Kashizudoto was absolutely starving. Helping teach some academy students - especially with his eccentric way of teaching - was a LOT more exhausting than one would think. He, therefore, felt it appropriate to recuperate with some delicious ramen.

No matter how busy the store was - and it was often found bustling - there always seemed to be seat open for the next person. Maybe it was some sort of genjutsu. That's it... Ramen Jutsu!

Kashizudoto sat down and made eye contact with Ichiraku, the man behind the stand, as well as Ayame, his hardworking daughter.

"What would you like?" asked the waitress.

"Ramen," said Kashizudoto.

"Could you be a little more specific? There's salt, soy sau-"

"Pork," said the hungry genin, "But really anything will do. Just gimme RAMEN!"

"Fine, fine," said the waitress, now annoyed at the customer for his lack of good taste, "I'LL GIVE YOU RAMEN!"

While Kashizudoto waited for Ichiraku and his daughter to created, he stared at the empty seat next to him. It was more than just an empty seat; he very well knew that whoever sat there could change Kashizudoto's life forever.

He wondered if he'd meet a friend at this magical place. Perhaps a rival? A lover? Not very likely he'd find a quality relationship at a ramen place, but who could guess such things?

Kashizudoto began to groan, and Amaya's patience for such bad taste had reached its limits. She vented, "Stop groaning and learn to appreciate quality ramen!"

"Just make some ramen," said the genin, "I'm seriously really tired."

"AAAAAHHHHH!" pouted the waitress as she proceeded to try and hit Kashizudoto on the head with her pan as punishment for his bad taste; however, with his ninja reflexes, he quickly blocked the pan.

"Ya, don't try that," said Kashizudoto, "I might have poor choice, but I'm a shinobi of the leaf."

The waitress sighed as she joined Ichiraku in preparing the ramen for an obviously unprepared customer.

Ichiraku and Amaya finished making it: the deluxe pork ramen that Kashizudoto had been waiting for. It looked super appetizing; all he needed now was some company other than the waitress and the old man to make it a little less boring. He hoped someone would take a seat next to him.

Hungry… Hungry… Hunger… Which was the word he was looking- Was he looking for anything?

Torbjorn couldn’t remember. But, he could still feel. He could feel the hunger in his stomach, even if he couldn’t put a name to the sensation that was swirling around in his gut. His body was demanding some sort of sustenance. It needed to be filled, and it growled at him for denying it any food. He patted his stomach, trying to soothe it while he found something to stop the incessant growling coming from further down south, not knowing any other way to quell the anger and the ferocity that was his own body yearning for something that it deserved.

He supposed it was rather his fault more so than not that he had found himself trapped within his makeshift workshop on the outskirts of Konoha, made with the permission of the Konoha authorities. It was just a humble small shack as he always did outside any major villages or cities, not really wanting to waste his money on himself rather than on his machines, and it was no different this time as he had set it up almost outside the Konoha walls, complete with a small workshop to call his own, where he had been busy working on machine after machine after machine and trying to pay all of them the same amount of care that he did for each of them… only of course he couldn’t.

As much as he hated to admit it he was only human, just like everyone else, unfortunately, and that meant he only had two hands to work on his machines, and the occasional teeth he had aid him in his work. If he could, he would’ve mechanised more of himself, but for some reason, that thought, though introduced into his mind hundreds of times throughout his career, never seemed to completely complete itself before he was distracted by machinations of another gizmo that he could play around with.

Two short dwarf feet plopping down along the paved roads of Konoha were just a reminder of the two limbs attached to his body that were more organic than inorganic. He held both hands on his stomach, soothing the anger that it was making – such a reaction he would never fathom how to tackle, unlike the breakdowns and mishaps that were always so systematic when it came to his machines. Eventually though, he grew tired of seeking the perfect place to have his meal, and instead allowed his stomach to guide him into the closest place to… ‘eat’, as the term was called. He preferred ‘refuel’, but most people would’ve looked at him crazy.

Setting himself down on a stool in a ramen shop, he gave a wonky wave with his right hand, “Anything you recommend, lass,” before staring on the table, blueprints and equations already forming in his vision. The individual to his right, a black-haired faceless male (all humans began to look the same after you looked at the first two or three) with a particularly long ponytail being the only notable feature about him. Torbjorn would end up scratching his board, tugging on the left one as he committed this man’s face to memory and threw him into the section of his brain where all faces made no sense, contour and shape just nothing but a smooth sphere with a mop of hair.

Deluxe pork ramen, what could go wrong? It looked so... DELICIOUS. An aroma of herbs and cooked meat filled the air. This must have been why the waitress was so obsessed with the quality of ramen. Ramengineering was no joke, apparently.

