Maigo

Maigo

D-rank
Mission:

Could tree roots be found buried in sand itself? Was this terrain hospitable to any form of life? As Maigo had traveled and wandered into the desert, he began to question whether anything could really come of this place and between the gusts of wind that seemed to peg the land perfectly and the constant barrage of sand dunes and sedimentary rock; it didn't seem like much the place for life to take hold. Yet, for all of that, here Maigo was as an emissary of Kiri to deal with the threat of bandits and whatever else had taken hold in this land. It seemed all too coincidental and surreal that as he was tracking down his own set of criminals, the Land of Wind would be called to have their own threat of bandits and criminals to deal with.

Perhaps of a similar breed or even connected, there were answers to be had and Maigo vied heavily to work his way up the list eliminating any threat that would stand before him. Still, for his own village it was about earning a favor from Suna they could levy later on. For Maigo, his own personal goals and leanings made him all the more eager to traverse this land and scour its problem of crime in search of his own criminals.

His silver-grey cloak flapped in the wind calmly with each seemingly focused gust of wind, occasionally blowing back to reveal his clothing underneath and the various pouches and holsters that carried whatever weaponry and tools that wouldn't fit in his backpack. Maigo's larger sword would stay strapped across his back with a leather strap over his cloak across his chest. His sandals squished into the stand with each step that went forward and his hood blew over his face partially with the wind, obfuscating just a portion of his vision as he pushed his way into a nearby town on the outskirts.

The town was small, maybe tens of low hundreds of people that lived there and it seemed poor on top of it all. It wasn't so different from the outskirt towns of the Land of Water in that regard either. The buildings all seemed to match and blend in with the general color and fixture of the rock around them with the sand lining everything on the street on top of that. As Maigo would press into the town he wouldn't find anything in particular identifying anyone of importance, just a few villagers that seemed to shudder away and turn their heads to look at him from the corner of their eyes as he entered into the town. There didn't seem to really be any fighters or warriors among the townsfolk either; a few men and women here that might have fit the mold if they had been trained for it early on but it seemed there were more elderly than anything here. It was a peculiar matter but became easily clear why they were using Kiri ninja to seek out and destroy these pests.

There was another matter on his mind though, outside of using this place as a sort of psuedo camp ground and base of operations. The person or persons that would be joining him on his task. Truthfully, Maigo wasn't told much outside the possible location of a bandit hideout and the need to have it eradicated. For Kirigakure it amounted to a D rank mission. If going forth to eliminate these bandits would be that easy, then Maigo found it in his own self to handle it alone. He wondered if he'd have to lead some random group of genin into danger as he'd done so many times against weak groups of criminals in similar situations just like this. Maybe it was his own apathy that prevented him from getting the full details of his mission or asking the question of who he would be working with but he hardly seemed bothered by any of that.

Maigo made his way roughly one hundred feet into the village, sticking out like a sore thumb the entirety of it, before finding a small shop that lined the center street of the town. A simple tea shop with two other people sitting at a table outside of it, just waiting and talking to each other. Their eyes would glance towards Maigo as he turned his person and stepped in towards the shop, their conversation hushed for a moment as they watched hesitatingly about him. His footsteps carried him away from sand to a softer wood, the transition of his footsteps from crunches to more subtle taps as he approached a counter with an elderly women behind it.

As Maigo approached, he could see a smile come about her face and a quick greeting that he returned with a nod and a smile.

"What can I get for you?" she would hesitate and look at him peacefully while wiping her hands on a small hand-towel.

"Just a tea for now while I wait." Maigo would grin back and leave.

The elderly women would nod quickly in return, "Coming right up dear." she would turn her back and begin pulling out a ceramic cup and setting it on a plate when she would ask again with her back turned, "Tell a nosey old women though, what are you waiting on?"

Maigo would blink for a second as he had pushed his cloak back and sat down to lean his elbow against the counter while looking outside. "Oh, I guess you could say I'm waiting for my squad?" he would say but carry a heavy uncertainty in his tone as he let his words linger in the air between them.

"Oh?" she would ask back over her shoulder as she rolled and crushed tea leaves in her hand.

"Yeah, we've been contracted to hunt down some bandits that have been plaguing the area recently." Maigo would leave off while waiting calmly there.

"I see, well I wish you luck. The criminals have gotten so much worse lately since the village took such a huge toll." The women's voice seemed to drop into melancholy as she was thinking into it. For a brief moment, Maigo felt the sting of embarrassment as he realized what a touchy subject that might remain for the people of this land. How seeing foreign ninja walk in to deal with their problems would be such a strange and even insulting sight to the prideful.

Maigo sighed calmly to himself before apologizing, "Sorry, I don't mean to drag something like that up. I imagine it's weighing heavily on everyone. They all seem so... distant, and it makes sense."

The old women's tone was less cheery than it had been before as she began to heat up the kettle of water over a small flame while talking, "I wouldn't worry too much about that. It's just distrust. After all, it was foreign ninja who merely walked into their land and caused so much trouble by ripping the roots of their system up. I don't mind though, seeing Kiri ninja come to help is almost a welcome sight to these old bones..." she would leave off with a sigh having turned to Maigo. She offered a small smile as she waited for the water to heat up properly but Maigo's eyes would lighten up a bit in curiosity.

"How did you know I was from Kirigakure?" he would leave off, paused almost completely while watching her carefully.

"Oh, it's obvious! Who else would send ninja into our country to hunt down criminals? Iwa was always so kept to themselves and Konoha got involved but not as killers..." Maigo would blink for a second, absolutely shocked and carrying the look on his face as she rattled on. "Well, don't look so surprised! You don't get to be as old and experienced as I am without learning a thing or two..." In that moment though, as she drew attention to it, Maigo realized that she was truly old. Not in a sense of just getting past the mid point of her life but well into her twilight. The wrinkles in her skin carried age and yet she moved nimbly for her age around that small kitchen.

"Fledgling ninja like yourself might have power but back in my day, we could carry ourselves quite easily."

"You speak like you were yourself a ninja?" Maigo would offer back with a raised brow and leaning back in his seat slightly.

"Of course I was. A fine medic at the time too. I battled a lot of enemies both large and small but it takes a toll on the body, and the mind." The women chuckled a bit, in a weird fashion that made Maigo think of how much the mental toll had really taken on her sanity. Still, she quickly pulled the kettle away from the fire as it whistled from the ejecting steam and quickly began to pour it into the cup with the tea leaves. The moment carried on as she finished with her preparations and Maigo watched carefully, almost wondering about the history she carried and the experiences she had.

