It had been rather unexpected for the kunoichi to receive a sparring request from a Kiri-nin, but she had been most happy to accept it. Mizuki was not sure if the Kiri-nin in question was aware of the general tension between the two nations, but to Mizuki this felt like an excellent opportunity to settle some unease with a friendly spar for the amusement of the crowd. She had asked her opponent to choose the battlefield and was given this area in return. A 150 meter long bridge spanned across two of Kumogakure's spires, no safety net below, and Kumogakure's typical dark clouds looming above. Mizuki enjoyed the regular soft wind passing by and would have loved leaving her long, black hair loose, but for this spar she had bound her hair together with a purple ribbon. As she neared the centre of the bridge, her green-blue eyes took the liberty to enjoy the craft of the pagoda for a moment, before she would step inside to meet her opponent.

Since this was more of a fight for amusement rather than an actual mission, she left her armour for what it was. Wearing a silk hanfu of various light purple hues, the long fabric swayed gently as she walked, revealing only her ankles and the shoes she was wearing under it. The long wide sleeves elegantly fell next to her body, concealing her hands without effort if she so wanted, but were measured to reach the end at her wrist so as not to impede her in battle. While the dress was generally rather loose in appearance, held together around the wrist by a separate band of lavender coloured silk, it didn't fail to reveal her general lissom build. Around the lavender band, an additional red rope was tied around her wrist, allowing Mizuki to attach her shinobi belt pouch with kunai and senbon. As usually, her katana was positioned at her waist, allowing her to cut any opposition with a single draw of her blade.

Once her opponent would arrive in the pagoda, Mizuki would bow towards her.

"Thank you for your invitation, I'll cherish our encounter like a treasure. I'm Raiu Mizuki, chuunin, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I hope our spar will teach us both a few interesting strategies, and entertain the masses properly so we may leave with our heads up high."

Allowing Fuyuko in turn her answer, Mizuki would make the Seal of Confrontation once she had done speaking, announcing the beginning of their spar.

Before her battle in the semi-finals would take place, Fuyuko would partake in another battle. This one however in a more friendly setting and merely for the amusement of the visitors of the exams. But that didn’t mean that Fuyuko wouldn’t be excited for another match. It was basically just a way to let go of her abundance in energy and excitement. She didn’t really care all too much for who should be end up facing in the match and so gave her challenge letter to one of the villages higher ranking shinobi to find her a sparring partner.

After waiting for a while the shinobi would return to her to inform that a suitable sparring partner would’ve been found. Further he would also give her directions of which arena she was supposed to go to. Upon arrival at the arena Fuyuko was slightly sad she had not received this arena in one of her earlier rounds. It seemed like an arena that would suit her far better than the ones that she did fight on already. Although the arena in which she fought Yasubei wasn’t all that unfavorable for you, the first one definitely didn’t give her an edge at all. This arena however, despite being very long as well, it didn’t really offer much in its width. But alas there was nothing she could do about it in the first place. For now she would just simply focus on the fight ahead of her. Wearing her Kiri headband proudly around her forehead, a tight fighting T-shirt with a pair of tight pants to go with it. Her outfit had been similar in all rounds that she had done up till this point, easy and not in the way was the way she liked to dress when in a combat situation.

She made her way down the bridge until she reached the small pagoda that was in the middle of the bridge. It was here that she would find her opponent patiently waiting for her. Fuyuko was pleasantly surprised by the welcome that she given by the female. Raiu sounded like a very kind hearted person who had the perfect mindset for the match that was about to happen. Fuyuko would bow as well before she would in turn speak.

I’m happy the invitation reached you, you seem like a kind person and someone that understands the meaning of this battle. I’m Fuyuko Miki, genin and currently participating in the exams themselves. I’m sure I can learn something from this fun battle that we’re about to have.” She finished off with a smile before like her opponent making the seal of confrontation.

Fuyuko would use it to channel some chakra through her body. Coating herself in an invisible layer of lightning chakra that would protect her from any physical attacks that her opponent might throw at her. When she finished channeling her chakra she would dash forward to Raiu and engage in close combat. Keeping an eye out for the sword that she carrying to not get unnecessarily cut by it.

