C-Rank Mission Boar Hunts:

Jamie was a bit nervous as he held his hand to his chest, he was going to be taking on his first C-rank mission and was going to be partnered up with another shinobi. He read a few of the details on his partner and was not sure if he would be useful or not. Jamie had mostly been gathering herbs, delivering mail and fixing the bakery. Not to mention the silly mission where he had to find the man's shoe only for the man to already have it pretty much right there next to his foot.

Jamie equipped his tanto on its sheath behind his lower back as he prepared to use it in a dagger style stance so to speak. He pocketed a few of his kunai, shuriken and decided to wear the new cheap shoes he got from the store the other day. He was hoping to make a good impression as he stood near the edge of the forest waiting for his mission partner to arrive as the wind blew through his hair he became anxious as his heart was racing with excitement and fear all at the same time. He was here to embrace this new challenge and also to meet his partner who he hoped would get along well with him since he had always done missions alone and was not sure how they would work together.

Jamie slapped both his cheeks and decided he would stop worrying about it and just accept what comes. Right now they had to eliminate a threat and perhaps they would also get to eat the boar as he became a bit hungry as well at the thought of the tasty wild bacon.

Up early, the lithe Hyuga stood in front of a mirror, staring at himself as he got himself ready, hairbrush and comb in hand. Being careful, he pushed his hair back, the long strands of black being combed neatly behind him into a long trailing ponytail. The grey eyes of the Byakkugan stared almost emotionless as he got himself ready, stepping away from the mirror. Clad in a blue and white kimono, the Hyuga walked towards the door of his apartment with an elegance one would expect from a bird in flight, gliding upon the wind. At his side was a pouch which contained his supply of weapons – 6 senbon needles, and a singular kunai. Prepared, he left the building, towards the woodland of which he was to meet his to be mission partner.

After a roughly thirty minute walk through the village, and out of the main gate, the Hyuga child arrived at the location, looking down and studying the one of whom he was assigned to work with in silence as he approached. A small figure who seemed flimsy. A child. Not one to judge a book by its covers after having personally witnessed a cat shinobi, he approached with silent footfalls. Coughing to ensure that the other person’s attention was on him, he bowed his head in greeting before speaking up. “Greetings, companion. My name is Izayoi, of the branch family, and I do believe the two of us are to partake in this mission together. I will not pretend to be the best among the shinobi of the leaf, for to assign titles to oneself is merely arrogance, and I hope we may get along, and accomplish this swiftly.”

Standing up straight once more, he offered a smile, gesturing further into the forest. “If I recall, we are to exterminate some boars that have been causing the local residents some trouble. I will allow you to take the lead, and if there is any way at all that I can assist, please say so, and I will either offer guidance, or physical aid such as protection. Now, considering you are here, I assume that means you are ready to depart. I suggest we head south, towards the location they were last spotted, and from there we track them, and proceed to begin the hunt. I would hate to leave the boars waiting after all. It would be rude to do such.”

Jamie waited for a while and then felt like someone was gazing at him, but it was probably just his imagination. He thought he felt the wind shift, but mistook it for his imagination until someone fell gently beside him as he heard the cough and his right hand reached close to his tanto, before recognizing the appearance seemed to match up with the brief, although he felt they were a bit too brief as he pretty sure it said his partner would be a guy.

This beautiful navy blue haired guy, who could be a lady as his mind was busy getting more confused as he just quickly inspected the blue and white kimono. After a second or two he decided not to bother asking and just accept his partner as he or she is. He also found that pouch to the side was probably similar to his and meant for basic weapons or tools for use in their mission.

The one who met with him greeted him with a light bow and said his name was Izayoi of the branch family, as he took note of that wondering if it had anything to do with family trees and most trees having roots and branches. He said he believed they were to take on this mission together and that he would not pretend to be one of the best shinobi in the leaf. He mentioned something about titles giving one arrogance and though he felt a sting from hearing that, he did want to be given a title not by himself, but by those around him. He said he hoped they would get along and that they could get done quickly as the guy smiled, having heard his voice it made it more clear he was a guy.

As he stood up straight Jamie had snapped out of his inspection as he bowed his head slightly as he made his introduction, "I am Jamie, let's do our best" as he raised his head not wasting too much time with his introduction. He looked on as Izayoi gestured him into the forest as it was time for them to get going as he nodded his head slightly in acceptance of the gesture.

