Fuyuko

Badum badum badum…

The door quickly closed behind Fuyuko as she entered her room. Her face felt like it would melt from the heat it was radiating. As if it had become like the heat that the sun radiated. Her heart was pounding inside of her head, her eardrums vibrating from the beats. She held her hands on top of each other against her sternum as if she was holding onto something physical. In this case it was simply the feeling that had been building up inside of her over the day. She would’ve tried to be with Takao more after this day regardless of how he had replied to the poem she spoke to him. Even if he said that it didn’t do all too much to him. Even if he said he wasn’t interested in romance, she would still try. Try to change his views on romance, but more importantly about his feelings for her. Despite her hardly knowing anything about Takao, he just felt too good to give up on.

Luckily nothing of that was the case. The words he spoke in response to her question were about the best possible thing she could’ve heard coming from his mouth. The spoken words roughly described the physical reactions that were going on inside of her own body. It also meant that he was feeling the things she was feeling right now. A mutual feeling. The realization made Fuyuko feel like she was a small child that was getting their presents for Christmas. By this point Fuyuko had started to twirl through her room from the happiness, she didn’t want to part him for the day, but at the same time she wasn’t sure if her body could handle more. It was starting to feel like she was suffering sensory overload, too many happy feelings rushing through her body in a single moment.

Though she wanted to spend more time with him, if he truly felt like the way she was feeling they would end up spending a lot more time together and she would just have to settle for that. Fuyuko sat down onto her bed and let herself fall back onto the bed to continue grasping what had happened today. Shortly after laying down onto the bed she caught herself yawning. Initially she had only stated she was tired to have an excuse to get away from the situation and calm down, but it turned out the constant heightened state of emotions had started to physically drain her and make her a bit exhausted. Feeling a little bit too lazy to get completely changed she only slipped off her shorts and undid her bra leaving her with just her panties and the oversized shirt she had been wearing all day. With all the clothes removed that would make sleeping a little less comfortable Fuyuko crawled towards her pillows and got underneath her blankets and started to comfortable with a smile on her face.

Off to the land of the dreams

As Fuyuko’s eyes started to get heavier and heavier her mind started to slowly drift away until she would no longer be conscious. Entering the world were anything is possible if you set your mind to it. It was a normal sunny day in the mist village with not a lot of things going on. Her refrigerator had almost run out of supplies so grocery shopping was one of the first things she was going to do on this fine day. Takao and her had been together for a few weeks by this point and she felt like surprising him with a nice meal this morning while he was sleeping in. Think of him sleeping made her giggle a little bit as she thought of his cute sleeping face I probably had.
Fuyuko took her time while she did the groceries thinking about what she could possibly make for them this morning, but also do the groceries for the next few days. It wasn’t her favorite past time and she’d rather try to do it the least possible. As she was slowly filling up her basket with the goods she needed a commotion started to arise in the store. She tried to pay not too much attention to it, but her ears were still standing up straight as if she was an animal alert for a predator. It seemed to be a simple problem that was going on and one that would most likely just resolve on its own and so Fuyuko decided to continue on doing her groceries. However her ears wouldn’t rest and keep a close ‘eye’ on the conversation that was on going.

When it sounded like the argument wasn’t going to stay civil anymore Fuyuko made her way over and tried to diffuse the situation. It didn’t go smoothly and anything she tried to calm down the instigator only seemed to make things worse and worse. The situation didn’t make a lot of sense to her, the reason why the man was so agitated was so unclear. It was almost as if the person was simply angry to be angry, not because there was something ongoing that had rubbed him the wrong way. Suddenly out of nowhere the man held a katana in her hand. Had it always been there? How could she not have noticed the man carrying around such a large weapon? There was little time to think about it as he came in swinging. A quick few movements from her hands had left the man disarmed, however something seemed to be wrong with it. There was blood dripping from it. She quickly glanced over herself, but there didn’t seem to be any cuts and so she determined it was most likely not her own blood.

She looked over at the man from who the blade belonged to. He on the other hand appeared to be having a large deep cut across his chest. Another thing that made no sense. She had made no movement that would’ve allowed for such a cut to appear across his chest. Soon after the man collapsed on the floor and begun to lay in a puddle of his own blood. Within seconds another man was standing in front of her in an outfit that was all to familiar to her. The outfit of the secret ops, ANBU. The man from ANBU arrested her for the murder of the man that was laying on the ground. Fuyuko desperately tried to explain what had been going on and that she had no such intention of killing the person. He wouldn’t listen and took her away to one of the interrogation rooms somewhere in the village.