Still, as the women dipped the tea bag up and down, she turned towards him and placed the steaming hot tea in front of him while speaking up. "It's been too many years though and I'm not a fraction of what I was then. My art remains in making tea and enjoying my time left on this planet while I still can..." The same peaceful smile carried back over her and Maigo couldn't help but smile back. It was an odd feeling, to realize that a place like this had people that weren't so different if only divided by boundaries between nations.

Maigo cupped his hands around the mug and blew a bit of the steam away as he thanked her for the tea. Bringing it up quickly he took a sip of it and let the hot liquid draw to the back of his throat. Hot, indeed but at the same time it was unique and flavorful, offering a profile he hadn't had before in Kiri or in Kumo. Possibly a unique blend for the nation but he didn't make much comment of it, instead offering his compliments on how good it was.

The women smiled and nodded proudly, "Of course I know it's good. Thank you though, it means a lot to know I'm still doing one thing right." Maigo would chuckle a bit in response while risking taking another sip against burning his tongue or mouth on the heated liquid.

"I am sorry though, I haven't seen anyone else come around here that might look like they would be with you." she offered and seemingly shrugged.

Maigo set the cup down and nodded, "That's alright. I'm sure if they're here already I'll see them soon or if not, then I'll see them when they arrive. Either way, I just plan to enjoy this tea and relax before getting dragged out into that desert again..." he would offer his own form of a joke while staying seated at the counter and slowly sipping away at his drink. Ready to wait and carry on this conversation until the rest of the team for this mission would arrive or find him sitting around at this shop.

Nova inhaled deeply, a weary smile on her face as she caught the scent that could only be described as sun-warmed sand on a bright day. The winds, while brisk, carried warmth on their currents, a feeling Nova had missed so badly in her time away. Kiri's ever-present atmosphere of fog, rain and general dampness had worn away at her, though she had often found comfort in Izumi's Suna-inspired home with heated tiles and bright lights. It had been a long time since she had felt that comfort however, as the pair had been traveling for some time and never lingering in any place long. In fact, it had been some time since they had even stepped into a village at all, their path here to Suna a long and difficult one. Taken from Kiri, a group of students had followed Izumi and Nova, not entirely aware of their intentions or reason for the travels, yet all the same they still followed. On this morning however, the group had split to take care of personal matters, leaving Nova sitting out front of the room they had rented in a chair she had dragged outside. An overhang along the roof-line would protect her from Suna's blazing sun, though the warm air was all she needed across her cheeks to enjoy the weather. Sliding her foot from her sandal, she would dig her toes into the soft sand for a moment and closing her eyes and enjoying the silence.

Silence was something she was becoming accustomed to between their travels, though it was not something she was expecting in a village, even if it was one occupied by the long displaced refugees of Suna. About a week before they had arrived mid-day, approaching cautiously with their experiences in the bandit ridden land of Suna, to find empty streets. It was only when they stepped within the walls of a small bar that they found the village was in fact inhabited. The residents had a weary look to their faces, and though none of them seemed to be particularly suited for battle as they were past their prime, though all seemed to carry at the very least a small blade to protect themselves. An unfortunate fact of living where bandits rule. Their presence was not unwelcomed, though the gazes of the inhabitants seemed to slide away from them and a bubble of empty space seemed to follow the group. When served the staff would politely and quickly take care of them before shying away and avoiding them with a glance of fear. Renting a room was also particularly easy, the inn seemed to be excited to have a customer at all, most of their rooms long empty and dust filled. Three rooms had been assigned to them, Nova and Izumi taking one while the others could place themselves as they wanted. More than likely from lack of business, they seemed eager to offer good rates to the travelers for an extended stay. While they hoped to not stay here long, it was a relief to have a place to retreat back to when needed.

On this morning however, Nova thumbed at a sheet of parchment folded several times over and sealed with the Kiri insignia in her hand. It was a mission that had been assigned to her before her departure from kiri and never actually intended to after the change of times. Suna's symbol was worn proudly on her faux knee once more rather than the Kiri plate that was nothing more than a temporary affixion. The details of the mission would have taken them here themselves, though it was coincidence that had led them to be in the very village she would have met the partner she had been assigned. It was Izumi's path that had led them here, despite minor protests from Nova due to avoiding the mission. Here she sat however, as they had agreed that it was unlikely that the mission partner would even recognize her with freshly dyed hair and not a Kiri headband in sight. As much as she wished to ignore it, curiosity about the vague mission details and the shinobi she had been assigned to work with was piqued. Thinking to herself that the hair and Suna plate on her knee would disquise her from all but the most observant of shinobi, perhaps she would venture into the village and see if she could glean any more information on the matter.

Sliding the chair back into the room and readying herself for the day, she felt somewhat lonely without the presence of Izumi as they had become nearly inseparable. Combing out her hair she looked in the mirror, stopping to stare at the stranger in the mirror with locks of lavender and silver hair flowing down her shoulders. Izumi claimed to adore the change in color, though every time Nova would look it the mirror it would still catch her by suprise. As usual, she would dress as a civilian with the headband and wooden left leg being the only thing that might indicate otherwise. A short black skirt and indigo tank top would be clothing for the day, a sheer black kimono drapped over her pale shoulders to protect from the sun while not keeping in the heat. All in all, it left little to the imagination and left nowhere for a weapon to be stored. With the exception of her leg that was, a recent change she had made to the limb  was a small panel along the back of her calf. When slid open, there was a hollow thin slot, made just large enough for a tightly wound scroll to be slid inside. Nova would go without Doku Tsuki or Kurogokegamu today, though by no means meant she was unprotected.

Right hand sliding up her left arm, her fingers would prod at a long since healed wound across her upper arm. Perhaps she was protected from enemies, though there was always another threat just barely satiated waiting for her and lurking in her thoughts. A new arm would just serve you soooo much better..... Always present, Nova would try to shove the voice to the back of her head yet again and slide her hand away from the inch wide and several inch long banded scar on her arm. Slipping her feet into a pair of black silk flats, Nova would take one last look in the mirror before turning and walking out the door making sure to turn the lock behind her, the few belongings that Izumi and Nova took with them stored in that single room.

