Kenji had earned the moniker “Monster Slayer” due to his beast hunting campaigns. The cunning shinobi was no stranger to hunting down monsters, trolls, and other beastly creatures. However, despite his great experience in the area of handling monstrous beings, this mission was panning out to be a dangerous quest even for him. In his past clashes with monsters, the beasts always displayed incredible strength, capable of flinging Kenji around like a toy. They were also very resilient, but the one thing that led them to their defeat was their lack of wit. Kenji boasted impressive strategic capability, but on top of that he was a Genjutsu user that automatically put the mindless drones at a fatal disadvantage. This leads to the unnerving portion of Kenji’s dossier. This particular monster was not only stronger, bigger, and faster, but the beast showed a sign of intelligence as it was able to kill several shinobi that crossed its path.

Another monster has been attacking travelers outside of the village, this one seemingly more powerful and ferocious then before. Having dealt with the first one, we find you have the most experience and are therefore the most qualified to stop one of these… creatures… once again. It needs to die, no exceptions. All we request is a sample for testing here within the village, any sample will do.

Kenji read it over once more, “My last few encounters with similar creatures have posed a great threat, now, not only do I have to defeat a beast with glaringly superior strength and size, the monster is also capable of strategy.” The thing most eerie about this line of thought was that if the beast was intelligent, that opened up so many other abilities that the beast could have in its arsenal. An intelligent being is capable of deception and planning, and it was clear Kenji was going to be in for a tough fight. The moon was out in the night sky signaling to the shinobi that it was time to rest for his mission tomorrow.

Cleaning his katana, Kenji was focused like never before. He immediately went to preparations once he woke up. The blue haired shinobi was opting not to bring his prestigious Hane; the Hane was and is a traditional weapon passed down to all Chikara. Kenji, however made modifications to the weapon, and his is known as the Supa Hane. His special Hane was infused with fuuton and as a result disturbs the air around the blade as a constant stream of fuuton chakra flows through the blade. The original Hane was intended to do superficial damage, but the Supa Hane, mostly due to its fuuton alignment is capable of cutting through bone; needless to say it is an incredibly dangerous weapon. Kenji has had so little time to train his Kenjutsu that he decided not to use a weapon, no matter how more effective, that he had little practice with. So he sharpened his old rusty katana and got it ready for yet another meal.

Fully equipped, Kenji swiftly arrived to the village gates. The attacks took place quite close to the village, and many travelers were harmed and killed, and shinobi as well. Kenji was determined to stop this monster from capturing anymore victims.

Kenji trudged through prickly vines that seemed to crawl up his leg and grab a hold of him. His black pants near the bottom had many rips and a drizzle of blood was falling to his ankles. The damp area reeked of mold. Kenji was now approaching a cliff; the perch was guaranteed to give him a wider scope of the area. The monster was intelligent, so Kenji knew traditional tracking methods weren’t going to work. There had yet to be any foot prints, droppings, or meals; Kenji was growing tired and looked from his perch to see if anything peculiar stood out. Kenji was now at the edge and he saw that it wasn’t exactly a cliff; as the trail downwards wasn’t exactly vertical or deadly steep. The slope was quite gradual, except for the first 5 meters that was disconnected from the rest, but from that point for the rest of the approximate 50 meters was a welcoming trek. Kenji could see a cave down at the base of the slope; he could just make out carvings inside. “That’s what I’ve been looking for.”

Kenji scouted on, waiting to see if the monster would make an appearance. Hours went by without anything. The monster was intelligent, but not intelligent enough to conceal his traps skillfully; to a trained shinobi the rudimentary snares might as well had streamers and balloons around them. Despite the obvious traps, Kenji didn’t dare go down until he actually saw the monster; he couldn’t risk being taken off guard by such a deadly creature. One slip, one false move, a blink and it could be all over. Kenji stalked patiently as the sun was dwindling; still nothing, just critters. Behind the cave was a scattered wooded terrain, and it was there that a great deal of commotion was generating from.