When the interrogation had completed she was confident that the man from ANBU understood the situation and would mark it down as an unfortunate accident. However her hope would soon be shattered when a different person from the organization would come in and tell her she was going to be executed. Fuyuko frantically tried to find a way for her to still proof her innocence. She couldn’t understand why this had been happening. Sure she didn’t agree with how the village operated on somethings, but she was a shinobi herself and so followed the orders that were given to her. So why would they treat her like this still? Was having a different opinion that much of a crime. Any attempt she made at trying to speak reason in the people from ANBU had zero effect. As if her words weren’t capable of reaching their ears. His hand started to light up and he pulled back. Fuyuko tried to run, but her body seemed incapable of doing anything, it was just standing there as if it was accepting what was happening.

It was finally over…

As the man thrusted his arm towards her she closed her eyes and could only think of Takao in the moments before she died, screaming to save her inside of her head. Just as the mans hand touched her chest she shot up straight in her bed and screamed “…VE ME!!!” A decent amount of sweat had started to collect on her forehead and started to roll down her face as she was sitting up straight in bed. Her shirt sticking to her clammy back accompanied with a heavy breath, and her hand rose to her chest to feel her heart that felt like it was pounding outside of her chest. It was followed up with a sigh of relief when she realized she was save within the walls of her own home. “Just a nightmire…” she spoke softly under her breath.

Takao stood just barely a step from her door after having settled Asuka into the spare bedroom. He had sat upon the bed for less than five minutes before he was up, unable to sit still and feeling uncharacteristically restless, which was certainly unusual for what he was used to. Takao didn’t like leaving mysteries unsolved, and the feelings she put inside him and the ways she made him feel were certainly a mystery that his psyche was begging to solve. But now that he stood at her door, his hand raised and ready to knock, he hesitated. Another abnormality; he never hesitated. It was almost frustrating to understand so little of why he was acting in the manner that he was. He didn’t even have the slightest idea what he would say to her if he did knock, although he wasn’t sure it even mattered. Speaking to her and hearing her voice had left something akin to a sweet auditory aftertaste in his head that left him wanting more.

He fought with himself for good ten minutes or so before dragging his reluctant, tired body back to the spare bedroom. Takao was quiet with opening and closing the door, although not so much with flopping onto his back on the bed. His dull black eyes settled for staring at the ceiling while he let his mind wander, which did little to appease the restlessness that kept him awake. His head lazily turned to the side and set upon Asuka, whose head turned upon seeing movement in its peripherals.

“I don’t get it, bud.” Takao muttered quietly, only barely audible had one been standing at the door and listening in. “Earlier, all I heard was the stupid thing yelling at me. Even in the woods, nothing but burn this, burn that. But as soon as I started talking to her… nothing. Complete radio silence upstairs.” He sat up slightly and unlaced his boots, which were removed and set upright at the foot of the bed. His shirt was the next to go, although it was discarded more lazily with a simple ball up and toss near the boots. He had little difficulty in settling into the bed, which was likely found to be more comfortable to him than it was in reality, if only due to the circumstances that brought his body to coziness.

“I barely know this girl, and she can do that. That’s never happened before.” He continued speaking aloud, although quietly, and largely to himself although under the guise of hosting a one sided conversation with the nearby bird. His hands moved to rest behind his head as his gaze returned to the ceiling. “...Maybe it’s just a dud. It usually comes back, after a while.” The tone of his voice shifted from something akin to curious disbelief to sullen, but it hardly lasted long before a smile crept onto his face, which reddened slightly as his mind wandered toward the events earlier in the day. It could have gone so much worse than it had, which made it fun to reflect upon, even if some specific images lingered in his memory. “ But it sure would be nice…” One arm moved from behind his head to cover his eyes and he exhaled a long, exasperated sigh.

“I should’a just knocked.” Takao shifted on the bed and turned, laying on his side to face the door. A slow exhale through his nostrils filled his lungs, and he finally came to the mental resolution that he would have plenty of opportunity to speak to her in the morning. His eyes closed as he released the breath in the form of a sigh and nuzzled his head against the pillow. Still restless as a myriad of different thoughts and imagery ran through his mind now that his eyes were closed, Takao shifted on the bed a few times before finally settling in and letting sleep overtake him.