Even the air seemed to scorch her skin, but it was a plesant feeling for her as she walked towards the cafe nearest her room. In the weeks time that they had been here, Nova and Izumi had enjoyed the tastes of the unique food that came from the lands of Suna, as well as all of the novelties that the desert would offer. The cafe in mention was run by a rather old lady with a rather good sense of humor. Her specialty was a cactus flower tea, something that Nova had been craving from the moment she had left the village hidden in the sand. While importing the tea was an option with Izumi's connections, the flowers never seemed quite as fresh and the tea would have a stale taste from it. Here however, Nova wouldnt be surprised if the flowers were gathered in the immediate area by the shop owner herself. Here was where she would stop first, to get a cup of tea and listen to any mentions of travelers passing through.

Walking up she would nod at a pair sitting in the shade outfront of the building, who would give her a sideways glance and go back to murmuring amongst themselves. Through the glass door, Nova would see the elderly woman who ran the place conversing with a man sitting at the counter. She was going through the actions of making tea as she listened and responded. Cloaked and dark-haired, the heavily armed figure within the store made her stomach turn slightly, and even without knowing she could tell that this would have been her mission partner. Despite the knot growing in her stomach, Nova would clench her fingers in one hand and swing the door open with the other. She would try to quietly walk across the room but the loud clack of her wooden leg on the flood made her entrance less than stealthy. "How did you know I was from Kirigakure?", she would listen to the masculine source of the voice carefully, walking up to the counter a few seats away from the man.

The old lady would nod a greeting to her before continuing speaking to the man, "Oh, it's obvious! Who else would send ninja into our country to hunt down criminals? Iwa was always so kept to themselves and Konoha got involved but not as killers..." so he WAS from Kiri, there was no way this man was anyone other than the mission partner she should have been meeting. after a short pause for breath the woman would start again"Well, don't look so surprised! You don't get to be as old and experienced as I am without learning a thing or two.. Fledgling ninja like yourself might have power but back in my day, we could carry ourselves quite easily.""You speak like you were yourself a ninja?", it seemed the man had the same though as Nova did, this woman was long past her prime was one would not be able to guess that she was at one point a ninja herself without being told so. Despite trying to pay attention to conversation, Nova would blink and shake her head curiously for a moment as though trying to shake away a bug, Kill them. You know you could., Sasori's voice echoed in her thoughts at the most inconvenient of times... "Of course I was. A fine medic at the time too. I battled a lot of enemies both large and small but it takes a toll on the body, and the mind.", she would laugh to herself and turn to continue her work on the tea before setting it down in front of him."It's been too many years though and I'm not a fraction of what I was then. My art remains in making tea and enjoying my time left on this planet while I still can...", a smile was worn on her face, breaking through the wrinkles and bringing a hint of youth back to her eyes.

As the man would cup his hands to the drink and blow steam away, the lady would turn to Nova, “Same as last time for you?”. With a shy smile and an attempt to keep the curtain of lavender hair between herself and the man she would nod, “Yes please, extra strong”. The man would compliment the tea, to which the woman would nod proudly and speak with a hint of sass, "Of course I know it's good. Thank you though, it means a lot to know I'm still doing one thing right." Pausing for a second and turning to start on Nova's tea, she would speak as she worked, "I am sorry though, I haven't seen anyone else come around here that might look like they would be with you."

Nova's heart was pounding at that, it was her they would speak of but would they recognize her at all? Perhaps helping this ninja from Kiri would not be the worst thing as they too were only attempting to help stabilize Suna, something that Nova couldn't deny being a necessity. Still with the sheet of hair between her and him, she would listen carefully as he would respond. "That's alright. I'm sure if they're here already I'll see them soon or if not, then I'll see them when they arrive. Either way, I just plan to enjoy this tea and relax before getting dragged out into that desert again..." This man really didn't seem so bad, perhaps it was just the fear from leaving Kiri without a word that was at work here, making her afraid to work with someone from the village. Though she would not mention that it was her to be on the mission, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to chat with the man at the very least, “The tea has cactus flowers in it, thats part of what makes it so good. In addition to the magic she works on it that is., Nova would speak softly and turning her head to look at the man. Pitch black hair and pale complexion made for a striking visage in combination with the his height and built. “Sorry to intrude... but what were you doing in the area? I overhead you talking about bandits or something?”, She would ask, already aware of the answer but asking as if to assure herself that this was the man she ought to have been meeting. Perhaps his intent really was to help Suna, though Nova was unsure if that was the goal of Kiri itself as well. Go with him. Hunt. I'm certain there will be those we can make art from there., Sasori's voice sounded hungry, like a wolf being taunted with an injured deer, urging her into a situation to draw blood if possible.

Tapping steps made their way into the shop and the old woman's attention was caught for a moment as it drew Maigo's eyes openly around him. The newcomers arrival to the counter would be rather passive, normal in that regard but weird for this place as she didn't seem to mind Maigo's presence or excess of weaponry. He would smile and nod while glancing to the side before returning back to his conversation and waiting on his own tea, not paying much mind to the person who had taken a seat near him. She didn't seem like anything threatening and didn't appear to be his on his team at all either. After all, Maigo's heavily armed appearance and obvious misplacement in this land would make it all too obvious that he was like a weed in the grass. Or maybe like a creek within a desert would be a more apt description. Maigo's mind ran over the situation briefly of the vibrantly colored and passive person and contended to let her be as he had so many of the others that inhabited this land too.

After he had carried through the conversation, the old woman stayed focused on making the tea for the other person in similar steps as Maigo sipped away at the cup in front of him as her voice rang up and explained the composition of the tea. Maigo looked down to the ceramic cup in his hand and looked at its coloration and viscosity, seeing the slightly lighter color but homogeneous mixing of it, he knew there had to be something truly special to it for someone to bring it up but those details would be mostly lost on him. It was still undeniably good and seemed to be a trademark of the village but Maigo was never one for fancier things and highly regarded functionality over form. As such, ingredients and the finer things of life that contained its value in the details or in its creation over its use didn't really mean much to Maigo.

Maigo would turn as a smile would spread across his lips, "It is very good tea, but I'm just mostly glad she didn't include the cactus needles in it," he would nearly burst out laughing to himself with a wide grin after turning to her as well before picking the glass up again and beginning to take another drink of it. A dumb joke but Maigo absolutely found himself to be the funniest person that he knew and had no problem making a fool of himself in any situation regardless. Still, there were some things that Maigo would be careful carrying on about while in this land and while on his missions.

