1 Supply Run [Mission/Private/No-Kill] Sun Jul 26, 2015 7:56 am
Manami
D-rank
Manami hummed as she spanned the gap between two buildings, easily able to make the jump across the small space. Her boots clacked softly as she ran across the rooftops of Konoha. She was up nice and early for her first mission she had undertaken in a while. Nothing wild or crazy, a simple delivery mission really. All she had to do was deliver some supplies from the Administration building to the army camp on the western side of Konoha. It wasn't very far at all, and Manami was confident that she could complete the task without any kind of trouble whatsoever. After all, she had been a genin for a reasonable amount of time already. What was another D-ranked mission to her?
The air was already warm, and it whipped the girl's bright hair around her face gently. Manami brushed the warrant strands out of her eyes and made her final jump, landing carefully just in front of her pick-up site. Nobody paid her any attention – far too used to shinobi running around the village all day. Manami walked into the building and greeted the mission givers. She was quickly directed to where she should pick up her supplies. Hm, I wonder how much I’m going to have to carry? Manami’s jaw unhinged a little when she saw exactly how much it was.
Maybe they had made a mistake? How could a genin her size possibly carry all of that and not cause a complete catastrophe in the interim? There were three crates, all of a reasonable size. She would have been more than happy to carry them one at a time, but a note at the top of them stopped her.
To be delivered as promptly as possible. Fragile contents within.
Manami groaned and set to work trying to think of how she was going to mange the logistics of this. The army camp really wasn't too far from her current location at all, but the mission needed her to deliver everything at once and in as short a space of time as possible. She knew she wasn't strong enough to carry all three crates in her arms at once, but maybe if she spread the weight out a bit...
She gave a satisfied huff once she'd gotten her rig together. One crate was attached to her back but means of belt straps. Sure, the Chuunin who had lent her their belt had been a little bit uncomfortable at the thought but it had worked out in the end. The other two were balanced carefully in between her arms. She could only barely see over the top of them, but her arms weren't straining too much, and that was what counted.
Her journey began but took a turn for the worst rather quickly. A merchant cart hurtled down the village streets and Manami (due to being so short) didn't see the thing coming. Before she knew it she was being pushed out of the way of the runaway cart. The boxes almost toppled, but Manami made a desperate grab for them and they managed to stay precariously balanced in her arms. She let out a sigh of relief and continued onward. Many civilians were bumped into and Manami lost track of how many times she had said sorry by the time she had finally reached the army camp itself.
"I made it!"
A few of the cadets were quick to take the crates from her and they patted her on the back for a job well done, muttering things like 'can't believe she carried that' or 'pretty strong for such a small one'. Manami disregarded their words and muttered a quick 'Arigato' before leaving. She never did find out what the 'fragile contents' were, but right then she didn't care to know. All she knew was that (a) she was really out of shape, and (b) she was never doing a supply run again. Plus, she still had to return those two nice Chuunin's belts.
