Kenji Chikara

Kenji Chikara

D-rank
It has been a while since Kenji has took on a mission. Spending most of his time training and studying as of late. His Kenjutsu and Genjustsu continue to improve at an impressive rate. Even though his last two missions were D-rank, he garnered a lot of respect from his peers jounin included. Word spread of his mission success and his relentless training, and it was recommended to Kage by a jounin that Kenji be utilized in a few higher ranked missions. At first the Kage and his advisors were unsure, Kenji was still relatively fresh out of the academy and his D-rank missions, despite his superb performance, were still D-rank. He’s turning out to be a rather revered and likable shinobi among the village of Kumogakure. Mostly due to his Kekkai Genkai and special clan jutsus, Kenji has proven time and time again in sparring to be more than competent in Kenjutsu and Genjutsu, to the point where it was finally decided upon that Kenji would receive his first C-rank mission.
Surprisingly, Kenji had enjoyed himself quite a lot on his missions despite their mundane nature. Kenji was reading a book on the roof of his apartment when a special jounin body flickered in his presence. Kenji was unaffected, this had become somewhat of a reoccurring theme. “Congratulations, you’re moving up.” The special jounin said with a genuine smile as he handed Kenji the mission envelope. Before Kenji could even display minimum courtesy by saying thank you, the special jounin had disappeared from his sight. Kenji set his book aside, and eagerly opened the envelope. His anticipation stemmed from the fact that it has been quite sometime since his last mission. He threw his hands up in jubilance. “Finally a mission where I get to fight.” Kenji exclaimed, having been waiting a considerable amount of time to truly test his skill and progress in a real life situation. In excitement Kenji leaped from atop his roof and sprinted inside to get his wallet. His first C-rank mission was tomorrow and he wanted to be prepared for whatever might come his way. After stocking up on some basic supplies he headed to the sky bar to get something to eat, wanting to make sure he had abundant energy for his first true test. His job was to eradicate a violent new band of bandits that were terrorizing the locals. I could tell from the description that they weren’t too bright, being that they had set up near the general area. No matter how dull, from the information I acquired they were fierce fighters that attacked first and asked questions later.
“It should be easy enough to deal with these brutes; it’s my duty to send a message of zero tolerance to anyone who has the same agenda.” He explained to his comrade who has only been on one mission which was D-rank. His comrade often expresses his anxiety about going on more dangerous missions, knowing he is not ready. Obviously Kenji does not share his friend’s emotions on the topic as he welcomes danger not for sake of thrill but for it is sake of necessity. He has to prove himself. They were two things left to be addressed before Kenji would be ready for tomorrow infiltration. First, he had to choose between going in alone (which he was flattered they considered him good enough). It didn’t take long, he quickly notified a messenger to notify the Kage he was going in alone. Lastly, he needed rest.
Kenji wore a long coat to conceal his sword; he wanted to have the element of surprise. It was such a beautiful day in Kumogakure, Kenji almost regretted having to deal in such matters on an evening like this, but it was necessary. The wind brushed his upper lip making him a little jittery yet alert. The darkness soon consumed the area Kenji had been scouting. It became clear that these bandits attacked from the shadows. He soon progressed to higher ground, quickly skipping over any allies or dark passages that might harbor scum. After about a half a hour of dashing from roof to roof without being noticed, it wasn’t a visual that gave up his enemies’ position but a sound. He heard a faint grunt that came from an alley he had passed a while ago. The game of cat and mouse was over; Kenji quickly disrobed revealing his sword in its sheath on his back. When he got to edge, he knew his enemies were down scurrying about. But something told him they knew he was there. He drew his sword and slowly approached the edge. As Kenji glanced down, he saw that it was only at the end of the alley where light did not dwell, the center however was visible. If he didn’t want to be stricken by a blow he could not see, he would keep the fight in the center. Soon after, a better idea occurred to him. He leaped off the roof not into the alley but into the main street. A grin slowly appeared on Kenji’s face, as he threw two kunai into the alley. A loud screech was let out, a satisfying sound for Kenji. The scream lasted for about two seconds; after ten seconds went by without a peep or a rustle. He wielded his sword bracing himself for whatever darkness had to bring him. Then suddenly without warning, 4 ghoulish looking savages darted towards him with alarming speed, one of whom was bleeding from the kunai Kenji threw. Four at once was going to be difficult for Kenji to handle. Therefore, he used Doppleganger to even things up a bit. In the smoke created by the jutsu, Kenji took advantage and spilled two of the alley dweller’s guts. The other two, the one he hit and the other was significantly bigger than the others. He could tell these guys were strong by their insistence to get in close. Now that is was two on one, Kenji could easily fend them off while delivering several damaging strikes. After a brief stare down, they eventually realized their predicament and attempted to flee. Kenji had three more kunai just for this kind of thing. He let two of them go both aiming for the back of their calf. The one that was hit earlier stayed down, but the bigger one made his way back to his feet. The big savage slowly turned to face Kenji and just stood still staring at him. Kenji dashed at the ghoul who had seemingly purposely let his guard down. He showed no hesitation and quick went for a decapitating blow on the monster who had accepted his fait. Then Kenji realized it was a diversion, while he was going for the vulnerable big one the other quickly got to his feet and intercepted Kenji by grabbing him by neck; and before he could attempt to strike either one the big one delivered an almost crippling haymaker to his stomach causing him to drop his sword. Kenji gets to his feet and throws two quick straight punches that were easily dodged by the big one; Kenji was indeed fast but nevertheless lacked in the field of Taijutsu. At the same time Kenji also struck the other with a side kick that knocked him to the ground. This made him vulnerable and once again the colossal ghoul compared to his counterparts hit Kenji with a ferocious uppercut that floored the inexperienced genin. While on the ground Kenji kicked the savage in his knee bringing him to the ground as well. In a fluent spinning motion Kenji scooped up his sword and plunged it into the fallen bandit eliminating his existence. The last one left was trying to squirm away like a snake. Kenji immobilized the survivor, and waited for supporting police to transport him to jail.

As Kenji waited, his sword hung to his side in a slouched manner, his head was down, as he was surrounded by the monsters he had slain. As the night crept on he slowly raised his head and gazed at the moon. Hoping it would provide some solace. This night was Kenji’s final step into shinobi hood, always so sure of his decision to be a ninja. At this very moment he solidified his way of the shinobi; and from this point on would apply himself like never before.