It felt different this time though, much more relaxed than he would normally carry himself on missions. Normally, Maigo would have stood at the gate patiently, or even headed out to scout the area immediately and taken his demeanor much more seriously but in this land, seeing things in this way couldn't help but draw out some of the empathy and humanness from the rough exterior he was trained to have in Kiri. Things weren't different and he wouldn't act as an avenger for this land so much as he would work to serve and improve their lives. If the only way he could do that was to carefully and systematically eliminate the various threats that plagued the land then he would do so with absolute meticulousness.

Still, he didn't really know if he'd get much of a laugh out of her or even the old woman behind the counter should she still be listening but after his sip he'd set the cup down and take note of how much he'd consumed already. His face straightening out a bit as he contained himself, "But, I'm here on a mission from my village to search out and deal with a few bandits. Nothing too serious but I hear they've been a real problem in this land lately and it's sort of our trademark to deal with troublesome criminals." he gave a bit of a smirk while carrying his head high.

Maigo would lean back into his seat a bit and turn his attention to focus on the conversation in front of him instead of hunched over the tea that was in front of him. "I don't know though, if no one shows up soon I might just go on my own." he would smirk a bit and pick the cup up again to his hand. After a short pause, Maigo would speak up quickly, "You're from here, aren't you? While I'm waiting for my team to hopefully show up, perhaps you could tell me a little bit about the criminals and bandits in this part since the village... well, you know what I mean." Maigo would hesitate, catching himself mid-sentence and doing his best to avoid a touchy subject. Not knowing how any one person would respond or mistake his intent, being a foreigner was a touchy subject and normally, Maigo wouldn't care in the slightest how any one person would perceive his actions or words but he was on a mission here. He had a goal and had to be wary of how he carried himself and represented his village.

The old woman would step forward and set more tea down in front of the other person as she chimed into the conversation, "They're terrible! And that's all you need to know about them!" she huffed a bit while nodding before stepping back from the counter a bit.

In the end, it was the people that he had to benefit. An odd sense of justice had to be restored and with his skills, the might of Kirigakure behind him, the best they could do was bring down the lawlessness of the land where it existed. He silently affirmed to himself that he would crush whatever criminal elements he found and would find what he was looking for beyond it. Maybe it was wrong of him to continue searching and serving his own purposes while on a mission in this land but he didn't have time to think about that and didn't have time to wonder about whether his actions were ethical or not.

Handsome face turning towards hers with a bright smile he would make an attempt at humor, "It is very good tea, but I'm just mostly glad she didn't include the cactus needles in it." Nova couldn't help but grin at the thought, recalling a time she had had that very thing happen to her after one of the waitresses at the cafe in Kiri that Izumi and Nova had frequented brew her tea with no experience on tending to the blooms properly before making it. Trying to make a quip back she would relay the memory, “I've actually had that before, really didn't add to the experience.” Sipping his tea between bouts of laughter, he would set the cup down with a large smile on his face.

Solemning up slightly he would speak again,"But, I'm here on a mission from my village to search out and deal with a few bandits. Nothing too serious but I hear they've been a real problem in this land lately and it's sort of our trademark to deal with troublesome criminals." His tone was not too serious however, and still wore a bit of smirk. Leaning back in his seat in a relaxed position, he would slide his nearly empty glass slightly away from him on the counter. "I don't know though, if no one shows up soon I might just go on my own.",the smirk would show itself again as he would pick up the glass still leaning back. Nova would laugh nervously, fully aware that she was the one he was waiting on. Letting the cafe fall silent for a moment, he would pip up with a question, "You're from here, aren't you? While I'm waiting for my team to hopefully show up, perhaps you could tell me a little bit about the criminals and bandits in this part since the village... well, you know what I mean." Speaking with hesitation, he looked to the pair in the cafe with him for a response, and rightfully so as the entire village seemed to be on a hair trigger these days.

The old woman would set Nova's own tea before her, and after Nova thanked her she would chime in to the conversation from before, "They're terrible! And that's all you need to know about them!" A sentiment shared by the rest of the occupants of the village though very few, if any at all, were able to defend or take action. Nodding her head in agreement, though she herself wanted more knowledge on the bandits on question herself, she would raise the steaming mug to her lips and take a deep sip. Savoring the flavors for a moment, she decided she wanted a sweeter taste to the nectar and dripped some wildflower honey in and stirred. Taking another sip she smiled at the now slightly sweeter taste and set the cup down. Using this time to think on how to respond, not wanting to let on that she was new to the area once more as well as her guise was that of a shinobi of the Land of Wind who had not left. Chewing on her words before she spoke, “I'm not quite sure about the numbers or exact location, but I know that there is some sort of trading outpost about an hours walk from the north end of the village that there has been trouble in.” Nova would try to play off the information as a rumor that she had heard, rather than information that she herself had gathered in the interest of taking care of herself. The displeasure about being assigned a mission was not the goal, to displace the scum that had been running the land of wind to ruin, but rather that she no longer idenitfied herself as a member of that village.

Perhaps she could still help, though not under her own name. She would merely be a resident of the village with the skill and motivation to help. Though she would have to leave Kurogokegamu behind for fear that it would identify her as who she truly was rather than the alter-ego that she had taken on. “You know, I may not be your official partner, but I could go with you. I'm Xie by the way. I just... I wouldn't mind helping get rid of them if you aren't opposed.” In fact, it had been something she had been planning on taking care of herself at one point. Good... go and take what you need. Nova would reel back in her seat for a moment as she was bombarded with images before her vision returning to her own. Scenes of gorey workshops, hands that weren't hers turning body after body into mechanical tools. Feeling sick to her stomach for a moment she took a deep sip of her tea to hide her discomfort.

“If you'll have me, I'd be ready right away, just a stop by home to grab something. It's in the right direction too, won't have to go out of the way.” Pushing Sasori back in her mind again, she tried to usher them onwards, fearing that each moment of her inexperience might blow her cover. “So when did Kiri decide to help?”, she would question as she stood, the hem of her skirt high enough to show the Suna headband in her prosthetic legs kneecap as she did so. Running a hand through her lavender hair, she would look back at the man expectantly, her emerald eyes meeting his dark ones.

Her response came a bit hesitated but Maigo had waited calmly and patiently despite thinking that it was such a straightforward question. She seemed to not really know much aside from some hearsay about a trading post. Maybe it would equal something as the bandits he was to target were in the area as well but he was still less reluctant to connect any of the dots in his head and more interested on the local perspective of it all.

