Tatsumaru's vision was consumed with darkness. He found it was oddly relaxing to have his eyes shut. The endless darkness was like staring into the void of his soul. His corporal form stood atop a single wooden poll, his weight supported solely by his right leg. His left leg rested across the knee of his right leg, while his arms hung limp. He had been like this for two hours now, and although the wind was harsh and cold, he cared not. There was time to kill, and he was going to kill it. Slowly opening his left eye, Tatsumaru raised his head slightly, pointing it towards the horizon. The sun was beginning to peak it's noise over the horizon, coating the sky in an endless sea of orange and red hues.

Dropping off the pole and landing on the soft grass, Tatsumaru opened his other eye and looked around the field. It was a classic training spot for Konoha Shinobi, a clear field, barren with the exception of a few thick wooden poles. It was surrounded on one side by thick forest land, while on the other side sat the naka river. It had been this way since time immemorial, and Tatsumaru doubted it would ever change. "They're late..." Tatsumaru groaned to himself, leaning against the pole he had previously been standing on with a sigh. He had been assigned two genin, and they were both late. Typical. Looking at his belt, a single silver bell hung from it's buckle. A classic spot and a classic training method. How... Cliché.

Rinshi was laying in bed in his boxers with his cover half way over his head, his snoring was deafening, mumbling in his sleep: Yuurin fly away..... ZZZZZZ.... No dont eat that....... ZZZZZZZZ. Moments later, “BRRT BRRT BRRT BRRT,” the sound of Rinshi's alarm clock cried, “IM UP,” Rinshi rolled out of bed onto the floor, while hitting his head on his nightstand , “Ouch,” he exclaimed while rubbing his aching temple, his vision slowly returning, he attempted to make out the time on the clock, “OH CRAP, IM LATE” he said hysterically. Rinshi ran to his closet grabbing his clothes, he hopped on one leg down the hallway pulling on his pants inching towards the steps he placed the other foot in the pants, and....THUD...BOOM....WHAM.... Rinshi scrambling to his feet from his painful fall down his staircase, he made his way out the door, pulling on his shirt and and dashed for the training zone.

Rinshi began maneuvering through the thick dense green forest, he could see the Naka River gleaming, “I'm almost there,” he said. Rinshi came to an open field that met the Naka River, he looked around surveying the land and he spotted a man, with his eyes closed leaning on a wooden poll dressed in Special Jounin attire. Rinshi began approaching the Special Jounin waving as he called out to him, "Hey, are you Team five's captain? My name is Rinshi Hyuga." The man had an agitated look on his face, and Rinshi soon thought his current entrance didn't seem appropriate.

As usual, Niko was doing his push-up routine on the roof of his house that he does whenever he has a chance to. He had started approximately at 3 O' Clock in the morning when he woke up from a small nap, and now it seems that it was around sunrise. Not keeping track of the number of his push-ups, Niko didn't care how many he did, all that mattered was that he was improving his physical prowess. Finally, after a few hours of repeatedly doing exercises, he decided to start heading out on of Konoha's many training grounds. Jumping off of his house's roof, he starts along a path towards the meeting place.

He was scheduled for a meeting with a Special Jounin that he was assigned to be in a Genin squad with. It seemed that he was going to be his new teacher. In all honesty, Niko wasn't so thrilled about joining a squad, yet it didn't bother him in the slightest. He just went along with it and had his 'whatever' attitude he felt and displayed most of the time he spent breathing.

Something was a little off. He tried deciphering the reason why he was picked for a Genin squad out of the blue. Was this in any relation with Takeshi taking him on an earlier mission to take out the Litter Bug Gang? He thinks back to what Takeshi said as the reasoning for them doing a mission together...

Takeshi places both of his hands in his pockets once again, pauses for a moment, then states “Some of the higher ups in the village think you have some talent, after all, they do keep tabs on all of us ninja of the village. So they assigned you to this mission with me as a sort of...evaluation of sorts.”

Snapping back into reality, he forgets trying to asks the whys and hows of him being assigned to this Genin squad. Answers would present themselves whenever the time was right, so Niko decided to leave it be.

After a short while of just walking, looking at the scenery along the path, and watching the sun rise, he finally arrives at the meeting location. This training area looks simple, yet there was something special about it. Many of ninja must have passed through here and shed blood, sweat, and tears to become better at their craft. He scans the area and locates a few large logs planted into the ground and a couple people loitering in that small vicinity. They must be members of his new squad.

He started to walk towards the location, and the human figures became more distinguishable. One looked like a teenager with white-ish hair similar to Niko's. He also looked young, possibly being the exact age as Niko, but it didn't matter. the other figure was dressed in standard ninja attire for ranks Chuunin to Jounin would usually wear. He had an unpleasant look on his face. Niko must have been late, yet he didn't give a damn. All that mattered was that he got the general details about being in this squad and what types of missions that they'd be completing together. Would they be run-of-the-mill Genin D-rank missions? or would they be a little more adventurous and combat-oriented? There was only one way to find out.

Approaching the two, Niko asked blatantly 'Hey! Are you two with Squad 5?"

The minute sound of air being disturbed as Tatsumaru spun a shuriken around his left index finger was a calming sound to say the least. There was something about the sound that put Tatsumaru at ease. It settled the demons in his head and helped keep him entertained until his students arrived. Finally, movement in the horizon caught his eye. A short boy with white hair began approaching Tatsumaru, waving excitedly as he approached. Although he should have been pleased that the boy had finally shown up, all he felt was frustration. The brat was not only late, but he seemed happy about the fact that he was late. "Hey, are you Team Five's captain? My name is Rinshi Hyuuga." the boy called out in a loud, jovial tone of voice. Tatsumaru held his position in stark silence, turning his focus back to the Shuriken which still spun upon his finger. One down, one to go.

