially, moving out of the way of a head-on attack like that wasn't difficult. With those eight limbs it was able to move to the side from the stretching tentacle, if just barely getting out of the way. The extended tentacle was a prehensile limb though, rather than a projectile. After the tip passed by the arachnid it would twist, curving around the entire creature like some sort of slimy lasso. The loop would be tightened immediately once the tentacle curved entirely around, catching the eight legs of the creature tight and hog-tying them together under the creature, knocking it off its feet. What followed would be the sound intense arachnid screeching as Chigetsu struggled to retract his right arm tentacle, dragging with significant difficulty the spider through the grass towards him. While the spider was massive and rather heavy, dragging it through the slick grasses wasn't impossibly difficult. The spider thrashing about likely didn't help, but with the suction from the tentacle cups and how the spider was off its feet made it easier. Despite the size of these monsters they didn't seem to be nearly as strong as they looked. Chigetsu was able to overpower its strength without much difficulty, even only using one tentacle. The sheer weight was the only real problem. Once he managed to drag it backward through the grass and dirt around five meters it would be put to its end. From the tentacle what must have been a dozen blades would emerge. They extended from the limb halfway, kunai blades coming out like spikes from its skin and piercing into the struggling spider's legs.

After a bit of twisting and sawing with kunai all of the spider's legs would be separated from its body. Once they were removed the still living torso would be knocked aside, pushed upside down. His attention would turn to the other spiders. Some of the wave had continued on with their ascent, ignoring the struggling of the one that Chigetsu had caught and attempting to close the distance. The separated spider limbs would be tossed at these, thrown like clumsy weapons with his spiked tentacle before Chigetsu would extend it once again towards the next. His left arm would be added into this, a tentacle that matched his right.

Unsure of what to do exactly, Chigetsu's clone would turn back towards Haka almost as if it were embarrassed. "U-Uh... He should distract them and keep them away from us."

The clone remained casual during the approaching horde, telling her he didn't expected the spiders to be so loud. It was an odd statement in the ears of the spider-nin, who not only was used to them, but found them not to be all that talkative in comparison to the average human. All they said were simple words as, "Look", "food" and "yum". She did not expect the human to understand their language, but even she was fairly certain the boy had heard more noice than their chittering.

When she prepared her own technique to deal with the spiders, and requested for tactics, the clone explained her he was mostly a front fighter type, unlike herself who mostly aimed at ranged attacks and the use of summons to keep them occupied. She even had a technique to slow down the advance of her charging opponents to that extend. Contradictory to his explanation, the original Chigetsu cried out, suppressing all the surrounding chittering for a brief moment, and grew a long tentacle of the sort Haka had never seen before. As it pierced the lingering mist, it struck one of the lurking spiders and started to drag it closer. Helplessly, it screeched in agony, making Haka roll her eyes at its pleading cry for mercy. Its display of weakness disgusted her, but her stoic face would betray no emotion as Chigetsu's hauling continued. The clone then suggested 'he' would have to keep them away from them, at which Haka nodded. She could approve of this tactic, as it would allow Ameya to deliver the killing blow onto those that were trapped while Haka could strike them from afar with her kunai.

"Stabbing is good.", she said upon revealing an obsidian kunai herself and attaching it to a string of chakra. With that done, she ordered Ameya in the same chittering language as the spiders around them, telling her to kill those spiders the tentacles would grab so as to swiftly deal with them, granting Chigetsu the option to grab others at a faster rate for a more efficient approach. Knowing what to do, the Black Widow retreated in the shadows to weave her own web from which she would strike, leaving Haka and the clone by themselves. As the first spider's leg were scattered about and Chigetsu finished off the first spider, the others started their advance. Like a zombie outbreak, the whole area was suddenly filled with her hungry siblings rushing in to grab the meaty humans that would make a most succulent meal.