She continued to introduce herself as Xie as well as offering her help on whatever task. Maigo wanted to chuckle for the briefest moment but instead found himself nearly choking slightly on his last slip. Coughing, Maigo forced it down and took a breath afterwards before looking at her and offering a quiet apology before setting the empty cup down. Probably taken a bit rudely, Maigo would recover himself and try his best to play off his own surprise of the situation despite her offer to stop off at home and be right on the way with him.

Maigo hesitated heavily as he swiveled more fully in his chair to look at her directly instead of turning to do so. He instantly weighted on what she meant but there were a few things he knew directly. Firstly, he had no idea if she had any skill whatsoever and wouldn't just be a vigilante citizen running about to put herself in some righteous danger. The brief pause she gave after Maigo asked his question might have been in pause of a memory or something hurtful she wanted to take revenge on. Maigo almost felt a hand raise to his mental chin as he understood immediately that, that wouldn't do under any circumstances. He might be able to handle these common weed bandits with ease but protecting someone else from getting hurt was an entirely different story.

Secondly and maybe more importantly to his concerns was that prosthetic leg that he heard on his way in but avoided looking at this far. Would it be rude for him to bring it up? In his mental musing he would let his eyes glance down for a brief moment before turning and pushing the ceramic cup away from himself to signal that he was done with it.

"Now hold on," Maigo would speak up as soon as he'd finished sliding the cup away. "What makes you think it'd be a good idea for me to drag some random citizen to go fight a bunch of bandits? You'd be more likely to get yourself hurt than anything..." Maigo literally waved his hand for a moment from underneath his cloak before returning it to resting near his thigh as it had been just a moment ago. His head was probably held a bit too high and maybe his words and actions would be more insult than anything but it had to be said! Maigo wouldn't be a baby sitter or assurance to someone else's vigilantism. His own was bad enough to deal with.

Perhaps her disguise may have worked better than intended, the expression upon the man who sat beside her's face was a skeptical one with a hint of amusement. Nearly choking on his last gulp of tea he sputtered and set the cup down a little to hard on the counter, a loud clink sounding as it nearly cracked. Flushed red would crawl up her chest and neck, staining her freckled cheeks as she felt the sting of a bitter emotion she had not felt in quite a long time. Shame and embarrassment touched her thoughts at the lack of limb and perceived weakness. If you let me perfect you they would not smirk in your direction again... Somehow she would hold back the growl that bubbled in her throat with the anger she felt flow into her from Sasori. Faking a cough into her elbow she hid both her flush and her slip in emotions, before sipping from her tea in an attempt to calm down.

He seemed to take a moment to stifle as cough at the same time, after evening his breathing her would turn in his seat while still leaning back to take her in fully. If a random villager who appeared to have a physical deformity offered their help in a mission such as the one he had mentioned, she thought perhaps she would react similarly. Certainly she had gotten too full of herself, thinking even under the disguise of a civilian that she had an aura one might respect was not something that would happen to one such as her. The confident was not sourced from her however and was not a feeling one would associate with Nova's personality, rather it was a dominating trait of the presence that lurked in the back of her mind. I was not seen as physically strong either, but recall what I had accomplished... With that images would slide across her vision behind her eyelids with every blink, each one another victory at Sasori and his creations hands. Sighing and trying to clear her head she would look back to the main as he began to speak,"Now hold on, what makes you think it'd be a good idea for me to drag some random citizen to go fight a bunch of bandits? You'd be more likely to get yourself hurt than anything..."

A darkness would flicker in her emerald eyes, though not changing her expression she radiated a moment of anger before it was whisked away again. Fortunately her abilities were not suspicious to reveal in a land such as this, Suna being the birthplace of puppetry long ago, and Nova would take a gamble on him not knowing much about the partner he was meant to work with and therefore being unable to make the connection. Nova would force a smile onto her face, “I'm not much for physical combat as I'm sure you noticed... but by no means unfit for battle. You wont have to worry about keeping me safe if that's your worry.” The last words came out a bit sharper than intended as she heard a grumble in her mind from Sasori, who seemed to be quickly growing bored with the dance of social skills. Taking a breath and looking to the man with a determined expression on her face, she would provide what she hoped would be enough of a reason to persuade him into taking her on as an unknown companion, “Suna needs help to rise from the chaos. I want to be one of those who would bring it up from the ashes, and if accompanying will further that then that is what I wish to do.” Yes child... we will raise Suna from the rubble. Return it to the glory of my days. Once more the vision of a Suna long past in all its glory would light behind her eyelids as she blinked, turning to see how her small speech had been received.

Maigo caught it. Maybe it was just a flicker but it was a too familiar feeling to the Uchiha to just toss it away. It was what he was probably most known for in personality, outside of his own apathy of course, but that feeling of rage that carried so deeply in his core to the things that slighted him. As he watched, he knew that he meant no true slight by it but whatever damage had been done already as his words lingered in the air between them for just a moment.

Xie responded by simply smiling and assuring him that she could hold her own in battle, for whatever that was worth. It seemed to be mostly just words and confidence like so many might carry but it seemed different to him. It was in the very air around her that she wielded that trait so plainly and cleanly that Maigo could feel the experience behind the words. Not one for physical combat but perhaps it was ninjutsu that she excelled in or some other art that would let her fight at a distance or perhaps she was like him, and excelled in genjutsu? It wouldn't matter much as Maigo's eyes watched carefully and took note of all that she was doing in that moment, every passing motion and twitch of muscle he would watch for the slightest hint of weakness or the faintest hint of disbelief.

Yet, she affirmed herself and her goals, to bring Suna up from the ashes. A noble goal that Maigo couldn't help but smirk at as she finished, as serious as she might be it offered him a small sense of admiration and truly, it was what he was there to help with as well. Holding his smirk and with a quick nod, Maigo would stand up in his chair and let his cloak form around him before fishing into his pocket, "Perfect then, we'll make your stop and then I'll lead on to where I'm supposed to go." he would reach his arm out and drop some arbitrary amount of ryo to the older women, probably enough for three cups of tea before smiling to her as well.

"Thank you for the tea, it was really delicious. I'll have to tell the others to venture over here and try it." Maigo would continue on before leaving the ryo with a wave of his hand as she thanked him in return. His eyes would flicker to the exit of the shop where he would motion for his new comrade to lead the way while he would follow along diligently and wonder about the rest of his squad. It didn't matter, tardiness was as it is, and if they couldn't arrive here in time, he would finish this mission without them with ease.

