Winner's Semifinals - Ting vs. Sakamoto TF2a3bh

Taking place at the historic Blossoming Pillars Stadium (Jūhi Dōhyō), the final rounds of the Exams forego the tricks and surprises of earlier, making way for an arena that is both iconic and neutral. In spite of a modest 25m radius, this arena is no less grand than those which preceded it, boasting stands that raise high above for observers to watch the anticipated final matches and a fighting zone where legendary heroes and Kage once fought. A dusty circle surrounded by sparse shrubs and a high wall encloses combatants, who enter from opposite ends of the arena, the crowd roars, the Chūnin Exams draw to a close.

With each bout before this won and the repeat memories of sweat stinging her eyes, Ting would enter into the seemingly ordinary arena with her eyes on the horizon. Everything was set to conclude here. The end was nigh and the collective results of Ting’s actions were coming to fruition right here and now. Her fists were clenched, black leather gloves each baring their “teeth” as she stepped forward into the arena. She had a more visually pleasing body suit on beneath her forest green blazer, the latex squeezing tightly against her form - fitted perfectly for maximum mobility. On the sides were symmetrical openings in the latex on either side of her lower back.

The crowd clearly enjoyed the sight as Ting pulled off her cardigan and held it up as she walked toward the center of the arena - stopping five meters from the center to await the proctor and commencement of the match. Her eyes darted about, waiting to see what her opponent would look like. It was only certain that they were a strong competitor, having made it to the semi-finals just as she had. Her mind was a storm for but a moment until she took a deep breath briught herseld into focus. This was the path she had paved with her own hands. She would prevail or fail all on her own accord. And yet, that was invigorating. Once again, as she had done for so long as a young girl, Ting was holding her own. The chains and bondage of addiction were gone. Freedom tasted so sweet.

On her person, ten glass senbon in two small dark pouches strapped to her legs. Five holstered on each ankle, easily accessible to her in the heat of battle. Her single kunai and the few less potent senbon were contained within another black pouch upon her hip. The dark leather spiked gauntlets hugged her fists as she flexed her fingers, cracking them each one at a time as she awaited her opponents visage. She was perhaps a few moments early, so any impatience was foolish on her part. It was moreso an underlying anxiety that made her feel slightly uneasy at the seconds of downtime which passed like a thick molasses.

Come.

'Semifinals huh?‘

After Sakamoto's outing, out and about the streets of Konohagakure, having completed his quests with the mysterious ninja just the other day, the feline was happy to finally be back and ready for anything. His sleep had been one of the best he had achieved in some time, resting deeply on the small bed in the chamber meant for entrants in the exam. The thought had crossed Sakamoto's mind to cheat in such a manner that he could observe the fights of his other competitors, or at least find records that would allow him to have the drop on them in the future. But the jonin that he knew protected them would have seen through even the immaculate disguise of the ninneko. the risk simply did not outweigh the reward... But the opponents that Sakakmoto had fought so far were respectable, the first was a Konoha ninja, one of his peers which he assumed was of a class that he had not seen before. While the other had been from the nation of Kirigakure, which had given Sakamoto a much closer run for his money, even though it seemed that they weren't the picture definition of calm under pressure, their tenacity had led them to wound Sakamoto with their last effort, teaching the feline a key lesson about hubris.

Now, however, the crowd cheered the name of the two combatants, as hype appeared to transform into a tangible substance that permeated the air around them, thick with excitement as the combat drew closer. The two fighters in the arena seemed to be favorites to win, and immediately, due to the swarm of familiar faces, it was immediately apparent that the two fighters in this round were both ninja from Konohagakure. Banners of support from impromptu fans billowed merrily in the wind as the fanatics raved as tension built. Sure enough the first of the two was called to the ring as the thundering applause grew to a fever pitch. It even buckled Sakamoto's sensitive ears for a moment prompting him to wince at the distraction. Whoever they were, they seemed to be well loved by the crowd... their battles must have been entertaining, though, now came turn for Sakamoto to enter the ring. For once he wasn't the one called in first, the chance of him being able to deceive his enemy with his appearance alone was nil, which made this decision a lot easier. So it was, that Sakamoto would move to enter the arena.

'And your second contender, also from the land of Konoha, SakaaaaMO-TO!!!'

The applause was more than thunderous, it was akin to an Armageddon of the senses, the shrill cry of every female spectator under the age of 25 went totally ballistic. Sakamoto physically cringed against the discomfort for a moment before he attempted to drown out the auditory apocalypse. He had half a mind to detonate seals under each of their seats, but, he had to admit, he did love the attention of his adoring public. Tail swaying in the wind behind him, coiled around the steel ring at the base of a Kunai at its tip as the house cat sized ninja casually swaggered into the arena. His amber-gold eyes like blazing suns visible against the shadow of the door he entered from, reflecting the light like mirrors to the soul long before his onyx cloaked fur could be seen. For a moment it was as if the shadow of the silhoueted archway were beding outwards, but soon enough the tar black cat took his first step into the open light, and he was able to observe his opponent.