After a few minutes of silence, another individual slowly approached. This boy, just like Rinshi, had short white hair and an aura that screamed of their casual disregard for how late they were. Fantastic. This would be a painful experience, to say the least. Still, he had to do what he had to do. "Hey! Are you two with squad five?" Again, Tatsumaru ignored the statement until Niko took his place beside Rinshi. "My name is Tatsumaru Uchiha," Tatsumaru began to address the genin, his voice icy and emotionless. As the first syllable left his lips, he stopped spinning the shuriken, and instead dropped his finger so that the shuriken rolled off his nail. The pent up momentum in the star took over and it went flying, crashing into the ground between the feet of Niko and Rinshi. Without missing a beat, Tatsumaru continued speaking. "Today, I will be assessing your combat abilities. Your goal is simple: Acquire the bell that hangs from my waist," Pausing briefly, Tatsumaru shook the bell, ensuring both genin saw it. "Come at me like you want to kill me and maybe you will stand a chance." As he finished his sentence, Tatsumaru turned his back towards the genin and began to walk away at a relaxed pace towards the river, his hands hanging casually at his sides.

“Hmm this could be interesting," he said with a dull tone. Rinshi eyed the Genin named Niko standing next to him he had cloud white hair, a thin but toned frame and didn't look much older than him. Rinshi redirected his attention to his Sensei who had left the two of them and stood in front of the Naka River, his words to the two of them "Come at me like you want to kill me and maybe you will stand a chance." Rinshi became overwhelmed with excitment to get to combat right off the bat shouted, “BELLS, NO PROBLEM,” he exclaimed. Rinshi then sped toward the man reaching for a kunai from the pouch on the side of his right pant leg. Holding the kunai in his right hand, the blade end pointed at Niko, he closed in on Tatsumaru while his back was turned, he leaped nimbly from the ground while in pursuit of the vulnerable man, he twirled in mid-air readjusting his body, he stretched his left leg aiming for Tatsumaru's head, his right leg stiffly bent under his leg he held both arms behind his back with a slight slouch in his back

Ignoring Niko's question until he had exactly arrived in front of the Special Jounin's presence, he then addressed Niko and his new squadmate in a formal fashion by introducing himself "My name is Tatsumaru Uchiha." You could tell he was an emotionless bastard. Sure, Niko carried a uncaring attitude at this surface, but he had some feelings towards a very select group of people whom he cared for. This guy was the real deal, and he obviously wasn't giving a damn at all about Niko nor his new Genin squadmate.

He was spinning a shuriken star on one of his fingers and then supposedly "dropped" it. It was angled so it'd be placed in the space inbetween the two Genin's feet. As soon as this occured, he continued with the general introduction to his new students. "Today, I will be assessing your combat abilities. Your goal is simple: Acquire the bell that hangs from my waist."

He could hear his squadmate mutter in a dull tone "“Hmm this could be interesting." Out of Niko's peripheral vision, he saw the fellow teenager observing him for a quick moment.

Tatsumaru then shook the bell so the young ninja could divert attention towards the location and sound of the bell. "Come at me like you want to kill me and maybe you will stand a chance."

Without any type of worries, he turned his back on the Genin and started walking in the other direction towards the Naka River. He obviously wanted someone to make a rookie mistake and rush in to attack. It seems the other Genin rank in the squad along with me fell right for the bait. As soon as he yelled "BELLS? NO PROBLEM!", Niko knew he had to keep this guy under control for them to be successful.

Without hesitation, the young man standing next to Niko grabbed a kunai knife from his side pouch and rushed in to attack our squad leader. Niko decided to follow swiftly to try and stop this guy from being embarrassed just as the exercise started. The Genin jumped in the air, trying to land a kick to the back of Tatsumaru's head. Just before he would've made contact, Niko catches up and grabs his newfound teammate, and brings him back to their original starting point.

Before the other young man could retort, Niko explained his reasoning "Don't go charging into battle against a man who's more skilled than you or me. Usually I like to handle my battles solo as well, but this guy looks like he doesn't care how much he inflicts pain or embarassment on us, as long as we stay alive and learn from our mistakes."

Niko catches his breath for a moment and then continues "Now, what I want us to do is work as a team and actually attack this guy. He knows the ultimate goal is for us to grab the bell, so that mean's he's on his guard, even if he looks pretty relaxed. We'll engage in regular hand-to-hand combat with him until you or I can figure out a strategy to grab that damn bell." Now, Niko has to wait for his partner to acknowledge the plan and then follow accordingly.

Tatsumaru couldn't help but smirk as he heard the ruckus behind him. He clearly heard someone kick off the ground, yet from the noises he heard it seemed the other kid had grabbed him and stopped him from charging head first into the bait. Clever lad. Still, they were sitting in the open discussing strategy, and that was a very stupid thing to do. Tatsumaru silently inhaled, moulding chakra in his throat. He held this chakra until he reached the shore of the river, where he suddenly turned on the balls of his feet, his gaze locking on his students. His hands slammed together in-front of his torso, forming the tiger seal. "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!" Tatsumaru yelled the name of his technique, not wanting to go all out on the Genin, before exhaling his chakra in one burst, releasing a massive ball of fire which began bellowing towards the Genin.

He paused for a second, watching his work of art fly towards his students, before dropping his left hand into the pouch that sat on his hip. He silently withdrew five shuriken, tossing them towards the fireball. Given that they travelled faster than it did, they would end up emerging from the ball after having been heated, ensuring they would cut deeper and leave a far more potent sting. Coughing, Tatsumaru raised his voice, addressing the students, presuming, of course, they weren't dumb enough to get hit by that attack. "Try not to stand in the open discussing strategy. That's just going to get you killed." Tatsumaru made sure to yell so that he could be heard clearly from the distance before turning around again, crouching down and casually cupping some of the river water in his hands. Raising the water to his face, he took a deep sip, enjoying the icy feeling as it snaked it's way down his throat. Teaching was certainly... interesting. Perhaps Tatsumaru was once this stupid. No, there's no perhaps about it. He was just like them once upon a time.