...“VE ME!”...

The broken silence of the night made his eyes shoot open and his body sit upright suddenly. The warm grasp of sleep had just barely taken hold of him, so the slightest bit of grogginess dulled his senses, but that hardly stopped him from reading the situation. It had been Fuyuko’s voice screaming something, which was enough to urge him from the bed. Even in the sleep-induced daze, it took him hardly a second to move from the spare bedroom to Fuyuko’s door. Had he been of more sound mind, he might have simply used Aibāningu before barging in, but the thought hadn’t quite occurred to him. At this range, it certainly would have given a painfully detailed image of things that hadn’t quite been deemed appropriate for him to see just yet, so perhaps it wasn’t a bad thing that he had abstained.

“Fuyu-!” Takao yelled as the door swung open, yet his call to her was cut short upon seeing her sitting harmlessly on her bed. Even in the dim light, he could see that she didn’t appear entirely okay. Sweat made her shirt cling to her back, and she was breathing heavily. Perhaps it was just a bad dream.

“...--ko... I- uh…” He cleared his throat. As he gave her room a quick glance over, it appeared that there was nobody but the two of them there, and nothing in the immediate area that could be deemed to be a threat.

“Are you alright?” Takao hesitated to walk inside further than he had previously barged in, instead opting to linger just a step or two inside beyond the doorway. “I sorta… heard you, uh… scream.” He explained, not wanting to seem as though he had intruded without a good reason.

Alone in the dark

Fuyuko was safe, at least for the time being. The silence that was present in her room broken by her panting breath. Her heart was still pounding as loud as ever, feeling it vibrate her eardrums. She had little time to collect her thoughts properly before a whole heap of ruckus came from the other side of her bedroom wall. Before the door to her door would most likely swing open wide Fuyuko had already turned her head to the left to face it. A small smile briefly appeared on her face as Takao came in rushing through. She wasn’t completely certain why he was there though, but it seemed he was concerned about her wellbeing. While sounding a little bit out of breath she replied to the singular question that he threw her way. “I… I’m alright.” A short pause followed before continuing her answer. “I just had a bad nightmare…” Her eyes slowly looking over Takao as he was just standing there in the doorway. The ‘chaos’ of him entering the room had made her not notice it until now, but he was standing there with a bare chest.

It made her quickly turn her head away from him before slowly turning back and just glancing at him from the corner of her eyes. From having seen him all day earlier she was able to tell he had a strong built but seeing him standing there without a shirt really complimented that thought. It made her forget the distress she was in just a moment ago and instead made her want to gently slide her fingers over his body. Feel the toned muscles of his chest with her cheek as he held her gently in his strong arms. The trail of happy and slightly lewd though interrupted as she looked up to his face again and saw the worry in his eyes, reminding her why he was there in the first place. Fuyuko moved over a little bit to the other side of the bed and pulling her legs in putting her knees against her chest. It was followed by her gently patting on the spot she had previously been sitting. Telling Takao to come over onto the bed, but without saying any words.

She wants him... She needs him...

As long as Takao was in the room and not seated on the bed she would keep on patting on the bed. With a short pause in between the patting, every new set of pats would however be a little bit more forceful then the one that preceded it. Sort of signaling the urge in which Fuyuko wanted Takao to be on the bed with her. When he would make it onto the bed she’d turn her head straight again and stare at the wall in front of her before she’d speak up again. “I…” she paused as she gave herself a little bit more time to think of how to phrase the next bit while wrapping her arms around her legs. “The nightmare… it was horrible. Things are a little fuzzy and I don’t quite remember all that happened it. But there was this argument going on in a store. I came in to diffuse the situation but something went wrong, I don’t know how or why. It didn’t make sense. But I ended up killing the aggressor. I was then taken away by ANBU and interrogated and it was determined I should be killed. After that I…” Fuyuko got a little flustered and spoke the next bit more softly as she held on tighter to her legs. “I yelled for you.

She turned her head again taking peeks at Takao to see for any reactions that might come from the next question she was about to propose. “Will you sleep here tonight?” she asked softly spoken. It was too embarrassing to ask with a louder voice. But she wanted to feel safe for the rest of the night.

