Mission:

The mission to catch the thief hadn’t taken much time in the day as Taiho would have liked, thankfully the subsequent shopping spree had filled that time right in. Now wearing a bright crimson one sleeved cheongsam, he felt a bit better about himself, even if the material was definitely too tight, and too... revealing. Blushing slightly at the fact that his thighs up to his hips were visible on both sides were visible, he almost wished that he had kept on his hoodie and sweatpants, but felt that if he had kept those clothes on then Umeko would have likely done something incredibly violent, which would have lead to him having to fight in the dress. Of course the article of clothing looked amazing him with its floral details and bright coloring, and the pair of jade earrings that she had managed to find, fit him rather perfectly. He also now wore a pair of black gloves and a pair of red and black Tai Chi shoes. His blush became more pronounced once he realized he also had some light makeup all over his face and his hair done in a more professional bun to keep it out of his way when fighting. All in all he would look rather good for a young woman, but that was definitely far more confusing for those he’d be fighting considering his extra appendages.

Regardless, by now he was standing by the village gates. He tapped his slipper covered left foot softly on the matted dirt, eyes glancing over the village as he waited rather impatiently for his two teammates. He knew for a fact that his teammates likely had to go and restock for the mission ahead of them, likely missing crucial supplies like kunai and what not, things that he did not use for various reasons. What he did have however was a pair of gauntlets that rested on his hips, attached with a simple connection of chakra that made them rather easy to grab if necessary. The gauntlets looked incredibly dangerous for what they were to be used for, and if anyone asked how deadly they could be... well he could always show them. But regardless he had time to kill until the other two arrived and well... he had nothing better to do. And thus this would be how his teammates would find him, standing by the gate looking cute and prim and proper, but also slightly bored and zoned out enough that someone could sneak up on him if they were particularly good at sneaking, but considering he had already placed himself against a wall, and nowhere near any openings and he was facing the crowd, it would still be fairly difficult to sneak up on him.

Another day, another dollar. Or so the saying went anyways. It had been a rather boring day today. As usual this place was barren, rocky and quite plain. Kizmaru had decided to pick up another assignment to earn some quick and easy pocket money. He stumbled upon an interesting one of defending an armament transport. The payout was real appealing to him though since he was running low on funds and it was apparently a high risk request. Oh well, he’ll figure out what he’s dealing with once he got to his destination. After taking the request he had set out on his destination to the place where the suppose old man fighter was. As he walked through the barren streets of Iwagakure, he had looked around and pondered on ways he could take out would be bandits or marauders without severely hurting or killing them. He didn’t know what to expect but the longer they fought, the higher chance of him hurting people would become. His best bet would be to just do a quick and easy strike to a vital point and call it a day. He snickered a bit, sneering as he finally approached his destination.

Arriving at his destination of the village gates, he looked around a bit at the people packing cargo in caravans, a somewhat blank face but leaning towards a frown. Placing his hands in his pockets, he decided to sit around and wait, not that he had a choice, for the transport to be finished getting packed. He looked around for a bit to see if he could find anything to do. Across the distance, he spotted a familiar figure that he noticed and glossed over immediately, continuing to look around for a bit. After a couple minutes of looking around, he decided to remain at his spot and just watch the workers continue to do there thing. He had nothing better to do after all.

It wouldn’t take too long for the caravan to gather their things and finish the preparations for travel. It seemed that for this mission he would only be accompanied by one other in the form of ‘Kizmaru’ since that is what he called himself. Looking over the expanse of the caravan itself, it looked as if they might not be enough so taking it upon himself to walk over to the young man, he’d tap him softly on the shoulder to garner his attention before pointing towards his ear to gesture if the young man was using the short wave radio that he had given him in the last mission. He would hope that his appearance for now would be ignored as they had work to do. Addressing him appropriately he would once again take the lead for the mission, leaving nothing to chance in case they were happened upon during the caravan’s traversal of the backcountry.

“The mission is simple”, he’d begin softly, glancing over at the men and women who were making their final checks and clamoring aboard to hitch a ride, something that the both of them would be doing shortly, “We just have to ensure that they make it to the border, if you can engage any hostiles without damaging or slowing down the caravan, that’d be even better to be honest with you”. He was serious about this, the quicker they were done, the quicker they could move on to their next mission, or hell just return home before dark in general. Flipping on his own earpiece, he’d turn away from the young man and begin to approach the front of the caravan, “I’ll cover the front half, you cover the back, if you get swamped, don’t hesitate to call. It’s not about egos, it’s about getting paid. Remember that”. His words were a little harsher than normal, but it wasn’t malicious in nature, more he felt he had to be on the business with this one, especially since it was just the two of them tackling it. He didn’t need the mission tarnishing his record so close to the Chuunin Exams.

