SEARCHING THROUGH THE CLOUDS

With all the pressure being put on Kenji to complete high profile missions, he was also now being expected to help usher in and mold new talent. He couldn't blame Kumogakure for wanting more ninja like himself. The Sannin knew where to start, it was the training grounds. Areas like the battle and high battle plateau and other areas commonly used for training and spars. This was where Kenji would begin his search for his pupil. Not often did shinobi get to select their own student, but with Kenji's status and insistance, he was allowed to personally pick the star Genin. Below the surface, Kenji actually looked forward to the campaign. It was a change of pace from the every day duties of being an elite ninja, and being relied on to bring in big bucks and recognition for the Village Hidden in the Clouds.

The search got off to a slow start, days had elapsed and he had yet to find the shinobi he was looking for. Where was this dazzling specimen of pure destruction and savvy? The former spy had witnessed many fine shinobi. They had displayed speed, strength, chakra prowess, and intelligence. But they all lacked something that couldn't be gauged. Will. He was looking for someone who could defy odds. Someone, when they were at a disadvantage in just about every category, they still found a way to triumph. Most importantly, when facing hardships, they were able to use that stumble as fuel to strengthen them. It was a certain look that accompanied the shinobi he was looking for, a certain walk, a certain aura. Kenji's keen senses were tuned to pick it out of a crowd, and his senses hadn't peaked yet.

Now day five of his search. He arrived at the Cloud Training Grounds. It was an open facility supervised by Chuunin. At CTG, the shinobi had to sign in, and then they would enter a supervised spar. The cool thing about CTG was, that records were kept and from that standings were compiled. Not as many people used this facility because of them fearing that a loss of theirs would be visible to everyone, so they preferred unofficial spars. For this reason, Kenji had avoided CTG, but he was now here to scout out some of Kumo's finest. Kenji walked over to the manager who had access to all the records. The manager resided indoors, adjacent to the sparring grounds in a small building. The Sannin requested that he see the standings and who was set to fight next.

Wow, was the expression that was on Kenji's face. An impressive record of 185 wins and only 8 losses. She might be the one he was looking for. He then looked further down on the paper to see who her opponent was...
