Yamamai yawned widely, a few of the silvery moths flicking in and out of her open maw for the moment it was open. On this early afternoon, she was laying back in the soft grass of a small garden nearby the Hyuga compound that she resided in. Training had been completed for her earlier in the day, but both Asa and En were busy with their own separate training today. Though she wanted to take a cool bath on the temperate day, her moths felt as though a lazy sprawl across the lawn was a better call and here she was. Frilly dress fluffed out around her, she layed in a halo of lace and her fine lavender hair that spread out on either side of her. From either side of her head, small twisting horns stuck out above her ears and framing her face. Around her head a few of her friends fluttered about and stretching their wings, occasionally being caught in a gust of her breath as she blew upwards and sending them swirling around for a moment. The sun was starting to set and the antiquated lamps that lined the path started to flicker to life. A cool stillness hung in the air and the sky was tinged shades of pink and lavender with no more than a sliver of the ball of flame visible still. One by one, the moths would flit out of her open mouth and towards they sky, little dots of shadow against the pastel backdrop. The swarm would grow in the sky, a cloud amongst the lamps as they flitted about.

'I wonder if the other two are done with class' Yamamai would wonder to herself, growing bored with being alone in the garden but only desiring the presence of either of her two friends. Slowly she would sit up, the cloud still hanging lazily in the air above her. SCRAWW SCRAWWW! Would ring out from the quiet sunset and send Yamamai's hair swishing around her as she looked out for what she assumed would be some nefarious avian creature. Just a few black shadows in the sky, she yelped as she saw a trio of them dive towards the lamp that her moths flocked around. Immediately she started to call them back, but was not prepared for the speed of their dive and in snapping up several dozen of the small insects. The young girls expression soured from one of fear to one of anger and irritation and the bugs halted in the air for a moment. All turning at the same moment back towards her ebony feathered foe, they would fly straight towards it with none of the lazy hesitation that moths normally flitted about with.

More of the insects would pour from her sleeves as she glared up towards the lamp at the squawking birds and dart upwards in their direction with impressive speed. At first the birds payed no mind to the insects that started to cling to their wings and gulped down more, before suddenly one went from swooping side to side to twitching erratically through the air and barely managing to glide rather than fall downwards. Still a meter above the ground, the moth covered bird screeched painfully as a wing was torn from the rest of the animal and stayed aloft through the fluttering of wings of the hundreds of insects that clung to it. Crimson would splash across the stone path as the bugs let the corpse drop to the earth, stains of the same color visible on the wings and bodies of some of the white moths. After having slain their mark they would flock to the next and perform the same mutilation of that one, and same to the third. Her swarm was tinged red, the fluttering around each other causing it to blend like a pink cloud for a moment with three mangled birds piled in the the center of the pathway. Her face was still twisted in a scowl and she flopped back down on the grass and sulked for as the sun continued to set while her moths feasted on their kill and looped around her head irritably, feeling her emotions and expressing them as well.

Rippa had gone that morning for a meeting with the Hyuga clan. They had concerns with members of their clan that wished to join the new division Rippa had created. Seeking for raised platforms for trackers of their prestige within the division. Simply because of their position within the clan hierarchy they wanted their entrants raised to officer at joining. Claiming it was only natural for a clan of their prowess and capabilities to lead others. It had been aggravating listening to the elders prattle on about their own capabilities. Making demands of him outside of the norm was simply something Rippa had no patience for to begin with. So the negotiations quickly broke down with a flat no. Threats were issued and when Rippa didn't budge they finally stopped bluffing him an accepted their position. Either don't join the division or join and earn their way up like everyone else. They were not pleased with him when he left but he wasn't about to put one clan above another regardless of their history. Not even the Uzumaki would budge him on this one. Office was not earned as a birth right under Rippa. It was something earned by effort and deeds.

It had come to later in the day when he was out of the meeting. He exited the building and turned. Bowing to the elders as they begrudgingly bowed to him in return. Even as they closed their clan compound gates his sharp ears would pick up hushed whispers of a stubborn man and some debate on if that was good for the village or if he was some imbecile bound to lead them to ruin if he would refuse to respect tradition. How amusing it was that they would use such words only when it benefited them. Just like so many others he often met with. Still he stood on the road in a set of traditional red robes. A darker red as it suited him he thought. Nothing too flashy, almost black actually even with the air warming in the spring. His white hair framed his face but was mostly hidden underneath the veil of the hokage hat. Black socks were mostly hidden by the hem of his robes with sandals strapped on tightly under them. A single long sword rested on his right hip. A western style weapon seemingly out of place with his eastern robes. Yet his left hand rested idly on the hilt as he turned to walk back.

He was intending to enjoy the walk for a bit. However he hadn't gotten far when the cries of a murder of crows caught his attention just a little to his right. They appeared to have found a food source. Seeking to collect more than was normal for crows. However it was the season for their eggs to hatch. He supposed they were looking for enough food for their nests. However their cries quickly turned to panic as he realized the moths were attacking them in return. An odd behavior for moths. His sharp eyes picked out the girl controlling them rapidly. He noted that she seemed to be keen on not stopping and decided that she intended to kill these birds. He would sigh as he figured her too young to know better. Quietly he focused his chakra as he raised his right hand. A pulse of energy raced out of his hand. Crackling with a dark crimson raiton as it pulsed over the moths and the birds. Catching them all and stunning them into stillness. However instead of falling like rocks they seemed to gradually sink in the air. As if in a liquid. Still he would approach the birds. Brushing off the moths and with a touch and a slightly green glow the birds would seem to be healthy once more. Healing each of them in turn before tossing them up into the air and letting them fly back to their nest before releasing the moths. Turning to the girl. As if unperturbed by the flesh eating moths free around him.

