Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho 1lyr3oO

Located in the southwest areas of the Land of Fire, these lowlands are inundated with rain, down to the soil being soaked. The arena is a sort of labyrinth of waterlogged ground interspersed with meter-deep water. The water makes running impossible while even partially submerged, and the land proves little better as a foothold; the slick mud comprising the embankments causes anyone moving above 10m/s on them to move 5m forward uncontrollably. Unlike standing on the surface of the water, Supernatural Walking Practice has little bearing on the shifting semi-solid mud.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

The second round of the exams were upon him and N'Jobu was rested up from his previous match which was surely a close contest. He knew he would need to be sharper and more focused as the exams went on so he cleared his mind of distractions and focused on the task at hand, beating his next opponent. He had arrived at the arena where his next match was supposed to begin relatively soon. He could hear the crowd livening up as the time until the match counted down with their roars of excitement increasing in strength through the doors in front of him to enter the battlefield. He checked his gear one last time, ensuring his gauntlets were in functioning order and his bow was ready to go. "Ready for round two S'Yan?" he asked his companion who stood upon his shoulder as usual. S'Yan nodded and let out a small battle cry as the two hyped themselves up for the match.  In what seemed like a instant, the announcer came onto the stadium's speakers and began to shout, "Aburame N'Jobu vs Seiker Taiho...Begin in 5..." The crowd burst into a deafening roar as the countdown continued. "4!...3!...2!...1! BEGIN!" The doors in front of him swung open to reveal a waterlogged labyrinth of mud, water, and patches of land in random formation.

This area was certainly much better suited to his style of fighting as he could lay traps quite easily without them being noticed by his opponents. The sight lines were relatively clear as well, with an exception of some trees blocking each combatants view of the other out of the starting gate, unlike his last fight with the bothersome grass. He felt relatively comfortable in this setting as he made his way forward onto the battlefield. Realizing the ground was relatively unstable and there was quite a bit of water to slow him down, he jumped from patch to patch until arriving upon a solid slab of land about 20m in front of him. He decided he would set up here and wait for his opponent to come to him. He was in no rush and wasn't going to try and rush to get a victory. He understood that rushing often leads to mistakes, and a mistake at this point could be the difference between moving on and being eliminated. Given the distance between him and where his opponent would be, he had plenty of time to think up a strategy before his opponent would be able to get to him, especially given the unstable terrain. As a precaution however, he sent off about 50 of his beetles to scout the terrain and check for his opponents location. Given they could fly, the terrain would serve no impediment to them. Given N'Jobu's hive, this task wouldn't strain his reserves in the slightest. Even if his opponent managed to knock a few down, there were plenty enough to scout the area for him and tell him everything he needed to know. In his scouts, he ordered a couple of the female beetles to tag his opponent when they found him so that he could track his opponent should they try to do something sneaky like use clones or hide in a mist. After about a minute or so, his scouts would return to him and report back their findings which would hopefully give him a significant tactical advantage.

The nervous tick that had accompanied Taiho at the start of his first match seemed to almost return full force. The rhythmic tapping of his feet on the ceramic tile synced perfectly with the constant pounding of his heartbeat. He already felt himself sweating as his mind ran through and crossed out various ideas, theories and scenarios that the next thirty minutes could possibly bring. He wasn’t sure of much about his opponent considering he was still not very well versed in who or what the clans in Konoha were and considering he had spent the very little downtime between fights spending time with Umeko and goofing off with Kizmaru on missions, well... he didn’t do much research. And thus he was nervous.

Was his arena like the one before? He hoped not. Collapsing to an unknowing pit to his almost certain doom definitely ranked up there with ways to die a horrible screaming death, not to mention he tore up his rather beautiful dress. Another thing to consider was whether or not his opponent would be like last time. He was certain that ninjutsu users were far more prevalent and thus more likely to be in or around the exams considering ninjutsu was apparently the primary draw of shinobi. It was something that Taiho wished he could perform but understood that due to his own lack of knowledge as well as his people’s ability to mould chakra, anything outside of his weapons and taijutsu would likely be well out of his reach. That wasn’t to say that he couldn’t study and try to develop ways to mimic or counter these methods, but he understood that trying to use themselves was almost impossible without proper training and expansion of his coils and tenketsu.