The monster stomped out of the woods, standing 10ft tall and absolutely massive. Kenji swallowed as he was momentarily intimidated by the sheer size of the being. The monster lifted a boulder with ease and threw it into the woods knocking over one of the trees. He then went over to the fallen tree and picked it up and brought near the entrance of the cave. From inside the cave he drug out a pot of brown liquid that was bubbling, he then added the leaves from the tree to it. “Looks like we have ourselves a monster chef,” Kenji said sarcastically. The moon was now in the sky and the monster was beginning to partake in his meal. As Kenji crept down the slope, ready to initiate his assault, he spotted next to the fiend a kanobo, a very dangerous blunt weapon. Kenji had trained heavily in Onojutsu so he knew how to avoid and deal with such weapons. But today, all Kenji had with him was his rusty katana and his kunai and shuriken. However, with Kenji’s skill in weapons, he could make a leaf dangerous.

Kenji was about 5 meters from the base; he was looking at the monster’s grizzly back, riddled with moles and puss. His body was a sickly green, his muscles massive but unhealthy looking. Kenji was now on flat ground and staring at the eating golem that was about 10 meters from him… The blue haired shinobi crept to 5 meters, and began to move even slower as he drew his katana. With precision and caution Kenji maneuvered around the trap. Now 3 meters away, the monster deftly hurled the pot of soup over his head, hurling the liquid at Kenji.

As the liquid roared forward, Kenji discerned that it wasn’t soup; the liquid was too thick, and it appeared to be comprised mostly of dirt. “Shit, if I get hit by this paste, I won’t be able to move. Think, Kenji! Think!”

The monster, despite his size moved deceptively fast inside his cave. Meanwhile, Kenji was using his speed to leap forward, where the paste was the thinnest and least in volume. Kenji was able to limit the exposure to just a few splatters here and there. Kenji now stared at the monster that had scooped up his kanobo as he moved to the cave. He held the kanobo in his right hand over his right shoulder. He let out a primal roar that was amplified by the cave; the vicious sound wave knocked Kenji back, cringing.

An eerie sensation was rippling throughout his entire body. “What was that, Ninjutsu or pure strength?” Kenji thought, lying on his back perplexed. The fallen shinobi rubbed his head. A spotlight was on Kenji as he rose to his feet, dusting himself off. A snarl was being emitted from the beast as he continued to stare down Kenji. The ninja kicked up some loose dirt, further obscuring his figure in the moonlight. Behind the cloud of dust Kenji weaved a few hand seals, immediately after finishing he charged forward. A move that had became a staple of Kenji’s offense, a simple but in the hands of Kenji a very effective Genjutsu. Fantasy Mirror has been Kenji’s signature jutsu ever since he was a Genin, and he used the same Genjutsu to get the advantage over the previous monsters he faced. As Kenji charged forward and drew his katana across his face; the well tended bladed shimmered also snaring the monster in Kenji’s most used Genjutsu.

While Kenji moved forward, due to the effects of the Genjutsu, the monster would see Kenji running away. Kenji still had his katana in his right hand moving forward undetected. The beast was infuriated to see Kenji running away so it lifted a huge metal bowl with one hand easily and threw it like a disk heading right for the real Kenji. Kenji was forced to jump over the pot, the leap caused Kenji to lose control of the illusion because of the lack of chakra used to execute it; the Genjutsu was essentially cancelled.

The shinobi’s true position was now revealed as Kenji soared through the air. An evil smirk was on the monster’s face as he picked up the kanobo and lunged forward with his weapon raised. Kenji was vulnerable as he soared, but he quickly adjusted himself, preparing himself for the coming blow. The monster was swinging the kanobo horizontally, looking to thrash Kenji’s ribs. The beast’s kanobo was met with a raiton charged katana. The raiton chakra in the katana upon coming in contact with the kanobo ran through the weapon into the hands of the beast electrocuting him. The charge of electricity sent the beast flying downward to the ground with his kanobo flying away from him. The kanobo landed right next to Kenji. Even though he was trained in Onojutsu, this blunt weapon appeared too much, even for him; but he was going to try. Writhing and convulsing a few meters in front of him was the monster who was quickly recovering. His grotesque muscles were visibly twitching, but it was no longer bothering it. Kenji sheathed his katana and picked up the kanobo with both hands, he pivoted and spun on the opposite side of the kanobo, his back facing the monster; he brought the kanobo up and turned bringing it straight down for the monster.

