Rakurai
D-rank
The sun had only been up for a few hours by the time Rakurai reached the base of the mountain known as Sky Point, the birds were chirping the morning dew still shimmered in the sun light and the flowers looked so beautiful the different colors of all the different types of flowers from roses to dandelions the different cluster of flowers next to the other, the different contrasts of all the colors right there in front of him was a more beautiful site than Rakurai would of normally thought they were. Before setting out up the mountain Rakurai took a few seconds to assess his situation and his mission, according to the letter he received this morning by carrier hawk, as a newly appointed Genin and his very first mission since graduating from the academy almost two weeks prior, he was tasked with taking a beacon up the mountain as high as he could get and then plant the beacon as well as a short report about the wildlife or foliage of sky point and then return to the village to receive his payment for completing the mission. Rakurai looked at the beacon in his hand it was not big just slightly longer than his hand the bottom looked like a tent spike which he assumed was to make it easier to stick in the ground the only difference that Rakurai could see between the beacon and a tent spike was the fact that the beacon had a reflective filament at the top which again Rakurai assumed was meant to be able to be seen after planting the beacon, but it was still small enough to carry in one hand and would not hinder his movement or slow him down especially considering he could just stick it in his pack and not worry about it until he was ready to place the beacon on the mountain, Rakurai was not a fan of the mission but he was even less of a fan of doing nothing if anything this mission would at least keep him busy for the time being and as a bonus he was getting paid to walk up a mountain. Rakurai decided he would take the pathway up the mountain as there was no rush to finish this mission nor did he feel the need to over exert himself for such a ridiculous reason. After jotting some details down about the scenery and the wildlife he saw at the base of the mountain he decided that it was time to Start out up the foot path. Rakurai just relaxed walking up the path taking his time and enjoying the scenery making occasional notes about what it was that he saw before continuing higher up. The sky was beautiful today but Rakurai did not really care about the weather as he would be doing this even if there was a storm seeing as he loved storms especially the lightning, but today there was not a cloud in the sky and he had a feeling it was just going to ve a sunny day which was ok with him too. As Rakurai walked higher and higher up the mountain he started to notice that there was less and less grass and trees and more and more rocks, however there were still there were a few trees scattered around and some of the most beautiful flowers he had ever seen more so than any of the ones he had seen at the base of the mountain, their sweet scent filled Rakurai's lungs giving a relaxing aroma to the now thin air. As he continued higher he started to notice that the walking path was growing smaller and smaller compared to what it was at the base of the mountain, and despite the fact that the was not a cloud to be seen in the sky the higher up the mountain he went the more snow there was that covered the ground and the fewer signs of life he saw, the air was much thinner up here compared to the base of the mountain making it harder to breath the higher he went. Rakurai knew that he would not be able to go too high just as he knew he would not be able to survive long in the thinned air it would only be a matter of time before he would have to turn back. 'The letter did not say I had to go to the top of the mountain' Rakurai thought to himself as he looked around at the world around him he saw the mountain range off in the distance he saw Kumogakure, Rakurai jotted down some more notes and made sure to be descriptive about the beautiful site of the village. He knew he would have to head back down the mountain before too much longer or he would risk passing out from the lack of oxygen, so he grabbed the beacon out of his pack and began to look for a place to plant it. He thought he had found a good spot but just as he was about to plant it he saw something in the corner of his eye that caught his attention, not that much further up the mountain there was a very dim flashing yellowish light the site of this intrigued Rakurai and so with his beacon still in his hand he walked towards the strange flashing light. As he got closer he realized that there were more of them further up the mountain each one higher than the last some were group together others were far apart, when he got to the first flashing light, the one that caught his attention he realized it was another beacon. 'Of course others have done this' he thought to himself ' it must be like a test that everyone has to go though' as he looked down the pathway that lead up the mountain he noticed even more, 'well there is no way I am planting mine lower than someone else' he said to himself gripping the beacon in his hand tighter he pushed on climbing higher up the mountain. After a few more minutes of walking he came to the end of the path, coming to an abrupt dead end in the side of the mountain. There was a large cluster of beacons here, and after looking up the mountain side he noticed that there was not any that he could see, and so what he had to do was simple he would never settle for second best or even as good as everyone else he had to be better and for that he needed to climb higher. Slipping his beacon back into his pack he spit on his hand rubbing them together briefly before starting his climb up the mountain side cliff to get a better place to plant his beacon before returning to the village. He did not get very far until a rock he using as a hand hold fell out and he almost fell, luckily he still had a good hold with his other hand and was able to hold on and not fall, once he was over the initial shock of almost falling to his death he decided that it would be best to just plant his beacon where he was and then getting the heck off this forsaken mountain and back to the village. Grabbing his beacon he slammed it into the mountain side planting it deep into the mountain to where only the filament was showing, as he started back down the mountain side towards the path so that he could start back to the village his beacon began flashing like all the others he had seen, Rakurai assumed it had to do with the magnetic force inside the ground that causes it to flash but he really did not care about it now that his mission was done and after reaching the pathway he started back down the mountain returning to the village to collect his reward. Once he arrived back in the village he headed straight to the administration office to turn in his report and get his Ryo for completing the mission, despite the fact that he found it to be such a tedious mission he did find a sense of accomplishment in the fact that he was able place his beacon high than all the others he had seen of those who had done this same mission before him.