The mode that Takao’s mind had entered upon hearing her scream slowly lifted and softened as Fuyuko said she was alright. He drew in a calming breath to assuage the anticipation of something happening, and instead focused his attention upon her. With her claiming his undivided attention, the subtleties of her current appearance became more apparent to him. He had previously noticed her shirt sticking to her back because of the sweat, but hadn’t quite allowed his eyes to explore the shape of her body. With his wandering gaze on subconscious autopilot, he traced the outline of her back beneath the fabric. His eyes traveled further to her bare legs, and the size of her shirt made it difficult to tell if she was wearing something beneath it at all. A dull thudding filled his ears as his face warmed, making it hard to focus on her explanation of a bad nightmare being the cause of the scream, though her words somehow managed to penetrate his shameless inspection of her body.

He found it nearly impossible to move from the doorway on his own. Neither leaving nor moving further inside seemed like an option, which kept him stood in place. It wasn’t until she motioned for him to sit beside her, making the silent request with a simple patting motion on the bed, that he opted to move. Takao was hesitant to accept the gesture at first; the Jōnin was not oblivious to the inappropriate nature of their current situation. But, not unlike his gaze mere seconds earlier, his body began to act on its own. The fluttering sensation in his chest that he had felt when they ate together earlier was returning stronger than it had been before as he sat upon her bed for the second time in the same day, although with a vastly different connotation this time around.

As he sat upon the bed, Takao watched as she pulled her legs up and hugged them close. While he found the timorous body language rather adorable to observe, it was also a bit worrisome, and told him that the dream she had was bothering her. The desire to protect quickly arose again as he became more attentive whilst she spoke of her nightmare.

A faint frown pulled his mouth downward as he listened. He briefly recalled a facet of their conversation earlier, when Fuyuko had explained that Kirigakure no longer employed the use of prisons. The more she said, he more he seemed to understand. It didn’t take a sharp wit to arrive at the assumption that the Bloody Mist’s primitive manner of handling criminals instilled worry in some of the Water Country’s more sensical residents. Her mention of ANBU made his gaze briefly falter from her visage, instead falling upon the ink within his own shoulder that marked him of similar profession. He had never found pride in it, nor did he think one should. She paused for a moment afterward and hugged her legs tighter, initially seeming apprehensive to continue before the admission that she had yelled for him. His eyebrows raised and his expression softened considerably as his gaze returned to her.

“You yelled for me?” Takao asked, almost smiling had it not been inappropriate for the situation. To have been the source of subconscious comfort for her in a time of mental distress instilled a sensation of weightless euphoria in his chest. It was nearly impossible to suppress, but Takao’s concern for her outweighed the excitement brought on by her admission.

She went on to make her request that he sleep in the room with her tonight, which brought the dull throb of an audible heartbeat back to his ears.

“Sleep here?...” Takao repeated, his gaze falling onto her bed. “Like… here?” He asked as he gave the bed a light pat. Even if she hadn’t meant the bed itself, and merely in the room with her, he managed a warm smile and nodded. She had called out to him when her life was threatened and she felt unsafe. He could hardly refuse her request to feel safe even if he wanted to, and he certainly didn’t.

“This no prison thing Kiri has going really bothers you, doesn’t it?” Takao lifted his hand and laid it on her shoulder, his own voice falling to a more gentle tone to accompany his attempt at a reassuring gesture.

So close

There he was, sitting only a few inches from herself. Fuyuko could tell from the way he moved to the bed and the way he got himself seated that he was apprehensive in his approach. Treading carefully towards her. Unsure if he should or shouldn’t get himself into the situation he was about to get himself in. But at least for the time being he’d be right there next to her. A sense of security ran through her body as she told about her nightmare. The reply Takao gave to her sounded a little surprised. On one side she could understand that he was surprised by that fact, they had only just met and it’s somewhat strange for two practical strangers to feel like this about one another. However on the other side, she laid her feelings bare earlier during dinner, stating or at least heavily implying she was head over heels for him. But she didn’t hold it against him, it was a somewhat bizarre situation after all.

Her next request had gotten a somewhat funny response from Takao. As if he was asked to do something he had an excruciating fear for. It brought a small smile to her face. His choice of words and the way her brought them across to her were, what could only be described as, cute. It made her chuckle gently as she nodded and said “Yes here, silly. The bed is big enough for two.” She hoped that he’d ease up a little more about the situation. It wasn’t inappropriate in anyway. She invited him onto bed. She wants him right there next to her. It wasn’t him that was initiating things, it was all her.