The raiton armor was not seen nor heard, and due to its lack of hand signs perfectly concealed from Mizuki's perceptions were it not for the inkling of focus Fuyuko required to invoke her jutsu. Still, it was hard to say what exactly she had done and as such Mizuki did not go into a defensive measure just yet. Leaving little time for anything else, her opponent instantly aimed to close the gap between them, dashing towards Mizuki and engaging in melee combat. Wishing to test out the genin first and granting herself the opportunity to analyse her fighting technique, Mizuki didn't use her katana and instead opted to deflect her strikes by subtly redirecting their intended striking point or moving out of harm's way and allow her strikes to pass unharmed. Even if Mizuki moved around, she didn't leave the pagoda's five meter radius, seemingly circling around her opponent while she analysed the style. Eventually, since some strikes did come quite close, the chuunin was forced to use a light form of counter-offence to preserve some distance. Those moments, as she turned her defences into brief moments of offence, the raiton chakra channelled within Fuyuko retaliated in kind, betraying its presence. However, despite its proper intend to burn Mizuki, the minor burn wounds the shield supposedly left behind were unable to afflict Mizuki as it were.

"Raiton? I like you already.", she said with a glint of amusement in her eyes. "Please indulge my curiosity and do show me what more you have in store."

Aware of the invisible shield, Mizuki wanted to know if the technique was aimed to counter a melee specialist as hers or if it was more akin to a close quarter protection in general. To figure it out, she quickly formed a series of hand seals of a rather common raiton technique herself, invoking three small javelins of about 2 ft in length around her head.

"Raiton, Javelin.", she revealed its name. "Capable of one C rank spear, or three D rank spears. Mind their speed though."

Going for a first test to determine its rank, Mizuki jumped back to stand at the edge of the pagoda's range and fired off the first javelin in Fuyuko's direction, leaving the two other spears to float around her.

It was clear from the moment Raiu had made her rank clear that it wasn’t going to be an easy fight. While she was confident she could beat a lot of the genin’s that were present in the tournament, fighting a chuunin would be in a whole other league. At the point where she would consider it almost a victory if she was capable of landing a single punch. She had managed to close the gap, but it seemed more like her opponent let her do so. Her strikes and punches easily diverted to the sides as if she was just merely being observed of her capabilities. A small smirk would appear on her face for a fraction of a second before it would disappear again. Raiu striking at her seemed to leave nothing on her, not even the tiniest speck of burn damage. While Fuyuko seemed clueless about what was going on in the match, Raiu seemed to be fully under control of the situation.

The comment Raiu had made about the element she was using made her a little bit happy though, she had always liked the natural thunder and lightning. To be able to actually use it was already special to her, but to find someone that seemed to like as well was for some reason heartwarming to her. But the trail of thought had made her slip in her concentration for a second.

Raiu was weaving the signs for a jutsu of her own, stating the name of it and its capabilities. Leaping backwards to open up the gap to the full 10 meter again before launching one of the spears. Fuyuko prepared herself as much as possible for them to be thrown at her. When one did she dived as fast as she could, using the moment from it to roll over and get herself back up on her feet.

That’s… too fast. I can barely dodge that at this range.” She exclaimed as she scratched behind her head and laughed a tiny bit. “Let me show you something else in return.” She said while performing the dog seal. She parted her lips slightly and a massive bubble of water came flowing out of it which rapidly changed shape to that of a net. “Suiton, Sealing net. The workings you can figure out on your own.” Using the slightly distorted vision to run after it while performing the next 4 seals.  Dog, Dragon, Rat, Ram. Placing her hands on the ground when the sealing net would be out of its range or if it had already disappeared and Raiu would be within the 5 meter radius of the jutsu. “Raiton, Spider web.

While she probably wasn’t that much of threat to Raiu, Fuyuko hoped that she would at least be capable of pushing Raiu a little bit. Make her use enough of her power that would make the fight satisfying for Fuyuko, regardless of the result. However there was already a decent smile visible on her face.