Rinshi, caught off guard by his squad-mate's action stood before him furious, but before he could say anything he began explaining, "Don't go charging into battle against a man who's more skilled than you or me. Usually I like to handle my battles solo as well, but this guy looks like he doesn't care how much he inflicts pain or embarassment on us, as long as we stay alive and learn from our mistakes,". Rinshi stood with a stubborn look on his face in response to his squad-mates statement. The Genin took the time to catch his breathe and continued, "Now, what I want us to do is work as a team and actualy attack this guy. He knows the ultimate goal is for us to grab the bell, so that mean's he's on his guard, even if he looks pretty relaxed. As Rinshi made his suggestion he heard in the distance, "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!" Rinshi spotted the oncoming giant ball of hell as he leapt attempting to avoid it. He then shouted, ”Now what genius!!!” Rinshi scolded his fellow squad-mate for making a mockery of him. As the Man responsible for the ball of fire "Try not to stand in the open discussing strategy. That's just going to get you killed." Rinshi noticed 2 shuriken coming straight for him out of the inferno while in motion, he shouted, ”Fūton: Rasen Fuusen!” Quickly he blew three small burst of wind into his right hand and instantly three petite sized balls of wind formed in his hand, Rinshi exclaimed, "How do you like this!” Rinshi then threw two of the balls of wind at the on coming flaming shuriken, at the same time he threw the final ball of wind towards the Man's head as he descended to the ground.

"An Uchiha, huh?, Sojiro thought to himself, reading the squad assignment he had been given just that morning, "This should be interesting."

As he moved swiftly through the forest and towards the clearing where he was told to meet his squad he repeated to himself how troublesome the whole concept of "teams" were. He had been shunned by his peers for years and now he was just expected to work with these people as if nothing happened? The notion of it was laughable. Just before reaching the clearing he brought himself to a stop, resting upon a tree branch, as he heard what sounded like people not far ahead.

He sneaked forward a bit further in order to observe what awaited him. Hidden behind the greenery of the forest, Sojiro saw three people, whom he assumed would be his squad mates and squad leader. It was clear to tell who was who as the two younger boys foolishly charged the man standing before them who was clearly superior in rank and skill. Sojiro did notice a bell hanging from the man's waist. "The bell test?" Sojiro thought to himself, "A bit old fashioned, aren't we?" Either way, if that is what it was going to be then Sojiro figured he might as well have given himself a head start. He summoned a small number of his bugs (15) and sent them to travel along the ground where they would be mostly discernible from regular insects. They were also completely silent, perfect for crawling up to this Uchiha unnoticed.

After making his preparations, Sojiro thought itself appropriate to make his presence known. As he walked out of the forest he apparently came just in time to see this instructor using katon jutsu on his students. "Marvelous," Sojiro thought to himself. Regardless, he approached the instructor with an outstretched arm holding a sheet of paper that included him on the staff roster with a note scribbled across the front that read "He's your problem now. ~Takao

After a moment, his squad-mate responded So what do you have in mind? I could use my Byakugan to keep him occupied while you go for the bell.”

Niko started thinking about if this guy should use his Byakugan doujutsu or not. It seems that he's from the Hyuuga clan. During Niko's contemplation all he heard from Tatsumaru's direction was "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!" , which was Japanese Rōmaji for the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique. That meant Niko's assumptions were right, his supposed new sensei was trying to push these two Genin to their limits.

When the fireball came near the two Genin, Niko hopped out of the way to avoid the flames. He hears his partner asking him ”Now what, genius?” in a sudden burst of excitement. Well that question was about to be answered.

Tatsumaru's voice glides in the air "Try not to stand in the open discussing strategy. That's just going to get you killed" along with a couple shuriken heading his way. He jumped high into the air to avoid the projectiles. It seems both him and his partner were successful in not getting hit. Next off, the Hyuuga made a ball od wind and chakra and fired it at Tatsumaru. I guess it was time for our counter-attack.

Niko exclaimed "Let's go now and fight him in close combat!"

Then he answered the Hyuuga's question from before they were attacked. "Yes, use you're Byagukan and Gentle Fist style!"

Both of them dashed down towards Tatsumaru and Niko noticed there was another figure along with them. He told his squad-mate "Hey, there's another one there with Tatsumaru. We'll find out soon what his deal is, but let's focus on the guy trying to turn us into burnt pastries."

After releasing the barrage of shuriken, Tatsumaru began to turn to face the river. His actions were interrupted, however, by seeing a figure in the trees. Someone was watching them. By pure instinct, Tatsumaru's eyes flared, the deep blue rapidly bleeding into a thick shade of red. His pupil contracted tightly, and two small tomoes began to dance around in an endless spiral. The individual was close enough that Tatsumaru could see his chakra pathway as a dull glowing fire. He clearly wasn't very high rank, or at least had a small chakra pool, given how small his flame was. However, traveling in a straight line from the man to Tatsumaru was fifteen tiny dots of blue flame. There was only one clan in konoha who could produce such a phenomenon: Aburame. He was sending bugs towards Tatsumaru, and he didn't appreciate it.

Having been so absorbed in analyzing the potential threat, Tatsumaru completely ignored the incoming attack from his students. By the time he heard the wind disturbance and turned to face him, the sphere of roaring chakra was already a few inches from his face. His left hand darted in-front of the sphere with startling precision, grabbing it firmly. The sphere dug into the surface of Tatsumaru's hand, shredding the outer layer of the inner palm of his left hand before dissipating. Looking at his hand, Tatsumaru smiled as blood began to pour out. Holding his hand in the air, Tatsumaru licked the blood off casually before tearing off his left sleeve with his right hand, wrapping it around the palm of his hand firmly to stop the bleeding. Turning back to face the Aburame kid, Tatsumaru saw that he was beginning to approach him. Answers at last.

As the kid approached, Tatsumaru entertained himself by stomping on each of the bugs as they got near him. He wasn't about to be marked by the bug boy. The kid approached to an arm's length away before stopping and extending a piece of paper towards Tatsumaru. Taking it, he read a note in his Sensei's hand writing. "He's your problem now." Great. Still, at least he had a third student. "Sojiro Aburame huh...Right. Change of plans, guys." Tatsumaru began to call out loud enough that the other two could hear him. "This guy will be fighting with you two. First to grab the bell wins, still one bell." Once he finished speaking, Tatsumaru grabbed the boy by the collar of his oversized coat with his blood covered left hand and with a casual flick of his wrist, dragged him off his feet and threw him towards the other two.