'Another girl, young, potential psychological advantage noted.' Were the first thoughts that immediately came to mind as he casually approached the center of the arena. Slow enough to make as many observations as he could. There were a couple of pouches on her person, no armour. Fist weapons. She was a taijutsu user, or at least experienced enough in close combat to emphasize it with spiked weaponry that gauntlets could afford, but there was no accompanying weaponry on her feet. She was a boxer/brawler type. Sakamoto would have to be careful not to launch himself or be launched into the air. 10m from the center of the arena, Sakamoto would stop, cleaning himself behind the ears in the dusty arena before looking up to make eye contact with his ninja, 15m from his opponent while he would allow his tail to sway rhythmicly back and forth across the dust. Covering the one pawprint seal he had placed in it a couple feet back while simpultaniously making another four under his paws where he sat in case he needed to make a quick movement backward. Lastly, the usual two that were placed on top of his front two paws against his oil coloured fur, simply a matte pattern across the shimmering surface could barely be seen, but they were there should they be needed.

With a clear, deep but usual flat tone, the ninneko would speak to the ninja before him, affording some respect the competitor that had gotten this far, even as the announcement for the combat to begin had been sounded. "Before we begin..." he would exclaim boisterously, attempting to intercept any initial strike she would attempt. The crowd at hearing the feline's voice would silence, allowing it to echo across the notably smaller arena than his previous bouts. "I'd first like to acknowledge your skill in getting this far, you must be skilled. I hope the two of us have a noble contest." With that, Sakamoto would perform a small bow, followed by the systematic fawning of half of the female audience, whom he had just now converted to his supporters should they not have been already.

"May the best ninja win!"

With his final exclamation, he would crouch low, for the first time in the competition his fur would spike backward up on end and he would bear his teeth against his opponent in a silent hiss. Each of his quarter inch claws would expand and dig into the dirt while his front body dropped low and his hind legs braced behind him like a spring-board ready to pounce. Sakamoto meant business, and he wasn't about to settle for second best... Waiting a moment and nodding to affirm that the feline was ready, he would refrain from attempting to make the first strike, he would await his opponent to ready themselves also foreshadowing that the battle was about to begin. With a signal of any kind from his opponent, be it movement or otherwise, Sakamoto would activate the first of many jutsu to be set free in this combat. The one people had seen time and time again, and with this arena of limited size, against a melee focused opponent, it was simply too advantageous to pass up.

With a deep throated row, Sakamoto would call into existence the full ten of his duplicats in a semi-circle around himself, poofing into existence in a small translucent cloud of smoke which blew away in an instant. Each of them totally identical shadow clones of Sakamoto in form save for their many coloured scarfs that set them out as individual entities. From Sakamotos left to right, Orange, Yellow, purple, pink, green, blue, white, grey, black and finally the one that was a mix of them all. The tenth coming into existence as the tie died vagrant, sporting large galaxy patterned avitors with a backward facing baseball cap each of them tie died with every colour of the rainbow. Sakamoto still couldn't help but curse under his breath once again. One day he was going to eliminate that creature if it was the last thing he did. Tapping each of their tails with a spinning brush of his own they would fan out in their coloured pairs in different angles, the front four charging their opponent head-on, while two from each side arced in a 7.5m arc with their approach at an angle to flank their opponent as the final two, black and tie would circle 15m around the arena to attack her from behind.

Sakamoto following up the four at the front closely, as each of his cats, every 5m would place a seal upon the ground, as well as one each on their bandannas should Sakamoto wish to use them later. His opponent hopefully never noticing the sneaky plan that Sakamoto had put into action, and the hidden chakra stored within the body of grey who was flanking to his left.

There would never have been a time in which Ting could have had the foresight to expect a solitary black cat to walk through the doors meant for her semi-finalist opponent. As she kept her eyes trained upon the feline, she awaited the appearance of a trainer, an owner, a summoner. Anyone who could validate or verify that she was in fact not going to be fighting a literal cat called Sakamoto. The announcers had made it clear at least that her opponent was named such. She made a massive effort not to look dumbfounded, with some level of success. The phenomena one experienced the deeper they delved into shinobi life were unimaginable.