The guy repeated a few of the mission details that he recalled as Jamie just nodded again, it seemed this shinobi really liked talking a lot as Jamie became a bit nervous since he felt like he might be too quiet compared to his companion. He was told to take the lead as he stood up straight and turned around, he turned to face south and began to run as fast as he could in the general direction and it was at this time he already knew he was one of the slowest shinobi out there as he prepared his technique in order to make up for his lack of speed and their loss of time.

Jamie faced the palm of his left hand straight in front of him as he held his right hand in a reverse grip on the tanto on his lower back as he used the technique he had developed in order to aid his speed in the battle field. The wind release technique gale force as a wind would pick up around and in front of Jamie for about forty meters in front of them and with a large five meter radius as it would seem like the technique would disappear in a flash as they went from one point to another extremely fast. Soon they would reach an area with some smashed shrubs, damaged goods and a chipped off tusk which may be from a boar as Jamie stopped to scout the area, then looked to his partner as he did not trust his own judgement on this.

"Izayoi, can you scout from up there please" as he pointed up to the trees vaguely. He did not have the skill to do it himself yet, and even if he did it would be better to let the one with better skills do it. He knew to accept his place beneath his seniors, until the time would come that he can truly stand alongside them as equals.

Wind Release: Galeforce:

Izayoi watched over the small person who gave a much briefer introduction. Their name suited their look, something he would deem as an oddity. A small individual, with a name that suggested he was quite far from home, or perhaps from a foreign place that quite simply, Izayoi didn’t care to ask about. Instead, as the boy led on, Izayoi followed along, silently stepping across the leaves and roots. With that, the boy took off in a run, something which Izayoi could keep up with at a gentle pace. A light jog which emphasised to him the difference in physical abilities between himself and this silent, awkward genin.

Shifting his posture, Izayoi watched as the slow genin prepared a technique of some kind, activating his byakkugan to watch what was occurring and keep himself aware. Chakra coursed through the small person’s tenketsu, flowing into a particular hand before suddenly erupting forth and into the breeze, setting a large burst that sent Izayoi and the boy flying forwards. Having been able to be slightly prepared for it through the ability to see it coming, Izayoi adjusted his posture upon landing, looking around the location that they arrived, not far from where they were when the technique was first used. He inspected the area. Trampled shrubbery, broken ornaments and pottery, and a broken fang. Ignoring Jamie for the moment, who pointed for Izayoi to look from the trees, Izayoi first looked down at the shrubbery, inspecting the direction it was trampled in. From the appearance, the boar had travelled from the west and begun making its way east. He hummed, moving his head to the side and crouching down to inspect how crushed the plant had been. The shrubbery showed no signs of regaining its height, however it was also apparent that it had already sprung back up somewhat due to not being entirely flattened. This made the search easier for the Hyuga.

Then, he walked over to the fang, ignoring the clattered artificial product mess that was clearly destroyed along with the shrubs. Picking up the shattered piece of bone-like substance, he turned it over a few times, looking it up and down. The texture was frail and brittle, and the break area suggested it was a tusk that had broken from impact with a rough object. Likely a tree, or a belonging. Without a care, Izayoi checked the sharpness of the bone, pricking his thumb on it. A small bubble of blood that dripped down shortly after gave him his answer. With that, he turned, putting the fang into his weapons pouch before turning to the tree Jamie had gestured. “Sorry for the delay. I’ll get right on it, although I advise we head east.”

With that, Izayoi leapt up, erupting chakra from the back tenketsu of his body so that in a near instant he would appear atop the tree branch after propelling himself upwards and forwards. Stretching his arms, he proceeded to rebalance himself and crouch down, focusing intently on his eyes to discover the whereabouts of the target, or potentially, targets. After waiting for Jamie to make even the slightest motion of moving, he began to manoeuvre through the tree top canopies, steady in motion and being sure to not go too far ahead of the genin as he looked around. Birds, birds, and more birds. He sighed, a quiet exasperation to himself. A simple boar hunt. Yet were he to deal with this mission alone, he could likely have found the boar and murdered it by now. Still, there was a pro to this, as he could help the younger shinobi learn, and perhaps grow to become inspired by Izayoi. Any who would be willing to view him as a superior, those were the allies he required. And should he aid and nurture this child, allow them to fulfil the mission with a sense of gratitude towards Izayoi, then…

The thought was cut off as a sign entered his vision, the first boar. With a burst, he leapt through the next two trees to get a closer look, grinning to himself as he nodded. A pack of boars, with a singular large one that matched the description. With a lightness, he hopped down from the tree, landing in front of Jamie with a finger to his lips in a silencing motion. “We have ourselves some boars not far from here. You lead, and I will pretend any from leaving.”

