Balto
D-rank
Each step that Balto took echoed throughout the labyrinth. The cobblestone maze seemed to not only be chakra reinforced but not be sound proof as well. Some people might come up with the bright idea of using echolocation to use the bouncing sounds that they make to get themselves out of the maze. It was a rather brilliant idea accept for the fact that the young Uchiha treasure hunter believed that to be too easy of a solution out of the labyrinth. Why would the proctor of the chuunin exams make it so easy? Except if it was a coy. Balto suspected that it wouldn’t be too hard to manipulate the sound waves that bounce off the labyrinth’s walls to throw off a student’s ears and purposely screw with where they should be going.
Letting out a sigh, Balto shook his head. Why did he get himself mixed up in this Chuunin exams business? He had thought that he put behind all thoughts of being a shinobi behind him to focus on finding the ancient relic that held him captive by a simple tattoo; The Stone of Leona. But then he reminded himself that some informants would only do business with more well known treasure hunters and not little kids. So Botan gave him the idea of participating in this year’s chuunin exams, in order to boost up his reputation and make a name for himself. Should he do a good enough job in these exams, then the people watching him would know that he is quite the skilled treasure hunter and thus give him some respect.
It was a lot of work but hell he was up for anything that would give him the edge in this competition for finding the Stone of Leona. So here he was in some part of a labyrinth where he was told by the proctors of the exam that he would need to find his way towards the middle of maze to complete the first part of the exam. Great. This was just fantastic. If he could, Balto would curse loudly to get out some of his frustration. He hated being lost without anywhere to go. This wasn’t the first time he was lost in unfamiliar territory; however this is the first time he was lost in a territory that was purposely trying to confuse him. Cursing right now would bring out something to possible attack him while he was trying to navigate through the maze. The only source of light he was getting was from the tiny fire that was in his right hand. Thankfully it was also keeping him warm as well. His weapons clinked to his sides with each step that he took. In case he was ambushed, he doubted that he would be able to fight well in a head to head fight. However he knew that if he used the darkness then maybe he might have a shot. Then again he would also be vulnerable without any source of light….