The red scarf which adorned his neck as the only thing that distinguished him from any cat along the alleyways and nooks of the market district. The sheen of his black fur was another of those features, rarely could you find any old street cat with such a healthy coat. The young woman would gather herself and meet his eyes with hers, holding a stalwart gaze as the announcement to commence combat sounded out across the arena. Her cells would be invigorated by chakra, signaling the beginnings of her Wound Erasure technique which would not likely be detected by the feline. He had stopped his approach fifteen meters from her, keeping just enough distance between them to make Ting wonder if he was being cautious with his spacing. It wasn’t a difficult thing to recognize of the azure haired kunoichi. The gloves really gave it away if her physique wasn’t enough. She would inhale carefully, the Seven Heavens Breathing technique bringing her physical abilities to a peak.

That was when he spoke to her, it was as though the hurricane of combat was just upon the horizon and this was the quiet before the storm. His voice came through to her, laced with sincerity and genuine respect. It was refreshing, far different than the way her prior matches had evolved, some of that her own doing and some of it th fault of her opponents. The clanless Ting would nod toward him with approval before she spoke.

I have to admit, I was shocked when I saw you walk through those double doors. You are not only extraordinary in your very being but in your abilities to have come this far. She would flash him a lighthearted smile, and return his bow as a sign of mutual respect.

The girls in the crowd may be swooned by your form, mister Sakamoto, but I can feel it in my core. You are not one to be underestimated. Let the best of us walk forward on behalf of the Hidden Leaf! She would exclaim with a tone of seriousness as she enveloped her legs in muscle fibers and burst forward in time with the maneuvering of her opponent and his ten color coded doppelgängers. She would charge forward at the top speed allowed to her via the techniques provided. As she would meet their forward charge, she would continue forward toward Sakamoto in his red scarf, activating her Chakra Reverse Pulse when they were all well within her reach, less than a meter away from her body.

Should the burst strike any of the duplicats, they would be immediately destroyed, and should the wave itself strike Sakamoto as intended, any jutsu he was currently maintaining would be thwarted. Immediately following her swift movement and string of actions she would prepare herself defensively for any retaliation her opponent would have thrown back.

'And the battle began‘

Sakamoto would rush towards his opponent, who, the second they made their attack towards him, the primal mind of the feline would begin to consider the motive for doing so. His last opponent in the exams was similarly extremely confident when it came to attempting to disperse Sakamoto's Duplicats, they had rushed forward in a similar manner before creating an earthquake that had destroyed all of the felines bar a paultry couple in a single blast. Sakamoto was prepared for this, and already had the pawprint sealed in hand in order to counteract the first jutsu that his opponent intended to use, and hopefully shoot it right back point blanc in their face. Although, they were a taijutsu user, there was no telling what the ninja was capable of within that close a range. This was going to be risky, but without great risks, great rewards would never see the light of day. And so, a soft and seductive meow preparing in Sakamoto's throat as the 4 cats beyond him would break off slightly to attack from the kunoichis left and right, giving Sakamoto a clear shot to the center with his slickstream approach.

At first, there would be no technique, the 4 cats in front of Sakamoto would make their attacking run. Two of them would leap for their opponent, trained hunters attempting to bring down their quarry. each of them would attempt a strike to either side if their opponent's neck and shoulders, drawing focus up high with the high powered leaps as the other two would hope to race past their opponent's feet. Hoping to hook their claws into the back of their opponent's achilles tendon and let it snap like a rubber band that had been drawn too tight before whipping apart with the tension as it broke. All ensuring that their full paws would be placed on their opponent's skin with the strikes as they would intend to dismount, their attacks meeting flesh as Ting activated his technique only when Sakamoto was within the 1m range of Ting himself who attempted to force through the barricade. The attacks would leave marks across the skin of the ninja, blood exploding from the surface, but to the dismay of Sakamoto in that instant, he could already see the beginnings of the healing technique.. they had been defended against!

No later than this the wave would erupt from Ting, swallowing the chakra of the 4 cats that were already in contact with her, evaporating them in an instant while they were still in contact with the ninja in a cloud of smoke as they were finally dispersed. In the time it took for his opponent to well up the chakra for the technique and force it out of themselves, Sakamoto had already risen his paw and began to let out his seductively sweet meow. The chakra flowing from his right paw would entangle with the wave which swept out from the kunoichi before being sucked back into the seal. Sakamoto's remaining 6 cats would hold back their assault for a moment as Ting would no doubt continue her onslaught. With a sudden burst, and a sound like shattering glass, the seal that Sakamoto held in his right paw would break and release the wave of chakra within it in the same state that it had been sealed, but this time, from the perspective of Sakamoto, not his opponent, and at such close range the chance of total avoidance was minimal as the ninja had intended to collide with Sakamoto at such a speed, she was already on top of him when the detonation of the technique went live.