Still, as Maigo would follow Xie out whenever she was ready, he would speak up again with a sort of forgetful remembrance on his face, "Also, I'm Maigo by the way. Can't remember if I said that or not..." he would light up for a moment with a sort of dumb chuckle on his face for a moment, letting his hand awkwardly scratch the back of his head. It wouldn't be long before he would have to transition again, to focus on the mission and drop his apathetic and joking nature.

Once Maigo would take the lead, he would dash off from the town at a pace that Xie could match, making their way a couple miles through harsh desert sand dunes and over the few rocks that would line the desert and create various basins and cliffs throughout the hills they swarmed. He knew exactly where he needed to go and had a good idea of what he would find but there was no need to rush in blindly. The beating sun was pushing through the afternoon and the heat was at its most intense as they would descend upon a final rock facing over a small encampment of people.

Maigo would crouch down over the rock and shrink his person down as much as he could while observing it all. In the center of the compound was a large tent serving as a building, with various other smaller tents to line the outside directions of it. From outside, a chain of people would be pushed into the main tent, all of them chained together by the hands and feet while various others watched and served guard duty from various positions.

Maigo's eyes would continue to roll over it while he silently grit his teeth just a bit, knowing with certainty that these were some of the human traffickers that the village was after. It made the feeling all the worse but he continued to scout out while remaining low for a couple minutes. Unless Xie would speak up before he finished, Maigo would offer some idea of what he had, "I'm counting around 15 in total? I'd guess around 20 just to be safe... anything else you caught?" he would look over to her for a moment, checking one last time to see if the adrenaline of the situation had kicked in or any wavering of her confidence so he could send her away and prevent her from entering a battle she wasn't ready for. Call it distrust, but Maigo had to be absolutely sure that she would be able to handle herself.

After her response, Maigo's eyes would flicker back towards the encampment and he would raise to one knee, reaching a hand to the large sword's hilt on his back and letting those red eyes of his flicker and then spin into life.

His eyes were trained on her, taking in her every move. Upon her face a blank expression after the faux laughter.  "Perfect then, we'll make your stop and then I'll lead on to where I'm supposed to go." Nova would nod briskly, and from a slight pocket in her short she pulled a few coins for her tea and set them beside her empty glass. Standing from the stool and letting his cloak fall around his form, the man would pull his own payment and them some from a pocket within and drop it to the counter as well as he thanked the old woman, "Thank you for the tea, it was really delicious. I'll have to tell the others to venture over here and try it." Maigo would continue on before leaving the ryo with a wave of his hand as she thanked him in return.

Looking to the exit, he would motion Nova onward. Nova would begin the short march to her room, for her to gather her puppets and be ready for battle. Though it irked her that he did not have a respect for her it was clear why without her puppets at her side, but it was for that very reason that she justified that she would seal them in some simple scrolls before their trek. Even if it kept her slightly slower than she really would prefer to go, it would keep her show of a power to a minimum and perhaps keep them from being caught quite so early. As they strode out the tea shops door and onto the dusty road through the spattering of buildings, the masculine voice would sound again, "Also, I'm Maigo by the way. Can't remember if I said that or not...", his voice with a hint of chuckle behind it. Nova would smile at his attempt at lightheartedness before turning back to a face of concentration as she tried to walk as normally as possible, not keen on the idea of Maigo judge her for her slow speed.

Walking to the small abode only took five minutes or so, even with Nova's slow pace. Nodding to Maigo she would walk towards the door, “Wait here for just a moment. I'll be right out.” Unlocking the door and sliding through the cracked door without opening it all the way, Nova would slip into the room hopefully without Maigo seeing its contents. Taking up a good half of the room were her duo of large puppets, to which Nova would walk over to and pulling two pieces of parchment from one of their compartments draw out the basics of a seal. She would repeat this process for both, the puppets now held in tightly bound scrolls, would slide them into the slot in the back of her leg alongside the scroll that held Sasori. Adjusting the straps that held the wooden limb on, she would stride back out to find Maigo waiting, leaning against the doorframe. “I.. eh.... will be a little slower on the way there. Sorry for the inconvenience...”, Nova would mumble out as she didnt wait for a response before talking a little louder and more confidently, “So what direction do we head?

Nova trailed behind Maigo as they dashed onwards, her limp prominent now and chest heaving as she really wasn't fit for long distance running especially across the sand. They had come to a series of basins and cliffs, leaving Nova longing for respite and to just unseal her puppet now. Still there was a whisper in her skull, Do not show him your strength yet.... clearly he underestimates you... Nova had begun to notice a strange relationship with Sasori, while often he worked exclusively in his own interest he had begun to express a sort of compassion for Nova even it if was only because he sought the unrevealed powers that he suspected Nova to hold. As much as it stung to do as well as how little she knew Maigo would think of her for it, she had to ask that he carry her up and down them whilst trying to brush it off with a comment about how the prosthetic leg left her unable to use the supernatural walking practice.

At last, they would come to one last cliff-edge, they would look down to see a small encampment. Seeing her partner crouch, she would do the same as she wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand. Desert and dunes were all that lay beyond the meager encampment, looking down it was easily seen that a chain of people would be pushed from smaller tents around the edge into a larger one in the center. Turning to see Maigo's expression, she saw one similar to what she wore; Gritted teeth and a grimace at acknowledging what was going on here. "I'm counting around 15 in total? I'd guess around 20 just to be safe... anything else you caught?", he would speak as he looked at her gauging her reaction. Staring down at the encampment with a grim expression she would ponder what to say for a moment. “If you think you can separate them from those in restraints... I should be able take care of them pretty quick.... As he looked back, Nova would notice a flicker in his eyes. Ahh.... an Uchiha eh?

Free the prisoners? That would be easy... though her choice of words were a bit odd about the situation, Maigo would immediately chop it up as a Freudian slip. Though, he was absolutely prepared to guarantee their safety at any cost, whatever it would take of him and to whatever brutal lengths it would drive him. Maigo would stand up and grab his cloak just below his neck, removing it from his person and letting it drop to the ground after taking his sword from his back and slamming the blade's edge into the ground. With a final nod and confirmation towards Xie, he would step forward, grabbing the hilt of his blade and descending quickly down the sand towards the encampment.

