A silent body had been watching a little genin make his rounds for the better part of this morning. he had been assigned to teach the kid a lesson, but he first wanted to guage his quarry's abilities. This was his first time interacting with a ninja from a major village, and while he was confident he could take this genin, he wanted to see what the little guy was made of. Izumi watched from far each time the genin passed Izumi expected to be seen from his hiding place, but each time the recently graduated genin remained oblivious. Izumi rotated a piece of bark from a nearby tree in his hands as the genin passed by him yet again, leaving him plenty of time to prepare a trap for the genin.

Izumi wished that he had brought any weapon with him for this mission or for the missions to come. He only had a fist full of items that he had managed to scrounge together while he waited for the genin's path to come full circle. He found it almost ironic that in a place so rattled with the signs of chaos and conflict, so rattled with disposed weapons and bodies, there were little no usable weapons. The Ronin jumped between trees carefully inspecting each and every weapon, most were so fragile from the wear of time that he could break them against the firm trees that they were sprawled out in leaving few usable items. After the few minutes of preparation time that Izumi knew he had to spare based on the speed he observed the fresh genin he was stalking, he had only collected one basic kunai, and a half dozen senbon. They weren't what he preferred, but he would have to make due with what he had.

The young kiri genin began passing by again not noticing Izumi once more, instead something else caught his eye, causing him to pause and stare at the base of a tree nearby, the tree that Izumi had taken the kunai out of. Slowly this dawned on Izumi and his heart rate significantly increased as he realized that he had created marker indicating his presence at every instance where he had collected the arsenal that he now had. In order for him to keep the element of surprise he would have to move quickly into a position where he could directly attack his target. Slowly he moved around the base of the tree roughly 20 meters behind the kiri genin, knocking a few leaves from the canopy as he did so. Izumi with his left hand tightly gripped a kunai and with his right hand threw a senbon at his opponent. Immediately after the senbon was thrown, the Kansen-Suru ronin launched himself from the canopy at the genin below swinging his kunai to stab the young man in the chest.

The kiri genin's suspicious eyes snap towards the senbon flying towards him blocking it with his right forearm, letting it embed itself half an inch into his flesh, and moving forward to meet Izumi. With his two empty hands he grabbed Izumi, his left hand interlocked with Izumi's right and his right grabbing Izumi's  left. His right hand shaking under the weight of Izumi's strike, but not releasing the kunai wielding hand before his hand glowing alight with electricity burning Izumi. Izumi's eyes grew wide with shock at the spontaneous casting of the jutsu, and the electrical burns that he received from it causing him to drop the kunai in his hand. The little genin surprised his older counterpart causing Izumi to yank his hands backwards, and pull the younger, kiri genin towards himself drilling his knee in the genin's gut stunning him and pushing him towards a nearby tree. As the kiri genin began to get back up Izumi grabbed two rocks from the ground and threw them at the kiri genin, and as the genin began to catch the the rocks they curved the first one hitting the senbon in his forearm driving it in another half inch, knocking his arm back. The second rock curving and hitting the senbon again, this time nailing the senbon into a tree behind him.

The genin's mind raced, with his arm temporarily immobilized by the senbon going through it, his options were much more limited in the way of ninjutsu. He noticed a few weapons just behind Izumi that, if he could reach them, would provide him with a significantly better chance of getting out of this fight alive. the desperation on his face grew more apparent as he could feel the hope of winning the battle grow. leaving his guard down as he became distracted by his thoughts. the young genin made himself an excellent target for the ninja he was fighting. The kiri genin was too busy trying to brace his mind for the pain that would come with ripping the senbon out of his hand, and he in haled deeply and clenched as he attempted to yank it off, but much to his dismay Izumi had followed his sight lines and now he to was aware that there were some usable weapons on the ground around them.

Izumi didn't hesitate for a moment when the younger ninja attempted to escape, and he held the genin's arm down with a kunai, cutting ever so slightly into the side of the boys arm, as he delivered a hard sharp kick to the boys lower floating ribs, quickly setting his foot back down, and delivering another to the same spot causing genin to lose all of the air in his lungs all at once. The tree shook in reaction to the blows that were landed on the boy shaking and letting auburn and orange leaves begin to rain down on the two of the. With a visceral grunt Izumi hit the boy with the back of his kunai, making him take a couple of steps to the side as his hand yanked on the senbon embedded in it sapping it out of the bark.

Izumi almost felt bad for this kid, being assaulted like this so close to his home, in a place where he should have been safe, and where help should have been no more than a few miles away. Izumi needed to eat though, and empathy was not one of the requirements for this job. He decided that once he was finished with him he would tell this genin that this only happened because he overstretched himself, and as a result he stepped on the toes of some people that maybe he shouldn't have stepped on. A dangerous mistake to make in a world where there are people who will pay to see you put back in your place.