Bouncing on his feet lightly to get some blood flowing through his veins, he attempted to tune out the roaring of the crowd around him. It seemed that once again his life had been put in the spotlight, and while stealth wasn’t necessary his forte nor his focus, being the general focus of anyone’s attention still made him slightly more uncomfortable than he would like. Of course he understood why he was the focus, this being the Chuunin Exams and all, but it didn’t make him feel any better that he was going to be once again engaging in Cock fighting for the amusement and entertainment of hundreds to maybe thousands of people. His movements were interrupted at the sound of the announcer giving the countdown, the roar of the crowd growing with each decreasing integral as the gate before him began to rise and sunlight poured in. It seemed it was time for him to finally take center stage, it was time for him to finally fight.

Taking a step out onto the mossy ground, the blonde haired, blue eyed young man couldn’t possibly have been more annoyed. The marshy landscape definitely not doing him any favors as he instinctively began to use the supernatural walking practice just to avoid sinking into the slick and sticky mud and potentially being dragged underneath into some sort of trick bog that the proctors had likely set up to torture him once again. His cute feminine visage twisted itself into instant distaste and he honestly could not express just how much bodily harm he wished upon whoever had designed this to be a decent location to host a battle. Of course he once again understood its purpose as well as why it was chosen. Geography dictated that occasionally a shinobi would have to change landscapes and being able to adapt to, and thrive in various environmental stimuli was paramount to being a good shinobi, whether they liked it or not. As such he would not voice his discomfort or his distaste, but he would instead internalize and focus such attention on his opponent who also had entered the stadium at the same time as he did.

The young man was vastly different from his first opponent, oddly garbed in far more clothing that concealed his movements and his intentions, the young man stood roughly around the same height as Taiho did. His frame hidden behind the concealing clothing and thus prevented him from getting a good gauge on his combat level or physical attributes. It honestly amazed Taiho that such a young warrior from this continent had managed to embrace the culture and fighting habits of their parent style so well as to conceal every feasible detail necessary outside of a certain few. As such Taiho merely accepted that he was walking into this blind and approached a starting position that would be roughly twenty meters from the exact center of the arena and fifty meters from his opponent who stopped far sooner. This habit confused Taiho greatly as he assumed that all of his opponents would stop a similar distance from himself or rather would meet him at a mutual location to initiate combat, but alas once again his opponent decided to exhibit skills and knowledge that Taiho himself could only vaguely understand. Years living in this continent did not give him their inherent knowledge of being tricky and hiding and scouting out their opponents. These weren’t things that Guardians needed to learn to thrive on the battlefield. The ability to adapt, and overwhelm their opponents was far more important to Guardians when it came time to instruct fresh recruits in their values.

As such seeing as his opponent had deigned it necessary to stop so far short of the starting position, Taiho had assumed that the battle would begin post haste. He had not noticed the beetles, nor did he care for their existence as they looked like any other insects flying about the arena. He would take it upon himself to enter into his forward striking stance, hands rising to frame both sides of his head and drawing attention to the spiked white gauntlets he wore. His left hand was slightly more forward than his right, but not too much as to denote any real importance. His right foot would slide back on the murky mud a shoulder widths distance causing him to rotate his body slightly to compensate. His black tank top with the Iwa symbol inked in white on the front and his black and brown chinese martial artist pants ruffled quietly with this movement as he worked to maintain some semblance of balance on the murky liquid like ground.

As he entered his stance he would instinctively activated his guardian aura. The thin film of chakra would likely go unnoticed by his opponent unless the boy was highly perceptive of chakra sources as it gave no visible nor audible cues that it even existed. It was necessary for him to protect himself against ranged opponents as shown from his fight yesterday. Even with his aura active the young man had definitely taken far more damage than he had liked and was still rather disappointed in his showing. Hopefully today would be much better as he patiently awaited the cue to begin the match.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

After settling upon a spot to set up his defensives, N'Jobu commanded S'Yan onto the ground near so that he could prepare a strategy for him. At this point, he could now see his enemy on the opposite side of the field. His opponent appeared to be a small blond headed shinobi whose gender he couldn't quite discern. He assumed it was a boy although the appearance was androgynous from what he could see.  They were dressed in a black shirt with the symbol of Iwagakure in white stitching along with brown pants and white gauntlets upon their wrists. They appeared to be taking up some kind of combat stance with hands floating infront of their face with legs in a balanced stance beneath them. "Likely a taijutsu specialist...better make sure they can't get close," he mumbled to himself as devised a game plan to deal with his opponent.

