Clan: Hanafuda Clan
Kekkei Genkai: Card Techniques
Elements: N/A
Specialization: Ninjutsu, Kuchiyose, and Fuuinjutsu
Location: Scattered (compound located in Kirigakure)
Clan History: The Hanafuda clan was a small, average clan residing in Kirigakure with no spectacular abilities. What set them apart was their obsession with playing cards, even if it got them into risky gambling. At some point in time, Hirohito Hanafuda rose to power as the clan leader. With all the riches that came along with it, he became irresponsible and began going into risky gambling like many of his fellow clan members. However, unlike them, he eventually gambled the entire clan compound away to a wealthy businessman who took it as real estate and immediately put it up for sale.
Now homeless, the members of the clan pledged to earn enough money to buy back their lands through performing shinobi missions. As a result, they began to use their cards as weapons initially, but then they found an even greater use for them at harnessing ninjutsu, kuchiyose, and fuuinjutsu. Eventually, they were able to buy back the clan compound and have lived there ever since; however, some of them became so accustomed to the homeless lifestyle that they turned into ronin, many of the descendants of these ronin settling down all across the continent. Many modern day Hanafudas seem to have not learned from the mistakes of their ancestors, gambling off their wealth just like Hirohito Hanafuda.
Kekkei Genkai Description: In addition to being able to throw their playing cards as if they were shuriken, members of the Hanafuda clan are also masters at utilizing these same cards to unleash their jutsu.

Item: Hanafuda Playing Card
Rank: E
Quantity: 52
Price: 1300 per deck
Description: This projectile, on impact with human flesh, pierces half an inch into the target. It can also be used by a Hanafuda clan member to cast card techniques.
Appearance: This four pointed card spans 3 inches from tip to opposing tip, with a small hole in the center.
Members start off with a free deck of cards; although they can purchase more if necessary. As with all E-rank items, these cards automatically replenish themselves after the owner exits a thread.
Card techniques can be divided up into three specializations.
Ninjutsu - Hanafudas use playing cards to cast ninjutsu instead of hand seals. Note that the card used for the ninjutsu is expended; however, as an E-rank item, it replenishes upon thread exit.
Fuuinjutsu - Hanafudas use playing cards to seal objects instead of scrolls.
Kuchiyose - Hanafudas use playing cards to summon creatures instead of summoning scrolls; however, a summoning scroll must still be purchased in order to summon as usual. Note that the card used for the summoning is expended; however, as an E-rank item, it replenishes upon thread exit.
Members of the Hanafuda clan begin with these three specializations at S, C and D rank respectively, in which-ever order the member chooses on character creation.
Drawbacks: As clan members are over-reliant on their card techniques, they cannot use jutsu without the aid of a playing card. Additionally, they must also take Hesitant (Specialization) with no positive counterbalance, as they can only use the three specializations that are compatible with card magic.