Jutsu used:

Jamie watched as Izayoi seemed to be collecting items and debris like a skilled gatherer as he began to wonder if they could collect herbs together since it would be useful to have someone who seemed so interested in gathering stuff. Though Jamie thought Izayoi might be having trouble since his veins around his eyes were ready to burst, at least from Jamie's point of view as he decided to ask about it or look into it later.

Izayoi was one of the nicest guys he had ever met, and while Arashi was nice his mood swings and literal personality split made Arashi a bit of a confusing guy, though he was still Jamie's friend. He apologized for making Jamie wait as he did not think too much of it, but a part of the wait did bother him slightly as he looked down a bit saddened. He advised Jamie to head east as he thought about it after looking on the ground and their surroundings it sounded a bit wrong, though he figured maybe he will figure it out later as he decided to accept Izayoi's advice.

Izayoi used some boosting dash ability as Jamie began to follow him slowly while jogging as he did not want to run and get tired, that and he may burn out his feet again. He already went to hospital a few times for hurting his feet, though he was still rather slow. He noticed that even though Izayoi was so fast, he kept stopping to let him catch up as he felt a bit bad about that looking down slightly, but looking in front of him every now and then so he would not run into something as well as turning his head up to look to Izayoi.

Jamie stopped moving as for some reason Izayoi was no longer advancing as he closed in slowly he was about to stop when he noticed it. Izayoi leapt through the next two trees like a blur as Jamie nearly lost track as he dashed to catch up to Izayoi slightly before stopping as Izayoi stopped him and placed fingers on his lips as he did a slight back step sensing danger from Izayoi before blinking as he nodded. He realized that he was being instructed to be silent, though he did not get why his instincts made him feel like this guy might actually be dangerous. He decided to think it was probably those scary veins that he was worried about, and not the fact that Izayoi was stronger then him in every way.

He was told to lead and then nodded as he went forward carefully as he noticed one and a few more then realized he could maybe take out the one silently. He dashed in as silent as he could drawing his tanto he jumped and stabbed the boar on top of its head. That was not deep enough as the boar raged and spun around he fell on the ground as he rolled to get back up as he had dirt on his face and shirt as well as a bit of blood on his sword.

The large boar did not seem to pay attention as the other three boars managed to start surrounding him as instead of running away from him they were going after him. Jamie was a bit confused, but he did not have time to relax as the boar with the cut charged him head on, if his blade could not cut deep enough what could he do as he slashed towards the boar the tusk clashed against his sword as he managed to deflect the boar and cut the side of its cheek and ear as he mistook this for a fair fight. The other three had used that distraction and charged in as Jamie swung his blade two of them dodged as the other one knocked his sword out of his inexperienced hands as it went for a headbutt he blocked it by holding the boar's tusks but was being pushed back as he jumped and stepped on its nose and jumped. The other two started heading towards his landing point as he through his three kunai making them stop for a moment as they dodged it again.

He was surrounded again in that moment as the largest boar began turning around as it was chewing on something meaty. He formed a triangle hand seal very quickly as the boars charged he needed to buy time and would take time to think on a strategy as the largest boar would feel a bit irritable. Wind whirled around Jamie and pushed all four boars back as they began charging again a few times before circling him slowly after realizing there was a windy barrier as Jamie wondered what he was going to do when his jutsu stopped.

Wind Release: Whirlwind:

Izayoi sighed, rolling his eyes as the boy took him a bit too literally and with far too much overenthusiasm in his gesture for him to lead. With not strategy, and just a sprint and attack, the genin ran out towards the boars. Without much grace, Izayoi watched the boy stab the boar in the head, and then proceed to fall over, and get surrounded. Still, it would be overly harsh to say he wasn’t impressed by the use of the technique that the boy used to keep himself safe – the boars quickly going flying in the other direction, and a mass of chakra surrounding him. Still, it looked like he hadn’t thought further than that. So, it was Izayoi’s time to step in, and clean up the mess.

