He had been called in to the Iwa administration office today for an important job. It was unusual for him to be briefed by the higher ups in the village, they must believe that he was able to take on more responsibility. Fukai walked down the corridor of the large central building. A-3.. That was his destination. Once he arrived at the door with the right address, he opened it and stepped inside. There was a long desk with three people sitting behind it. A middle aged man that Fukai recognised as one of the mission admins sat on the left, and two older women sat in the middle and on the right. They seemed to be annoyed that he had not knocked before entering and was standing at the back of the room without showing the appropriate cadence required in formal meetings. To be truthful, Fukai just didn't understand many of these formal meetings. As his mother had died when he was young and he had no other close family around him, no one had taught him the formal ways of these things. Come forward, young man said the lady in the middle. Fukai walked forward to the center of the room and after about three seconds of silence, he realised that they were expecting something. Oh- uhh.. I'm Fukai and I am here to accept my mission the young man managed to stutter out. The man on the left, accepted this effort and decided to move the meeting forward. Today you have been assigned the task of settling a property line dispute between the Uchaka and Rudaku families. The woman in the middle, who seemed to be the alpha in this group, took over the conversation. This is an important mission, Fukai. These families have long roots into Iwakagure and we cannot afford to have them resenting the village or each other. They will be angry and they may not accept your authority. We have given you this mission due to your excellent performance and handling of the merchants in the bazaar the other night. After that, the conversation went over the little details of the case. Fukai went and grabbed the blueprints from the trio and headed for the door. Before he reached it, he turned and did a little bow and left. The male admin scratched his head. Oh dear.
Fukai walked down the street. He was thinking about how he should approach this problem. These issues were delicate and should be handled with diplomatic finesse. This was something that Fukai didn't have. He was pondering and wandering. He turned down an alleyway. He should get there with another half an hours walk or so. Suddenly, a buy jumped from the roof of the building above him. Fukai, who was deep in thought, was taken by surprise. The boy landed beside the man and tried to swipe at the blueprints in Fukai's hands. The purple eyed man quickly reacted and jumped backwards, hugging the papers to his chest. Gimme those papers, if you know what's good for you. The boy yelled at him. He was wearing a handkerchief around his face, but other than that he was entirely exposed. Fukai's brain worked quickly to make sense of the situation. The boy wanted the blue prints. This means he must know what they have in them. He must have something to lose and not want Fukai to complete his mission. It was probably a member of one of the two feuding families. Was the boy put up to this? Either way, It didn't change much.
Walk away kid Fukai called. I will be delivering these blueprints to your family and settling this matter in the name of the Tsuchikage. Give them to me! the kid yelled and lunged at the papers once more. Fukai quicky stepped to the side and then behind him, kicking his ankle out from underneath the boy. The small assailant stumbled and fell, crashing into the bins that lined the alleyway. Fukai continued on his way, stepping up the pace. There is a chance that if the family who this kid belonged to was desperate enough, they may be sending someone with more strength to stop Fukai. The genin sighed. This was starting to become too complicated for comfort.
Fukai arrived at the street between the two families without incident. The Uchaka family was on the left and the Rudaku was on the right of the street. Fukai took a last look over the blueprints and outlined his plan once more in his mind. He set his sight on the Uchaka house, walking to the door and knocking. A young woman answered the door. The genin introduced himself and asked for the leader of the family. The young woman called inside and the elder that was her father took her place. I represent the village of Iwa and I have come to sort out the issue with the border. The man in front of Fukai was about to start his aggressive whinge about the issue. Fukai straightened his posture, adding another inch to his height, and continues talking in and authoritative cadence. You will be out here in five minutes and we will go over the blueprints. With that, the young man walked away from the door and headed over to the Rudaka house. The older male he had spoken to was still trying to deliver a speech that was sure to have been heard too many times by all involved. With situations like this, a firm hand is necessary.
At the Rudaka house, the deal was the same. This issue had clearly been drawn out into some sort of long winded feud due to the stubborn natures of the heads of the families. Behind the Rudaka elder, Fukai spotted a boy that closely resembled the one that attacked him. He leered at the genin with a sour look. So as he had suspected, the masked assailant had been a member of one of the families. But was he put up to it? The answer would tell him how far they would go. Fukai decided not to mention his attacker to the head. Whatever reason there was for it, he couldn't let it affect the verdict of this dispute. The young man firmly laid down his orders to the Rudaka elder and left with him. He walked out to the middle of the street and met the Uchaka head. Now what I have here is the orders of the Tsuchikage. This issue had gone on long enough. The two men started bickering. Enough! They were both the leaders of their respective families and used to getting their own way. Fukai opened the blueprints and went through the contents with the two men. Then the three walked around the two properties, outlining the areas designated to each. Strangely enough, the two families both lived comfortably inside the borders that they were allocated. After a few hours were dragged out dealing with the issue, it was finally done. Neither party was completely happy with the verdict but they had settled down enough so that they wouldn't cause any trouble with this any more. It's amasing how people can make an issue out of nothing. They were probably just using this dispute as an outlet for all of the tensions between them. Well, that's it. Fukai walked back to the admin building in the middle of the village.
