D-rank
Two days, now. It wasn't long until....
Yes, whatever the day after tomorrow heralded. That was then. The moonrise would hold his attention for the time being. Such a common wonder, that.
Only three hours earlier had he finished an errand for Haema-baa, the elderly woman that lived just opposite the Iwagakure no Sato Administration Building. Delivering notarized documents to citizens around town was one of his less-preferred jobs, but he at least got the pay. However, it left with a sort of...excess of energy. It was unlike him to end the day....unsatisfied, in a way. Perhaps he had accomplished a good round of labor, but there was still some part of him that persisted. Perhaps it was the 'him' back from the smaller village, out near Heat Haze. To that smaller Sol, a day's work well done was equivalent to aching muscles, heaving lungs, and sleeping like a rock.
Today was not that day. Not yet.
Serendipity found him, consternated as he turned in his mission, revealed as a flyer posted on the mission board. A sort of...."unofficial" bit sponsored by the village itself, a chance to keep oneself and one's peers sharp. It stood out to him, perhaps, in its plainness; while the other requests were quite formal, this one looked handwritten in a...less calligraphic sense. He tore one of the date slips off; tonight, 2030 hours, the rock-face coliseum.
Yes, this place was surely curious. One could see out to the Valley of Mountains from within, a view of majesty befitting the valiant matches that were held here. He couldn't contain some slight shaking, surfacing as alternating foot-tapping. In a way, he was nervous. It was...truly, his first fight as a ninja, if this could be called a real fight. Nothing was at stake here. Not even pride, as far as he was concerned.
Opposite the sprawling scenery was a semicircular amphitheatre, with ample room for whatever combatants were summoned forth to tussle in. Room they'd use, no doubt. Well, he and whoever else was here. It was growing nearer to the time....the earthshine was strong on even the waning crescent, surrounding it in a glow in which one could see the shadowed side. Indeed, even the normally dark world was illuminated a bit more than dimly with this.
Appropriate mood lighting.