Rinshi a small distance from Niko as he exclaimed, "Let's go now and fight him in close combat!" The two dashed towards the man as he heard Niko say, "Yes, use you're Byagukan and Gentle Fist style!" Rinshi nodded as he closed his eyes for a few brief seconds without stopping as he shouted, “BYAKUGAN!!!” Rinshi opened his eyes as the veins thickened on the side of his eyes as he analyzed Tatsumaru's chakra pathway system as well as the unknown boys until he heard Niko in the backround, "Hey, there's another one there with Tatsumaru. We'll find out soon what his deal is, but let's focus on the guy trying to turn us into burnt pastries." Rinshi's field of vision increased by 50 meters as he noticed his Sensei stop the ball of wind he had thrown not to long ago tear the skin from his hand, then casually licking the blood as it were sugar! Rinshi grunted slight as he saw the man tear off his right sleeve and began wrapping it around his bloody hand as he redirected his attention to the boy.

Rinshi stopped as his now Sensei shouted to them, "This guy will be fighting with you two. First to grab the bell wins, still one bell." Rinshi became irritated, as he closed his eyes once more to conserve his chakra, the veins on the side of his eyes vanished and his eyes returned to normal. ”Isnt this just great, now what should we do?” Rinshi thought to himself trying to think of a more suitable strategy for the 3 of them. He then saw Tatsumaru hurl the boy between Niko and himself, he casually walked to the boy and extended his right hand to the boy sitting on the ground.

As Sojiro approached, the Uchiha activated his Sharingan and glared over in his direction and then down at the ground. "Someone's a bit jumpy. I guess he sees my insects," Sojiro thought to himself. As Sojiro drew closer the man began stomping on Sijiro's insects. The unnecessary killing of insects is usually something that would draw Sojiro's ire, but he had been trained all his life to view this particular breed of beetle as an expendable tool for shinobi work. His barbaric actions did nothing to smooth over Sojiro's preconceived notion of the Uchiha clan. "Typical Uchiha ape," Sojiro thought to himself, "I'm more surprised he didn't try to pick them off the ground and eat them."

When the Uchiha's brutish display finally came to an end, he was about to be struck by some manner of fuuton jutsu that was fired by one of the other boys. The damage done to the hand which he used to block the attack was mostly superficial, but between licking his own wound and ripping off his sleeve to use as a bandange the Uchiha certainly did make a show of things. Sojiro presented him with the document he was bid to show him by the Hokage. The man yelled out to the other two students that Sojiro would be joining them in their little exercise, just as Sojiro expected he would be. "What a troublesome situation. Not only am I stuck with this Uchiha brute, but I have to work with these two--" Sojiro's internal monologue was cut short by his new squad leader grabbing him by his collar and tossing him in the direction of the other two boys.

"So he's no different from any other shinobi brute after all." Sojiro mumbled to himself as it seemed one of the other boys was approaching him. The boy casually strolled over to Sojiro and offered his outstretched hand, maybe this boy wasn't as barbaric as the others. But that still left to be seen and the matter at hand was more impressing. Sojiro did not accept the outstretched hand, instead putting his hands in his pockets and using a cloud of his insects to lift him to his feet before retreating back into his coat. He gave a quick nod of acknowledgement to the boy and then turned in the direction of the Uchiha in preparation for whatever was coming next.

During Niko and the Hyuuga's charge at Tatsumaru, he noticed a quick exchange between his opponent and the new figure that had recently emerged. Then, Tatsumaru yelled "This guy will be fighting with you two. First to grab the bell wins, still one bell." and swiftly threw the mysterious figure towards Niko and his squad-mate.

His Hyuuga partner stated ”Isnt this just great, now what should we do?”

They both stopped to see what was up with him. Rinshi outstretched a hand to the young man, yet he didn't accept it. He placed his hands in his pocket and used insects to raise him to his feet. He must be from the Aburame clan. They then all turned attention towards Tatsumaru.

Niko then announced "Well, seems we have a little bit more to add to our strategy then. This guy isn't going to give us much time so let me explain what we'll do. Me and this guy from the Hyuuga clan will engage him in hand-to-hand combat, while whoever you are from the Aburame clan, you provide support from a distance."

He takes a quick break and continues "The ultimate goal is the bell, so make sure to focus on that as well. Now, let's go do this!"

In a burst of speed, Niko rushes toward Tatsumaru and his newfound comrades follow suite.

OOC: Niko: "In a burst of speed, Niko rushes toward Tatsumaru and his newfound comrades follow suite." You can't control your comrades like that. So, i'm RPing as though you charged forward alone, like you should have done.

Tatsumaru watched with an odd sense of amusement as his Genin tried to organise a strategy. How stupid of them. He could forgive the Aburame to an extent, given that he wasn't sure if the boy had heard the advice he had given the other two. Still, the rest of them knew better. Deciding to take it a bit easier on them, Tatsumaru's Sharingan slowly dissolved back into his regular dark blue eyes. They had activated purely on instinct, and he never intended on using them versus Genin to begin with.

Taking a moment to glance down at his hand, Tatsumaru saw that his makeshift bandage was working quite well. Admittedly, it was rather stupid of him to catch the attack, he knew he could have dodged it with his speed, but it still felt like he might as well hand them another advantage. Glancing up from the blood stained rag, Tatsumaru saw that Niko had begun to charge towards him. Fantastic. Dropping his right leg back so that his body was facing side on towards the Genin, Tatsumaru raised his fists, floating them casually on either side of his head like the Muay Thai boxer he is, waiting for the boy to strike.

Rinshi took back his outstrectched hand, now thinking of a new strategic approach now that there were 3 of them now, he then heard his white haired peer in the distance, "Well, seems we have a little bit more to add to our strategy then. Rinshi thought the strategy over, he then nodded looking at his Aburame squad-mate, following behind his other squad-mate, already in pursuit.

Rinshi noticed Tatsumaru deactivate his Sharingan, ”Perfect, and at the angle Im pursuing him from ill be sure to snatch the bell.” Rinshi thought to himself. While in pursuit he took a look at his new squad-mate of the Aburame clan he then thought, So, Aburame Clan? Don’t disappoint. With a slight grin to his thought, he readjusted his focus to Tatsumaru. Both Genin were now closing in on Tatsumaru with great speed. Tatsumaru who appeared unaware of Rinshi at the time, was preparing for the other white haired boys attack. Rinshi closed his eyes activating for a few brief seconds, building his chakra he activated his Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan, the veins on his eyes resurfaced. Rinshi, made no hesitation as he prepared to strike the man in the abdomen, he brought back his right hand, raising his left hand to his chest waiting for the proper moment to strike slowing down his pace.