Well, this seems like it would be a pain in the butt. he knew it was a caravan but it was still a lot to deal with even though this one was considered one of the smaller ones. His almost blank face was now a full fledged frown as he folded his arms across his chest and scoffed. Well, at least he would have a partner to help out with this- Why was he not surprised it was this chick again. What is his luck today? Can't he get somebody new for a change? Damn, well the only saving grace was at least this person was reliable when things got hairy. He instantly recognized her voice the moment his radio had perked up in his ear. He had completely forgotten about the damn thing and decided to listen. He also had assumed she had spotted him long before he was aware of his presence. reluctantly, he had tuned in to listen to this person's course of action. he had forgotten her name hoping he wouldn't run into her after their first encounter. Well, after listening to her plan, he responded with a dry "Copy" before deafening himself and scoffing once more.

Ego, huh? Well, he wasn't exactly filled with that at the moment since one mistake could cost everybody their life if they were attacked anyways. He decided it was best to keep calm and listen to all the commands for this mission unlike last time where he could essentially wing it and little to nothing could go wrong, or so Kizmaru had thought at the time. Anyways, the caravan was getting ready to head out soon. Kizmaru thought it would be wise to do a last minute check of his own inventory before heading out himself. A signal was given in the form of a large cowbell, signaling it was time to for them to move out and get on with their transport. Kzimaru shrugged his shoulder and took the position of the back of caravan hitching a ride in a carriage filled with hay and some bovines grazing. There was some occasional cries from them but it wasn't frequent enough. Still, it bothered hi ma lot that he didn't get a more "comfortable" seat despite being a guard. Still, he had to suck it up and roll with it. man, he hoped this ride wouldn't take that long but since this is a caravan trip, he figured it would take a few days or so.

The Boxer
The sharp clang of the cowbell rung throughout the caravan as the many members all gathered the last few belongings before jumping aboard. Taiho himself watched with a critical eye, ensuring that no one who did not belong had hitched a ride before climbing aboard himself near the front of the caravan and finding a seat alongside the driver. The errant sounds of the caravan members all rushing about to find a stable seat amongst the various wares, goods, and belongings meant that it was fairly difficult for him to actually hear if anyone was approaching, but considering they were still within the village it didn’t matter. He knew it was going to be far more difficult to actually maintain this caravan due to the fact that there were only two of them. He considered radioing to Kizmaru to get the boy to closer towards the middle so that the both of them could cover more ground, but that wasn’t necessary just yet so he held off on it.

Once everyone was inside, he gave the driver the all clear to begin before signalling to the guards that the caravan was passing through. He made sure to tap his radio as well to connect his comms to Kizmaru before they passed too far from the gate. “Remember, high point observation, once we’re a mile out we won’t have the coverage of the village to make up for any lapses in observation. I’ll try and keep comms clear from this point forward but if you’ve got contacts be sure to radio it in immediately”.

He would tap his comm off after saying that, leaving the speaker portion active so that he could hear for any situations. The ride began smooth and was fairly uneventful outside of a few birds here and there. The mission calmed Taiho slightly, bringing him back to his days of Guardian training where tasks like these were fairly common for recruits. Protecting caravans was something you did before you could become a full fledged Guardian so he was honestly surprised that this new land reserved it for those outside of the basic training. Of course he understood that technically genin were still under training, but if he were to compare the two systems, then the shinobi program definitely had more room to grow.

Returning his thoughts to the mission, he idly kept his attention focused on the road ahead, being sure to leave the driver by himself after they had passed the predetermined mile out. He signalled off to the supporting shinobi that had followed the caravan to ensure there were no issues so close to the village before they peeled off and headed back to their own patrols. From this point forward they were practically on their own. That thought left a sour taste in the back of Taiho’s mouth, but he wasn’t going to complain as he used chakra to stick to the roof of the head carriage before sitting down and pulsing his chakra through the caravan and by extension the earth. It was time to get serious.