Sakamoto would not be waiting around to see the effects of the blast, he was gone. Already having substatuted with the Grey feline that had been on the fringes, needing a little more time to catch up with the speedy frontal assault of the ninja who had attacked them. Though should the wave had been successful, Sakamoto only had perception of one attack he would be able to target and nullify to the best of his ability. whatever had annuled his attacks. With that gone, the grey cat that had appeared before the ninja would roll forward from the pluming smoke, whipping its tail up for her opponent's femoral artery in the midst of the confusion and hopefully between her legs to get out on the other side, using her paws as she rolled to place yet another pawprint on the ground before her as her 5 other allies would seek to collapse from all around her. All while in the distance a single voice could be heard shouting over them all.

"NEKOJUTSU! MEOWNFIELD!" In a flash, the pawprints that had been placed on sakamoto and each of the other 6 cats would light up and become expended all at once as he increased the range of his reverse decapitating wind to encircle all of his remaining cats as well as himself in place of merely a single target. The multiplying nature of the cat-style was its true strength. With each of the 5 cats hoping to enter within 2 meters of their opponent, they would each begin to unleash a myriad of chaotic slashes for their enemy from almost every angle. While Grey would continue with his roll sending a further bladed wind projectile to cut deeply into their opponent, an attack which at a higher rank would have divided the ninja in a perfectly straight line from navel to nose. All while Sakamoto sat back in relative comfort, backing off so he could allow himself to react to what was going on.

Though the pawprints that the cat's had placed on their target had been erased with the first pulse of energy that had expanded outwards. The 4 would be placed on the ninja's 2 shoulders and legs following the pulse would not have, due to the wave eliminating the medical technique and nullifying its potential well before it would have reached those specific extremities, and at most, assuming one was the exact first point of impact of the wave, it would only be one of the 4 that were eliminated... So much potential had just been thrown into the hands of Sakamoto... all he had to do... was use it!

As the fruits of her labor seemed to come to pass, the young woman would find them relatively sour. She felt the slices and cuts of the attacking cats near her Achilles tendon’s and her neck, her body reacting with pain as the thin sharp claws did across their marks. Even so, the damage would be erased by her defensive technique and her chakra reverse pulse would destroy her cloned attackers and seek her opponent at a range Ting thought it impossible to avoid. She was mistaken. A meow would sound out through the air as she watched her pulse absorbed into a seal, only to be released back st her at point blank range. When she felt the light bruises scatter across her body and the light pang of soreness did not cease, she knew what had occurred and realized the severity of her situation.

As she looked downward in that instant following she would realize that her opponent was gone. It was all happening too quickly and she was being collapsed on from all angles. There was only one instinctual solution to this problem and it would occur so instantaneously that not only would the attempted maneuver of the grey cat be completely nullified, all of the collapsing attackers would be repulsed three meters away from Ting before they could be made useful by Sakamoto. Interrupting his narrated attack, Ting would let out a hardy shout - enough to leave her unable to speak. At that same moment, her cells would begin to divide quickly once again and she would sprout infinitely useful tendrils from her lower back.

She would spring herself toward her opponent with two of the tendrils slamming the ground at an angle as she made use of her agility to further increase the speed of her maneuver. As she entered within five meters of the Sakamoto at a blinding speed - elapsing not even a full second - she would allow her left foot to slam into the ground, sending out her Sunder Spire Technique as four muscular formations would swing inward toward her opponent from both sides, seeking to box him in from every angle. Should Sunder Spire reach its mark, it would launch the cat into the air five meters and back toward Ting at an angle, bringing him to her tentacles even more quickly. Ting would watch carefully for what he would do as an attempt at evasion, enhancing the tendril closest to his chosen path with the Agezuki technique to deliver a blindingly fast strike to the center of his mass, aiming to lay waste to the cat and shatter his small, frail bones.

'So fast!‘

Sakamoto's attack had been foiled, for the most part, his cats were blasted back out of range, but took up a stance to be able to deal with their opponent again. Each of them would let off hisses as they were knocked back by the jutsu, not delivering damage thereby not dispersing their forms. Each of them would reconstitute and face down their enemy as she would sprout wings of flesh in the form of tendrils that would splay outward a massive distance for each of them. It was a terrifying jutsu to behold and one that the feline could not permit to exist for a moment longer... They would expand as the ninja would hope to charge, and Sakamoto finally believed he had cottoned onto the tactic that this ninja seemed to employ. They were a head-first attacker, but not one that was an idiot. They empowered themselves with defensive techniques enough to ensure their safety while also preparing an almost unbeatably potent offense in return. It was a strong tactic, this much was true, but it was not without its flaws. Using so many jutsu would tax their reserves, there were surely lynchpins of their offense which could be struck in order to render the strategy almost useless.

