The world zoomed into view as Nozomi and the rest of the group she was with appeared in another test for the Yokai Obstacle Course. A quick glance around the room showed nothing more than a few doors, and she had no doubt the puzzle here would be more difficult than that of the race. A disembodied voice spoke throughout the house. "
The goal is simple: Make it through this labyrinth. Good luck." Nozomi's mouth moved into a smile. So that was it then? It would be rather simple. Another one of the challenges that focused on just completion rather than being the first to do so. Still, she didn't want to lead anyone through the place on her own, because she would be using her skills as a Hunter-nin Captain to allow her to gain an upper hand. She'd gotten plenty of tracking training, and her perception was really high, so a labyrinth for her would be able to be easily figured out with a little bit of time.
Without waiting for anyone to follow her, Nozomi rushed through one of the doors, slamming it behind her, and continued on her way. She continued running through different doors, letting herself just move through the mansion without any issues on where it is she was going. Throughout the mansion she could hear nothing else other than her footsteps, but eventually she had managed to get herself far enough in that she was certain nobody could have followed her. Anyone who had tried would have gotten lost themselves. She stopped moving and looked around her, trying to figure out the secret of the labyrinth. Everything had it's own quirk that allowed it to be solved, any puzzle like this should be simple for anyone with tracking abilities.
Activating her ANBU Sensory Range technique, Nozomi looked back down at the ground, and could easily identify her footsteps. She turned around and opened the door she had come through, and started back tracking through the mansion. She moved through a few doors before she noticed the oddities. She opened a door, and her foot prints were present in the room as before, but they were going in a different direction. A frown formed on her face, and she looked around her. That meant that the rooms were changing, and that the secret of the labyrinth was in the changing of the room. So what caused the change? The pattern of the floor wasn't changed, so it wasn't the room moving around.
A thought occurred to her. Looking up to the door, Nozomi examined it thoroughly. She walked through the door, closing it behind her, and turned around. Sure enough, upon her closing the door, and opening it up the room had changed, and this new room didn't even have any trace of her footprints. She didn't walk through that door, and went to the other doors in her room, looking at each of them. Some of them had distinct patterns that matched the other door, but there was another that didn't, and as she opened it, her footsteps were on the other side of the room. A smile as she figured out what she needed to do, and Nozomi was off.
Running through the rooms again, Nozomi only used the normal doors, and blasted through the course with very little issues. She never came across her own foot prints again, which meant she was taking the right path. A surprise came on some people travelling through the maze when Nozomi entered through the room and blasted through another room, but she was gone so fast they didn't even know what had happened. It didn't take her long to complete the course, opening the final door and running into an empty room with a goal post that she recognized from before in the last course.
Touching the goal post, Nozomi watched the world swirl around her, and she was back to the world above, Yokai and Oni surrounding her and cheering and laughing. She had been the first person to make it back through the maze, and everyone else were watching multiple monitors with the other contestants still hopelessly lost in the labyrinth. "
Congratulations Nozomi Himitsu. You're our first to make it through. Step up to collect your prize." She did so, gathering up her tickets and left in order to get set up for the next course of the event. She couldn't wait to see what the next course would offer her as a challenge. With 2 down, she only needed 3 more wins and then she was qualified for the championships.