Just as he picked up his chopsticks, he could hear the sound of clanking machinery and little but heavy feet stomping across the ground. He turned his head around to face someone, or something, that was 1/2 dwarf and 1/2 machine.

"What... Is this guy?" thought Kashizudoto, "Or should I say thing. He - or it - is some sort of... cyborg. I'll call him a 'he'. For now."

He was reminiscent of a dwarf, with a long beard tied up into two separate braids. But any sort of humanity ended with that. He had big red body armor and some sort of giant mechanical claw to replace his left arm. That dude looked completely off, but Kashizudoto had seen some crazier things in the ninja world.

"Anything you recommend, lass," ordered the cyborg to the waitress, who was shocked by the dwarf's appearance. How was a robot supposed to process ramen anyway?

Ichiraku and his daughter Ayame got right to work on some super deluxe salty ramen - the most expensive at the stand. Kashizudoto realized what they were doing, but he didn't really give it another thought; business is business, after all.

The cyborg looked like he was in his 50s, so Kashizudoto guessed that the dwarf was at least more skilled than himself. However, as much as he didn't want to anger the dwarf, he wasn't afraid to ask the question; Kashizudoto had always loved to learn more, even if it meant taking a risk. He supposed that a kind of spirit like that would make him a great lone wolf spy, but he always looked at himself as more of a commander-type person.

"Hey sir, would you mind me asking what happened to your left arm? Kashizudoto inquired, hoping to get to know more about this thing in front of him.

“Hey sir, would you mind me asking what happened to your left arm?”

Words? Did they… Yes, yes, now that he took the time to register them, they seemed to make sense. ‘Hey’ was often a greeting, and ‘sir’ indicated respect. Hahah! So the origin of this voice did know of his greatness, and the superiority of machines with anything related to chakra! Good, good! He shall entertain this individual’s questions! The following few words registered in his mind quickly, not taking another microsecond to put down as a question… of whether he could ask a question? ‘Would you mind me asking-’ was a rather moot statement… Torbjorn replayed that portion in his head again, just as he did just now, having heard the question and all but ignored it for a good millisecond or two before his brain began breaking it down and putting it back together.

Torbjorn, giving no outward sign of pause, looked to the person. Ah! A… lass? The ponytail was a dead giveaway! But didn’t they have males with ponytails with expression? So, a lad? The Adam’s apple surely enforced that notion. But… his face… so… indistinguishable… The contours he could see all were in the same places as the hundreds of people he had passed and scanned on his way to the shop, each strand of hair seemingly out of place by simply being in place. Eyes… why were they shiny? Were they wet? Were eyes supposed to be wet? Ah yes, of course they were! Curse him for forgetting such an insignificant detail about the folly that was organics.

“Ahah! For this is a great adventure indeed that… eh… that uh…” and the enthusiasm in his voice died there, as the quick flashes of knowledge, memory after memory of the horrific encounter that had stolen his left arm from him and replaced it with a much improved version came to himi so fast it went just as quickly, replaced instead by the usual interface he saw in his mind and in his vision, taking in everything in front of him, scanning it, and logging it in the recesses of his mind. “That uh…” he tried again, only this time he forgot even the question that had been asked, and instead focused onto the boy’s chopsticks in his hands.

“My, are those- Yes they are!” Torbjorn exclaimed, pointing at them with his organic right hand. “Those are chopsticks! Why boy, I can tell you the whole lotta’ history behind them! It… it all… began…”

The pair of sticks in the boy’s hands began to warp. They grew longer and longer, larger in diameter, until each was seven feet long and three inches wide. Tipped on one end, a blade, tipped on the other, a pommel. The remaining length broke in half, merging with the first to form a… rocket, of sorts? A missile, perhaps? To be launched? With a launching mechanism? An… an arrow! That was it! Or a crossbow bolt, perhaps! The blade began to grow, shifting into a four-pronged arrowhead, while the entire length of the curious weapon rotated to lie lengthwise on its side, the pommel growing and growing, before a tag appeared in midair labelling it as plastic, and then being replaced by a tag that said metal, before finally being replaced by a tag stating ‘rubber’. The tag flashed twice before settling and disappearing, and the length of the blade, seeming oblong due to the additions from prior, grow until it seemed circular, flat, to catch the wind more easily, and then having the tips of the circle highlighted by cyan before vanishing. A tag labelled ‘wood’ flashed on top of it, before disappearing, and the metal arrowhead sported a quick metal tag before it too vanished.

