Nova Makato
A-rank
Nova walked with the proctors into the bare room, it's walls painted a steely grey over what appeared to have at once point been red brick, and the door was made of a thick steel and was closed with a tight seal. She tugged at the corner of her sleeve nervously as she walked besides the shinobi in proctors uniforms. Feeling quite out of place wearing what she was; her lovely deep green kimono with the spiders embroidered on the sleeves, with a tightly fitting pair of shorts and tank top both in black, she regretted the decision slightly. She felt vulnerable and exposed with her mahogany leg shuffling slightly on the ground for all to see. Nova had felt relieved when they had entered the room, it shook the feeling that all eyes were on her. They walked around Kurogokegamu who had been placed in the room prior to the event on the smooth concrete flooring to the wall opposite the door, and in the dim light Nova was able to now discern a number of heavy looking chains connected in several points to the wall by sturdy looking mounts. Beneath them was a small stool upon which Nova was directed to step up onto and turn around, back against the wall and to spread her legs and arms apart. She tried to gulp away the large knot in throat that had been present since she arrived before the proctors this morning. She followed the instruction and the two proctors began snaking the chains around her limbs several times, tightly, and hooking them together. She expected the steel to sting with cold against her limbs as they wound the meters of links around her, but the metal, while cool to the touch was not ice cold. She exhaled heavily then immediately regretted it as the bindings were wrapped around her torso tightly. She looked down and she saw nothing but chains over her body, not excluding her wooden leg. Before she was given a chance to prepare, the stool beneath her feet was yanked away and she fell slightly, being suspended against the wall.
Her heart jumped to her throat, nervousness taking control as she experienced the fear of not being able to move. The two shinobi bowed their heads at her and turned to walk out the door, the weight of it slamming closed cause the room to reverberate. She heard a metallic click as the door latched and she felt the stillness in the room from the airtight seal. In the silence of the room she could hear her heart pounding loudly, the only noise besides her frantic breaths. Terror gripped her chest before she could control it, and before her eyes instead of the bare room and her lovingly crafted puppet, she saw the ceiling of her childhood home burning. Rather than the chains pinning her to the wall she felt a searing pain in the leg that no longer was part of her as a flaming ceiling beam fell on her. Ringing in her ears were the screams of her parents, not the silence of the trial room. Nova felt as though the world was burning around her and lost all sight of her goal. A scream tore from her lips as her memories dominated her senses. Panic tore at her body and she began hyperventilating, unable to pull herself from the dream. Eye's fluttering and sweat beading across her face, her vision blurred and darkened. Her head sagged and her lids fell shut, hair swishing about her face.
Nova's eyes opened slightly, head aching and body aching as she remembered the chains suspending her. The air smelled stale and she tried to recall how long ago she had been placed here. She remembered the circumstances in which she was put here, she was taking her trial. Her second trial. For the Chuunin exams. What was happening now came back to her, overtaking the terrors she had experienced that caused her to lose consciousness. She looked and saw the familiar form of Kurogokegamu, though lifeless, the sparkling gemstone eyes reminded her she was not alone. Still able to move her fingers, she gulped, drawing up her strength. She tapped her fingers in a peculiar patter and thin emerald strands of chakra were slowly spun from their tips. They swirled in the air for a moment, before being yanked by the tips toward Kurogokegamu. Each shining thread from her fingers linked to one of the eight legs, and those from her thumbs locked to the head. Her head still swimming slightly for a reason she was not quite sure, she stretched out each finger slowly, the leg with the corresponding thread moving in time. She stuck her fingers on each hand forward, the puppet lurching to life. Taking as deep a breath as she could with the steel bindings around her chest, her eyelids slid shut. Exhaling after a moment she poured chakra through the puppeters threads, causing them to pulse brighter for a moment. Her ears felt as though they were sealed and she could hear nothing, not even the silence that she heard before. It was like her eardrums were stuffed with cotton balls.
Though her eyes were closed, her vision was illuminated from another source with a pale green tinge to everything. She was staring at herself, chained up a meter on the wall. Her pale face was clammy, and her messy hair stuck to her face. From and outside view it would appear she was having a nightmare but for the bizarre twitching movement her fingers trembled with. With her vision, the puppet approached Nova's near motionless form, staring up at her dangling feet. The black silk slipper she wore on the foot of her prosthetic had slipped off at some point to the ground below, the other one hanging halfway off her foot. The puppets body rose as the front legs began to ascend the wall besides its master's chained body. Turning to her, now horizontal on the wall, Kurogokegamu lowered its gemstone eyes, now alight with an emerald glow to the chains binding around her left arm. The chains felt hard as the steel they were made ought to be, however when looking at them in this out-of-body experience type of way they looked fussy and opaque. Bizarre as it was, she shook her left arm against the chains and saw them sway from the spiders point of view. Though she could not hear it she could feel them rattle against her skin, and saw them swaying realistically.