His beetles would quickly return from their scouting mission, informing him of the details of the arena  and confirming the tagging of his opponent with one of his female beetles. With this in mind, there would be almost nowhere his opponent could hide where he wouldn't be able to track them down. Never the less, given his positioning he should have a slight advantage as he took hold of one of the larger, more stable pieces of land which would require his opponent to come to him if they wished to attack. Although it had some muddy patches here and there, it was still relatively solid although he wouldn't try to move too fast on it given the mud could decide to give way should he try. After giving a quick nod, he whispered down to S'Yan , "You know what to do..." who immediately took the command and burrowed himself underground waiting to strike. "Just like last time..." he thought to himself as he commanded his insects into the ground and mud beneath him waiting to pounce on any prey foolish enough to come near. With his traps set, he could begin to set the stage for his offensive. He retrieved the bow from his back and began to draw back the string while aiming at his opponent. He hadn't knocked an arrow yet, but that wasn't entirely necessary at this point given his arsenal. This would surely at a minimum slightly confuse his enemy who was likely not aware of his capabilities. "Let's see what Iwa has to offer..." he muttered to himself as he waited for his opponent to make their move.

The sight of the insect swarm returning to his opponent alerted him to something being more off about his opponent than first glance. Of course he still had no idea what his opponent could or couldn’t do, but the possibility of being someone at least manipulated or controlled the local fauna seemed more and more likely with each passing moment. As the proctor gave the signal for the match to begin, Taiho would immediately take off towards his opponent. He would be careful with his movements and yet still dash off at his maximum speed for a good distance to at least attempt to close the rather wide gap his opponent established with his starting position. The mud audibly and physically splashed with each tap of his slippered feet, the viscous fluid like ground constantly reached out to grab him as he moved in an attempt to slow him down or cause him to lose footing. However Taiho’s speed was luckily enough not good enough to allow him to slip in such unstable terrain.

His opponent being around fifty meters away meant that Taiho had relatively a lot of ground to cover, the boy was more than five seconds away at Taiho’s current dashing speed and as such Taiho would work quickly to close that gap before his opponent had time to formulate some plan to keep him away like his previous opponent had. With his initial steps, Taiho was able to deduce that there were no traps in the stage this time, however the mud was clearly sticky enough that dropping his supernatural walking practice would be detrimental to his ability to move quickly and efficiently through it. This meant that he would either have to bring the fight to some of the more solid looking portions of earth, or continue potentially wasting chakra to maintain an even footing with the ground itself. These thoughts plagued him slightly as his focus on his opponent never wavered and his eyes attempted to gleam what little information they could from his movements.

The boy seemingly made no attempts to run or protect himself from Taiho, the pet mostly unseen due to having been ordered underground before Taiho himself had even been given a chance to properly observe him. This meant that Taiho had no idea that there were traps set to delay or potentially restrain him, nor did he know what his opponent was planning. This sort of setup annoyed Taiho slightly as his body moved fluidly from step to step, the seconds itching on as he would likely close the gap between them within three and a half seconds. If he was able to reach about ten meters from his opponent without his run being interrupted, the young man step into a slide with his next movement, his left foot planted solidly on the slick mud causing him to slide forward the next three meters as his right foot kicked back to dig into the mud slightly before kicking forward with a quick and smooth motion. The force of the kick would drag him forward another two meters as he prepared for the likelihood that his opponent would try to at least meet him in hand to hand combat. The end result would be Taiho placed about five meters away from N’Jobu unless he moved forward with an outstretched front kick in the direction of the stationary young man.

Simultaneously as he kicked forward however, Taiho had gathered his chakra properly into his right leg preparing it for the strike it was about to unleash, and as the foot made contact with the earth, it would unleash a sudden shockwave through the unstable earth at the young boy at a screaming pace of twenty five meters per second. The shockwave would be unleashed at a distance of around either meters from the boy from where his foot touched the dirt just before it was lifted into the kick itself. The shockwave gave no visible nor audible tells of its existence, and without chakra sensory his opponent would not have any reason to think it existed outside of the fact that Taiho had unleashed a kick early if he decided to move or not. The shockwave rippled just below the surface but far above the insects that his opponent had placed for him as a trap meaning neither the insects nor the pet would have any warning to Taiho’s technique being used as well. They would also not be affected by the technique considering they were likely still underground at the time of the technique being used.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

Still holding his bow in a fully drawn state, waiting for his opponent to make their move, he contemplated his next few steps which would be crucial to determine his chances of victory. One misstep now would certainly be costly. As he hoped, his opponent dashed forward towards him with what seemed to be almost reckless abandon across the swampy marshland upon which they were fighting. Within a few moments his opponent had reached the 15m threshold for which he would begin to spring his trap. He sent forth his insects under the ground at 15m/s forward towards his opponent. By the time they would intercept his opponent, they would be about 10m from where N'Jobu stood or at least so he thought.