The kunoichi in front of her had anticipated her javelin despite its speed, neatly dodging it within the rather small area of the pagoda even though she complained about it being too fast. Of course, that was the good part about the javelin jutsu. Though Mizuki had only shot one of the raiton javelin, with three of them at her disposal in such close range she could easily have created a diversion with them, following it up with another jutsu or using one of the spears to actually hit her. Though the wounds would be light enough to be endured easily even by a genin, every new wound would only bring victory closer.

"Well, I wouldn't want you to be bored.", she replied chuckling to Fuyuko's comment on the speed. Listening to her revelation, she spotted a dog sealing teachnique, linking it to the suiton in trained reflex, which was confirmed by the jutsu's name following the hand seals. A suiton sealing net? Remembering her own Arc Restraint jutsu, she had imagined the jutsu to be something similar, a means to hold the opponent in place, and had in turn formed the Snake hand seal herself. As her own raiton defensive jutsu took shape, Fuyuko's sealing technique expanded and as it clashed with her defensive barrier completely stripped Mizuki of her protective means.

"Ranged Fuinjutsu...?", she asked somewhat perplexed as she noted Fuyuko slamming the ground for a follow-up attack. Jumping up as the raiton was released, Mizuki twisted her body to have her feet hit the ceiling of the pagoda and remained upside down watching the raiton jutsu fry anything around Fuyuko.

"That was an impressive combo, Fuyuko-san. I had not expected your sealing net to be a fuinjutsu technique. It completely nullified my Polarity Shield. However, I think you're better off using a technique that is not limited to travelling by ground. Perhaps a more flexible technique might help you out. Allow me to demonstrate... Raiton, Disintegrate."

Forming the half-Snake, half-Tiger hand seals, Mizuki stretched out her hand in Fuyuko's direction, shooting out blue tendrils of raiton chakra. Knowing the damage potential of her own technique and its speed on a short range as this, she subtle aimed to the right of Fuyuko on purpose so as to avoid damaging her partner too much. If the girl was perceptive and fast enough, she would even be able to dodge it completely while witnessing its power.

The surprise on Riau's face put a small smirk on her face. It had worked like she had hoped it would. The jutsu was made to look like it was going restrict someone in place, while in reality it was to remove the response to the technique. To see it working the way she had imagined it originally made her feel happy, but it was not the moment to stand still and appreciate her works. With the seals made and the distance closed again she slammed her hands on the ground and released her spider web. Rushing through the floor seeking to hit its target. But Raiu was capable of easily dodging it and jumping to the ceiling and planting her feet on it.

Now looking at her from above Raiu spoke a few sentences. Giving her both praise and feedback on what she had done. Much like herself Riau was impressed with the sealing technique, but felt like the spider web was a little lackluster. Only going through the ground made it a somewhat simplistic jutsu to dodge as she had just demonstrated. Now she would respond again with a jutsu of her own. The name of it didn't make Fuyuko happy in the slightest manner, in fact, it put a small shiver down her spine.

Fuyuko tried to prepare herself as best as she could to dodge, but she was starting to lack defensive capabilities. Her sealing net was one of the only ways she could properly defend against most nature types and having used that already left her with little left to defend herself with now. The tendrils came down rushing from Raiu's hand. Fuyuko tried her best to jump to her left, but in doing so her right arm slightly reached out further to the right, putting it in the collision course of the tendrils. With too little time to react at this distance the tendrils burned part of her skin on her lower arm and hand. Making Fuyuko let out a small cry of pain and flinching her in the process.

When she had managed to pull herself together again she would look up at Raiu again and speak again. "That was... probably just as fast as the javelin, but the range just wasn't big enough this time around. Even if you aimed it slightly off." She stated with a small awkward laugh. "There is one last thing I would like to try out, before I have to end this match so I don't harm myself too much. Besides I don't think I stand too much of chance against you anyway. You're quite strong you know that?" While talking she reached for her pouch and grabbed one of her coins and aimed her arm at Raiu. The raiton chakra starting to flow through her arm, invisible and soundless once again. "Raiton: Railgun." Was all she said as she gave the coin a flick with her thumb and launching the jutsu at Raiu.