Her head spun for a moment, searching her memory for a lesson from her time in the academy. She vaguely recalled the steps to dispel a genjustsu. Her throat tightened for a minute as she thought she could not recall it, spelling her loss of this trial. Trying to shake the thought from her mind she searched and thought she could remember how, she had never put it into practice out of academy before. She halted the flow of her chakra suddenly, Kurogokegamu fell with a thud to the floor, landing on its back and curling with its legs tucked in, mirroring that which it was crafted after. Her eyes flew open and her fingers halted their bizarre dance through the air. Though her head was still swimming, worse now than before. She closed her flow of chakra entirely for a brief moment, before channeling it elsewhere. It flooded out her hands onto the thick steel links. Glowing emerald the chakra flooded over the chains, following their lengths, until they all glowed faintly green around her. Suddenly small sparks of vibrant light shot from the links closest to her hands, and it appeared that cracks of energy were shattering the links. Each link was glowing brightly, building in intensity until they burst into light and faded to dust on the wind, before disintegrating entirely. As the chains ceased their existance, Nova fell from the wall, the meter drop enough to send her stumbling to her hands and knees. Gasping for air, she tried to rise to her feet, but her whole body felt shaky.
Quickly drawing threads of chakra to her puppet, she moved Kurogokegamu over to her, and used his body for support. Able to use the puppet legs a boost she slid up the side and sat heavily down in the seat, her eyes drooping, but she was not quite sure why. Her legs twitched tiredly forward, Kurogokegamu stumbling to the door. The puppet teetered on its thin legs slightly, leaning against the metal door, its armored hull reverberating against it. From the outside she heard a familiar clack, and the door swung outwards, sending Kurogokegamu tumbling over. Nova slid out of the puppets seat as she had not latched herself in, sliding to the dusty doorstep. Vision blurred, Nova saw two men, maybe the proctors who had put the chains on her, standing above her looking down. She felt them grab her by her arms and drag her the rest of the way away from her puppet. Then they lifted her from the legs and shoulders, carrying her away. The blue sky reflected in her eyes as she swayed, being rushed through a crowd, but it felt like a dream with all the noises muted and soft. She relaxed and her eyes blinked slowly and fell shut, staying closed.
Nova awoke to a bright light overhead, sending pangs of ache through her sore hear. She looked down and saw white sheets tucking her into a hospital cot. Glancing around sterile room, she saw a pile of her belongings, including her clothes folded neatly, on a table next to her bed. She sat up and saw that she was dressed in a pair of her own pajama's. Sitting to the left side of her bed was prosthetic leg, that somebody had removed for her. As Nova stirred awake, a stern looking man walked into the room. It took her a moment, but she thought she recognized the proctor from her trial, no longer in uniform, but a much more formal outfit. “Makato, Nova. I am here to inform you, now that you are awake, that you have passed your second trial. Your rating has not been determined in relation to your competition yet. There was debate as to the final decision on whether you did or did not truly complete it, but it was decided in your favor. We will see you soon when you face your third trial” The man said in a imperious, unfeeling voice, a moment after in a much softer one, “and we are very glad you are feeling better. Best of luck to you.” The man turned on his heels, and walked out, closing the door behind him.

- Trial 2:
5-6. The Art of Escape!
The Genin is taken into a spartan room, where the door is locked from the inside with all of their equipment. Tapping the ninja on their shoulder and wishing them luck, they’re placed under a genjutsu where they believe the proctor to shackle them with a plethora of chains, combination and padlocks and a strait jacket and leather feet straps for good measure. The ninja is told to attempt to escape the second the door closes behind him… however, the chains are little more than a powerful C rank genjutsu. A ninja ‘CAN’ beat it by undoing the locks, should they be fast enough, dexterous enough and smart enough or see through the gen with B-0 perception. But it will take time… and meanwhile, in the real world, the room begins to be filled with a toxic fume that due to the genjutsu, the user cannot perceive. As the gas begins to have an effect, dulling the user’s senses and poisoning them, the genjutsu will weaken before ultimately breaking, potentially revealing it, but, at that point, will the ninja still have enough time to escape and get the aid they’ll desperately need?