On his command, the parasitic insects would burst through the soil and mud in an attempt to submerge his opponent into the mud. However, it appeared as though he had misjudged the distance and his opponents speed as his insects burst from the ground just slightly to slowly, allowing his opponent to bypass them. Thinking on his feet, he summoned his insects around his body to begin forming his chitin armor while also summing an arrow of insects to his draw hand which knocked itself to the drawn back string. With his sights on his opponent, he let loose arrow at his opponent at a blistering 35m/s which would arrive in just under a third of a second. His opponent also appeared to be launching some sort of attack as well. They had lifted their right leg from the ground as if to launch some sort of taijutsu based kick attack. He knew that if his opponent got to close it would spell trouble, so he needed to do everything within his power to kite his opponent and bait out attacks to force them into making mistakes. Just as his arrow made contact with his opponent he signaled for it to activate. Before he had time to assess the situation further, he felt the ground underneath him burst beneath in a wave of energy. His armor protected him from any real harm but the burst of energy certainly caught him off guard. To his surprise his attack had had a similar effect upon his opponent, who seemed to have some type of armor of his own as his tethering beetle arrow appeared to do nothing as well. The two genin were equally matched at this point, both preparing to make their next move approximately 5m from each other. N'Jobu knew his opponent would try to finish closing the gap and punish him with their taijutsu so he needed to disable him as quickly as possible. With S'Yan still laying in wait, he had a bit of a trick up his sleeve but this time he could not afford to miss. Should his opponent begin to close the gap, he would spring S'yan upon him which would help him secure a victory. With only 5m between them, the window would be tight but it was certainly possible, given S'Yan's position right next to N'Jobu.

The crowd seemed to reach maximum hype levels as the blonde haired genin closed the distance between him and his opponent. The two genin locked in a heavy battle of wits and speed as one attempted to close the distance between the two using a quick pace while the other simply attempted to catch his opponent and neutralize his opponents speed and close range advantage. On paper the two were evenly matched as they tried to outmaneuver the others strengths but it was clear as the Blonde haired genin neared his opponent that the battle would be picking up tempo and danger levels quickly.

The boys slide happened just in time as his opponent had apparently tried to catch him with some trapping technique, the young man avoiding it by a few meters without even knowing that he was that close to losing momentum. His eyes were locked on his opponent and now that he was closer and able to see his opponents drawn and cocked bow, knew that his battle was going to be far more fierce and trying than his previous one. His right hand would immediately charge with chakra was his foot let off the surge of chakra into the ground below, the step into the slide bringing up up to eight meters just before he let loose the shockwave of chakra into the ground underneath him. His opponent clearly was prepared however as just as he unleashed the shockwave, his opponent would let loose his own obsidian arrow at Taiho. Reacting instinctively, Taiho would punch forward towards the incoming arrow as quickly as he could which was extremely quickly due to him already having his guard up and ready to unleash punches. The jab was the prerequisite to unleash a barrier of chakra out from his fist that would clash with the arrow just before it hit him, the barrier barely being able to form as it left his fist just before it ran into the arrow itself. The barrier shattered instantly on contact with the arrow, but it did its purpose as it also dispersed the arrow before it could run into his barrier.

Apparently his opponent was also able to prepare himself for Taiho’s incoming jutsu as the shockwave of chakra erupted out of the ground beneath him. This however seemingly did nothing to his opponent who was now covered in a sort of blackish armor made of some unknown material to Taiho. The whole defensive set up surprised him as he finally reached the end of his slide at five meters. Reaching that point, he decided to slide into the stance he had held for most of the fight, only returning his outstretched hand back to its guarding position as he observed his opponent. He had a few ways he could maneuver or take down his opponent, but it seemed his opponent still had revealed very little of his own abilities outside of the one arrow that he had shot at Taiho. This perplexed the young blonde as unlike the previous battle where his opponent had unleashed and revealed as much as possible to take him down before the stage collapsed, this battle seemed more about what each combatant could hide from the other for as long as possible until it was necessary to actually use them. The strategic chess match of wits and speed had officially reached full fever pitch, and Taiho was determined to ride this wave all the way to the next round.