The touch of his hand of her shoulder send a surge of warm feelings through her body accompanied with a sense of reassurance that everything was going to be fine. She glanced over his face. Her eyes longingly looking at his. Before she would avert them to his arm that was reaching out for her. It looked very battle-worn so up close. A couple of scars could be seen even with this little light in the room. One of his scars seemed to almost be covering something up, something that had the striking resemblance of the Konohagakure ANBU tattoo. Fuyuko let go of her legs with her right arm and slowly reached out for the marking. Gently running her fingers over the marking while posing a question herself before she would answer the one that he gave her. “Did it hurt? Getting that mark? Do the orders the village make you execute burden your mind?

It was time to address the topic

From talking with the man that was sitting besides her on the bed, she assumed that it, at the very least, didn’t weigh lightly on his mind. But only his answer could really tell. Depending on the answer it could probably seal the deal on her feelings as well. Not wanting to leave Takao waiting longer on her answer she let herself fall backwards back onto the bed exposing her chest without realizing it. “Yes.” She said with a voice that was filled with determination before going back to speaking softly. “It bothers me quite a bit, maybe even more so then what’s reasonable. At least that’s the feeling I get when I look at this village. No one talks about it. The faces of the villagers of this village seem mostly content with the situation and I just don’t understand it. Yeah sure the criminals have done something bad and should be punished for it. But everyone makes mistakes right? And you tend to learn from those mistakes. But shouldn’t everyone be entitled to be able to learn from their mistakes, no matter what they did? Apparently the head of the village thinks differently. And while crime might be at an all time low, is the mood of the village at an all time best? It feels more like people are afraid for their own lives every minute of the day and as a result don’t talk about it. I just don’t know what to do. I want to help my country, I love my country. But why do I have to do the things I hate the most to help it? Things that I almost deem a crime against the country. It just doesn’t make sense to me and I don’t know what to do with it.

While Fuyuko’s voice may have started out soft spoken it got filled with sadness and anger as her ramble continued on. She let out a decent sized sigh which sounded like she could burst into tears at any second. “I’m sorry for the long ramble. But yeah, that’s what’s been on my mind for quite some time now.” She said as she tilted her head towards him, gazing at his eyes again.

The little bit of contact he made with Fuyuko made his heart race, yet it was still oddly calming. The brief time apart after dinner had brought a strong sensation of apprehension and uncertainty back to his consciousness, but each moment they spent in each others presence built more confidence within him, and allowed the feeling of nervousness to subside. Instead be replaced with the fluttering feeling in his chest, and the worry that a misplaced word or action might upset the tone of their interaction began to fade away.

“I’ll sleep here then.” He said, the warm smile growing a sense of comfort behind it as well. When Fuyuko turned and cast her gaze down to his arm, the smile softened. His eyes eventually faltered from her own and instead watched the hand that rose and touched the marking inscribed within the flesh of his shoulder. It wasn’t a spot on his body that was often given physical attention, so even the simple contact of her fingers running over it tingled just a bit more. She had questions regarding it, not ones he was initially expecting, but the latter was practically mandatory.

“I remember it hurting a little, but not much.” Takao said, moving his hand from her shoulder to cover and lightly grasp the hand on his. It wasn’t to prevent her from touching it, but rather to feel his hand on her’s. “It’s been a long time, so I don’t really remember it very well, honestly.” He answered honestly. The scars that marked his body had all hurt when they were inflicted, but the exact recollection of how they did was lost with time-- healed, just like the wounds they once were.

“I try not to let them. Some things are hard to… or… can’t really be ignored, but I joined because I love my country. I wanted to protect the people in it, and at the time it seemed like the best way to do it.” He answered truthfully. When he was much younger, a mere fifteen years old, his view of the world was considerably more naïve. He thought that wearing a mask on his face and ink on his shoulder and following the orders of those whose intentions were not always pure of heart was the best way to serve his country. He would incorrectly utilize his willingness to dirty his hands where others would not, for the interests of a few rather than the whole. Takao was a soldier, not a mindless drone.

As her hand slipped from his shoulder while she fell backward, his own hand’s loose grasp weakened further, allowing her to do so unhindered. With his gaze on her face, he almost hadn’t noticed her exposed chest. But his observant nature and wandering eyes were too vigilant to overlook it. He might have mentioned something had it not been for her further explanation in response to his question. While she spoke, he shifted his position on the bed, and opted to lay next to her with his head supported on the hand of his bent elbow. A sympathetic expression replaced the smile he had been wearing when she finished. The mindset she held was similar to his own in many ways, although they differed in others. He was more like her now in present than he was when he was younger, when he believed that in some cases it was necessary to be careful that one didn’t become the monster one was fighting to overcome it. With a broader and more experienced outlook, he couldn’t quite empathize with his prior viewpoint.