It didn't take long for Sojiro's team mates to begin proving their incompetence. Before Sojiro even had a chance to think one of them was already barking out commands."Well, seems we have a little bit more to add to our strategy then. This guy isn't going to give us much time so let me explain what we'll do. Me and this guy from the Hyuuga clan will engage him in hand-to-hand combat, while whoever you are from the Aburame clan, you provide support from a distance." He then foolishly ran head first at an opponent that he had no chance of competing with. The Hyuuga boy followed not far behind.

"And he wants to talk about strategy? Who the hell does this kid think he is? Sojiro thought to himself, "I should allow him to get the punishment that is coming his way for his own arrogance." Sojiro thought about it for a second, but decided against it in the end. "He's of more use to me conscious at the moment. I can punish him for his insolence later.

Sojiro noticed that Tatsumaru had deactivated his Sharingan. "Good," Sojiro thought while plotting his next move, Now I can make my move after all. With the Sharingan deactivated, Tatsumaru would have no way of seeing a small number of bugs approaching him from the ground this time around. Sojiro removed his hands from his pockets, stretching them out to his sides. From that position he released a large swarm of his insects (2000) which flew around his body like a cloud.

It was now time to set his plan into motion. While the two boys charged the instructor Sojiro would send three different, small groups(45 in total, 15 from the left, 15 from the right, and 15 swinging around from the back) of bugs to flank the Uchiha on all sides. In order to provide further cover he created two insect Fuma Shuriken (400 insects each) and threw them at the instructor. The remainder of his beetles remained with him, forming a complete circle swirling around his feet in a defensive formation.

From what Niko notices, Tatsumaru notices that Niko is charging at him and gets into a stance. Before he focused on his enemy, he glances back for a moment to see if his squad-mates were behind him. the Hyuuga was also charging at their new sensei, while it seemed that the Aburame was doing what he was asked and collecting his bugs to strike. They were ready for combat. He then nothiced that Tatsumaru had deactivated his Sharingan that was activated in response to the Aburame clansmen. Niko thought "This should be fun." and continued to press on.

He was close to Tatsumaru and jumped high in the air. Then he proceeded to fly downward at him using a Jeet Kune Do style flying kick. He hoped to use that as a diversion to use one of his chakra-enhanced kicking Taijutsu to have some type of effect on the Uchiha.

Tatsumaru couldn't help but be amused at the fact that two of his students were so brash as to attack one of the towns most infamous Taijutsu users using Taijutsu. Granted, the only way to improve your Taijutsu skills was to train with someone superior, but this wasn't training, this was warfare. Clearly, they didn't truly understand that. While Tatsumaru knew little about the new Aburame brat, Niko and Rinshi both had their highest marks in Ninjutsu, so clearly they knew how to use it. And considering that his bug boy was beginning to amass a swarm, it was clear he was a long range fighter too, as opposed to that interesting sub-set of Aburame who use Taijutsu.

Niko's strike was first, as he kicked off the ground and aimed a sharp Jeet Kune Do flying kick towards his head. As Tatsumaru had no interest in giving these kids a taste of anything less than his full strength and speed, his left hand snapped forward as the kick shot towards his head, locking his hand around the kids ankle. Twisting on the balls of his feet towards the right, Tatsumaru swivelled his hips sharply, causing his body to snap sharply to the right. Abusing the additional force he got from utilising his core muscles, Tatsumaru dragged Niko straight past him, throwing him towards the river. Snapping his attention back to Rinshi and Sojiko, Tatsumaru saw that the swarm of bugs was rapidly encroaching on his space, meanwhile Rinshi was within striking range, his left hand cocked to strike at him. Tatsumaru had no interest in focusing on Rinshi, not while the bugs were closing in. The Aburame child was clearly the smartest of his students, as he had performed a rather well executed flanking strike. He had three small battalions of bugs moving into position, presumably to cover the rear and the flanks, while two large Fuma Shurikens made of pure bugs shot towards him. Still, he could manage this assault with one sleek jutsu.

Kicking off the ground, Tatsumaru abused his stronger leg muscles and superior speed to avoid any attack Rinshi may have been trying to line up, meanwhile his hands together, forming the Tiger Hand Seal. "Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu" Typically, this technique was saved for specific strikes using Wires as a channelling device, as without the surface to travel along the attack had a reasonably short range. Still, when he was being flanked by bugs on every side and had fuma shurikens made of bugs flying at him, what better to use than a flame thrower? Tatsumaru spun around mid-air as he began to exhale a sharp stream of fire. While it could only be maintained for six seconds, Tatsumaru made sure to use every second he had, focusing on burning the flanking bug squads, which died quickly, before turning the focus of his stream onto the larger mass of shuriken bugs, rapidly destroying them in kind. As he fell, Tatsumaru aimed the last bit of his flames towards the young Hyuuga that was under him, being sure to put pressure on all three of his students.

Not in the mood to be toyed with from a distance by the Aburame, as soon as Tatsumaru landed he began sprinting at his max speed towards Sojiro, his left fist raised into the air while his right hung close for defensive reasons. "Doton: Kengan no jutsu!" Tatsumaru's left arm began to bulge and take on a dark grey appearance as a thick layer of stone encased it in a matter of moments. The now rock covered fist was aimed directly at Sojiro's abdomen, and considering Tatsumaru had utilised his maximum speed on approach, he very much doubted the boy would be able to dodge it. Still, he was holding back on his physical force, the punch would send the kid flying a few feet, but it wouldn't break any bones, whereas if he weren't holding back, a blow of this nature would shatter his fragile rib cage.

Rinshi came to a hault, as his whie-hair teammate's attack had been countered as Tatsumaru, grabbed his teammate by the ball of his ankle and fling him towards the river, Tatsumaru then jumped and shouted "Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu!” Rinshi stood in the center of the temporary circle of fire created by Tatsumaru to incinerate, Rinshi's bug-friendly teammate's insects attempting to flank Tatsumaru. One by one the insects were burned into ash.