Staring down his opponent, he’d clench his hands, giving both boys a moment of rest as he contemplated speaking to his opponent, but considering both were locked in the heat of battle such thoughts and considerations could be considered weak or foolish. He had managed to at least curb his bloodlust for now as his oceanic blue eyes observed his opponents more reserved stance. His opponents pet was still unknown to Taiho and thus not something he considered would even be a threat as he finally gave himself a mental shrug and decided to go for it, this time rushing at his opponent with a much slower speed of about five meters per second. This meant that he would reach his opponent in exactly a second, but it wasn’t the speed that mattered so much as the punch that he would uncork from his forward left hand towards his opponents exposed upper chest area. The punch itself was imbued with chakra meant to disrupt and dispel barriers which would be useful for the armor that his opponent had now visibly equipped himself with. Should the punch land the armor would be dispelled upon contact allowing Taiho’s strike to deal full damage to his opponent without it being diminished in strength.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

As he expected, his opponent began to dash forward at him, this time considerably slower than his previous attempts as a likely plan to throw N'Jobu off. Estimating his speed, N'Jobu calculated his opponent would reach him in approximately 1 second, giving him enough time to spring S'Yan on his enemy when he had reached 4m from N'Jobu. When this occured, N'Jobu would trigger S'Yan to attack catching his opponent 2m from N'Jobu as S'Yan could travel the 5m required to catch his opponent in just under .33 seconds easily allowing him to ambush his opponent. Unless his opponent could find some way to dodge this unpredictable attack, they would be dragged under the ground and buried up to their head in the mud and earth beneath them.

If his opponent should fall for the trap, he would immediately pepper them in the face with his parasitic spear from his right hand which would reach his opponent in under .15 seconds leaving his opponent almost no time to react. Realizing he needed to get away from his opponent should they break free of their constraints, he retreated back the way he came towards the arena entrance heading towards the desecrated tree he had seen on the way in while signaling for S'Yan to follow suit. The pair dashed and leaped across the small chasms of mud and water at 7m/s, a comfortable pace which wouldn't strain him too much yet give him enough distance to operate safely from his opponent without worrying about falling into the water as he didn't want to waste chakra on the super natural walking practice if he didn't absolutely need to. Thinking on his feet, he noticed a rotten log large enough to perform the substitution technique with and stood next to it. Careful touching the log with his back foot, he infused it with chakra to prepare the technique should he need to use when if he traps failed in the future or needed to get out of a sticky situation. He drew his bow back aimed at where his opponent should still have been trapped, ready to fire off another jutsu to impede their progress once more.

The boys pace maintained itself, the lack of audible and visual warnings lulling him into a sense of security that he otherwise should have ignored. It seemed once again his opponent had laid the perfect trap in wake, and he would fall for it yet again. The moment his left foot touched the ground about two meters away from his opponent, the trap would be sprung, Taiho’s surprise at whatever it was grasping him, only exasperated the young man as he was drug down towards the ground before. The young man’s heart began to beat faster as his breath hitched his chest, the sight of victory rising above him as his opponent seemingly slowly gathered up the nearby insects into a spear to strike him. His dilated pupils seemed to shrink to infantesimal dots as his body naturally reacted to this spike in surprise and sudden anger at being denied his chance at victory. His opponent was too close to let him go now, the time for action was now, and his body understood that it was now or never, fight or flight, and if it didn’t react in kind, he would lose right then and there.

His chakra roiled and bubbled as he was dragged lower and lower, the sight of his opponent drawing back his hand to strike him with the offending weapon as his eyes dulled before flashing red just as the chakra began to burst forth from his chest. His hands reached out in defiance as the chakra blasted outwards in a growing sphere, the turmoil in his heart and the anger in his mind fueling the sudden reaction and consequent reaction that was now unleashed on the landscape around him in a guttural shout of anger and a pulse of chakra. The moment the bubble of chakra had been released, his opponent deigned it then to unleash his spear, but the bubble was far faster than the spear, pushing apart anything and everything at a blistering fifteen meters per second. The earth rumbled and tore itself apart as Taiho locked his eyes on his nearby opponent, hand still outstretched with throwing the spear as he tore himself forward at nine meters per second, pushing off the now cratered remains of his opponents trap. He was now a bit lower than the boy, having been drug most of the way underneath, but the crater itself formed a nice slope for him to dash up from as he rushed to close the distance before his opponent could turn and run. Unfortunately for him his opponent deemed it necessary to vacate the premises the moment that he had let go of the spear, already trying to flee, but between the growing bubble outstripping him and Taiho’s own speed in chasing him down, it would not take long for Taiho to overtake him before the boy could adequately prepare to defend against him.

