A-rank
After winning her match against Masu Fuyuko go taken back to the waiting area. Here she would have to remain until all the matches had finished and the next fighting stages would be prepared. Fuyuko would use this time to try and calm herself down. The woman she fought had managed to rile her up quite a bit, the behavior that she had displayed rubbing her just in the wrong way. Just wrong enough to really push her to the edge of being pissed off. And so she decided to just exercise a bit, use the physical movement to blow some steam of before her next match would begin. It would be unwise and rather careless of her to fight again slightly enraged. It would leave her to open for opportunities, even if she was able to keep track of several things relatively easy. Even that task would become more complicated when her processing power would be distracted by something as trivial as what is now in the past and irrelevant for the task at hand. With her mind set to zero, she just exercised until she felt like she had released about all of her pent up feelings or until she would be summoned for the next fight.

Having calmed down for a decent amount of time Fuyuko started to wonder if the second round would ever start. Eventually her patience would be reward with the proctor walking in and coming to collect her for her next match. As she walked back to the arena she got excited again. It was time for a fresh exciting fight another opportunity to show her capabilities to the audience and show herself how far she had gotten. Upon arrival to the arena Fuyuko was slightly surprised. It was rather low? Or were the stands just really high up? However that did not matter much. What mattered was that there was a severe lack of visibility. She could see at least her full arm length in front of her, but how much further was somewhat unknown. This didn't concern her too much though, she had just the right jutsu that would help her out in this situation.

She patiently waited till the start signal was given. When the signal was given she formed the snake seal, gathering and molding her chakra until she had gathered enough. Slowly releasing it in an endless stream of miniature lightning strikes. Connecting to things within 25 meters of her and sending a signal back, able to map anything within the jutsu's range through this method. With the electric net in place she would dash forward, but not carelessly. She would try to keep the sound of her footsteps down and would back off at the first sight of something moving. Keeping the person, object or jutsu well away from her. Leaving at least 20 meters of distance between herself and whatever would come in her range.

Yasubei entered the field after dispelling the distraction that had happened between matches. He wasn't sure why a proctor would take him from his quarters, but he dispelled the thought rather quickly. She had known far more than he suspected she would, and left him, for the first time in a long time, pondering what would remain for him in his future. Before he had just wanted to participate in the Chunin Exams because it was a novel experience and because he wanted to see interesting ninja. No he had other things on his mind motivating him. A reason to win.

Yasu walked on the field, once again not paying attention to the possible announcers, and putting his whole focus on... the.. arena in... front of him? Well putting his whole focus on the few meters he could see ahead of him. Yasu walked Ogre out in front of him, mildly frustrated because he had wanted to change styles every fight since he rarely got the opportunity to try out new fighting styles against people roughly as strong as he was. He had planned on having Ogre take the lead this time, but he would have to be so close to him it probably wouldn't be worth while, there was also the possibility of them being separated.

Inside it was then: rinse, wash, repeat. Yasu opened up the back of Ogre and climbed in him mechanically and efficiently into his storage unit to obscure himself leaving three bushins behind to pretend like it was puppeteering Ogre. It was bare foot with a long, black cloak on, and a tight, black, cloth mask that extended just past his throat on underneath it. Ogre stood two and a half meters tall, and was wearing effectively wearing the same thing. His sword? held at the ready to batter away any oncoming attacks or persons who might approach. He slowly lowered into a Horse stance, and began waiting.  The fake Yasus stood ten meters away (behind, left from Ogre, and right of Ogre, and would overtly pretend to be manipulating Ogre moving in tandem with him. Each clone was also in a defensive position though, so he could dodge, any on coming surprises. Inside Yasu simply pushed a bit of extra chakra into Ogre, hoping that his opponent would over-expend chakra and use it to search for him.

If Fuyuko came into his sights, Yasu still hiding 10 meters behind Ogre would say, ”Ah, so we begin.”

Having walked forward what seemed to be almost endlessly there was still no sign of her opponent. The only thing she had been feeling with her net was that of the arena itself. No single hint of another competitor in her range. Having covered at least half the arena by now and still no sign of her opponent, it had made her start to worry a little bit. Did her opponent know where she was? She shook her head. That mattered little, even if they did, when they’d do anything within 25 meters of her she would find out. However the thought did make her raise her guard a little, but she moved forward with light footsteps. She had not searched the entire arena yet, so there was no point in looking backwards already.

As she continued walking forward eventually she’d find something that didn’t feel like the arena. The object had chakra running through it, however there was very little of it. Taking a step or two closer the object would be fully surrounded by her net, clearly giving away it’s human like structure. However it lacked the more electrical feeling a normal human would give off. Taking a few more steps closer to the object she would notice the feeling of two more beings on either side of the human-like thing. However these had too much of a chakra signature, if anything, they gave nothing but that. Clearly showing they were clones and not the original. Having found some of the decoys and potentially the main threat to her this fight she would slightly back off again. Keeping the main target within the 20 to 25 meter range of her jutsu. She jumped up on a close by pillar which was about 3 meters high. Standing on top and observing the target, almost as if she was a fox stalking her pray. Grabbing two shurikens in both hands just in case if the clones were planning on coming closer than 15 meters. She would throw the shurikens from one hand straight into their path if they passed that threshold. As long as Fuyuko knew where her target was, she was in control of the match. If the main target were to come closer she would gently back of, not letting the gap become less than 20 meters.

