Tomoya Katō
D-rank
The arena was quiet as the morning started to settle in, as two ninjas walked through the main entrance, both wearing the basic uniform for the Suna ninja; the olive body armour over a black pair of leggings and basic shirt. The taller, and clearly older one, was wearing a white turban underneath his Hitai-ate of pure white silk, whereas the younger one wore his headband around his neck with a pair of strangely futuristic looking goggles on his forehead, pulling back his navy hair. They continued walking into the arena, although there was nobody there, this battle would be as important as any that could need to take place here. It wasn't about honour, nor about proving themselves, it was about making the chunin stronger. The chunin smiled at his trainer, his augmented hand flexing slightly, trying to get the blood flowing.
"So, you understand what you've asked of me, Tomoya-kun?" Tomoya nodded. Of course he knew what he wanted from this. He was strong as any when it came to taijutsu, especially with his athletic frame, and he was good at Ninjutsu, but he just wasn't good enough. Whilst he could easily defeat anyone of his level in close combat, what would happen if he had to go up against someone stronger than him? He wasn't stupid and knew that if he risked getting into close combat against someone better than him, he was pretty much screwed. Diversions could only do so much. As such, he had come to get help from his old sensei; Shujin Jukuren-sensei.
Shujin was a young man, maybe in his late twenties or early thirties, with a rather handsome face. He was as toned as Tomoya, if not more so, and seemed to have the same navy hair, a tuft of which was sticking out through the turban. If anyone looked at him, you could be forgiven for thinking that this was just out of carelessness, but this was actually the way he liked to look, and surprisingly enough, a lot of girls liked it. The most pronounced feature on his face was, clearly, the massive long burn mark scar from a battle against a Konoha ANBU that wanted information from Sunagakure. Shujin had killed him, but hadn't managed to leave without a mark to remember the fight by. Still, he never complained about it, as he was a ninja and everyone knew that ninjas were able to put up with whatever they had to
"Alright then. Tomoya, you need a challenge to make you push through and learn how to control your chakra enough to learn how to use stronger techniques. With most of my pupils I'd have them find out what their chakra style is, but we already know about yours. You're wind and fire, something that seems to go with your family. So, let's start with whatever you're able to do already. You already passed the chunin exam, let's see if you've gotten rusty in the last six months... hit me with your best shot."