The spear itself had shattered against the growing bubble of chakra, blunting its effects instantly, but that wasn’t the purpose as Taiho made sure his opponent was locked in his sights, due to his speed he would be able to at least get within a meter of his opponent before the boy could even get far or prepare his kawarimi. His body was glowing with chakra as his berserk aura raged on around him giving him a sort of godlike appearance as he gathered chakra into his forward left hand to perform three tasks before his opponent could once again escape his grasp. First would be the punch itself, striking along his opponents upper torso or back depending on which direction he was facing. The punch would push his burst chakra deep into his opponents body to disrupt and disperse the body armor he had grafted around himself. Second would be to connect himself to his opponent via an invisible strand of chakra that would allow him to pull his opponent off his feet and towards Taiho’s now extending right fist that was aimed at the boys open left or right side temple depending on the direction he was facing, the strike would also land across the eyes of the opponent regardless of the direction. If he was able to land the first punch, then the actions that followed would be unable to be interrupted due to the strength he now possessed over his opponent giving him the advantage needed to strike the boy once again with his spiked fists dealing heavy damage to the boy with both strikes and likely puncturning his chest or back with the spikes but also leaving him winded due to striking along the area of one of his lungs. The punch across the eye would tear skin all along the left or right side of his face as well as dislodge or pierce the boys left or right eye as well leaving it bleeding and bloody.

If he was not prevented from striking his opponent, then the actions that followed would leave him in the position to continuously strike the open side of his opponents face, repeatedly damaging, fracturing and breaking open his opponent while also dealing light to moderate brain damage over the course of each strike until he was stopped.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

As his spear of insects crashed in on his opponent, he planned to keep moving and keep his opponent at bay. For now, S’Yan had managed to grab onto his opponent and was dragging him into the depths below stalling his forward progress once more giving N’Jobu time to counter attack. As he had planned to do, he launched for his spear forth at his opponent who was sinking to his demise when the a mass of energy erupted from his opponent. The wave of chakra cleansed his target of the grasp of S’Yan who was sent back down into the ground from whence he came and emanated out quickly in a wave like dome crushing the ground around him. N’Jobu’s spear crashed into the dome of chakra, matching its strength but dissipating the spear itself as a result. Luckily he had begun his escape as his opponent retreating at 7m/s which would give him just enough time to launch one jutsu before his opponent who appeared to be once again moving at full speed would catch him. S’Yan would begin to dash after his target, albeit it significantly slower and would try to latch onto him once more should his opponent not notice him in his blind rage pursuit of N’Jobu. As it would take his opponent just under a quarter of a second to reach him, he would only be able to get a little over 1.5m from where he was standing in in such a short time and with his opponent closing on him, he wouldn’t be able to out run his opponent flat out with such a slow start, especially while moving backwards to keep his eye locked on target.

Thinking quickly, he cocked back and punched forward with his right hand while commanding his swarm along with his arm to launch one of his strongest jutsu, Insect Art: Blinding Venom Beetle Prison, which would immediately surround his opponent with venomous beetles intended to permanently blind whoever was unfortunate enough to be caught within it. Whether his opponent would actually suffer this fate didn’t really mean much to N’Jobu at this point, he simply needed to shut down his opponent’s surge in power as quickly as possible. As the attack moved at 25m/s, given the distance between them of just over 1.5m his attack would reach his opponent in blistering time of about .06 seconds which would be nearly impossible for anyone to avoid. The punch forward also served a dual purpose to activate his newly acquired gauntlets which were getting their first real combat test. He had prepared each gauntlet to house a separate type of ammunition, the right being blank feed and the left being the flare feed variety to give him some unique combat options should he need them. Given he punched with his right hand, he was launched off his feet backward 5m away from his opponent at 10m/s towards the large tree which he had noticed upon his entrance into the arena. Immediately after launching himself he followed up with a quick left jab which would also send out a flare feed type ammunition gem which would launch forward toward his opponent at 20m/s, exploding on impact which would buy him sometime and daze his opponent should they breach the prison.

As he flew through the air over the mud and an open patch of water, he spotted his landing zone about 5m from where he started in a stretch of mud and land leading back to the tree. As he approached his landing zone, he placed his foot down upon the mud which provided no traction as he slid uncontrollably toward the tree behind him. Without much time to brace or slow himself down, he slid recklessly backwards through the mud 5 more meters before jumping up as he approached the tree so that he could land on it and arrest his momentum. He bent his knees to absorb the shock of his momentum as he landed on the trunk of the tree which gave way slightly due to its rot, knocking it over about 30 degree which was enough for him to slightly balance upon for a second or two. He quickly placed his hand down upon the trunk of the tree to infuse it with some chakra to perform the substitution technique should he need it.  He then looked up to his opponent who would likely be trying to catch him once more, albeit weakened and slightly slowed from his beetle prison. Immediately after infusing the chakra into the tree branch, he would launch himself into the air to prepare an aerial assault out of his opponents reach. He would soon be able to launch more powerful jutsu once more and just had to buy just enough time to set his plan in motion.