“I only have the opinion of an ignorant outsider, but...” Takao commented after she had finished. “I don’t think that sacrificing the morality of state for the results of lesser crime is an adequate trade off. I don't have much frame of reference, but as far as I can tell, it sounds despicable, and neanderthalic. Prisons work in Konohagakure, and although they might not be as effective as just murdering criminals, there are still people that have done good things in light of the bad. Hundreds of years ago, Konohagakure was practically wiped off the map by somebody that ended up helping to save the village afterward. If he hadn’t been given the chance for redemption, we might have never recovered.” Takao answered, recalling one of many times that Konohagakure’s future was threatened in the past. He had studied the history of the village passionately, and knew a great deal of it by heart.

Further shifting his position on the bed, Takao laid on his back and stared up at the ceiling, his hands folded behind his head to give him a bit of comfortable cushioning. “But Konoha isn’t perfect either. I feel like at some point in history, we forgot the value of our lives.” He said, voicing an opinion he seldom did aloud.

She turned to look at him and he did the same to meet her gaze, the simple act of eye contact brought his smile back.

“You don’t have to apologize for that. If I had been born here and was the same as I am now, I don’t think we would be very different at all.” He said, turning once more from his short lived position on his back to lay on his side again, facing her. One arm remained under his head while his other hand moved to lightly caress her cheek.

Fuyuko

Peace fell on the room as he decided to stay with her for the night.

As Takao put his hand on hers a warm feeling got sent through her body again while he started to answer her questions about the tattoo. Fuyuko knew very little about the process of getting a tattoo, she had always assumed it was at the very least a little painful. It sounded a little strange to have something placed on you permanently without it hurting in the slightest. She knew about branding cattle, a process in which you heated a piece of metal until it became glowing hot and then place it on the bare skin of the recipient. She wondered if it was some similar process to that, but that still left her wondering how you got the color on it then, since branding didn’t leave any new color on the skin, it just left scar tissue. Her wondering trail of though about the process of receiving a tattoo was interrupted when Takao started talking about the question that really mattered to her. It felt somehow reassuring that someone that seemed so certain about their life was still struggling with it on aspects. Takao seemed to care about what the tasks entailed, but didn’t seem to let his personal opinion get in the way of them. He sounds, or at least the old him, like what she should strife to be as well. Someone that didn’t lose themselves in the missions they were given, yet at the same time capable of executing them.

When her own 'tantrum' had finished it there wasn’t a long pause or one at all before Takao would speak up and reply. He started off in an odd way. Yes, it was true that he was an outsider, but he didn’t seem like he was ignorant. If anything, he seemed to be carrying around a lot of experience and so would be anything but ignorant. However she wouldn’t make a comment about it and just let him continue on with his reply. As he continued his answer Fuyuko felt more reassured then she has felt in weeks if not months. Hearing the way that Takao thought about the practice and that he opposed of it as well was heartwarming. She wasn’t alone in thinking it was weird that there were no prisons. Although he didn’t outright say it, he words seemed to agree that people should be given an opportunity at a second chance. He continued with some old history from Konoha that proofed that point as well, although she had no clue which historic event he was referencing. He ended off with saying that his village wasn’t perfect either, which came somewhat out of the blue, but at the same time it didn’t. She had practically just claimed the same thing about her own country. “Well… it would be somewhat weird if it was perfect. There is always something that could be improved on. And when you focus on improving that something else will slip and then that can be improved upon. It’s pretty much an endless cycle.

The mood of the conversation seemed to shift

Fuyuko felt glad that she shouldn’t feel bad for the wall of text she spoke. Her eyes slowly followed as Takao’s hand slowly came closer to her face. She was a little startled when he started to caress her cheek but it sure felt nice. Fuyuko closed her eyes and leaned a little bit into Takao’s hand enjoying the feeling of his skin against her own. She was sure she could addicted to this fleeting feeling it gave her and honestly wished this moment would never end.