"Come.", Haka commanded to the clone next to her, running off to tackle the other side of the constructions as that would be Chigetsu's blind spot. Jumping up and over the construction site, she spotted a spider mid-air and threw her kunai straight at its body, using the chakra string to puppet her weapon with meticulous precision. As she landed on the other side of the construction site, the kunai pierced the spider's head and as it screeched out in painful death, she pulled back her weapon with a flick of her hand and eyed the second spider approaching them from the back. Throwing her kunai at the second, she would question the clone again in case he had followed her, "Chi-clone can fight?". As the weapon neared its target, she played the chakra string in such a way the blade would slice off the front four legs f the spider to stop its advance, but as another one was already jumping in front to surpass the fallen arachnid, Haka was obliged to leave the crippled spider for what it was and aim for that eager one instead. Though Haka hated not finishing off her 'prey', the instructions had been clear: the human workers had to be protected, and thus preventing them from reaching them was of a greater priority than killing them swiftly.

Chigetsu had been fighting a losing battle with the spiders from the beginning. In a direct comparison Chigetsu was superior to them in just about every way. His strength was enough to easily overpower one with only a single tentacle-arm, and with the ten kunai he had it wasn't too difficult to turn a pin into an execution. His ignorance of spider anatomy prevented any sort of efficiency in killing them though, and so his usual targets would be the joints and eyes. The spurts of web that they occasionally launched at him would be an annoyance at best, all the threads broken without any difficulty. With the range advantage he had the entire thing should have been easy. It was the numbers that erased all of those advantages that Chigetsu had though. Rending the spiders apart wasn't a problem individually, but with there being more than he could focus on it was just a matter of time until he got overwhelmed.

Getting shot with one, two, three, four layers of the webbing stalled his attack though. The layers would be only enough to restrict his movements for a few seconds before tearing them away, but those moments were invaluable. The spider he had in caught in the slimy grasp of his right arm had managed to wretch itself out of his grasp, managing to counteract the suction of his tentacles by simply sacrificing the limbs that they were attached to. Weakly it crawled away in retreat with its three remaining legs.

In the time before the horde closed the distance Chigetsu was able to tear apart eight of the spiders, a total of four with each arm that had been dismantled. A good-sized chunk of what had rushed forward, but it felt much less now that they were closing in. The actions of Ameya greatly assisted in this. While Chigetsu nearly was about to attempt to ensnare her in the same manner as the other spiders once he saw her the drider's assassination of the spider he had been wrestling with his tentacle dissuaded him from that idea. She was ultimately much more efficient than Chigetsu was in killing these things, who wasn't aware of where spider vital organs were located, or if they even had vital organs.

After closing the initial distance two spiders would come down on Chigetsu simultaneously. A flurry of pincer fangs crash down into the male, who was still focusing on rampaging his tentacles through the spiders that remained behind. He made no movement to dodge or get out of the way of their attacks. Their pincers would slice through his flesh, ripping bloody gashes into his shoulder and face.

The pincer wounds did not phase Chigetsu. The lines of blood that now dripped diagonally down his face and across his left shoulder were ignored completely. The only indication that he was even paying attention to the spiders that had bit him was a polite smile, which he directed at them for a moment before looking beyond them and continuing the ravaging of their kin. As the spiders reared their pincers again for another go at the male he would remain unfaltering. No matter how many times they bit into him and ripped apart his body with their pincers Chigetsu would not flinch. He would allow them to entertain themselves as long as they wished, only occasionally moving so they didn’t close off his field of vision. Even if the spiders could overwhelm him with numbers, what did it matter? Even with how poor he was in splitting his focus, he could be fighting a hundred or a thousand of these creatures and there would be no difference.

The clone would meanwhile be with Haka. It seemed almost unnerved as it watched the original Chigetsu's confident bloodlust and massacre. Given how frail she seemed it would be natural that he followed after her, especially when she had asked him specifically to come with her. He wouldn't bother to respond to the ridiculous question she had asked though. As soon as the combat with this second wave of spiders commenced he would throw himself to the front lines. The clone would stretch his right arm out, its forearm elongating and shifting until from the elbow up had been replaced with the blade of a katana. The blade-limb would be swung forward into the head of an approaching arachnid, splitting a gash down its exoskeleton and piercing into what he assumed would be its brain. It would drop like a sack of potatoes afterwards. "I'll try to keep between you and any that get too close. Even if I'm a clone, I'm durable enough."