"I suppose you are wondering why would I do that? Simple. You are near their nests. Their life cycle just happens to be consuming the bugs you produced. Now, I suppose you could have killed them off, however what would have become of their nests? Baby birds forced to starve to death or fall out of their nest in a desperate search for food and die that way. Or if mercy allowed they would be consumed by predators first. Innocent lives shown misery at the beginning because you disturbed their eco system. Do you understand?"

Yamamai pouted and picked at the grass, her moths still flitting around erratically as she looked away from the birds. Had a strange sensation not reached her through the bugs clinging to the birds she would have paid them no more attention until they were gone. Not pain, just paralysis took over their small bodies as they attacked the birds mercilessly and they froze in the air rather than spiraling to the ground. Her head snapping up to her swarm, her heart raced as she saw a man walk towards the suspended crows with his hand outstretched. Taking them in his hands he brushed her moths off them and flowed chakra through his fingers to restore health and life to the birds that were nearly devoured. The swarm fluttered helplessly nearby, small fuzzy bodies tinged red with the blood that the crows had let moments before.

Yamamai's wide blue eyes stared up with what seemed like shame on her face. Though she had never spoken to him before, even she recognized the Hokage as he spoke to her. Yamamai chewed on her lower lip and fiddles with her fingers as moths flew about them, nodding in agreement but to embarrassed to speak in front of him. Her small hand crept up in front of her mouth as she spoke, covering her mouth from view though a few of the flying insects fluttered out between her fingers, “I'm sorry Hokage-sama”, her soft voice would come out muffled from her covering of it, so quiet that he would barely be able to hear her speak. Conscious of who was speaking to her, she stood up from the grass quickly and smoothed down her her ruffled dress before walking quickly towards him before crouching and picking up some of her fallen moths off the floor and shoving them into her dress pockets. After filling her pockets with the stunned bugs she looked up at the Hokage with cautious eyes, like those of a puppy who had been caught in the act of chewing up a shoe. She understood the reason he stopped her, but still at the back of her mind it nagged at her that they had eaten some of HER moths and should not receive repercussions. Who even cared about birds. Good for nothing other than eating, and often perpetrators of trying to eat her own bugs. A small pout was on her face as she felt the loss of the small portion of her hive, but she tried to keep her expression apologetic while in front of her Hokage.

“Will the birds be okay?”, She asked feeling a pang of guilt as the idea that those birds might have their own babies hit her, briefly wondering if other birds would have taken them in like she had been. “I just wanted to stop them from hurting them.... they kept eating my moths and wouldn't stop”, Yamamai mumbled, trying to explain herself all the while keeping her face down and talking into her collar to hide the bugs that would flit around.

Rippa would release his chakra field as she began collecting the moths that had fallen to the floor. They would be stunned for a little longer but otherwise unharmed. His blue eyes shifted to look the child over and he decided that this was likely only one possibility. Since there was only one clan which dealt with the use of bugs in its jutsu so openly within the borders of Konoha. She likely was some mutation of the Aburame if he had to guess. The moths were an interesting mutation he admitted. The ability of flight would certainly make her dangerous in the future. If she was interested in that path. His gaze shifted to his own fingers as they were stained with the blood from the birds. She certainly had the violent streak if she chose to go that route. It was just birds for now but that was a first step in a long road of blood shed. Still as he turned his hands the blood would seem to fade away into his skin. Not even a stain remaining as if his body consumed it like a food source. If they knew his clan they might understand that it was.

He would listen as she said her apologies before nodding. He wouldn't punish her beyond a small lecture. It was simply a childs reaction to something being done to them. She wasn't fighting him on it and appeared to understand that she had gone too far. There were those who had done things that they deserved to be bled like that. Murderers and rapists. The worst the world had to offer. However that was a lesson for a much later time. Not one suited for the current encounter. Still the birds flew back to their nests and didn't appear to have much interest in returning to that pain regardless of the moths still about. They were simple beasts but ones that knew pain and fear if supplied in large enough amounts. Being eaten alive was usually traumatizing enough not to forget any time soon. Still she would finish picking up her moths as he would shift away from the blood stains on the ground. Moving to a clean patch of grass and removing his sword from his belt. Settling into a seated position with his legs crossed. He appeared calm and gentle despite the brief display of power. As if he had only done what was needed and sought nothing beyond it.

She would speak again with what sounded like concern for those she had harmed. He would place a hand on each knee and turn his sky blue eyes back to her. She seemed to have some lack of control as even though she covered her mouth moths would still flitter freely from her. He had met a few aburame and typically they were all about control. Perhaps she simply needed some guidance. Which made him wonder what had brought her so far from her clan compound? Still she would continue to explain herself and she would finish in a near mumble. He would smile and lift a hand to indicate the spot of grass spotted with flowers across from him. Speaking to her regardless of if she joined him or not. "In this world the line of innocent and wicked can be blurred. Do you think they chose your moths out of spite or greed? It is important to realize when something is done out of need instead of want. They needed to feed their young. Their intent was not malicious. People can often be the same. If you are faced with a situation assess before you interact. It might save lives. However in this case, I do think the nests will be fine. Though I doubt they will go after moths for a time."