The aura raged around him as the young blonde’s, ruby red eyes locked on his fleeing opponent. His mind again disregarded any semblance that his opponent had anyway to trap or stop him, and truthfully if it wasn’t focused around his opponent and the things his opponent could physically do, Taiho couldn’t careless. The pet would have been left in the dust, it’s existence still unknown to Taiho as he closed the distance between him and his opponent in such a little time that the young man had barely had the chance to even run away from his presence before being collapsed on. Barely standing anymore than five feet from each other, and still pursuing, he noticed this opponent rising his left hand for an offending punch, likely a last ditch effort to stop him, but it was clear that the boy physically was not used to such actions due to the panicked way it was raised from beneath the boys cloak.

Taiho had reacted in kind at the boys insistence of stopping him, the anger in his heart screaming for blood as his opponent punched out towards him. At the same time considering the distance between them was negligible as his opponent had deemed it necessary to stop or at least slow his momentum backwards by trying to attempt the movement. The boy had no balance, no preparation to even throw the punch. The amateurish strike could be attributed to something of a drunken haymaker for all the good it would likely do him. Its damage would surely hurt something fierce, but it would likely not do him any good if Taiho knew anything about boxing or rather close quarters combat in general. The distance between them evaporated before the boys hands even had a chance to cock back, the two feet necessary to put him within melee range were a mere formality at this point, he practically ghosted this distance without even noticing as his body adjusted itself, his right shifting further back just for the sake of giving himself more momentum for the strike, however it wasn’t so far back that it threw his body weight off.

The shift took absolutely no time at all and even occurred as his left hand shot out to meet his opponents punching right. Fingers now outstretched as his wrist was used to first nudge the strike to the side before then catch the offending limb around the forearm. He would push the gathered chakra into the outstretched limb upon contact, disrupting and cancelling out his opponents armor of insects while subsequently connecting himself to his opponent through the contact. The movement would have the unintended purpose of cancelling out his opponents attempt at punching out and firing a projectile by directing all of the momentum and power gathered to the side instead of forward while also simultaneously jacking the energy and using it to pull the boy towards him and to the left his person, however even if the boy was able to get off the projectile, the subsequent grip would only cancel out the momentum gained from firing the projectile in the first place. If he was able to establish this grip, then the pull would be too strong to be ignored and his opponent would effectively be pulled off his feet and into the way of the extending right that was poised to strike his opponent directly across the face. The movement also had the unfortunate after effect of releasing his opponents prepared jutsu that had been traveling with the action of his punch, the insect cloud dispersing harmlessly against his blazing aura as he struck his opponent solidly.

The strike would land if the grip had been established, his opponent not having any way to actually stop Taiho from striking him across the face with a powerful overhand right that was given even more power and speed from his rotating body. The momentum of the two boys crashing into each other would carry them forwards another three meters through the mud, but as they travelled Taiho would begin to unleash a completely new version of hell onto his opponents face if the initial grab and the first punch hand landed. He would land each of these punches across his opponents face, tearing at the flesh with each punch, and likely piercing and dislodging one or both of his eyes with each subsequent strike. The boys anger had still not been instantiated and he would continue to wail on his opponent regardless of what the proctors or the crowd said. If he was able to land these strikes, then the stadium would be silenced, only punctuated by each heavy blow he delivered on the helpless and likely comatose boy laying at his feet.

Round Two: Aburame N'Jobu vs. Seiker Taiho Wm6Woa7

As he punched forward his opponent closed in upon him quite quickly, somehow managing to just barely grasp his arm as he finished his punch. Given the momentum of the two arms converging against each other coupled with the sweat and mud they had been kicking up throughout their dual, his opponents grip would be broken by the sheer force of the blank feed ammunition going off as the gauntlets activated. To his surprise however, his opponent had somehow managed to break his chitin armor in addition to forming some kind of restraint onto his arm as when he jerked back from the force of being launched, he felt his arm being tugged in the wrong direction. Instinctively, he raised his left arm up to his face shield himself while commanding a large swarm of beetles from his hand and arm to form a large wall between the two. His beetles would absorb whatever was linking him to his opponent while serving as an impediment for his opponent who would have to do some serious damage to pierce. It wouldn't really matter those as the match was about to end and he would concede before his opponent's next move.

This was all simply for show at this point as he at least wanted to put up good effort for Konoha in the exams but her had a much more significant matter which would require him to be in top shape later on in the evening. Knowing the matters of espionage could very well put him in real lines of danger, getting injured during the exams was not something he wished to allow to happen. With his chitin armor broken, the risks of being injured increased dramatically and he was not willing to accept those risks for something as trivial as a single match of the exams. N'Jobu realized that there was more than one path to his end goal and winning this match by any means necessary was not a good tactical choice for him given he could still continue on through the secondary bracket. The experience was a good one however as he was able to gain valuable insight into how close ranged specialists operate and weaknesses in his kit. He would learn from the encounter and use it in the future to ensure victory against others.