Despite the opening, the jutsu hit Fuyuko's lower arm and hand, leaving her singed by the raiton energy. Since this was an Exhibition match meant for show rather than reward, there was no need to follow up her attack with a stun or a swift cut from her blade, so as she heard a yelp, she ceased fuelling her jutsu and waited for the kunoichi to recover from the experience. Fortunately, the girl could still keep up an inkling of a smile despite the situation.

"Disintegrate is a short range jutsu, but its power and its ability to hamper an opponent's movement makes up for that. Combined with your fuinjutsu stripping away defences, it could become a powerful combo that not only damages, but also sets you up for your next attack should this not have been sufficient."

As Fuyuko proceeded with a request of her own and a compliment, Mizuki smiled and nodded to let her know she'd be ready to receive her next attack.

"Your words are most kind. Though strong I may be, you are the bravest one today. To suffer the jutsu of an experienced chuunin and still keep up a smile despite is most commendable."

As Fuyuko took out a coin to prepare her jutsu, Mizuki dropped back to the floor and formed the Dog hand seal to invoke her own means of protection. She already knew Fuyuko used raiton and suiton, so she was fairly certain that any of her own protective jutsu would suffice as few were the shinobi who could make use of more than two elements at the rank of genin. Since Mizuki was not aware of Fuyuko being a member of the Raiu clan, she doubted the girl would have or even be aware of the advanced release that came with it. So whatever the jutsu was that Fuyuko was about to show, the kunoichi was ready to received.

"Suiton, Oceanic Current."

As her own jutsu settled to protect her, Fuyuko flicked her coin and invoked a beam of raiton energy which, at the short distance they were standing, would have been so much as impossible to dodge. It clashed against the thin layer of suiton chakra, it's powerful impact mitigated by the shield to nothing more but a brief pressure at a single, concentrated spot. For a moment, Mizuki remained quiet as peace settled again, her blue-green eyes assessing the girl in front of her. Eventually, she spoke again.

"I envy your technique, Fuyuko-san. A pity you were not born a Raiu, since it fits the base idea of our advanced release perfectly. Storm Release is known for its pin-point precision, its signature jutsu very alike to yours. I'd demonstrate it to you but since the technique is considered as B rank, it would be too much for you to handle just yet."

Mizuki would then sign the proctor who, despite this not really being an official tournament fight, kept an eye out nonetheless. As he flickered onto the battlefield, Mizuki gave him a short bow and asked for him to declare Fuyuko the winner of this battle.

"It was a disadvantageous set-up, having to face an experienced chuunin as a genin, yet she did not flinch nor waver. Her bravery deserves merit."

The proctor seemed rather surprised at the request but nodded nonetheless and proclaimed Fuyuko the victor of the fight, repeating Mizuki's words to the crowd. As they cheered, Mizuki spoke once more to her opponent.

"Perhaps when we've both grown stronger, we could meet again? Until then, remain strong, Fuyuko-san. It was an honour to meet you."

Mizuki would bow,, await Fuyuko's answer and flicker away.

The words Mizuki spoke back in response to her own compliment were nice to hear. It was good to hear that she was perceived as brave. That wouldn't however prevent her from flicking the coin. With a simple flick the coin launched, with Mizuki only moments before it activating another jutsu of her own. Fuyuko knew that wasn't going to hit, even if she would be unable to dodge it at this range, there was ample time to put up a barrier of sorts which would then be more than enough to protect the user from her railgun. After shooting it she lowered her arm again and patiently awaited what would happen next.

Mizuki spoke to her about several things but was surprised to hear her tell the proctor to declare her the winner. While Fuyuko didn't feel like she really deserved it herself, she wasn't going to decline the kind gesture of Mizuki. "I wouldn't mind a rematch with you at some point in the future when we're stronger. Hopefully I'll have closed the gap by then." She said with a small smile on her face. Returning the bow that Mizuki gave her only to see her gone when she looked back up. It was time to visit the infirmary once more.