The monster had recovered and he watched as his own weapon was being hammered down on him. A huge whack was heard as the monster back handed the spiked kanobo with the back of his hand. The kanobo went flying into the sticky and thick liquid, “At least he won’t be using it.” In a blur the monster took off for Kenji releasing a charged fist striking down for Kenji’s small figure in comparison to the giant. Kenji was in disbelief at how fast the monster could move; Kenji appeared to take the brunt of the attack.

The resourceful shinobi used the substitution and he replaced himself at high speed with a large rock, which was destroyed once it took Kenji’s place. Kenji used the distraction to charge forward, delivering a lateral thrust from his katana, while the enemy was distracted and unaware of his position. This was one of Kenji’s earliest and basic Bukitjutsu, Cloud Style: Deception Beheading.

As Kenji’s katana broke the monster’s skin, he was well aware that his katana most likely wouldn’t be able to fully pierce or fatally wound such a massive creature, so as soon as his katana pierced about 3 inches, he kicked the handle shooting the blade in a little further. The beast screamed; it was more anger than agony. Kenji utilized the leverage to launch himself up and backwards and while he flipped backwards he weaved 15 hand seals. When he landed the monster was removing the measly katana; he flung it over his shoulder. The monster then turned his attention to Kenji with a scowl on his face, but when he made eye contact with Kenji his eyes were flooded with brightness rendering him blind. Kenji was artfully weighing the beast’s mental energy down, weakening it. The monster was immobilized during the Genjutsu, but so was Kenji. As the Genjutsu came to a close as the beast saw the final beams cut through his trapped prism concealed body, he fell to the ground exhausted.

Concluding that he wouldn’t have enough time to retrieve his katana, he drew a kunai, and Kenji entered sage mode so he could react quickly to whatever the monster might try in close. Also, in sage mode his speed was increased, Kenji in a blur appeared on top of the monster that just looked up. Despite being just a kunai, a well aimed strike could be fatal and Kenji placed it perfectly right in the heart. As the kunai plunged into the monster’s chest, in a flash blood was poured onto Kenji’s entire body. So much he couldn’t open his eyes completely; he wiped the blood from his eyes and stood up while taking the kunai from the monster’s heart.

Still drenched in blood Kenji walked over to his katana and sheathed in it. Kenji took out a capsule that he used hold some of the blood, which he was going to bring back to the village to be tested. Kenji wasn’t sure what they were expecting to find, but he knew it couldn’t be good. There was a small body of water on the other side of the cliff that Kenji wanted to go to, but giving the time and the urgency of the mission he figured it would be best if he went straight back to the village. Kenji hacked the beast into tiny bits and buried the little pieces. Now really exhausted he made his way back to the village to deliver his results carrying the head of the monster in a sack thrown across his shoulder and the capsule in his pocket.

He made it just in time to catch the Raikage before she left. He gave the head and capsule to the guard/assistant to deliver to the Raikage; the guard seemed to be slightly startled by Kenji covered in dry blood. He then hurried home to shower and sleep. Kenji never enjoyed a shower as much as he enjoyed the one following his fight with the ogre. He washed all the blood from his hair and body and he was momentarily invigorated but his weariness quickly returned prompting him to get some sleep, as he was going to need the rest. Kenji had disposed of yet another monster, but all the signs were pointing to his monster slaying days not being over by a long shot. Until he was called upon again, he cherish his leisure time, and if the trend continued he would have to definitely continue training hard if he was to keep up with the increasing danger of his missions. He was always flattered and honored by the confidence his village had in him, he just hoped he could keep up the good work and not disappoint.