Sakamoto's interception was to be swift if it was to be effective, no sooner than the tendrils were summoned the feline would activate the first of the four seals which had been successfully placed on his opponent by the death of his noble cats while they were in contact with them. The chakra which surrounded and empowered the tendrils would be drawn into one of the seals draining them of their strength and essence entirely before the blast from the broken lock would be released at the will of sakamoto. The D rank strength blast from the jutsu placed directly on the top right of the female ninja, while the blast that eminated from it on her right would cascade the entire right side of her body with the bruises it'd cause and launching her to the left, although it would no doubt be absorbed by the healing jutsu, but still launching Ting 2m in the given direction dut to the fact such defences wouldn't reduce such knockback. Hoping to string this potent series of techniques together, and capitalizing on the other three seals that had been placed on his opponent.

Moments before she would hit the earth however, the combo would continue, a powerful chakra would well through one of the remaining two seals, chakra flowing through the earth at its base. Fangs of earth would erupt from the ground to cradle the ninja 1.5m from the 2m blast as they were projected to intercept. each fo the fangs would hope to tear through her body, deeply enough to rupture and immobalize with their thorns. In a 5m radii the vicious spikes would jettison out of the earth at erratic angles hoping to pierce the ninja with wounds that even the defensive jutsu upon him would be unable to recover thanks to the fact it had already recovered much of the wounds from the blast that had sounded off mere moments before. Sakamoto was a trap ninja, and Ting had already fallen deep into the trap that had been set for her. No sooner than the spikes had erupted, the six felines that Sakamoto would have summoned would hope to be upon her, leaping high and over the spikes that pinned their victim to collapse down with their terrifying auras, letting out downward slashes to project a single blast downwards before they would hope to latch onto her all over her body and turn the female kunoichi into a scratching post!

Sakamoto was no fool however, he would dart to a side, this battle was likely still not over, he had underestimated one opponent before and almost all of his defensive seals had been used at this point. He would have to hope that by the time that his chance came again he would be able to renew one. But for now, this pile-on would be the best he could hope for. The pinning spires of earth, the slashing auras which surrounded the six attackers and their almost expert co-ordination alongside the projectiles they fired downwards into the mixture. Like this, the superior movement of the opponent would matter for nothing... but all that weighed on the cats mind now was how to follow up. Surely there were other offensive jutsu in their arsenal, and Sakamoto was attempting to draw them out, have her spend more and more chakra in this bout while attempting to wound her and expend her reserves. It was a good enough tactic, and now that he had positioned himself another 20m away, one seal placed on the earth directly between her and him, covered over with the sand and dust 5m away from himself as he had used his tail to hastily to hide the track.

'come on Ting... show me what you're really made of...'

The pulled techniques have been modified and re-approved as follows.

Name: Nekojutsu: Jirai gijutsu | 猫遁: 地雷技術 - Cat Style: Meownfield Technique.
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: D-A
Type: Supplementary
Element: N/A
Range: N/A
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 1/2/3/4 Posts (Based on Rank)
Description: A technique wielded in tandem with the user's 'Cat Style' techniques. The user may replicate the effects of their technique from up to an additional 2/3/4/5 pawprint seals, effectively increasing the number of subjects of a paired jutsu can effect depending on the rank of Meownfield technique used while increasing its range or radii effects if applicable to the maximum value of the rank of Meownfield used but reducing the area of effect from each source by a fraction equal to the number of alternate seals it has been activated from (Ie, a 30m radii jutsu activated from 3 pawprints will reduce its range to 1/3 its original amount, 10m, from each source). Finally, the user may pay increments of 5 additional chakra to extend this effect to an additional pawprint seal after the initial amount afforded by this technique is used should the user wish to further extend the effect but fractioning its radius further between them by an even fraction as before. These replicated effects do not interact as additional techniques, simply as a range extension of the parent technique so that it may target multiple subjects or attack from alternate angles. Ranges extended this way cannot exceed the rank of Meownfield used at any given time.

Name: Nekojutsu: Tegaki kigō | 猫遁: 手書き記号 - Cat Style: Art of Pawprint Seal
Canon/Custom: Custom
Rank: E
Type: Supplementary
Element: N/A
Range: Touch
Specialty: Fuinjutsu / Ninjutsu
Duration: Passive
Cooldown: N/A
Description: Due to Sakamoto's unique physiology, he has devised an equally unique method for preparing his sealing formula to benefit his ninutsu. By using this method, he can place a generic Fuuinjutsu symbol at the cost of -5 chakra. Each seal has a trace amount of chakra within it and resembles his paw-print on any surface he makes contact with and awaits its activation. When activated the chakra within the seal is released and acts as a suitable catalyst for any of Sakamoto's 'Cat Style' ninjutsu techniques, allowing them to be activated from that point as though it were the user, but only at a range equal to the rank of the technique being activated from it. Other ninja who are capable of using 'cat style' techniques are, in theory able to hijack these seals for their own ends, due to their generic nature. When using these seals as catalysts for technniques, the distance a jutsu is cast from it is inclusive of its projectile range.