Of course, all this would occur only in this madman’s head, with passers-by viewing but the scene of a senile man pointing at the boy’s chopsticks with his right hand, mouth agape to respond. Torbjorn would be broken out of his trance when the chef slid the ramen in front of him. Ramen… it seemed… Ah! So this was a ramen stand! Perfect! Just what he needed! More fuel to keep him running throughout the night! Picking his chopsticks laid down horizontally on the ramen bowl, he began eating, all semblance of conversation now forgotten in his mind, which was again dominated by machines, blueprints, and more machines.

The cyborg slowly turned his head to Kashizudoto, who just waited patiently for what this... thing had to say. The cyborg's eyes seemed to be scanning over Kashizudoto's face, only for a second or two at most, trying to analyze his facial features. What was this nutcase doing?

He suddenly saw the cyborg's eyes light up like he'd just had a great revelation after analyzing Kashizudoto. As unsettling as it was, Kashizudoto simply waited.

Ichiraku and Ayame also patiently waited to hear the man's stories; after working there for so long, they'd heard many gruesome tales of shinobi who wandered through the lands. A lost limb was nothing new, but the cyborg and his left arm piqued their interest anyway.

"Ahah! For this is a great adventure indeed that… eh… that uh…" stuttered the senile old cyborg. Was he trying to... locate the information regarding what happened to his left arm? Was he really that machine-like?

"That uh…" the cyborg continued incoherently. His eyes drifted down towards Kashizudoto's ramen.

"Don't touch my ramen!" thought Kashizudoto.

However, the cyborg wasn't looking at the ramen. Upon closer inspection, it seemed that the robot was focusing on Kashizudoto's chopsticks.

"My, are those- Yes they are!" yelled the robot, as if chopsticks were some advanced technology rather than a common utensil.

"Oh, goodness," thought Kashizudoto, "I just met an absolute lunatic." He was right. That cyborg was definitely senile for sure. It continued staring at his chopsticks, like it was under some sort of trance.

Kashizudoto looked at his deluxe pork ramen. It was getting really cold, and his conversation with the cyborg didn't seem like it was going anywhere, so - naturally - he began to chow down after making a bow to the chef, as a sign of respect for the work put into making the food and the living organisms that lost their lives in the preparation of this meal.

However, as an intuitive person, he couldn't sit down and eat a meal without a little daydreaming. He wondered what a battle would be like between him and that cyborg. Obviously the left arm and perhaps some explosive ninja tools would be the brunt of his arsenal. As he ate the ramen, the battle ensued in his head...

They were both in the training grounds, only meters away from each other. 3...2...1. The cyborg began to extend his left pincer (the one in place of his arm) to try and grab the boy.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu," yelled Kashizudoto as he gathered chakra with the fire nature in his throat and released it in a giant flamethrower.

The pincer entered the flames and took some major first-degree burns; however, the cyborg showed no signs of pain like a normal human would if their arm was thrown into a flamethrower; however, it was shown to still have a mechanism that fulfills the role of pain, given its quick reaction time in which the cyborg quickly retracted the pincer from the flamethrower.

As soon as he had finished with his flamethrower, Kashizudoto took out his katana (which - in real life - he still hadn't bothered to purchase) and charged at the pincer, slashing it once before the cyborg quickly retracted it again. As quickly as he pulled it back, the cyborg once again made his pincer lunge at Kashizudoto.

"Fire Style: Misty Flame Dance," Kashizudoto yelled as he leaped backwards, creating a gas cloud with a particularly noxious order. When his feet touched the ground, he began collecting fire nature chakra inside for another Great Fireball Jutsu; however, he wasn't ready to do it again yet for a bit. Additionally, he was absolutely exhausted, while the cyborg was showing few signs of exhaustion. Now that he had made the gas cloud, all he needed was to wait a bit to be able to use the Great Fireball Jutsu again - with aid from the gas cloud in amplifying the burns; however, the catch was that he had to stand his ground right behind the cloud of gas in order to use it when he was ready.

The pincer went straight through the cloud of gas; however, Kashizudoto blocked its attack with a strike from his katana. For a while, he and the cyborg were clashing with their respective weapons, until Kashizudoto suddenly ducked, which not even the cyborg expected. As a result, the pincer went crashing into the ground.

"Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu," screamed Kashizudoto again as he collected the fire nature chakra in his mouth and launched a giant fireball straight for the cyborg's body. The fireball, amplified by the gas cloud, caused major 2nd-degree burns any of the areas of the pincer that it touched, causing the cyborg to quickly move its pincer out of the way as the fireball went straight through his body, causing major second-degree burns to anything unexposed and minor third-degree burns to all exposed skin, although - being a cyborg - it didn't really have much exposed skin, except on his right arm which was entirely exposed.