The screeches of pain and terror coming from Chigetsu's side was a chaotic symphony as he tore in them one by one with Ameya running in and out to deliver the merciful killing blow. However, the large amount of the horde was too much to deal with at once, and neither Chi nor Ameya had any techniques to deal with the masses. As some of the spiders reached Chigetsu, biting away at his physique, Ameya would not bother to come to aid. The assassin never did. Self-preserving as she was, she expected Chigetsu to deal with his troubles on his own while she dealt with hers. And so he did, in a very strange fashion of disinterest, seemingly uncaring about the wounds he was suffering.

Feeling no longer the need to keep an eye on Chigetsu, Haka dropped her sensory technique and removed the eye patch she was wearing while puppeting her onyx dagger. Tucking the eye patch away, she sliced the closing spider's legs off, leaving it crawl further while the Chi-clone committed to slaying another of her kin with a self-created blade arm. By the time she had tucked away her eye patch, she noticed the remaining horde charging in, making a swift count of six bodies more on top of the two already crippled specimen. Too scattered and too many to deal with efficiently, Haka frowned at the thought that she too was lacking any decent technique to deal with several targets at once, forced to rely on a puppeted kunai to remain at range while her summon assisted Chigetsu. Making a mental note she'd have to do something about that lack of efficiency by working on proper techniques, she jumped aside to dodge the webbing of one of her brethren and retaliated in kind by flicking her kunai in its direction and promptly slaying the creature on the spot.

By the time two of them had reached Chi's clone to 'deal with him' first, Haka had slain another spider with her kunai, pulling it back towards her hands. The two remaining spiders had run passed the clone, straight for the construction works in hopes to crawl on it and find their way to the cowering workers. Dashing behind them, Haka molded chakra within her mouth, which she spit out in the direction of one of them. As the jutsu struck, the spider found itself trapped within a web of a stronger material than its own, unable to move as its body now clung to the construction works it was crawling on. Ignoring that one for now, she moved to find the last one. More cunning than the others, it had disregarded Chi and its clone and was now inching closer to the humans, ready to strike as it contemplated which one it would take out first. With such a choice of meat, it seemed even a spider could have a hard time deciding. As Haka appeared, the cunning arachnid quickly turned around, forced to make a swift decision now that it was in danger, and lunged to bite Haka. At about the same time, Haka felt its venomous fangs bore in her human skin while the creature experienced the sensation of the onyx kunai ripping open its frail body. As the spider died, Haka grit her teeth to endure the poison of her own clan.

Lowering her eyes with a soft sigh, Haka brushed her white hair out of her eyes and left the humans for what they were, looking to find whatever remained of the invasion.

Sliced tendons and torn flesh mended as easily as they were ripped away, the façade of fragility being torn further asunder with each passing moment. Pincers reaching in to slice through skin would find no resistance. There would be none of the normally pleasant ripping and shredding. No resistance was given, with chitin simply passing through as if it were sliding through air. All of the normal aroma and taste of flesh was gone as well. To the spiders ripping away at Chigetsu it was as if they were biting through red water rather than flesh and blood.

And they were. He would be smiling. The wounds caused by their pincers were so shallow. It was so easy for him to liquify them away. Turning his watery form red to mimic blood only added to the illusion. It was little things along those lines that turned an illusion convincing. Making these wounds the spiders gave him look real was enough to keep them occupied while he killed their kin, at the very least. It wouldn't be long until he was able to give them the attention they deserved. His tentacles squirmed in anticipation.

They would flow backwards, twisting and turning as they retracted. Around each spider occupied with his body one would surround. Wrapping about them from the behind would be easy, and very quickly they would be drug away from Chigetsu's body. The kunai spikes extending from his tentacles would be used liberally. Chigetsu was having fun.  Their pincers would be torn off first. The water-soaked fangs would be thrown aside, and then Chigetsu would work towards the other limbs. One by one he would tear them off, sawing through chitin and spider flesh until he was able to twist and pull the hairy legs off. They would be thrown into a neat pile with the pincers. Without the legs to toy with he would just cast the limbless and fangless spiders aside. Without anything to tear off he wouldn't be interested. They would end up bleeding to death at some point anyway.