The younger of the two ninja stumbled of to the side, but stood back up firm wanting to show his adversary that he was indomitable. He pulled out the senbon that was lodged in his hands with his teeth holding it in his mouth until he was ready to use it, but as he did so the exposed veins and capalaries that had been damaged by the kunai began to release a stream of his vital, crimson fluid, onto the dirt beneath him. With a quick turn of his head he spat the kunai at Izumi's face hoping to force the older ninja to jump to the side in order to avoid the senbon himself. His feint was an unusual one, and it ended up forcing Izumi to block his own senbon with a his kunai to prevent further damage to his body from the genin. In turn he still provided him with exactly what he had wanted and the genin ran to a katana lodged inside of the dirt, using all of the strength he could muster to pull the rusty, damaged weapon from the earth.  

Izumi, not particularly wanting to be out armed retreated upwards into the canopy where the young genin had to follow him or risk having to defend against an assault from above. As the kiri genin leaped into the tree tops with Izumi, the older ninja's pale, blue, glaucous eyes caught the glimmer of a chain and sickle lodged a nearby tree. Quickly Izumi jumped over and passed the little genin yanking his new tool out of the tree it once dangled from. While it was apparent to him that this weapon wouldn't be able to take a lot of punishment and that it had seen better days Izumi was confident that it could also hold up to the punishment he was about to put it through. Izumi gave the end with the sickle on it a quick spin before letting go and using chakra strings to make it do a broad downward sweeping cut on the genin.

The kiri genin leaped acrobatically out of the way of the incoming weapon, leaving a slight trail of blood behind as he ran along the thick bark of the tree supporting his weight towards the Ronin that had initiated this entire fight. the sickle was easy enough to dodge with its predictable and large trajectory leaving the kiri genin plenty of time to escape its path as he began forming hand seals to initiate a jutsu. The genin's eyes grew more focused as he felt that it was a necessity for him to end this soon so that he would be able to make it back to his village.

It was then that the first words between these two was spoken by Izumi, "Your pride is what has brought this upon you. You should have buried it and left it when you decided to become a ninja. Now both it and you will sleep in the earth's cold sepulcher." The words like in icy mist blew out of the ronin's mouth ever so slightly dampening his opponent's resolve, and this was precisely the opening he was trying to create. Izumi's eyes narrowed as his words cut the genin and a smug grin oozed across his face as the chain that was attached to the sickle behind the genin looped around the kiri genin's ankle catching him as he was going to make the last hand seal. With a quick yank, Izumi threw the his opponent of balance and pulled one of his feet in the air, causing him to incorrectly form the last hand seal of the jutsu.

Once the genin was off balance the rest was easy, the Kansen-Suru nin stepped backwards and fell to the ground pulling the chain attached to the other ninja with him, and as he gracefully landed on his feet he slammed his hands downward with the chain in them sending the genin plummeting face first to the ground. A cloud of dust erupted around the two ninja after the genin had crashed into the forest floor. Within it Izumi had moved over him, and with a hefty kick sent him rolling into a nearby tree, in turn kicking up more dust. Izumi followed after the genin not giving him a second to breathe, and delivered punch, after punch, after bloody punch to the kiri genin's face until the blisters from his burns had popped and the the two weak ninja's blood became indistinguishable from one another.

As the ronin broke the skin on his hand open with the genin's face eventually his quarry would fall unconscious, covered in blood, cuts, abrasions, and bruises. As quickly and meitculously as he had been able to manage Izumi knocked out the genin, despite his words' implications he had never considered killing the genin as it would have been a monetary loss for him, and he imagined that he would be much worse of if he killed a genin from one of the big five villages, so this was his alternative. Thick warm ichor dripped from his fist as he pulled his hand away from the from the genin's face after one last punch, letting the genin fall over onto the forest floor. It didn't make him feel good doing this to someone much younger than himself, but knowing he was going to get paid made the feeling far from bad.

Izumi tied the genin up with the chain from the kusarigama, a binding that wouldn't prove amazingly useful on most ninja, "but for now it shall suffice." Over the course of a few more minutes Izumi dug a hole just large enough for the bound ninja. carefully lifting him he placed his ex-target into the hole, holding him by his collar to keep his head above the lip of the hole as he kicked the cold dirt back into the genin's makeshift tomb. After he'd finished the genin laid unconscious with all but his head submerged in the ground beneath him and the words "here lies pride" facing him. Now that he had finished his job there was no need for anymore harm to come to the genin, so he left him with a message that would teach him to fear death as he walked off out of the woods and away from Kiri.

About an hour or two later, after the genin never returned from his border search he would be discovered by a genin on his team that came to check up on him after he missed lunch with them. His team mate would hastily return him to the village and get him treatment for his his wounded body, but there was damage that hurt him the deepest from his fight with Izumi today that would take much longer to heal completely.