Hopping out from the tree copse, Izayoi quickly pulled three senbon total from his weapons pouch, throwing them into the face of the boar that had already been stabbed. One senbon landed in each eye, while the third went directly into the middle of its nose. In agony, the beast squealed out, gathering the attention of the rest of the boars as Izayoi didn’t waste any time. Shifting on his feet after a quick sprint, he struck with his hands at the senbon, looking to risk piercing his fingers to push them further in. However, just before the moment of contact, as the boar began to regain its bearings, Izayoi’s hand gesture shifted, now gripping the senbon before he thrusted his hands forward, then up, ripping the senbon forcefully out of the boars eyes, which squealed in agony as its eyes were forcefully removed and dropped to the ground, the boar quickly following suit.

Two of the remaining boars then proceeded to run at the Hyuga, who simply turned with a spin of the heel, withdrawing his kunai from the pouch. Putting his finger through the loop, the boy spun around, pushing the blade into the neck of one boar, and kicking off it to propel himself away, yanking the kunai out so that blood began to spurt onto the ground below. Still, Izayoi didn’t stop, using the momentum to roll back onto his feet before throwing the kunai at the uninjured boar of the two, the third and fourth now also going to circle him. Shifting forwards, he gathered chakra into his palms, before striking at the two boars he had just been attacking, striking into their animalistic tenketsu with blow after blow, strike after strike. Squeals resounded through the woods as he struck first twice, then four times, then eight times, then sixteen times, then a further thirty two times, both boars collapsing onto the ground in a shiver.

Then with a sickening swiftness, he span on his heel once more, lunging forwards to strike one of the two boars on the head, hitting it with the same palm motions a total of eight times, before hitting it once more with a final ninth strike. The boar began to convulse and scream, thrashing about on the spot wildly. Izayoi simply stepped back, running away as the last boar began to chase him, turning to his team mate for this mission as he called out. “Listen, I have made it so that those three are easy to finish off! I can eliminate this last one if you wish, however, I think it’d be a good learning experience for you, so, I’ll just keep it busy until you’ve got yourself ready to attack it!” he declared, now playing with the boar by simply evading any strike it made, not making a move to attack back.

Jutsu used:

Jamie knew he had a lot to learn as he felt like he was just a bother to the entire world. He could not really think for himself, and even when he did it was only an after thought. He was trying to find a way to hurt the boars, if he had a better sword he could probably stab the boars easily. However the blade was rusted and it was not the best quality weapon in the world, there was no way he could simply kill one boar with this could he.

As he began thinking on that as the wind kept the beasts at bay, Izayoi hopped out from the tree and faster then Jamie could even keep up he saw three things flying through the air. However it only appeared afterwords that they were indeed needles, though unlike Jamie who tried to cut off their advance with his kunai the more experienced Izayoi sent them at the boar's face. A weak point, as Jamie realized there was more then one point to attack and that maybe there was more to this then simply blaming his weapon for being weak.

The eyes were a point of weakness, but was that the only weakness the boar's had while he was keeping up his jutsu at the time, he tried to learn as much as he could from his mission partner. It was clear that between Jamie, the Boars and Izayoi he was clearly the weakest one here. If survival was for the fittest, then Jamie was not fit to live is what he began thinking. However he was still pushed forward by the idea that he should go on his journey too one day just like the old lady.

Izayoi not only was beating them, he was now also trapped by the four boars as Jamie kept an eye on the largest boar just in case something happened. He did not want to let his guard down since he was not confident he could run away or survive if he dropped it with that big boar still eyeing him.

It did not even last that long, but whatever Izayoi did it took out two of the boars so fast he could not even keep track of what just happened. He could definitely react, but it was useless if he did not actually see what happened as that speed was something he also wanted to have one day. Seeing this display the large boar began moving ever so slowly and then a small boar appeared out of thicket as Jamie prepared to use a combination technique he was once shown by the one who taught him.

***Combination Theme***

Jamie kept up his technique and prepared one that did not require him to move at all as the wind seemed to blow towards all the boars as it attracted the attention of the three and the large one came to their aid sensing danger as its eyes seemed to light with a fire as the weakened boars rose up to push against the winds, his defense still holding them off. He did not have this defense before and developed it in order to use this combination effectively, he may not be too battle orientated but he understood he had to improve on his master's combination. The one who taught him may have long since left, but the teachings live on in Jamie.