The invasion path that the spiders had taken was now a mess. Chigetsu's tendency to disable them by ripping their limbs or head clean off was excessively messy, and spider juices now stained the grass field that they had invaded through. Limbs strewn around beside the bodies only added to the sense of carnage. It was a mess. He was glad he wouldn't have to clean it up, even though he was the one largely responsible for making it. The screeching from the spiders he left alive would ring through the air. Whether Ameya decided to put them out of their misery wasn't a concern to him. Their screeching would probably get annoying after a bit, but it would serve as a fantastic warning to any others who tried to get any smart ideas. The invasion force had largely been torn apart though. He gave the entire area another scan to see if there were any more spiders that were a threat to him. Assuming he didn't see anything, he would allow his Celphalophilia jutsu to end. The water used to form the long octopus limbs would fall away from his arms, splashing into the ground. Without any more spiders to distract himself with, Chigetsu would revert to his earlier tiredness. A yawn would pass through his body, and he would reach up to stretch his human arms above his head once again. Everything was good.

"Shouldn't you go check up on your comrade, now that you're done having your fun?" An uncomfortable chill crawled up his spine that stopped his stretch cold. Slowly he would lower his arms from where they were above his head, reaching to rub at his eyes. "Pay more attention to your allies. This is your chance." A bit of grit would be rubbed out of the corner of his eye. More than anything Chigetsu wanted to sleep. "If you make a good impression, there's a chance she'll share her pudding with you." He would turn now, suddenly concerned about where Haka was. Squinting his vision, Chigetsu would turn towards where he had last seen the girl. Once he caught sight of her he would move to approach.

The clone would have been looking cautiously at the girl's wounds, debating internally whether or not to offer assistance. As the real Chigetsu approached it would immediately stand aside though, obediently raising its blade arm in a salute. "Injured?" He would question as he came near, staring at the girl. His attention would be clearly where she had been pierced by the fangs of her kin. It would be her strange translucent blood that caught his eye, assuming the nature of her wound was that he could see it in the first place. His own appearance was no worse than wear from when he had arrived. Even his clothing would be untouched, despite how the spider's fangs had torn through his form earlier. A quick flicker of his eyes towards the mansion would betray his thoughts. "Do you need me to carry you back inside? You can take a rest if you need to. My clone can cover the watch for us for a while."

Not much seemed to remain as Chigetsu - the original one - had come down to see how she was doing. Oddly submissive, the clone saluted the original Chigetsu, unlike Ameya who, after seemingly appearing from the shadows, simply remained quiet and assessed the strength of will her Summoner would need to show. Chigetsu's empathy was barely registered by the spider, though the question he asked was answered with a brief nod. Yes, she was doing fine. The spider would always be fine. Even when the bite marks were visible and the poison coursed on, to Haka it was more of a personal test where she'd either live or die. The strong survived and copulated, the weak died.  Such was the way of the Spider Clan.

Chittering in the clan's native language, Ameya reported that the remaining invasion had been dealt with. All spiders but the one that had escaped in fear had been taken care off, and as such the summon considered her tasks finished. Haka nodded in acceptance, watching how the Summoning being undone as Ameya returned to her home world in a black enshrouding mist.

Despite being told she was fine, Chigetsu continued his concern, asking her if he had to carry her back inside. His eyes fixed on the mansion, she turned her gaze to the mansion as well, understanding what he intended to do and as such she declined. As long as she was on Spider Island, the rule of the Spiders counted. To be carried by someone else was to show weakness. To show weakness would undo everything she was aiming to achieve as an Unmei.

"Haka's fine."