His feet were sliding down it, kicking up a flurry of sand as he pushed onward and let his momentum build ever forward. His eyes were flicking to the scene in front of him as it seems he caught the outer perimeters guard. Like a leaf dancing in the air, Maigo would jump up and let the arm attached to his sword hover downward as he would rotate his body and let his free arm build up in the tingling static of electricity before exploding to life in his palm while the sounds of chirping birds would ring violently in the air. As he began to descend, his sharingan would target each of the restrained persons and he would launch a small flurry of senbon to their restraints, aiming to pierce and break the bindings that held them in one swoop. Each of them flying through the air and bringing their distinct pitch passing by, each of the senbon would strike their target as Maigo predicted them to, granted that each of them didn't move of course, and would rip through the chains between each of them to set them free.

Maigo's lack of attention on the bandits themselves made no real difference in the end, being even slower and weaker than he imagined they would be. As he would land and recover his balance, letting his sword-bearing arm recover and bring the sword in front of him, the outer guards would already be pushing him with their weapons drawn and battle cries burning the air in front of them.

Slow.

Was all that Maigo could think as he would draw the end of his blade as deep into the sand as he could before slinging it upwards at an angle and tossing a cloud of sand and debris into the faces of the three attacking bandits. Like quick work, the serrating sounds of flesh as his blade would augment each tear as he bore through them and let the drop right there at his feet.

There was no time to waste though, as Maigo descended into the village he would begin tearing open tents as he passed by and the alarms and shouts of several others quickly built into chaos. Two more bandits tried to stop him and though they would actually get attacks off, would be met with the crushing blow of Maigo's Lingering Wildfire in counter faster than they could realize. The very essence of Maigo's rage began to build but the flame that burned within him couldn't be kindled with such weak targets. They absolutely deserved their deaths but for everyone to approach him, he only saw them as weak and ineffectual cowards that preyed on innocence and ordinary life.

There was no regret in his eyes, and no compassion in his heart as Maigo let his blade slam heavily into the shoulder of another, nearly cleaving him in half. The slaughter would continue until every last one dropped, whether or not his companion would join in his murderous rage didn't matter to him. She was an afterthought until his mission was done.

Panting and with a heavy stream of sweat dripping down her brow and soaking the lavender hair on the back of her neck as they would discuss their plan of action. Trying to keep her eyes down under the assumption that there was a disappointing look pointed her way, she would watch sidelong as Maigo would remove his cloak in a fluid movement and pull the blade from his back. Slamming it into the ground, he would nod affirmation to her as he would step forward and start begin the quick descent to the camp. Resting back on her heels for a moment before she would join, she would sigh as the voice whispered in her ear.Why do you wait?. A growl would sound as Nova felt a prickle of defiance crawl up her neck.Go. Now.

Reaching down to where the scrolls were held in her leg, she would hesitate for a moment as her fingers hovered over the ancient page that held Sasori within. The action was not her own, but perhaps the urge of the mind within that puppet, though this time the compulsion was not enough to cause the action to be fully played out. Touching the scroll containing Doku Tsuki now, she would consider if this meager encampment was worth the use of the armored tank. Lingering on Kurogokegamu, she couldnt recall the last time she had actual rode within the cushioned interior. The glossy hull of the arachnid puppet was far too recognizable in the lands they had been traveling what with it having been the utensil she had made use of to win the exams. But perhaps enough time had passed that her and her belongings had faded from the memories of those who had spectated the series of battles. It had bee quite a long time since she had used the puppet that held such a sentimental place in her heart. Kurogokegamu it would be, should the uchiha man recognize her so be it. Unsealing the scroll with the touch of her finger, the puppets hull would form from the air around her creating a solid barrier between her and the hot sand. Her feet of the ground she would relax, glad too be no longer walking after the physical exertion she had just gone through by running across the desert on the wooden leg that she bore.

Watching now from Kurogokegamu, her fingers would spin the emerald thread from their tips which would dance to the puppets insides where they would connect. For the first time in a long time, the black spider would dance to life, eight legs lifting it from its sand resting place. Down the puppet would sprint from the peak of the dune, sliding down in the footsteps that lead to Maigo. In a display of  physical and acrobatic skill, Maigo would begin an assault on those within the camp with a technique that felt familiar to Nova. The chittering of bird and crackle of electricity.... Chidori eh?” A spray of senbons would dart towards those in restraints, Nova gasping for a moment as she thought he was attacking them as well before noticing they would shatter the the restraints that held them.

Maigo would be paying no attention to the bandits who had considered themselves on guard despite the lack of awareness. At least be useful. Kurogokegamu was not a creation built for stealth, its skitter down the dune neither a quiet nor hidden approach. A group of the bandits would turn to the noise, catching a glimpse of a lavender mane streaming behind what would appear to be some sort of abomination of human and arachnid. Four raggedly dressed men would turn to her, faces a mix of horror and determination to defend their meager group. Perhaps had they known their companions behind them were currently meeting their own gristly end, they would have fled rather than stood with their assortment of weapons pointed in her direction.

Two scimitars, a spear, and hefty looking warhammer were the iron weapons wielded by the sand dusted men who stood against her. Each one had a meager leather helmet on their brow, though dirt tinged sweat would drip down as a mixture of fear and heat would assault them. Aiming the meager cannon that was mounted on the bottom of the scorpion, Nova would reach to the long unused pocket of ammunition that she kept by her leg and slid it into the slot. Forward a ball of razor threads would fly, unraveling into a web that would wrap its edges around the men who had previously been using their closeness as a method of defense. As the projectile was fired, the puppet would dash forwards, upon reaching them rearing up and stabbing down into the chests of the man with the spear and the younger looking of the two that carried a sword. A satifying squelch and crack would sound, as the blades hidden within the puppet would jab into flesh. Lungs would be pierced on both, and as the puppet would begin to back up it would drag the blades downward and slitting the stomach of each down the middle. Organs and insides would ooze out, as well as a pool of crimson blood that would stain the sand, as the two who lay trapped under the razor web on either side of their deceased companions would attempt to break free.

With a burst of strength, the man who had a warhammer trapped at his side would yell out as strained against the wire and snapped it, though it would slice deep into his arm before it would do so. Hefting the hammer in his uninjured arm he would try to circle around Nova. Still the man with the spear struggled on the ground, allowing Nova to turn to the freed bandit. The turn would be just in time to catch the blow of the hammer striking against one of the puppet's forelegs. Eyes narrowing as the blow would dent the puppets armor, Nova's free hand would dart out of the puppet itself, pointing at the man before her with a dangerous glimmer in her eyes. Emerald thread would push forth, though this bunch of threads would have a glint to them that suggested an unusually sharp edge. With precision, the string would form a noose around the man's throat. Moving her finger in a motion as if she were beconing him to approach the loop would tighten, slicing into the flesh around the entirety of his neck. Blood and breath would sputter out as the man would drop the hammer heavily in the sand before falling to his knees and clutching at his throat.Good... very good. Go on. Finish the last one. Or let me do it.