Winner's Semifinals - Ting vs. Sakamoto HnvrgK0

With the interruption of her maneuver brought on by the dissipation of her tendrils into a fine blood mist, Ting would look up with surprise only to feel a sharp burst of pressure at her right side, bruising her body and forcing her to the left. She wasn’t going to be ragdolled like some toy. Ting would utilize her aerodynamics technique to create a point of leverage after flying less than a meter to the left, bounding off of the air itself at her maximum speed, hearing the splintering of the earth just beneath her feet as she was suspended in the air for only a fraction of a second. She wasn’t going to wait to see what was about to strike her from below. She would utilize the Windhoek technique, further increasing her forward momentum and shattering through the large spikes which emerged from below.

She thrust her hands forward, stretching them at high speeds toward her target before he had the ability to dash away once again. Having interrupted the core of his strategy as it unfolded, he would not have yet decided to make his retreat and the stretching of her arms combined with the twenty meter per second forward momentum of her body with all of her enhancing techniques applied would be absurdly quick. Her left hand would swing, outstretched ten meters, aiming the Agezuki strike at the feline. Her right arm would extend with the Crackle technique. The former of the two strikes would ultimately round off at forty five meters per second, while the latter would arrive at fifty five meters per second.

Given that this assault would come during a gap in the felines plot, it was likely that it would lack the instantaneous decision making required to evade the onslaught. Should either of the outstretched limbs strike Sakamoto, his body would be immediately broken wherever contact was made. The power of either strike combined with the frailty of his frame made this extremely deadly for him. The addition of Ting’s spiked gloves added the possibility for the cat to be entirely skewered by the young kunoichi. Having full control of the direction and momentum of her outstretched limbs, Ting would pilot them however she needed to in order to steer them into Sakamoto should he attempt to dodge.

It was all coming down to the wire, fate was going to have this end one way or another. By this point, Ting was exhausted mentally and physically. She had grown tired of the constant competitive energy and was prepared for this to end however it was fated to.

'CAUGHT!‘

Sakamoto wasn't prepared for such a quick escape, though his opponent seemed to slow in the air for a moment as they redirected their force. The spikes around them would erect, slamming into their defenses and shattering over their body like it was nothing. Sakamoto didn't like this, he didn't like it one bit. She was too fast, too fast for Sakamoto to deal with in a fair one on one fight, too fast for anyone to have to deal with in this kind of scenario. But there were always methods to slow people down and bring them down to earth... Which bought to mind yet another plan of attack. Sakamoto had landed hits in this battle, albeit they had been healed and dealt with, they were expending chakra at an alarming rate. Sakamoto had spent a little more than he had expected also. But this wasn't the end for the feline yet, many of his jutsu were coming off their cooldowns and his enemy had spent more chakra on average in their burst strategy than he had in total. Just a little longer, and he would have starved them of their ridiculous acceleration advantage.

As Sakamoto's opponent would be airborne for that moment he would have prepared using his cat like senses to feel out the two remaining paw-prints on the ninja's body as she would burst in the direction of Sakamoto. Knowing full well that Sakamoto would barely be able to avoid such a rush, the moment her foot touched the ground and bound off in his direction at full speed he would begin to sink into the earth at the speed that gravity would allow. But to suppliment this, Fuuton would shatter from the seal that was on her person with a smirk from the sinister cat. Impact with the sphere as it would be enacted would reduce the momentum of the ninja from a collossal 80 kilometer per hour speeds to zero 'instantly.' Though the sphere would only cause minor bruising to the ninja, and would likely be soaked by the force of the medical jutsu that was still in place to heal her wounds. The internal whiplash of the sudden halt could potentially be tremendous even for a seasoned ninja. Though her body would stop, her arms would continue to extend, slowed somewhat due to the lack of her forward momentum, It would allow Sakamoto the brief moment required to allow himself to slip under the skin of the earth as all six of his duplicats, chasing after the ninja would leap into the floating vacuum levitating off the ground and attempt to rip their opponent to shreds from all sides. Mostly leveling blows at her torso and attempting to come into physical contact with her before the coup de graces that was to come.