Refusing to show any weakness, the spider-nin walked passed Chigetsu and his clone. The humans were safe, the spiders were dead. She had left her mark as the dominant spider in this area, and had called upon the black widow to prove her power was not one based on words. Others appearing in hopes to find an easy meal would reconsider after seeing the carnage, and those who would be strong enough to deal with Haka generally cared little for what little human business happened in Sero's domain. No, just like Haka, those members of the Spider clan had their eight eyes fixated on areas outside of Spider Island.

"Spiders won't come anymore now.", the spider-nin said, turning her head a little so she could catch Chigetsu in the corner of her eyes. That having said, she walked over to the tree she had previously been watching from. Even though the spiders wouldn't come anymore, guard duty was not over just yet. There would be no vanilla pudding just yet for the two of them.

"Haka." Chigetsu would whisper her name to himself. His eyebrows scrunched together, and it looked as if he were trying to remember something. His eyes were glossy and unfocused, although they had been the entire time. The short burst of adrenaline and resulting euphoria was enough to shake him from his drowsiness, but only temporarily. He had to fight the urge to yawn even now, and the words that he had just said were entirely lost to his mind. Only the hunger that provoked them remained, a rumbling anger inside his stomach. Making a good impression through offering kindnesses apparently didn't work. It hadn't worked when he had complimented her hair either, so perhaps he should have known better.  None of the words ever sounded right when they came from his mouth. All he was left with were his emotions.

He couldn't help but watch her as she walked away. In particular, he was staring at her open wound, his eyes showing a spark of interest even through their unfocused haze. Clear and colorless, it looked just like water. Internally he wondered if she was a Hozuki as well. If she was such a simple wound shouldn't have bothered her, but there was the possibility she didn't have the best control over her liquification. Testing something like that would be easy though. He internally debated tossing a kunai in her direction while she had her back turned to him. It wouldn't have been the best idea, but she kept him at least in the corner of her eyes. She would at least have the chance to dodge it if he did.

"Haka. You look like you couldn't." He would say her name again, speaking it aloud instead of whispering. His voice was still somewhat hoarse, dry from lack of lubrication. "If there aren't any more spiders coming it'll be fine." Chigetsu would press a hand back through his hair, trying to manage the dirty mess now as he spoke. "I want to see if you're weaker than me. You look like you are." Trying to hide or dress up what you meant with niceties and courtesy never worked for him. Words were a mystery, and the subtle whispering of voices in his head never helped. Even as he tried to tune it out he could hear the voice of his kunai teasing at his ears. It burned in his mind like static, tugging his focus away. So instead he would be honest, as much as words would allow.

"I don't like not knowing if I'm above or below a person. I want to know my place." He would wave an arm lazily in the direction of his clone. The liquid construct would disappear as Chigetsu made the gesture, fading back into water and splashing in a puddle on the ground. "You're injured, so I'll give you a handicap. I won't move from where I'm standing for the next ten seconds. That'll be fair."

He had never asked whether she accepted his offer for a fight or not. Instead, Chigetsu began counting down inside his head.

She barely set a couple of steps when Chigetsu went out to test her strength. He wanted to know if he was stronger or weaker than her, the words he spoke halting her in her tracks. Kindness might not be a language she understood, but this... she certainly understood. Turning around to face him in full, her amber eyes looked at him in earnest, trying to figure out if he meant what he was saying and as Chigetsu continued to speak, she was fairly certain he did mean it.

Brushing her hair out of her eyes, despite her wounds and the drain of her chakra, she would not hesitate to take out her obsidian kunai again as she formed a handful of tiny orbiting spheres of water. He had given her an advantage of ten seconds, but she doubted that would help her out much in the current state she was. Plus, from her analysis on how he had looked unharmed despite having two spiders bite him incessantly she had deducted that Chigetsu was, indeed, stronger or better skilled than she was. She hated that idea, but until she did something about it there was no denying the harsh truth. It wouldn't stop her from indulging his request, however.

