Ashi's mission this time around was something slightly different then then the norm she'd been taking, and different was good. She'd been informed of a vandal that had been running around causing destruction to an elderly gentleman's home; that didn't sit too well with her. She believed in respecting the elderly, and hoped like hell she'd easily be able to catch the kid. The first thing, of course, she had to do was go meet up with Kareru. So, when she'd taken off running that was the direction she had headed in. Outside of his house she stopped, pausing only a moment to take a quick glance around before knocking on his door.
Sensitive ears picked up the sound of movement inside, slow walking, even a little grumbling and Ashi looked down at Akai with a raised eyebrow. Her attention turned to the door as it was opened and she posted a pleasant smile on her face. "Hello, sir. My name is Ashi. I've been assigned to help catch that vandal who's been causing harm to your home. I'd like to ask you a few questions, first, if I may?"
The old man looked her up and down with a narrowed gaze before with a grunt he stepped backwards and out of the way, motioning with his hand for her to enter. After Ashi and Akai entered he shut the door behind them and walked over to his chair where he sat down. "So, you're going to catch that brat, eh?"
"Yes, sir. That's the plan. I'd like to know a little about him, though, if you don't mind. Might make it easier and faster to catch him."
A toothy smile actually broke across the old man's face. "Well, he likes candy, the pudgy boy he is. He also likes causing problems to my home. He lives nearby." With that the man reached over to the table, picking up the pen and scribbling a quick note. "This is his mothers address."
Ashi took the piece of paper and pocketed it before nodding. "Alright. I'll make sure I catch him."
"Good luck."
Ashi grinned and turned, walking out of the mans home and closing the door quietly behind herself. She glanced at the darkening sky and grinned. "We won't have long to wait, Ashi. Lets find a place to hide." With that the two took off, positioning themselves in the nearby darkening shadows, safe from the youthful gazes of the vandal or vandals.
Ashi and Akai didn't have to wait long at all, of course. As soon as night fully hit both picked up the sounds of movement and the almost sickly sweet smell of candy.
It didn't take long for the kid to come into sight, toilet paper in hand. Was he really planning on toilet papering that old mans house? She paused, quickly deciding to wait and see what the kid was going to do before stepping in and stopping him. Better he be caught in the act, right?
Akane didn't waste any time as he began to unwind the roll a little before throwing it over some of the shrubbery in the front of the mans home.
Ashi grinned, wickedly. Not only was she going to handle this, but she was going to scare this poor kid shitless in the process. With bended knee she launched herself a good bit into the air to come landing in front of the kid, only two or three inches from the child's face. "What do you think you're doing here?"
Akane screamed all while tumbling backwards to fall onto the hard ground. "Who-who are you?!"
Ashi smirked a bit, glancing up at Akai came out of the shadows to tower over the kid from behind, making sure he had no way to run. "I'm here to take you in. You're destroying property, that's a crime, you know? Looks like you won't be able to aspire to become a ninja since you've chosen a life of crime so early on..." Was she stretching things a bit? Definitely, but better to scare the kid while he's young than have him growing up thinking mommy was going to get him out of it all the time.
"What? I was just fooling around! I didn't mean anything by it, honest!"
"Why should I believe you? This isn't the first time you've targeted this mans house... are you saying you're going to change your ways?"
"Yes! I'll stop I promise!"
"Hmm.. I don't know. People like to lie a lot when they're in trouble..."
"Please don't arrest me. I'll... I'll tell my mom what I did and everything, I'll even help fix things I broke and stuff!"
Ashi seemed to ponder this for a moment, though she was really just pulling the kids leg and watching him squirm a bit while she 'thought about it' as he thought she was doing. "Alright then.. off to your mothers house, than it's back here. I think I'll have you work through the night since that's when you like to do your crimes."
It was a short and very quiet walk back to Akane's mothers house, the kid walking like a condemned prisoner. Ashi didn't blame him, knowing most parents wouldn't be pleased with finding their child being escorted home after being caught in trouble. After reaching their home Akane opened the door, calling for his mother who came over, looking anxious after spotting Ashi.
"Tell her, Akane, lets get it over with."
"Mom.. I went to Mister Kareru's home and toilet papered it. I've also been the one doing the other stuff that he keeps complaining about, too."
"You did what?!", his mother practically shouted before seeming to catch herself. She then looked to Ashi. "What are you planning on doing with my son?"
Ashi looked from Akane to his mother, folding her arms across her chest. "Well, while I think a harsher punishment is needed I believe that he's truly scared enough now to stop vandalizing people's property. I do, however, feel that he should at least spend the evening fixing up Mister Kareru's home... since he seems to enjoy causing his mischief at night, anyway."
Akane's mother nodded, pointing out the door. "Go Akane, and you're grounded when you get home. Don't think doing a few chores is going to get you out of this one."
With that Ashi turned and left, leading Akane to Mister Kareru's door. A knock, simple conversation, and some supply gathering and Ashi had acquired everything that Akane was going to need to fix the house back up.
Akane was slow at first, and Ashi simply stood by a nearby tree and leaned on it, or the house depending on where Akane was working. The kid started with cleaning up the debris he'd left in the yard, all while picking up things he'd knocked over. He finished with painting, which took a good few hours and a couple tries. By the time he was finished it was early in the morning hours and the kid was exhausted. But, Mister Kareru's house was back in top shape again, and Ashi knew he'd be happy about that.
"Come on, Akane. Lets get you home.." With that she lead the kid back to his house, the two walking in silence as Ashi wanted to give the kid time to reflect on everything before his mother got at him.
"Thank you, for not arresting me.", Akane said as he paused in opening his door.
"Next time I won't be so easy on you... so you better not mess up again."
Akane nodded and closed the door behind him, leaving Ashi to take the slow walk back to turn in the mission, hoping someone was still up so she could get some shut eye afterwards.