He took in a deep breathe gathering his chakra, not even worrying about the boar that Izayoi was dealing with as he trusted him to be able to handle it as the small boar ran away the large boar and the injured ones who just crazily hitting his barrier as it pushed on the other boar was cut off and chasing Izayoi, and that was when Jamie breathed out something that made the boars start to hesitate, while the big one still took to pushing forward not fearing the strangely fire like smell.

The air smelled like something burning, as the wounded boars began to slowly back away, however they were still a bit berserk keeping them from making up their minds. Their instincts told them to run, but their rage told them to charge forward as the largest of them did not know when to give up he had three boars, however he knew his technique was too weak to take them out on its own, which was why he combined them.

With the next deep breathe it was finally time to complete the combination as it was too late for the boars to realize their fate now. The air itself all around them was set aflame as an explosion of flames engulfed the boars with a combination of second and third degree burns all over their bodies, the combination itself made the attack at the level of at least B to A rank in terms of its power and even the speed which was solved by his previous technique. The smell of smoked beef, or in this case pork filled the air as the trees seemed to catch on fire as well. Jamie never knew the full extent of the combinations power though a mastered B-rank technique or any good A-rank technique could be done much faster and at a much lower cost as Jamie kept up his whirlwind defense and fell to one knee as the shock of using so many techniques at once took its toll on him.

The other boar chasing Izayoi would start making a run for it, as the only survivor left it had no choice but to escape now as Jamie was still breathing heavily. The choice between rage and survival got overridden with intense fear for its life, if Jamie was alone he probably could have managed, but he may have lost time on the tracking as well as Izayoi's distraction allowed him more time to think things through.

"I.. za.. take that one please" as he confirmed being a bit too fatigued to do much more right now.

Jutsu Used in Combination:

After a singular, quick burst of fire, and the exhausted appearing Jamie leaving one boar remaining, Izayoi moved over to one of the boar corpses, recovering his kunai. Looping his finger into the ring, the Hyuga spun the blade around a couple of times before sliding towards the final boar, feet stepping only about an inch off the ground in swift strides as he went to end the fight in as swift a moment as possible. Spinning on his heel as if to do one of the Hyuga’s signature moves, the boy span around multiple times at the side of the boar, kicking into a movement with his feet as he span around, blade causing multiple cuts into the flesh of the beast with every movement. He span. He span and finally, his movement finished with a quick leap, and a thrust of the blade down into the neck multiple times. Blood spurting out, and Izayoi’s kimono quickly growing red at the sleeve.

Sighing and flicking the blood off his kunai, the chuunin went around, plucking the eyeballs off his senbon and retrieving them. Flicking the blood off them in the same manner, the boy put them away into his weapons pouch. A somewhat disinterested look was all he gave as he span around to face Jamie, gesturing around him. “I believe we can call this mission a success. I will return to the village and get the paperwork out of the way and done with, so you can expect your payment to be there when you return. Take your time returning to the village, don’t get lost, and keep yourself rested. Fare well.”

At that, the Hyuga boy turned, and ran off back towards the village, this time at a pace that was not slowing down for the younger boy to keep up. He had gotten blood on his neat kimono, and he already knew how much of a pain that would be to wash out. So, he wished to begin cleaning it as soon as possible. While it was frustrating for him, the mission was complete.

Jamie felt amazed when he watched Izayoi finish off the last boar, it ended so fast it was scary as he noticed the spinning like a top as the blood spurted all over as it looked like the whirl of death. Jamie wondered if he could do something like that with his wind chakra as well, not even taking into account what could be done if he combined it with a fire jutsu for a searing burn that would cut and inflict some intense pain.

Jamie noticed a change of expression as he looked into Izayoi's eyes, he began to wonder if they always looked that empty or if he was just seeing things. Being tired he just took it as him being too tired to see straight as he listened carefully to Izayoi. He was told the mission was successful and that he could take his time to get back to the village. Then in a flash Izayoi was gone as he did not even bother to chase as he walked slowly his arms felt a bit sore from standing still to maintain his jutsu as well as he hurt his arm a bit when defending himself against the boars earlier.

Jamie made his way back to the village to receive his payment and shortly after that he made another visit to the hospital. It seemed that with new missions came new challenges and one thing was certain, he would need to train to be more useful in the future as he realized Izayoi did not need him for this mission. This hurt him in a way that some may never understand, as Jamie wondered if anyone needed him at all.