If Sakamoto was able to place 6 more seals on her, while she was temporarily immobilized, it would certify victory for the cat.

Even as he slipped into the folds of the earth, and the stretching arms of his opponent would miss by little more than a hair, the spiked gauntlets trimming some of Sakamoto's fur with their powerful technique imbued within them too close to call. The feline would have to time this particular interaction perfectly. The auras the duplicats wielded on their person were potent at a range to be sure, but upon physical contact with the aura that surrounded them, it would be all the more devastating. As the first one would come into contact with the defensive technique, it would buckle, but still be more than capable of sustaining her healing factor against the rapid onslaught of cuts and lacerations. The suction of the technique would be potent, and without the means for Saka's opponent to run on firm ground, there would be little they could accomplish stranded half a meter in the air.

Finally, erupting from the earth moments after Sakamoto's swarm engaged in a final ditch effort to overwhelm their momentarily stilled opponent, Sakamoto would perform a single half hand-sign. Focusing on the wind bubble that surrounded them all. Pooling his chakra into it and forcing the vortex to escalate, morphing the somewhat initial docile technique into something more terrifying. He'd sacrifice all of his clones. Hopefully creating more seals upon the surface of his opponent's skin and begin the repeat of the cyclical waltz they had been stepping to so far this entire time. With a deafining cry, after the activation technique, Sakamoto would shout in no uncertain terms. "NEKOJUTSU! SHINKU BAKUDAN!" As the crushing force of the whirling death orb would hope to crush everything within it...

Whatever the case, this battle was nearing its end.

Winner's Semifinals - Ting vs. Sakamoto HnvrgK0

It was the force of her own forward momentum which would begin the series of catastrophic events which spelled out doom for the kunoichi. A seal upon her arm would burst, a large and powerful orb of pressure would bring her incredibly forward momentum to nothing in only an instant. The painful bruising which swept over her would be healed but her cellular division could do nothing to cushion her from the result of such a sudden halt. She would crash to her knees, vomiting up whatever remained of the bottle of water she had drank earlier that morning. She was lucky she hadn’t eaten.

With the duplicats coming down on her in this vulnerable state, her arms would only retract fully in time to slam a fist into one of the assailants to her left. The remaining five would claw and strike at her. It was horribly painful, and her strength allowed by Seven Heavens Breathing had all but worn down as she struck at the creatures with all of her power. Her torso and arms were covered in claw marks as she batted away each attacker until they were all dispersed. Only then would she feel the next part of the combination, a crushing vortex of wind would encapsulate her and being caught within it without hope to escape, Ting would close her eyes and smile just before her consciousness turned off like a lightswitch. It was over. She didn’t have to fight anymore, at least not today. The arena around would roar in excitement, a mix of gasps and high energy screams and shouts as the young woman was crushed within the technique. Before irreversible damage could be received, the in-duty proctor would rush in, deactivating the technique and carrying Ting’s slumped form out of the arena. The winner was clear.

As she lay in that null zone of unconsciousness, her mind would wander. What would her father say if he had seen that. She didn’t win. He always said she wouldn’t make anything of herself. Would he laugh in triumph? Would her mother peak out from within her room to see her daughter crushed in competition? Would Joe carry the torch of their promise forward where she had fallen short? Where was Takao? Had he seen her fall? Had the famed Mitsuhide been watching her in his disguise up above with shame? Shame. That’s what it was. A foul feeling had washed over her. She knew well that making it this far was an achievement, but for someone who would be chasing some unreachable redemption for the rest of her life, it was not enough. Nothing ever could have been.

There was so much about the fateful night before these exams began that Ting had never had a chance to piece together. All she knew was that she could not shake the visage of the Hokage presumed dead long ago. He was watching over his village all of these years later, his identity shrouded and overwritten for one reason or another. It would all become clear to her some day. Some day, but not today. Today she would rest, because there was no need to fight.

'The final assault met its mark...‘

Sakamoto could feel the harrowing combination of strikes come into contact with his opponent as his vortex chain - wind bomb combination once again proved to be one of the most powerful jutsu combinations in the felines' arsenal, rendering his opponent unconscious, but not without pushing Sakamoto to his limit when it came to his ability to process information. So much in this exam cycle had been new and exciting, though it seemed that opponents in these exams fit into a series of categories when it came to fighting styles, he would have to be ready for other opponents who were as exceedingly high mobility as this one, however, that was a tale for another time. The crowd it seemed had turned in Sakamoto's favor, playing for their excitement, and it seemed that the fact he was adorable to the eye had allowed him to become somewhat of a celebrity favorite to win these exams, at least amongst the female spectator population who didn't already have a horse in the race.

