At first Kazekage wanted to send a squad of three inexperienced genins to this mission. So how did Sun end up doing it? Simple - she is as strong as all three genins together. But in reality she just begged the Kazekage to let her go on this mission for she has never seen sea before. It would be a great deed to help the town capture (and yes, Sun wasn't going to let the pirates die. She was there to capture them and make an example of them. If anyone would turn out keen on throat slitting, Sun would also act as the one responsible for all lives - she would stop the citizen with force or without it.
And another reason she wanted to do this mission - she had to get used to travelling before her journey to Kumagakure next week. It was going to be a long way and she had to plan all the belongings she would take with her. This was a good practice if she was going to be absent for a while.
In fact, this turned out to be a worthless practice. The morning before she had to leave, she had packed nothing. Sun hadn't decided on her clothes, she hadn't decided what snacks she wants to take with her and what should she put in her rucksack in the first place. In the end, she only took her medicine bag which was stuffed with unnecessary things like crackers, brush, toothbrush, spare socks and a water bottle. After stuffing herself with breakfast of omlette, and wishing her parents a nice weekend, Sun was ready to leave. She didn't end up caring much about her clothing and just wore the usual kunoichi armor. After all, she did have only 10 minutes after finishing the breakfast. She wasn't going to be late for this journey!
After almost half a day of running across the desert, she was able to finally see a civilization in distance. The coastal town didn't appear as big as she had imagined. There wasn't many houses stretching into the desert. They all were placed alongside the shore. "Weird," the girl thought about off placement of houses.
After entering the city, she was met not by the governor, but by the one in charge of counter-attack for pirates. "Finally! We were expecting you a few hours ago!" the man was shaming Sun. He was a middle-aged plump man with some grey hairs between his otherwise dark black hair and beard. He had a sword by his side. It was poorly made and would break upon contact even with a kunai - Sun could judge the metal that was clearly made in haste. "They could as well be using wooden sticks," she thought to herself, restraining to say it out loud.
"Shall I show you around?" the man offered. Sun obviously accepted in hopes that the man was going to show around the town. But it was quite opposite - they went right to the sea and man in charge was just going to talk about traps and enemy. "So, we've heard that raids are usually carried out by a single ship. But they have two ships in total. Each is manned by about 10 men, we can't know for sure," he held a little pause and rethinked what else was important to say, "Oh, they don't have any serious weapons. They just come - jump out of their ships and take whatever they can. They use swords, just like this one," the man slapped the thing hanging freely by his side. It made a metallic noise. "At least, they don't have decent weapons," this time she said it out loud, forgetting that average citizen will be terrified upon seeing sharpened metal. Even if it wasn't made for ninja purposes, weapons still can hurt.
"So, about our preparations.." the man went on, "Not that much, we just planked out the windows and barricaded all the doors to our houses," Sun was in shock, but the man didn't notice it in her face, "I will leave immediately, once there's sight of ship in the sea. I don't remember where I put it, but anyway - I have trumped which I will use to signal of enemy." "Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying you have no traps or anything?" Sun was confused and thought she was just missing something. But the man replied with ease:"Of course not. You are supposed to handle this. You are the Suna-nin after all," after which the man walked off and used some kind of improvised binoculars to look at the horizon.
Sun went the opposite way of the man. She was thinking out loud:"What the hell? How am I supposed to handle 10 men? Do I look like a fucking jounin? No wonder Kazekage initially wanted to send 3 genins. At least then there would be 3,33333 pirates per shinobi. Not 10 per shinobi like right now. And that's only the best case scenario," she groaned and kicked sand. "I bet Kazekage didn't even knew how lazy these people are. Can't blame him. But my pay is definitely getting raised after I finish here," it was good to hear something positive from Sun - she knew she can do this no matter what. She was a Bulate after all. Was there an enemy a Bulate couldn't handle? These blunt weak weapons would just be a treat to kyoni. No one except for the pirates would get seriously hurt.
Since there were no traps to be checking out or anything else to do since all the citizens were just hiding indoors, Sun decided that this would be some nice time to rest. The coast was filled with umbrellas to protect from sun and beach chairs. Why not lie down? No one was looking, Sun even undressed and left only her pink panties and bar on, in case the man decided to wander past her.
Sun definitely got sleepy after a while, being unconcerned by the raid that's bound to happen any time. She was here on a journey after all - enjoying the weatcher and chill breezes from the sea was a bonus that only a fool would pass upon. Drifting in sweet dreams and getting too much sun for skin that was not treaded by sun cream, the girl was woken after hearing a loud and terrible melody of a trumped in the air. With dim in her eyes she stared confused at the sea and tried to see how many there were.
2 ships at the horizon. It ruined Sun's mood. She had told herself there would be only one and that was what she had mentally prepared. She got dressed back into her armor and left the bag hanging on the chair. She infused a block of sand with her chakra at one point whilst waiting for the ships to get closer. When she could see distinct figures of a man, she started counting the numbers of enemies. "Only 14, huh," she whispered to herself.
Soon, sun faced screeching men and some women running amok the town. "Hey, you're supposed to try and kidnap me or something," for it was hard to take them all on if they were just running around. It clearly raised some attention towards her and she now faced three men who attacked at the same time. Sun blocked with a single kunai and was able to block one of the sword, taking cuts on both her arms. "Heh," she laughed, as usual when showing off her Kekkei Genkai. Sun's techniques to win this battle were simple - kicks to the face, blocks with a kunai and healing. Ocassionally she had to rely on her worms to gouge on some pirate for a while, to induce fears in them. Oh, how easy it was for her when those pety swords could barely cut inch deep. And it was healed back immediately.
After almost an hour of fighting, Sun had taken about a cut from everyone. And she had succesfully knocked everyone out. Pathetic 14 bodies on the ground awaiting their capture. By luck, the girl found the trumped that the man used to wake her up. She blew in it to get some attention from citizens. When some of the doors finally were open, Sun said "All down. String them up and put them in jail or escort them to Suna. None of my business," Then she faced the man who was apparently in charge, "I'm waiting my payment, buddy. With a big fat bonus preferrably."
Exhausted she went back to the beach chair and picked up her medical bag. After a quick examination, she determined that there were no wounds on her that would need bandages or any attention in the first place. Kyoni indeed were handy. It is going to be a slow journey home.