Again the urge to let Sasori loose upon the earth would strike, which Nova would whisk away by dispatching the last man who still struggled against the web in the same manner that she did for he who wielded the warhammer. Dead lay around her, even more around Maigo she would note as she turned to see how his battle went. The tents and shelters that one stood now crumbled into ashes that were whisked away in the desert breeze. Despite the speed of the aforementioned air current, it would not push the metallic scent of blood from the air around them. Turning and letting her eyes meet the man she had accompanied, a growing respect would form at the view of the multitudes of bodies that lay before him.

The battle was raging on, his eyes darting to and fro across the horde of innocents and cowards that stood before him. Landing through his blow into the bandit and leaving the sword at the end of his swing in a somewhat graceful move, Maigo would let the body drop and hit the sand while it's blood poured outwards in gushes from his innards. It almost let a pin drop in the small gap between his movements, long enough to give the hair on the back of his neck a chance to stand up as both he and his enemy would decide how to act and who's lives would be traded on the field of battle. Lunged down slightly with a leg behind him, Maigo held the great blade out from his body and let it float completely still as his sharingan flickered to his right towards the direction he'd come to see the creature that skittered down the mountain side.

It was like a flurry of awful memories, the clicking and chittering of mechanical parts that reminded him so heavily in his gut that he hated puppets. Maybe it was bias more than hatred but his own chuunin exams and run ins with puppeteering bandits had left a taste so awful in his mouth that he could never really direct himself towards them. No, not bad memories of loss or defiance that would keep him up at night but the memory of senses like those in the illusions he left so many under. Like an annoyance, the sound of soft rubber squeaking against a floor or the paled comparison of tinnitus that blocked out all sound. It didn't matter much and didn't change much of who he was but for once, the puppet was on his side and for that, he'd be silent and content enough to ignore it as his sharingan would flicker back to the three enemies that surrounded him now and stepped forward cautiously with their katana drawn towards him.

His focus shifted with his eyes, now in that blink of a moment he began to think on the boys that stood before him, even younger than himself and ready to engage even after seeing their comrades brutalized and the jutsu he threw out. Their hands were shaking on the weapons, knowing they'd have to earn a lucky strike and all hoping that one of the other boys would be the first to move instead of him. Their worries would run out quickly as Maigo would lunge forward and begin to move, carrying his weight on his legs as he began to dash forward, his sword lingering for a moment before being turned and swung in front of him. The wide carrying arc of his blade would force one boy to his right to jump back and the one in front of him to block with everything he had. His katana holding the sword back and his weight trying to outdo Maigo's force as the sword in his hand paling in comparison to A Lingering Wildfire. Quickly, the blade would chip and crack before shattering and the boy falling over on his back, the other who jumped back gaining his feet again in the instance and the third boy almost shocked that everything was unfolding quickly.

It would take two more maneuvers from there, Maigo twisting on his heel and the ball of his other foot to continue the blade through and tear into the torso of the backing boy and then in the same stroke, through the ground and ripping the fallen boy in half. Their blood would splatter out and fill the ground and air immediately around the impact in a horrific scene. The third boy still stayed shaken in place but Maigo had paid almost no attention to the fear in his eyes and in his body, instead reaching with his now off-hand for two kunai to plant into his chest. His eyes would tell his story, the dreams he had and the hope he carried doing these jobs and serving these criminals. Maybe it was a hopeful family he was trying to bring up, disenfranchised in a wasteland and ghost of Sunagakure no Sato wouldn't be easy. Maybe he was trying to find his place in the world and the power he felt in charge here was pushing him to a new level. Or maybe it was just that he enjoyed it.

None of that mattered at all to Maigo, not a single drop of it. Every detail of horror and every ounce of pain would be outweighed instantly in his mind by the pain he caused others. Maybe it was his earned right to dole out this punishment and convict these men to their graves. It only made him wonder in those calm and cool breezes back home, in the nightmares that woke him up at the night, and every other collected moment in his mind on when his own time would come to pay for his sins and the pain he'd caused. This thinking occupied him for a short time, let him fly aimlessly and begin to rage outwards as he did so many times before. Putting his own pain into his fighting and delivering it outwards to them.

By the time Maigo had cut into his third or fourth tent and slaughtered every marked bandit he encountered along the way, all of their eyes began to fade together and their lost stories, hopes, dreams, futures, and goals were gone with them. The blood poured in his wake, almost leaving a trail of his path and even his sandals sometimes being coated well enough to leave sanguinous footprints from each body he left in that sand. His rage was hardly quelled and his forgetful memory was plaguing him of the bodies he left around. Quick doubt entered his mind as it slowed down and seemed to stop around him, his mind was spinning along with his body. It was only a glimpse of that rage and yet, he could feel it having surged in his chakra and the aura around him, like wildfire that burned endlessly.

Even as he calmed down, he felt it himself, smaller than most normal times but still nearly palpable in the air around him. His sharingan twisted around and saw some of the would-be slaves turning and running from him into the desert and away from the encampment. The fear in their hearts and visible in their eyes as torn and ruined bodies would lie around, some more than others and few lucky enough to be left with something as simple as a few kunai in their chests. Turning around quickly, there was smoke and fire coming from various tents with most of them knocked over and victim to the winds of dust and heat that blew through the land. His imagination almost danced with how many bodies he left inside the tents as well as he'd seemed taken over by his imaginationless rampage.

With a sigh, Maigo would turn again and come face to face with his partner, the three tomoe in his eyes spinning briefly before stopping and fading away to return his normal yellow eye color. His breath was heavy and he could feel the fatigue on his shoulders and in his stomach. He wondered if she would think anything of him, if word of how violent he truly was would reach back to that earlier village or not. Shaking it out of his head quickly with a controlled exhale to catch his breath, he would turn the giant sword to his back and strap it into place like he had so many times. His head would fall away from everything, looking downwards and away as he began to walk forwards with the encampment behind him. Not able to leave this site quickly enough and offering a quick nod in mutual admiration to a mission partner who seemed no stranger to doing what needed to be done either.