This blissful moment is what she wanted more off. Her heart started to beat a little bit faster as she thought about the idea of making Takao hers. If he agreed to it then making blissful moments like these would become a more normal daily thing. Be wrapped in his arms whenever she needed comforting or share funny stories and laugh together. The thought of being able to completely forget about her ninja live and just be lost in wonderous daily life activities with Takao sounded like the best thing in the world. Since it didn’t seem like he was going to make the first move, she would need to do it.

Fuyuko made a soft but audible gulp as she gently scooched closer to him. She kept on moving closer until her body was gently pressing against the side of his body. His arm going underneath her neck. Her forehead resting against his cheek and her chin against his shoulder. Her breath softly blowing against his neck as she mustered up more strength to ask the next question. Her right hand gently laying on his side. “Takao…” she started off with a gentle soft spoken voice. “Do you want to be with me……. Forever?

Please say yes, please say yes...

Her fingers that were on his chest tensed up a little bit as she asked the question and her eyes squeezed closed. While she felt like he didn’t really have a reason to decline her question seeing as he was right there in bed with her. There was still this irrational feeling inside of her that he was going decline however. If Takao were to decline she would quickly let go of him and move to the other side of the bed and turn around. Have her back facing towards him as she would fight back the tears of being rejected. Were he however to accept her feelings she’d slide her right hand over to the other side of his body and hug him and squeal a little bit from the happiness. Not being able to really contain her happiness, but not wanting to be too forward or take things to far so soon in their relationship, she gently slid her leg over Takao's leg and interlocked their legs. Using it to hold onto him just that bit more as a display of her affection for him.

Takao

A faint, knowing smile grew on Takao’s face as Fuyuko mentioned the simple phrase, “an endless cycle”. Takao had a deeply introspective viewpoint on the shinobi lifestyle, and “an endless cycle” summed it up perfectly. Endless cycles of fear, anger, and hatred that were all spokes on the wheel of war that never seemed to stop turning. He had attempted to break the wheel for himself, and he found trouble along the way. Destroying the source of his anger and fear hadn’t done it, nor had it brought him the inner peace that he thought it would. He hadn’t yet given up on the notion of breaking the cycle, but the solution would not be revealed so easily. As his black eyes gazed deep into her chestnut brown, despite his lack of success thus far, their simple shared gaze instilled more confidence within him than he could have mustered alone.

Their conversation quickly shifted from the prior topic when Takao chose to focus more on her, not so much as ignoring the statement as he was allowing his body to fall into auto-pilot. The simple sensation of feeling the weight of her head pressing against his hand was enough to send jolts of a fluttering tremble in his chest, and without thinking much about it, his thumb lightly brushed over her cheek. Just that simple motion was enough to engender a deeply seeded desire to protect her, not just in body, but mind as well as a source of comfort and reassurance. He hadn’t quite realized it just yet, but just their shared presence brought him the same comfort he wished to bring to her. It wasn’t inner peace in the truest sense of the meaning, but it was close enough to leave him craving more.

His chest rose and fell slowly as he watched her scoot closer and settle in against his body, her soft and warm breaths blown against his neck enough to cause goose bumps to form along his arms and neck. Her semi-audible gulp hadn’t gone unheard, nor had the hand on his side gone unnoticed. He leaned just the slightest bit of weight toward her as he found comfort in their current position. It provided him with a sensation of warmth and ease that seemed otherwise unattainable, as if the two could have been laying on cold, sharp stones and he still would have felt comfortable.

When she spoke her request, his expression briefly faltered as his mouth parted in disbelief. The fleeted expression quickly grew into a wide smile, although her eyes were closed and the momentary shift of different countenance had probably gone unnoticed. Although he wanted to blurt out the obvious answer, he stopped himself from doing so. The thought of making it just a bit more memorable had crossed his mind, and he opted for a different approach first.

Takao shifted his position and turned to face her, the arm under her head not disturbing her despite the movements. His hand gently slid from her face, but never lost contact with her skin. Instead, it moved down to her chin, and moved upward if not met with resistance, tilting her head up just enough to meet his. Provided that the few motions had gone accordingly, Takao leaned in and down. He would softly press his lips against hers and, provided that she didn’t pull away immediately, Takao would hold the kiss for a few seconds, before slowly and reluctantly pulling back just enough to break contact but still leave their faces quite close.

“Just to, uh… clarify, that was me saying yes.” He said, cheeks pulling up into another wide smile as he returned the hug she wrapped him in and laughed at the squeal, which only urged him to hug her tighter. Takao happily obliged in entangling their legs together, which brought the pair as close as their virtue would presently allow.