Rinshi stood below Tatsumaru, staring at the flames descending upon him. He quickly performed the Subtitution Technique (Kawarimi no Jutsu) scurrying to grab the wooden pole Tatsumaru had been resting upon earlier and placed it in the course of the flames Rinshi then ran to help his white-haired squad-mate who had just been thrown towards the river. The boy looked as if he were in pain,”You Okay?” Rinshi attempted to bring his partner to his feet, interrupting him before he could speak, ”Ok, apparently hand-to-hand combat is not working so this is.....”

Rinshi paused in midsentence as he heard in the distance, "Doton: Kengan no jutsu!” Rinshi turned towards the direction from whence he heard the sound and saw Tatsumaru speeding towards the Aburame kid, ”Shit, that Aburame kids in trouble, Fūton: Rasen Fuusen!” He then blew a burst of wind in his hand forming a small ball of wind, he then threw the ball of wind at Tatsumaru, he then blew a total of 5 times, throwing the balls of wind individually at Tatsumaru. After he finished his small assault.

Rinshi turned back to his teammate, ”We only have one shot at this, because I can feel my Chakra levels dropping, so here is the plan, Ill use Fūton: Daitoppa (Wind Release: Great Breakthrough) and you have the choice. Jump inside the tunnel of wind and fly towards Tatsumaru to grab the bell once your within arms reach of. Or, use a Katon technique, aim it at the tunnel once im no longer inside, and give him a taste of his own medicine. Decide, I have to perform the jutsu now!”

Rinshi turned in the direction of Tatsumaru as he inhaled deeply,”Lets see how you like this!” Rinshi stood straight with his feet together pointing in Tatsumaru's direction, clapping his hands together in front of his torso, as if he were playing, and said Fūton: Daitoppa! Within in seconds, a large howling tunnel of wind shot from exactly 1 meter behind Rinshi. Inside of the tunnel holding his ground in his previous position, he thought to himself, Its all up to you my friend.

As expected, Sojiro's foolish teammate's head on assault on the Uchiha failed miserably. The more experienced and apparently skilled Uchiha seemed to effortlessly catch the boy's attack and with a quick pivot send him flying into the river that flowed just nearby. Unfortunately Sojiro's attack was unable to connect as well, not that he expected a tactic that simple to catch an experienced shinobi off guard. It was a katon jutsu that stopped Sojiro's insects, something he expected considering his opponent was an Uchiha. The other boy, the one that offered to help Sojiro up, was apparently not as he was forced to use a substitution jutsu to escape the flames. While all of this was going on Sojiro fortified his defenses by releasing more insects into the defensive formation swirling around his feet, bringing the total back up to two thousand.

Immediately upon landing the Uchiha darted straight towards Sojiro. Trying to take out the opponents' ranged support in order to force them to fight under conditions more preferable for you? One of the most basic tactics in the book. The speed at which the man approached was a concern, it did not appear as though he was holding back his speed to match his students'. What was more concerning however was the layer of earth that appeared to be forming around his left hand, surely it was intended to increase the destructive power of his strike. At this point it was apparent that Sojiro's opponent had deduced his lack of close combat skills from his reluctance to close the gap between them. Sojiro was well aware of his own lack of talent for taijutsu and spent years of his childhood honing his reflexes and perceptive abilities in order to compensate for his frailty with his dodging ability.

From the corner of his eye Sojiro could also see one of his teammates firing what appeared to be several fuuton projectiles in the direction of the charging Uchiha, obviously trying to provide some cover fire for Sojiro. Sojiro appreciated the effort, but would have preferred the boy conserve his chakra rather than wasting it with this futile attempt. At the speed their opponent was moving none of those orbs were going to connect, besides Sojiro was more than cognizant of his vulnerability in close combat and had prepared a contingency plan for just such an occasion. As the Uchiha closed in and aimed his punch directly at Sojiro's abdomen he had stepped into Sojiro's insect circle. Sojiro dropped straight to the ground as quickly as possible to avoid the strike. With a smirk on his face hidden behind his high color, Sojiro looked up to see his insects swarming his attacker. The swarm immediately circled and began to coat the attacker, who had carelessly stepped right into Sojiro's trap, from head to toe. For a moment he contemplated detonating all 2000 insects that had attached themselves to the man at once, but decided against it since it conflicted with his actual plan. Besides, that kind of manipulation required a connection stronger than he could establish at the moment after his Fuma shuriken attack. His real goal here was to claim the bell for himself and prove his superiority, but to do that he needed his insects.

Sojiro immediately jumped back in order to create some distance between him and his opponent. The insects already had their orders, they didn't need him in harm's way to carry them out. A small group of the insects would eat through the thin string holding the bell while the swarm provided a diversion, the chakra consumption effect of his insects was merely a bonus (5% at D-rank). The swarm would cover the Uchiha from head to toe like a cloud of black smoke. His eyes and face covered in insects that would temporarily rob him of his sight, even if he activated his sharingan at this point, all he would see was the veil of tiny chakra dots created by the swarm. The swarm also acted in a way to disable his hearing. Even if he managed to somehow hear for the bells past the buzzing of thousands of insects, he would not be able to tell that the bell was being taken. How would he know if the ringing was not caused by his own movements as he might struggle to rid himself of the swarm, or from the insects themselves moving around on top of it? Sojiro also highly doubted he would feel the bell being taken, while two thousand insects crawled all over his skin.

A wide grin came across Sojiro's face as he was sure his plan would work. Checkmate. His victorious feeling however, would be short lived as he saw the fuuton user from before using a second jutsu. This time he came flying forward in an intense gust of wind which was obviously intended to catch the Uchiha inside. That idiot! He's going to ruin everything! Bokuden thought to himself. As soon as the gust would come into contact with the mass of insects they would be blown off along with everything inside before they had a chance to secure the bell.

As soon as the kick came within range of the Special Jounin, it seemed he wasn't going to allow Niko's original plan to go smoothlly. He took his left hand and grabbed Niko's leg firmly. Next thing you know, Tatsumaru threw Niko like a shot put as far as the Naka River. The force and speed of the attack by this strong Uchiha didn't phase Niko what-so-ever. In the back of his mind, he knew a simple Taijutsu combination wouldn't work on someone as skilled in the art as Tatsumaru was. Sure, Niko was pretty well aquainted with hand-to-hand combat along with jutsu associated with such, but he wasn't on par with Tatsumaru, not just yet.