With him not about to move from his spot, she had one moment to even out the fight by wounding him just as much. As the orbs of water orbited around her, she merely pointed at Chigetsu upon which the water orbs quickly gathered together to form a larger globe flashing vicious teeth intended to bite a decent chunk out of him on his right. Right after she had pointed at Chigetsu, she dashed to him to close what little gap had formed between them, kunai ready to stab him on on his left side. As she executed these actions, she was preparing herself to receive a retaliation of the close quarter sort since he had stated previously he was strong on that aspect. So as soon she would see him incline towards a melee counter-attack, she would ball her fist to command the blob to deflect such attacks.

The potential of battle was enough to clear his senses again. Another burst of adrenaline came as he saw her turn to face him. His eyes would follow the blobs of water that traveled around her body, more curious of them than anything else. How similar to gelatin the blob appeared was another piece of information that fed into his assumption she had some sort of hydration powers as well.  He couldn't help but be inspired from the way they orbited around her. He would make a mental note to try moving his body like that afterwards, just to see if he could. Chigetsu did not move as they merged and flew straight towards him, armed with vicious looking teeth.

As it went for his right, Chigetsu would raise his right arm. Not to meet the blob though, but rather high above his head. As it came he wouldn't make any motions to defend or block. The savage teeth would be allowed to tear into his side without interruption, ripping away a chunk of the boy into its maw. What came away wouldn't be blood or flesh or even cloth though. Where the teeth had torn through would have liquefied, and only water would stream out of the wound. This revealed Chigetsu's gelatin-like composition more clearly. He made no effort to mask his wounds with false blood like he did with the spiders. It wasn't necessary.

Kunais had liquified out of the palms of both of his hands in the meanwhile. The ability he had to liquefy his weapons made them easy to store within his body and produce whenever he needed. With one held one tightly in each hand now he would bring his right arm down. Ater the bite was torn out of him Chigetsu would take the opportunity to counter attack, slamming the pointed tip of his kunai down into the watery blob from above. While he doubted that stabbing a kunai into what was very clearly made of water would have much effect, at the very least the force would likely punt it down to the ground and give him a few moments to focus on Haka.

Simultaneously he would be preparing a strike towards the girl. His gut would twist and turn as he slammed the kunai down into the blob, shifting into a pair of hands in order to form a hand sign. A solidified spike of water would spring out of him then, emerging out from his collarbone. There would be no external warnings before the spike extended out suddenly at breakneck speed. The jutsu had been cast entirely silently from within him. The spike had been aimed down towards Haka's torso and right at her center of gravity. It would extend at a speed of 30 meters per second, and as it reached closer to Haka a second spike would split off from it to branch down and aim a point towards her left knee. The kunai in his left arm would be thrust forward if she managed to block these and progress past them, used to thrust towards her neck. The thrust she made towards his left side with her kunai would be ignored, Chigetsu treating it about as seriously as the spider bites. Assuming she got that far it would impale through his left side, piercing through liquid just as the hungry blob had.

After the blob had bitten out a chunk of Chigetsu's body, he retaliated in kind by striking with his kunai. The weapon was of good quality, suffering no scratches as it hit the chakra enriched water, and cut right through it with the slightest of effort, dispersing the blob for a moment. By that time, having dashed, Haka stood within reach to strike him with her own kunai. Having disregarded his own safety, her obsidian kunai plunged into his flank in turn, the wound seemingly healing as soon as it was formed.

Chigetsu then decided to reform his weapons into hands to form the required hand seals for another one of his techniques. Knowing she had no immediate means to deflect an incoming jutsu at this point, Haka decided to dodge the anticipated jutsu by jumping to the left side, but the speed of the technique was simply too fast from this close. The first spike struck her right side for 2 inches deep, while the second pinned her left knee painfully for 2 inch as well. Considering she had not been able to dodge his technique, Chigetsu didn't follow up with his kunai.

Colourless blood would drip out the wounds created by the suiton technique, but Haka ignored them and coldly gazed at the gelatinous creature Chigetsu had proven to be. There was little she could do in this current state, forced to wait for his jutsu to lose its effect while needing to regain her own breath from using her former techniques. Aside from having been at a disadvantage due to the battle with the spiders and having venom coursing through her veins, Chigetsu had clearly proven to be superior in strength and speed, perfectly able to keep up with her attacks and counter them effortlessly. She realised that the only reasons she had been able to hit him was because he had allowed her to.