"I concede...Taiho can have this match" he shouted out to the proctor as he arrested his momentum while sliding back a bit from his wall of insects. "S'Yan, come!" he shouted out to his companion as he began walking back to the entrance. S'Yan would come sprinting along until he reached his master and then hopped up onto N'Jobu's shoulder. The loss didn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things to N'Jobu anyways as winning didn't guarantee a promotion to chunin and losing didn't prevent being promoted either. "Good job Taiho...until next time," he would say as he walked out of the arena to head back home to prep for the mission he was set to go on.

The Boxer

The rage of his bloodline bore down on his opponent as Taiho angrily snarled at the ebony boy. His eyes burned a furious red and his teeth had shaped themselves into fangs. Oddly enough the weirdest part of his transformation had been the transition of his hair from blond to blue. The aura raged a great and terrible halogen yellow as his presence crashed down upon his opponent with the weight of all of his focus and determination. He would not be silenced, he would not be snuffed out, and he would not be denied. His opponent would not outdo him, not as long as he was able to fight back. He would crush this boy, like all others, it was the only way he could be validated, it was the only way he could be satiated.

The sound of the boys arms impacting each other rang out through the arena, the silence permeating the area after Taiho’s ghastly and monstrous scream let the world know that the boy was not normal. The sound of the ebony boys armor crumbling apart followed just after as the exposed boy showed a sense of surprise at the fact that his opponent had managed to close the distance between the both of them and remove one of the few barriers remaining between them. Luckily for him and unfortunately for Taiho the boys own punch had maintained enough momentum to activate the inner mechanisms within his gauntlet allowing him to be launched backwards before Taiho had managed to secure a strong enough grip onto the boys wrist. This fact did not escape the beastial boy as he let loose another guttural screech of aggravation in the face of his opponent. The boy had also managed to throw up a wall of insects in the motion that separated them both, leaving Taiho to stare furiously through a wall of minor nuisances.

The insects tried desperately to drain Taiho of his power, but all they did in the end was die in mass from the furiousness of his rage. His red eyes stared the boy down as he slid back from his impromptu escape forcing Taiho to roar again in frustration. He struck the wall multiple times, pulling back from each strike with another fit of frustration. The furious boy couldn’t comprehend that he lacked the strength necessary to destroy the wall of insects, the pests only raising his ire with their existence. He contemplated just bull rushing through the wall itself, not caring if the wall would hurt or reject him. He reached back with his right hand, hand glowing with pure chakra and rage as he thrust it forward slamming it into the wall with no give. He’d repeat this process multiple times, not even hearing that his opponent had already conceded. At this point the red he was seeing was so potent, so deep, that he couldn’t even see that his opponent had left. The blinding rage that he felt was at this point, literal, as he tried his hardest to destroy the one obstacle that stood in the way between him and the opponent that he wished to destroy.

Eventually however, the wall would disperse leaving a ragged and rabid Taiho to stalk forward only to realize that his opponent had left already. His rage died down for only a second before it exploded violently again at the fact that he was once again denied a proper victory. Once again one of his opponent had quit the battle before either one of them had even truly be tested. He was tired of this. What did he train for? What did he risk himself for? Why was he even being hunted? Was he just not worth it? These thoughts boiled through his body as his body bent backwards and he let loose one last guttural shout of rage before the aura blasted itself off him violently, tearing up the earth and muck around him leaving nothing but desolation and destruction. His breathing was ragged and pain as his body lurched forward leaving him hunched and tired. His eyes hurt, his back hurt, his whole body hurt from the exertion it had been placed under due to Berserk Mode.

His blonde hair had begun to turn back, however clumps of it began to fall out for some reason, leaving him with a much shorter and patchy hairdo. This meant nothing to the drained young man as he slouched and trudged his way back to his own entrance, the crowd silent from witnesses the young genin from Iwa practically shout himself to a victory. They couldn’t fathom the self loathing that ran through his body like a plague. At this point his mind was a roiling ocean of emotions and he knew that if he didn’t do something he would fail to secure a promotion. His showing so far at these exams had been rather poor. Even with the two victories he had secured, both times his opponent had practically taken the high ground by ending the clash before it had begun. He had to gain better control of himself. His meditation training so far had proven to lack fruitful results, but maybe now he would finally be able to sit himself down and maybe, just maybe, center himself. Otherwise his next fight...

He didn’t want to think about it.