Crashing into the water, he began swimming up top towards breathable air, along thinking of a counter-attack for the man who catapulted him through the skies. Reaching the surface of the water, he watches in the direction of his enemy as he diverted and foiled the attcks of Niko's new teammates. Using the Dragon Fire Technique (Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu), a Fire Release jutsu that requires wires to  accomplish. Simply, one uses the wires to direct the effective burst of flames towards a target with deadly accuracy. Using that jutsu, Tatsumaru managed to rid the Aburame's groups of bugs and hit the Hyuuga as well.

Alas, it was a "Substitute" Hyuuga that Tatsumaru hit with the jutsu. Giving praise to the squadmate mentally "Well done, Hyuuga."

Immediately following the evasion, the Hyuuga clansman rushed towards Niko to check on him. ”You okay?” he asked. Without giving Niko a chance to respond, he continued. ”Ok, apparently hand-to-hand combat is not working so this is...”

Before he as able to finish the sentence, both of them looked in the direction of the rest of their squad. Tatsumaru was rushing straight for the young Aburame. Hearing "Doton: Kengan no jutsu!” (which is japanese Romaji for Earth Release: Fist Rock Technique), they both witnessed himdig his arm into the dirt while running swiftly, building up a gaumtlet made of earth and chakra. Immediately, the Hyuuga exclaimed  ”Shit, that Aburame kids in trouble, Fūton: Rasen Fuusen!” and firing a total of five balls of wind at the charging individual.

Without taking a breath, he addressed Niko ”We only have one shot at this, because I can feel my Chakra levels dropping, so here is the plan, Ill use Fūton: Daitoppa (Wind Release: Great Breakthrough) and you have the choice. Jump inside the tunnel of wind and fly towards Tatsumaru to grab the bell once your within arms reach of. Or, use a Katon technique, aim it at the tunnel once im no longer inside, and give him a taste of his own medicine. Decide, I have to perform the jutsu now!”

This time, the Hyuuga continued talking while taking a deep breath ”Lets see how you like this!" Standing straight and clapping his hands together, readying the attack to aim straight for Tatsumaru, he finally exclaims "Fūton: Daitoppa!" (which is Japanese Romaji for Wind Release: Great Breakthrough) and a large tunnel of wind starts racing towards their newly appointed sensei. Niko quickly thought to himself "I'll do the latter and enhance my technique using the Hyuuga's wind tunnel."

Leaving no indication of his plans to counter-attack Tatsumaru, he rushes at him with remarkable speed. Purposefully staying a foot behind the wind tunnel at all times in order to hit Tatsumaru with the jutsu without failure. Looking ahead, the Aburame is lying on the ground, yet bugs spawn from him instanteanously as he reclaims his footing and swarm Tatsumaru.

"Those chakra suckers will hold him off for awhile. Yet, that doesn't mean the plan has to change in any aspect except..." mentally pausing for a short second to conjure up another piece to add to his strategy.

Suddenly, a figurative lightbulb sparked itself in Niko's head. "...I can grab the bell before the blast hits him!"

He had a short window before the wind tunnel hit Tatsumaru, so he conjured up his chakra for his contribution to the wind tunnel. Planning on using the Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu (translation into Japanese Romaji is Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu). Forming a Tiger hand seal in motion, he releases the jutsu and emits a large fireball at the wind tunnel. The concentration of wind turns into a giant mass of fire heading for Tatsumaru.

Not hesitating for a moment, he advances at his fastest speed, beating the fire tunnel in a non-exisent race. He arrives at the bug-covered Tatsumaru and quickly uses the Leaf Gale technique (Japanese Romaji is Konoha Reppū) on the waist of Tatsumaru. The rear spinning kick clears that area of Tatsumaru and the bell is still placed on his waistline. He swiftly grabs it and dodges out of the way of the large fire blast heading for Tatsumaru and, a realization that Niko had just noticed, his Aburame squadmate.

Niko yells in a large breath "Get out of the way Aburame!" and awaits to see how the two react the the impact of the large fire tunnel racing towards half of his new Genin squad.

Kawarimi no Jutsu, the basic Substitution technique. Although this move is taught at the academy, and is something every shinobi uses, Tatsumaru often found his higher ranked comrades looked down on it, seeing it as something beneath them. A trick they needed as an academy student which is no longer required in their adult life. It was always a view that struck Tatsumaru as rather stupid. The move was a brilliant one. Sure, it's fundamental core was simple, swap yourself with another object, but the meat of it wasn't the substitution, it was the illusion. The wise shinobi could make the substitution look real for awhile, have them bleed, recoil in pain and deceive an enemy before the trick is revealed. Clearly, it was a lesson he had to teach his students.

Tatsumaru wasn't an idiot. He knew the Aburame had been amassing a visual swarm over several posts, and assuming he had decent reaction times, he would either block with the bugs or use them offensively, performing a blanket covering tactic like most Aburame do. One does not survive in the Aburame clan without learning the most basic of their strategy, after all. So, when he acted in an ultimately predictable way, Tatsumaru was more than prepared to substitute himself out, replacing his body with one of the many posts littered around the environment which was sitting in loose soil, easy to dislodge. The bugs coated the illusion, creating a beautiful, bug coated Tatsumaru silhouette. The real Tatsumaru moved quickly to the trees, removing himself before anyone noticed his presence and busted the illusion prematurely.

Five crisp spheres of wind smashed into the illusion, each one landing firmly into Tatsumaru's substitution's back, blood splattering everywhere as he dropped to his knees. Niko came charging him from the side, lodging a sharp kick into his stomach almost immediately after the spheres had impacted. As his hand grasped the bell hanging from Tatsumaru's substitution's waist, the time was up, and the illusion dissolved, revealing itself as nothing more than a large wooden post, the bell in Niko's hand vanishing as well. Now, their own, admittedly rather clever, combination attack was dangerously close to hurting the Aburame kid. Tatsumaru considered interfering but realised the attack would only seriously burn him, not kill him, and decided against it. They had to learn teamwork the hard way, and besides, Tatsumaru had a moment to take advantage of. They were disorientated and confused, the best time to strike.