Kashizudoto had defeated the cyborg, but, alas, it was only a daydream. He finished his deluxe pork ramen, and, because of his daydreaming, his interest in the cyborg came back.

"So can I at least know your name?" inquired Kashizudoto to the cyborg.

Food! Fuel! Ah! Finally! The ramen that went flowing down his throat filled his belly, quieting the silent growls that had been reverberating throughout his entire being, something he knew was absent with machines, instead replaced by the constant, rhythmic and ever-present hum of machinery greedily taking in any chakra source he fed it with. The taste of the ramen, while likely exquisite, was entirely lost on the man, whose mind was so focused on the beauty of his machines that they had all but relinquished any notion of humanity, including the sense of taste that one normally associated with delicacies found in isolated parts of Konohagakure.

It was likely insulting to the chef and the waitress, who had so enthusiastically served him his food and taken his vague order, that he would gulp down their meal without even performing the slurping that was traditional and respectful of customers when eating ramen, especially when eating it in front of a chef. Torbjorn, while having come from a different time, had also been taught in this custom, although he simply failed to exhibit the much needed sign of hats off to the chef due to the vast number of telltale plans floating around within the genius of a mind he kept hidden within his cranium.

The ramen broth swirled within the bowl, and in his mind, he pictured the swirling broth, evidenced by the swirling ramen, as a gear. Three more gears appeared around the first in an equilateral triangle, each half the size of the original and spinning anticlockwise to the clockwise motion of the original. The image then flipped to its side, and then duplicated five times, before a cylindrical pole appeared, sliding between the six groups of four gears each, each rotating at their own pace in their own direction, in the form of an axle. Left, right, in, out, the gears spun and the pole drilled, moving with no particular intention, with the entire orientation of the seven parts being nothing more than the avid imagination of the man as he stared curiously into the bowl of half-finished ramen.

His chopsticks seemed to break into two, forming four bars that were of equal length before they all rotated counter-clockwise by a quarter of a circle, before they all stuck together to form four bars vertically-aligned, as if the symbol of batteries. They bleeped once, twice, thrice, and then a fourth time before they sizzled out, leaving only four rectangles that outlined the four bars. The gears and the axle flashed back into life, and the bars miniaturised, before moving to the top right portion of his vision, while the gears spun translucently in front of his broth. They turned this way and that, standing upright and then falling flat on their side before standing back right up and falling back right onto their side, as if it were a toy that were playing around in Torbjorn’s mind,

It was as he were eating that the curious boy spoke again. “So can I at least know your name?” he asked.

“My… name?” he wondered. “My name… name… Name…? ...Oh! My name!” Torbjorn then exclaimed. He turned to look at the boy, staring him in the face intensely for the first second, before he patted his belly and rumbled in laughter. “That’s right! A name! I forgot to give her a name!”

His laughter died down, before a look of fear dawned upon his face. “I forgot to give her a name! I forgot to give her a name!” he began speaking to himself in a panic. This was a desecration upon machines! This was a sin! It was unforgivable! Throwing several ryo on the couner, more than enough to make his payment, Torbjorn leapt off of his chair and raced off back to his workshop, having realised that he had forgotten to give a name to the machine he’d been working on; by the gods she would be utterly demented at him for having forgotten something so significant! Why, a name was practically the reason he’d brought her to life!

No, no! He would return and give her the name, damnit, with all thoughts of the boy now nothing more than a far-off memory.

Kashizudoto stared intently at the cyborg, waiting for his response. He wondered if this cyborg had a remotely human name - or whether it was something like R3C5. The cyborg paused for a moment, like it was processing some data, trying to find its name among the numerous files. It turned to look at Kashizudoto, staring intently - and creepily - for about a second. He was really hoping the cyborg wouldn't go off-topic again, but, alas, it wasn't that simple.

"That’s right! A name!" exclaimed the cyborg while patting his belly, which made it seem like he wouldn't veer off-topic again, "I forgot to give her a name!" Wait, what? Her???

"I forgot to give her a name!" screamed the cyborg as excitement turned into desperation and guilt, "I forgot to give her a name!" He threw several ryo on the table (at least he had some decency) and then proceeded to leap off the chair and dart down the road. What an utter oddball that cyborg was...

Kashizudoto stared at his empty bowl for a few seconds, processing what had just happened. So... the cyborg wanted to name something... Maybe he made a new machine and wanted to name it. Perhaps that was the case. He threw some ryo on the table and gave a tip to Ayame before heading off himself. He wondered whether he would again cross paths with this half-machine, half-human himself some day.
