Mari’s parents were both proud members of the Masayoshi clan, both held strong beliefs of justice and maintaining a balance between good and evil in the shinobi world. As well as diligently recording the world around them and the history that occurred in their lives. The Masayoshi values were also passed down to their one and only daughter, Mari. They both originally were traveling historians per the usual job of their clan, but decided to settle down in the land of Wind in the Village Hidden in the Sands when Mari was born.

Mari’s childhood was easy and carefree, nothing tragic and relatively boring. She grew up with both her doting parents with a happy life. Her parents however always reminded her of the duty of the Masayoshi clan, to record the history of the shinobi world. Even both the wrongdoings and the virtuous acts and then be active in maintaining this balance of good and evil, of black and of white. Through Sunagakure branch of the Masayoshi private archives, Mari came to know tales of legendary Kages, the Great Shinobi Wars, terrifying genjutsus and supernatural chakra beasts.  She grew to especially admire the ways the honorable samurai and the sword, inspiring her to specialize in Bukijutsu. Mari’s dream however, was to one day travel to the Land of Waves and wield a legendary blade, becoming one of the seven ninja swordsman of the Mist.

Though in her early childhood, her parents stayed with her. Then they both left to resume their jobs as traveling historians of the Masayoshi clan shortly after Mari entered the ninja academy of Sunagakure. Since those early academy days, they have not returned to Kaze no Kuni since. From that day on, Mari became the only Masayoshi that lived In Sunagakure. Though every now and then a traveling member of her clan would come and stay with her. Mari never blamed her parents for leaving, for she knew it was the clan’s duty to traverse the shinobi world. She also was well aware that their second objective was to track down the genjutsu user that had killed their clan leader thirty years ago.

When Mari graduated the ninja academy and became a genin, her parents were still away. Though every few weeks she would get letters from them and copies of their journals they sent to be archived. She of course could never really write back since it was near impossible to know where her parents would be when. Now the girl simply keeps on with her life, living diligently as a ninja of Sunakagure and training to be a master of bukijutsu.

As a Genin Mari had taken time to train, taking a few missions here and there to improve herself to become a better shinobi and Swordsman.

The chunin exams came to Kaminari no Kuni, though Mari, being as forgetful as she always has, had forgotten to sign up. The girl decided to travel to Kumogakure no Sato for the heck of it anyway as so many shinobi from all over the world had went for the event, showcasing the aspiring Genin of hidden villages across the Shinobi world. Mari herself simply went to enjoy some of the events, the vacation spot of Mt. Ikkyu. There Mari met several shinobi from across the nations and made many friends amoung them.  Meetings with such strangers soon encouraged the girl to working even Harding to achieve her dream of becoming a master swordsman, no longer simply a personal dream but one that could be realized.

She returned to Suna swiftly afterwards, doing a few missions and training. Then she was promoted to the rank of Chuunin

With Mari's promotion came even more work and dedication. As well with her return to Suna meant all the work regarding archiving the Masayoshi Clan archives was piled up and nead overwhelming for her time spent in Kumo. The girl would soon be put back to such work as well as keeping up with her duties of being a shinobi.

Not log after her return, the girl would work on repainting the Clan symbol on the gate in front of her house. It was then she would be visited by a familiar face....