How hateful.

But aside from her typical apathetic gaze, Haka revealed no emotions despite defeat or frustration. He had won this round, so much was clear. The only thing that remained now for her was to figure out what he really was. He had clearly not been human. His body, his techniques... Chigetsu seemed to be pretty much like regenerative pudding himself. Knowing the taste of that human desert, she almost was inclined to shift in her natural form and bite him just to ascertain herself he didn't taste the same but exhaustion pressed upon her to such point she couldn't be bothered with such little games.

"You won. Haka must go home now."

OOC 1: Ignoring your clearly defined simultaneous attack since you do not have the Multitasker SC. Your jutsu was considered a follow-up attack instead.

OOC 2: Sea Urchin Technique: This is practically a B rank jutsu for C rank chakra cost. The maximum allowed damage for C rank jutsu is 1.5 inch, not 2 inch. Likewise, max speed is 25 m/s, not 30 m/s. This is twice B rank power crammed in a C rank jutsu. Even with a lower rank range (which has previously only been considered a proper drawback for speed - and even then some), that's still too much added power for a debatable drawback. On top of that imbalance, this indirectly bypasses the jutsu casting limit for ranks by allowing more power than intended, and a chakra benefit by having B rank power for C rank cost. Sorry, but I request this technique to be reviewed/balanced by a mod/admin.

The spikes that extended from his body would retract just as quickly. The liquid using in their formation would reabsorb back into his collar bone. What was lost in their creation would be slowly replenished through the moisture in the air, each particle of mist that fell against his skin being sucked in to replenish his liquid form. There was still a dry feeling in his mouth despite this. It made him wish he had brought a water bottle. Liquefying himself like he had left bits of his internals still melted inside of him. Solidifying was uneven, and the sloshing of water in his stomach was probably audible. His torso jiggled slightly as it set again, as if he were shivering.

He couldn't feel through the spikes that had been created from his body. While they were made of the same liquid, no nerves or sensory organs traveled out with them. He couldn't feel the colorless blood that seeped from her wounds. Seeing it now so close made him doubt his earlier guess. It didn't seem gelatinous, not being nearly thick enough. Her body hadn't liquefied in the slightest. Even if his original guess of shared heritage had been incorrect there was still much to be curious about. That the colorless blood wasn't liquid just rose more questions about what exactly it was. To ask so calmly about the composition of blood wasn't something that he expected an answer for, or something he would even be able to ask in the first place.

Thinking too critically about the scientific composition of blood wasn't something he was capable of anyway. He wasn't nearly educated enough. Relying on the adrenaline that came with fighting to kick away his sleep deprivation probably wasn't the best idea. It left him emptier afterward. It was a miracle he had been able to focus to this extent.

"You won. Haka must go home now."

He would nod his head, although there would be some hesitation. Doing all this on a quest to get some vanilla pudding seemed stupidly convoluted. He hadn't actually thought of a plan forward after this part, other than to challenge her to a fight and ask for vanilla pudding if he won. With her exhaustion and injuries though it seemed almost like it would have been too audacious to demand pudding from her at this point.

"Alright." If she would turn to leave, Chigetsu would follow her.  To get pudding, he didn't necessarily have to ask for it. "I'm going to take a nap in your manor." Working on the assumption that she wouldn't bother contesting something like that, Chigetsu would state it as a justification to enter the manner. He did plan to take a nap, liquefying and sleeping in the bathtub of the first bathroom that he found. Sleeping in bathtubs was something he was fond of, more so than sleeping in beds most of the time. Since it was such a beautiful and exquisite manor it was bound to have beautiful bathrooms as well. The tiny little thing he had in his apartment probably would look like it was for peasants in comparison.

Rooting around for pudding would come after that.

OOC: Thank you for pointing these mistakes out in such a clear manner. The 2 inches part of the jutsu was a mistake, as I now see, and should really be only 1 inch. I'm going to edit and correct this jutsu as soon as possible, taking into account the advice you gave me.