He would bow to his worthy opponent before making his way out of the arena for his debriefing, once again he would be faced with the wait for a day to see his next opponent. It would be the finals for the winners bracket, so he would be faced up with an enemy that in theory would equal himself, while the true final, at the end of the combined brackets, would see the favorite go up against the underdog who had already lost one bout in the exams for one final shot at redemption. Sakamoto could not help but think that there was a very real chance that ninja might be ting again. The thought of which brought a smile to his lips. If he had to put his opponent down a second time, he would, and he would do so with even more finesse. While he felt like he had seen the heart of his enemies strategy, the world hadn't even begun to experience the kind of combat that Sakamoto could bring to an arena. There were flaws in his technique that needed to be fixed, and with those changes, he would become an even more powerful opponent by the time so much as the next bout came along.

'But for now, it was time to recover'

Smoked fish awaited Sakamoto back in his room, enough to bring the feline to salivation as he would almost pounce upon it, only to find that the fish in question was none other than the currently spawning Konoha Trout. A cold shudder went through his body as he recalled the monstrous fish that had slapped him across a field during one of his angst-filled lulls. A memory that seemed to single-handedly halt any appetite that he had accumulated over the course of the combat. A realization that shocked even himself... Didn't this nation have any Salmon? Or Tuna? Something other than this titanic devil fish that seems to strike from the shadows at unsuspecting felines from wells as they drank and pondered the inner workings of ethics and the universe? Even now he wasn't sure that the flombayed quisine wasn't following him with its beedy little eyes.

Sakamoto would shudder... no, he had to get out of here and have something decent to consume. Taking to the fleet he would be out of the house in no time, walking the streets after the curfew had been put in place, attempting to look once again for the mysterious ninja that had taken him under his wing, for now, the mysterious callsign 'songbird.' But it seemed the ninja was nowhere to be found, so, taking to the streets and followed by a small horde of Konohagakure's stray neighborhood cats, as well as Xiao that seemed to keep her distance hovering in the skies above him. He would be on the prowl for whatever delicious morsel that came his way, eventually stemming from a sushi vendor that seemed to have been following the exams, recognizing Sakamoto and feeding him and his small cohort by proxy with what had failed to be eaten by the end of the day, sans any Konoha Trout that seemed to be attached to the vendor.

Sure enough the two of them began to talk, and stories shared with Sake in small bowls had been handed out to the now intoxicated street cats, as fishermen tails of the great bandits that Sakamoto used to be the head of, a mysterious swordsman who had hunted them down through the lands of Suna, eliminating them one by one with his skill until the great battle of the Inahama plains came to pass, their fortress under siege as the would be Ronin came to blows with the heavy hitters of his gang. Bandits that had been known across the rolling seas for their brutality and fervor, only to be systematically eliminated by the warrior from a far away land. It took the destruction of the entire compound to eliminate the threat, in a Phyrric victory that Sakamoto would remember till the day he died... but it was the words of the dying samurai that had pursuaded him to make his way to Konoha in an attempt to build a new life, though it would be away from the City of Heaven which he had deserted in the mountains... there was no love lost between him and the traditional Ninneko of the village.

The wise old man nodded thoughtfully refilling Sakamoto's bowl which he would happily revel in lapping out of until it was drained of its contents... becoming only more drunk as the night went on. "It would seem you've been through a lot and come out the other side, you're looking for redemption and think you can find it here... well little kitty, I think you came to the right place. People like cats here in Konoha." The merchant would reply merrily, drunk as any of the cats were as they meowed and lapped their Sake bowls in the streets around the pop-up store. "What you need is to find someone, a good friend who gets you, just one, then I think you'll know what it feels like!" Sakamoto would scoff at the thought, exclaiming that he didn't do the whole best buds thing but the Vendor waved it away.

"Nonsense! 'hic' you just haven't found the right person yet, tells ya what, I bet in the finals you find someone right? I'll bet you one weeks Salmon you find one. So, do your best, and if you don't I'll feed you and all your friends for a week." Sakamoto reluctantly agreed, drunk as he was he would laugh and call the beggar his friend, hugging up to him before finally passing out...

Sakamoto would wake up back in his room for the Chunin exams, only a few hours before his next battle was about to begin, a tea of some kind poured into a bowl in front of him with a note indicating for him to drink it in order to feel better. Then, as if on call, the hangover would kick in... like a good soldier, groaning at the harrowing pain of his condition like a pathetic house cat taking a trip to the vet, he lapped up every last drop, then with food in his belly, he could feel the horror melt away. The concoction was bitter, though it did the trick, the only sign of whom seemed to have supported it, a clawprint on the corner of the note.

''I'm not gonna live this down for a while, am I Xiao..?''
