Clan History: The Heiko are a group of priests and priestesses scattered throughout the world. They are a branch of the early Shinto religion and therefore believe that spirits are present everywhere and must be preserved in order to keep the world’s state of balance. However, rather than focusing on the spirits of nature, they make an emphasis on the spirits that greatly influence human emotions. By acting as the hosts of these spirits, they believe that they maintain the peace and act as conduits between one world and the other.
The organization has existed since the 4th Great Shinobi War, when the faction split from the Shinto organization and began taking its own course. Now a shrine or temple exists devoted to this new form of the religion, with priestesses, priests and monks actively protecting what they call “Sacred Sites” where the spirit world comes closest to that of the humans. Upon joining this organization, the members are “reborn,” since they become fused with two spirits for the rest of their lifetime. For this reason, members change their first name and rid themselves of their last name.
Kekkei Genkai Description: Tamashii no Heiko, or “Balance of the Soul,” is a rather unique ability attributed to the members of the religious organization known as Heiko. When they enter the shrine and endure their assigned length of training, they are granted the choice to be linked to two spirits of their choosing, according to the type of path that he or she chooses to take. Once they decide, the aspiring members must enter the realm of the spirits in soul alone and find the beings that they seek out. Once they do this, their initiation is over and the spirit is considered theirs.
The spirits themselves are around 12 ft tall, but are able to manipulate their forms in order to appear in the shape of a colored orb with the spirit’s face on it. However, they can disappear from plain sight and enter the person’s body at will. They do not have their own chakra and must instead feed on that of their human companions. Jutsu may be performed with use of the spirit, though these are limited and based around the attributes that the spirit gives the user. These jutsu stem from the specializations of the priest or priestess. The spirits themselves do not possess specializations of any kind and are more of a force that helps empower the user overall rather than beings that fights alongside their human companions. The spirits do not take damage, though techniques stemming from them can be stopped or intercepted. If their user dies, they immediately return to the realm of spirits.
Each being brings its “host” a special ability, depending on the nature of the spirit. Said nature must be mentioned in the “Clan” section of a character application. The abilities that these spirits bring are versatile and allow for the creation of many unique techniques that are tied to the user’s specializations. Only one of the abilities can be active at a time. Believing strongly in a need for balance, the Heiko take a virtue and a sin on as their companions:
Sins
Ignorance: A priest or priestess linked to this spirit exudes an aura that lowers the psychological defenses of people that come within its range. The range is a constant 20m radius. This malevolent aura greatly amplifies a sense of cluelessness and doubt within people that are within it, making them disoriented and confused. As this happens, their reaction timing is also reduced by one rank.
Wrathfulness: The people linked to the spirit of wrath gain a special ability that can target three people at a time. Once someone is targeted, the spirit will produce a smaller version of itself that latches onto the target and bites him or her. After doing so, the tiny spirit disappears, seeping into the wound. The result of this is a blinding anger that makes the victim reckless. It increases their physical strength by one rank for five posts, but at the same time, makes them more vulnerable to any kind of jutsu. Thus, jutsu that come into contact with them do one more rank of damage. This ability has a cooldown of six posts.
Desire: The priests or priestesses that take on the spirit of desire gain a very peculiar ability. Due to its nature, the spirit emits a haze that will absorb the power of a jutsu coming towards its human companion and decrease its power by one rank. This happens automatically every three posts.
Virtues
Wisdom: The spirit grants its human companion a sense of greater enlightenment that makes it so that he or she is capable of sensing malicious intent (people who wish to attack the priest or priestess) within others from a 20m radius. The human using this ability becomes hyper-aware of the people with this malicious intent once they enter their range. This awareness grants him or her a one rank bonus in reaction timing along with the ability to know where the target is, as long at they are in the ability's range.
Mercy: This spirit is one that cleanses the effects of another person's jutsu from his or her body. If a jutsu makes the "host" paralyzed, stunned or under other miscellaneous effects from a foreign technique, the spirit instantly emits a pulse that negates this effect. This can only extend to jutsu one rank above that of the user. This has a cooldown of two posts and does not extend to physical injuries or genjutsu. There is a two post cooldown in between uses of this ability.
Charity: This spirit grants its power to its companion almost completely, but is very particular in how it does so. It allows the user to transfer up to two statistic points to an ally. This can only be done to one person at a time. However this causes the user to lose the statistic points that he or she is giving out. This means that if the user transfers +1 speed to an ally, he or she consequently becomes one rank slower. To activate this ability, the user's spirit must touch the person who will receive the transferred statistics.
Additionally, both spirits are connected to the world of the dead. Priests and priestesses often use this connection to speak to spirits of the dead outside of combat. However, in order to do so, they must possess an item that the deceased person often used while he or she was alive. The abilities that the spirits bring are passive. However, only one ability can be active at a time. The user freely chooses which one. If he or she so desires, neither can be active.
Drawbacks: The shinobi of this clan dedicate most of their time to perfecting their mental prowess rather than their physical strength. Those who follow the Heiko doctrine as priests or priestesses thus receive a -2 to physical strength. Additionally, they are focused purely on the spirits belonging to human attributes. Therefore, despite the fact that they are able to learn four elemental specialties, they do not possess any of them initially. All elements require training as if they were the user's third element. Members can train their first element at Genin, second at Chuunin and so on.

Name: Nature of the Spirit: Desire's Will
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: C-SS
Type: Supplementary
Element: -
Range: 30 meters.
Specialty: -
Duration: One post
Cooldown: Three posts.
Description: The spirit momentarily expand every three posts and envelop an item or tangible jutsu. When it does so, it compresses the item to the point where it could fit in the palm of the user's hand. The spirit can only shrink inanimate objects and with its own limits and cost. It can shrink jutsu and items only one rank above that of its "host" and must take chakra from him or her equivalent to that of the rank of the item or jutsu. For instance, shrinking a C rank item takes the chakra of a C rank jutsu. Lastly, while jutsu are permanently reduced in terms of size, they keep their initial power but become much easier to dodge. Items, on the other hand, return to their original size after three posts.