Forming the Rat Hand Sign, Tatsumaru locked his eyes on the Hyuuga brat, speaking the name of the technique aloud at such a silent tone that he was certain they would not hear him. "Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu" the words snaked out through an almost devilish grin, as Tatsumaru knew the young Hyuuga would now be experiencing his Genjutsu. Now to complete his plan, Tatsumaru put the inner two fingers of each hand together, forming a simple cross. Two puffs of smoke appeared, one on either side of Tatsumaru, revealing two identical clones of Tatsumaru. "Excellent." the three Tatsumarus said in unison. The trio then began to sprint out of the jungle, the original heading towards Niko, while one clone headed for each of the other students. All three Tatsumaru had the same plan in mind: Approach as fast as they could and attempt to land a firm right kick on the target's abdomen.

Rinshi opened his eyes prior to the 3 Genin’s attack, noticing the wooden post swapped out for the real Tatsumaru.  Rinshi grew annoyed and wished to end the battle at this point, Rinshi then stood aimlessly as he noticed leaves beginning to whirl around him.  Rinshi stood not understanding how their plan could have failed, Rinshi then bringing his attention back to the leaves thought to himself.  ”What is with these leaves i can hardly see what the hell is going on.”

As the leaves subsided and fell before him.  Rinshi stood perfectly motionless, as 5 Giant Black Widow spiders stood before him.  Rinshi did nothing but mutter, unable to move a muscle, thought to himself, I can’t move, I know this is the end!  Rinshi, as the Black Widows approached, stared at his doom then, he balled his fist speaking in a low tone.  ”I don’t believe it.  Is this for real?!?! Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain to his stomach as if someone kicked him full force.  Rinshi began tumbling backwards into the river.  As he crawled out from the river, the world around him began to dissolve as he saw Tatsumaru in full sprint towards him.  Rinshi quickly brought himself to his feet, preparing for the strike, took his stance with his eyes opened eyeing Tatsumaru.  As he began closing in, Rinshi said with a loud outburst,  ”I AM A MEMBER OF THE HYUGA CLAN, AND I WILL NOT DIE OR FALL DEFEATED TO ANYONE!!!”  At the same time, Tatsumaru aimed a basic simple punch to his face, Rinshi swiftly and effectively avoided the attack by leaning slightly to the right at the same time stretching out his own hand in an attempt to swipe the bell that resided at Tatsumaru's waist and pushed out Tatsumaru’s arm.  I think i can grab it, I can get the bell!!! Rinshi thought ecstatically high hopes reached for the bell.  Rinshi then counter-acted, aiming a quick palm strike to his abdomen which if successful, followed by another strike to his left pectoral, and finishing with a more violent strike to his face.

Upon seeing a large flaming fuuton tunnel rapidly approaching him Sojiro quickly dived out of the way taking as many insects from his swarm out of harms way as he could (400). Standing just a few meters from him was the boy who had flown through the wind tunnel and grabbed the bell, with a triumphant look on his face. No... It shouldn't have been that easy, Sojiro thought to himself as he quickly scanned his surroundings. There were no signs of the Uchiha, although his sight limited by the flaming tunnel cutting off his view of the other side of the field. What's he playing at here? Sojiro continued to analyze the situation in his own mind, knowing that the attack hadn't worked. Before the jutsu collided he had clearly seen something break out from the formation of insects, the Uchiha himself most likely. All that the other boys' intrusion had accomplished was further wasting their resources and charring over one thousand of Sojiro's beetles.

As he turned his gaze back to the boy holding the bell an icy glare full of contempt was visible on Sojiro's face. A look that would soon become one of shock as the bell in the boy's hand dissipated. It was a fake! Bokuden said to himself as he quickly repositioned himself atop one of the wooden posts a few meters behind him, not waiting for the other two to figure out what had happened. From that location he immediately began replacing the swarm he had lost with the insects that had been constantly reproducing within him the whole fight, bringing the swarm around him up to one thousand strong. As the flaming tunnel dissipated all that was left in was a charred post similar to the one Sojiro was now standing on. With the fire now extinguished Sojiro could perform a full visual scan of the area. He isn't anywhere to be seen. I didn't hear or see any disturbances in the river directly behind me. He isn't above me. He could be a doton user and travel underground, hopefully getting atop this post will buy me some time to evade if that is the case. The only other place to hide is the forest... just like I had done earlier. Hmph, maybe he is smarter than he looks.

Sojiro's analysis was cut short by a scream coming from his left. The Hyuga boy was seemingly stunned with fear for no apparent reason. What the hell is his problem? Is he so afraid that he has given up the challenge? Pitiful. No... that isn't normal fear. Is it a genjutsu? If that was the case then Sojiro had to at least consider the possibility that they were all already trapped in an illusin, maybe even from the beginning. It seemed highly unlikely as the insects inside of his body would have begun behaving strangely had his chakra been disturbed. Confirming his theory would have to wait as three identical Uchihas came flying out from the woods at the same speed he had seen earlier. Could it be another illusion, or is it a bunshin? With the speed that they were moving there was little time to worry about that, action had to be taken immediately. He didn't have time to look at the other copies of the shinobi, but this one at least was not a normal bunshin. Standard academy bunshin do not interact with the environment and this one's footsteps clearly crushed the grass beneath his feet. It was either a genjutsu or some manner of advanced clone, perhaps a kage bunshin. Either way Sojiro did not have the luxury of waiting to find out.

He quickly put his insects into action, commanding the swarm to gather on the ground in front of him as he jumped down from the post, the last thing he needed was to get caught in the air. At his current level Sojiro did not have the power to allow his insects to keep up with the incoming assailant so he would have to go on the defensive... again. Waiting until he saw the attacker commit to the attack he used the swarm in front of him to form an insect wall to eat the kick. That however, was only part of his plan. After the kick was stopped he would cause a chunk of the swarm to immediately coat the assailant's face and detonate them. Such a small number wouldn't cause any significant damage, but would for all intents and purposes blind the Uchiha, at least for a moment. During that moment Sojiro could have the insects that were on the attacker's leg from colliding with the way chew through the thin string and bring him the bell.
