Finally got here, I was told I need to go in here to get some of it, but I really wish this thing was not so heavy. He sat down as the backpack with the pickaxe was really heavy. He was not that strong as his blonde hair was blown by the wind as he sat just outside of the mine looking at the entrance. He had just been set free recently and after spending some time with his new friend Ame-chan, he was in a really good mood. However he wanted to impress her as he had grown just a bit attached to her as they spent some time together. He needed to complete several tasks before meeting with the man who will help guide him into the future.

He sat down and looked around before going to hide out by some nearby trees, he was not going to go inside yet as he dug a small hole and then put the bag inside it burying it, then he laid back and took a nap with his arms spread out wide and his legs also spread as if to be a snow angel without snow. He was tired and needed to take a nap hidden behind the trees that were there to protect him. Though some animals occasionally ran passed him.

The small boy was still sleeping peacefully as the journey left him really tired, he could sleep for days but the cold or the weather would wake him eventually. As he lay there the wind whistling softly in his ears as his hair is blown against his face. His clothes rising and dropping as the wind flows, the leaves having a slight coal like colour from some of the dust coming from the mines themselves. Not the best place for a child, girl, shinobi or anyone with half a mind to want a long life. However it was the perfect place to find some metal for the things which he needed in order to once again live his shinobi life.

He heard a noise as he began to yawn and stretch as he sat up rubbing his eyes a little bit. He thought to himself it was about time to get going as he began to slowly dig out his little bag with the pickaxe in it. He lifted it with both hands and shook it a bit to get the dirt to fall off before putting it on his back. This bag is so heavy is what he was thinking, but he had not time for that as he snuck out of the trees and looked around before standing at the entrance, now ready to begin his journey into the unknown mine for the unknown metal that will one day become his future weapons.

He took a slight breathe before covering his face in a cloth as he charged into the unknown of the mines. It was dark as he struggled to find his footing, however a few torches were lit so it was not pure darkness. He did not have any talents really since being in the hospital, from being known as a prodigy and one of the best in the academy, he was now nothing more than a has been prodigy who now had to train from the ground up to regain his prowess and become a genius of hard work and no longer a prodigy of pure talent. However he was never a true prodigy as they said back when he first became a genin. He had mastered all the basics, he was the fastest and strongest and was ahead in everything. However he had no kekkei genkai to speak of, or overwhelming genjutsu or even any special techniques to speak of. He was what you would call just an average prodigy, however he was never a prodigy as we said, he was a genius of hard work and this will always be the truth to him.

He finally stopped as he noticed some glowing fine crystals, how deep had he gone as he looked back. He had only gotten about twenty meters from the entrance. He sighed as he realised how slow he was and how badly he would need to retrain his legs again.

He heard a noise as he looked back towards the depths of the mines and before him was a small little rat that was about the size of a small dog. He was staring at it when he realised something as it jumped at him, he managed to hit it with his backpack as he turned to run, but the rat got back up and being a smart rat cut off his escape as it now stood by the entrance. With no exit and the strange sound of scurrying little feet behind him, he was in trouble. He searched his backpack and took out his only weapons three shuriken, a kunai and he then put on his forehead protector around his neck. He charged in and the battle would now begin.

A small boy versus a large rat, who will win

~words = 713 + 141 = 854~

The battle began as the rat gave out a strange screeching roar as it jumped at him. He swung his kunai as the rat clashed with its teeth before spinning with a tail whip as its sharp tail pierced one inch into the small boy's ear. Followed by the rat landing, before the boy could kick the rat it jumped while his stance was still wide open as he had been some what parried by the tooth attack as the rat bit his neck. The bite was not lethal as the headband protected him from a fatal bit as he stabbed his kunai in the rat who shrugged it off and jumped back as the small boy fell back. He could feel the ground shaking as he was looking at the rat whose eyes were now glowing with deep malice.

~Words = 854 + 141 = 995~

The boy had to fight back, he could not allow the rat to have its way with him as he felt a sense of evil that he knew nothing about. He dashed towards the rat who managed to take him by surprise as he headbutt the little boy sending him flying back several meters as he heard a light squeak. As he got up to move he felt weighted down as small rats began to swarm him biting him all over his body as he cried out before forcing himself up as he spun round and round as some of the rats flew through the air as he was bleeding nearly everywhere, but it was fortunately light bleeding as the main rat screeched once again as they all began swarming towards the lone boy once again who began to spin and kick.

A few rats jump at him hitting his chest, his ribs, his sides, his knees and even getting a few nips at his arms as the large rat went closer and closer preparing to finish off its prey. he thought to himself as his life would begin to flash before his eyes....

He began having flashes and moments of his life pass him by, the day he was taken in by the monks. His family who all played with him and looked up to him when he entered the academy. He was praised by his family all the time and now he was going to be killed by a bunch of dirty rats. Tears began to flow from his eyes as he opened them wider then they had been before as he now maintained his full focus as he glared at the rat who was going to take his life. He decided he would not let himself get taken down so easily as he shouted as loud as he could before jumping with a few of the rats attached to him as he grabbed the torch and the rats began to run away as he hit the wall face first.

His face was bleeding as he turned the main rat had no fear, he swung the torch as the rat dodged jumping over him before delivering several tail whips to the back of his head and neck as he fell forward. The rat then jumped off the wall of the mine shaft and did a massively powerful tackle into the child's back as he fell forward he spun around with his right arm swinging as the rat bit his elbow he managed to lodge his kunai deep into the rat's leg before the rat let go as the boy fell missing a back kick as the rat had predicted it. However his foot grazed the rat's nose as the rat sneezed and hit its head into the dirt. The damage was not major, but a blow to the noise was painful and annoying to say the least. How would their fated battle end, who was going to win, the ruler of Rats or the small boy from the orphanage.

He was struggling when at that very moment he felt a sharp pain in his leg as the rat had bitten his right knee. He kicked hard against the face of the rat who refused to let go, he kicked and kicked as hard as he could while the rat bit and bit as hard as a rat should. The battle had been intense and it was not over as the rat began to block his kicks with tail whips cutting into the bottom of the boy's little foot as the shoe had long been torn to shreds. He kept kicking as the blood of his foot entered the eyes of the stubborn rat who refused to stop biting the small boy's knee which was intensely painful as the boy cried out.

"Aaaaaaahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as it echoed through the mines as simple fight continued. How was this going to end?

Barely clinging to life there was a noise as the rat ran away. He looked up and all he could see was a rough hairy hand before losing consciousness. When he opened his eyes again he was in the hospital as he wondered what happened. He kept looking around noticing he had a large bandage over his knee and two nurses busy healing his body as he just looked at them faintly. He did not want to give up his own private mission to find the metal for his weapons, the one metal to forge the weapons he would need to take part in the exams.

He did not want it to end as he began to think back at how the day had passed. He prepared his gear, got dressed and ready to go. He got there and fell asleep then the next thing was that he woke up. He had to dig up his bag which he buried which sort of began to seem stupid as he thought about it more deeply. The nurses were concentrating while the wounds were light they were harmful in their sheer number. He really could not believe how he could let a giant rat beat him, he decided that he would work hard and challenge that rat again. He had to overcome his weakness and become a boy strong enough to be worthy of the title of genin. While not the best thing in the world there was a big difference between being a soldier who could only fight and being a shinobi who could do whatever was needed of them.

It was in this way he would change his resolve and one day face the monster again