Ogre decided he could wait no more and began circling clockwise around the arena, the clones maintained their previous formation of behind him to the left of him and in front of him. They figured that by now someone would have made their presence known, but they were wrong. This mist really foiled any plan he could have possibly have had for this round. Ogre continued to check his surroundings as he navigated the arena. If an oncoming attack entered his field of view he would block with his sword?, but otger that there really wasn’t much he could do until he found his opponent.

Still though if Fuyuko came into his sights, Yasu still hiding 10 meters behind Ogre would say, ”Ah, so we begin.”

Fuyuko waited and waited, but the bigger figure didn’t really make any movements. With herself not really having a reason for moving about the waiting game would begin. Eventually the figure would start to move in a predictable manner. A normal pace in clockwise fashion around the arena. It became clear to her that the figure did know where she was or the other two smaller ones. However it would become hard to keep track of all of them while staying in the middle of the arena. So instead of walking in front of the taller figure and its two companions she would just keep the one closest to the center under close watch. When they had passed her right side she would slowly walk a little bit closer.

Maintaining distance was the most important thing and if there was sign of them dash towards her she would immediately flee backwards and make a big loop around them again. Not giving the enemy opportunity to gain knowledge about her. However as she started to circle behind the one she kept in check another smaller figure would appear. Walking behind the group, probably the one they were protecting. Fuyuko would patiently wait again until they would have walked enough forward for her to be behind the entire pack. With her now trailing the person in the back she’d walk up quickly a step or two. Getting the full view of the smaller figure within her net. It was then that she noticed something interesting and she realized something. The bigger figure was walking, but there were no strings attached to it. And although this one seemed to be pretending to use the puppet string technique, there were no strings to be felt. So she decided to throw the shuriken from one hand at it. She could’ve potentially used a jutsu, but it would be somewhat of a waste if it were to be but a clone. If the group she wasn’t tracking anymore would come back running at her she’d once again keep her distance. Circling around and keep them at a distance. Otherwise she’d slightly pick up the pace, but not too much, to get the pack back in her view, or at least one of them to monitor once again. She would also re-arm the hand of which she had thrown the shuriken, regardless of the course of the match.

Ogre not really knowing he was being followed must have seemed like a helpless herbivore minding its own business in the tall grass, unknowingly pancing about looking for sustenance. All the while a magnificent predator lay in wait out of sight watch its prey looking for an opening to strike. It was true though Ogre was completely unable to locate his opponent in this match, abd so far had put on quite an unappealing show, simply wandering and wasting chakra. The three clones around him prepared to shift once more before a disturbance broke the previous silence that was smothering the arena.

The whirring of a shuriken set all of them on edge. Their heads all snapped towards the origin of the sound it was a ways off in its origin, but it seemed the lion had decided to pounce. Yasu didn’t reside in that section of the food chain though. He was a scavenger who scrapped and fought for his meals. At the sound of the shuriken being thrown two of the clones would dash making their way max speed (D-Rank) taking a slightly wide arc to possibly  close off any escape route the attacker had planned to use and pincer it. While the clone the shuriken had been aimed at would attempt to start the same thing before realizing that the shuriken was in fact coming for him. He would leap forward into a roll thankful that his attacker hadn’t altered the trajectory of the shuriken mid-throw.

Ogre would follow behind hopefully giving the clones more time to react. Clones that managed to come within five meters of her would shout “here” as they rapidly closed in on the point where she was. They were listening for footsteps knowing that if she had chosen not to run, they almost certainly could have surrounded her with Ogre not far behind. Each of them would have a single hand occupied with puppet strings and a hand holding a kunai. If she chise to run they would pursue her listening in on her foot prints keeping pace with Ogre after they reached the 15 m threshold of the jutsu. As they followed Ogre noted small puddles in the ground where the where the water droplets in the air had cooled against the cold stone ground his feet tapped on. They formed puddles on the ground that he was surprised by at first as he ran through them. They would move in a six meter radius circle so that the edge’s of their perception just barely overlapped. Ogre was prepared this time, and if they were attacked again the clones were ready to move closer to Ogre so he could defend them.

It appears that her shuriken had not hit the target and not long after 2 more targets would come back dashing within her vision range. It were two of the smaller ones, not wanting to wait on the third one to get in range as well. She quickly backed off again. Keeping them well at range still. When they seemingly had stopped their full speed pursuit so would she stop her running away. Only taking steps backward at the same pace as the pursuing group. However Fuyuko didn’t like the feeling of it, now she looked like she was the one being chased. It was time to turn that scenario around. She once again threw shuriken at the group, this time though in a straight horizontal line without really aiming for anything. Quickly performing the ram seal and a copy of herself appeared in front of her. She would get behind her copy and they’d both run straight at the group. Keeping her own movements hidden in the clones ‘shadow’. Hoping that the sound of her own footsteps would make them believe that it was really only the clone running at them.

While they were running at the group Fuyuko would perform the Dog, Dragon, Rat, Ram seals. Holding the ram seal until it was time to release the jutsu. Using the information she’d gain from her electric net she’d jump over her own clone and past the smaller ones when she got close enough. Her only objective was getting rid of the big thing. It was at least by far the most intimidating thing in the arena. She’d jump over it when there was only about 2 meters between her own copy and the smaller figures or if she’d jump and would land within 2 meters of the bigger figure. If there was still a bigger gap then 2 meters after landing, she keep on dashing forwards until the gap was smaller than 2 meters. If the big figure would try and attack her, she first dodge the attack before releasing the Ram seal. When the seal was released she would place both her hands on the ground. A web lightning would surge through the ground, electrocuting everything within its radius. When the jutsu was released Fuyuko would turn around and go after any of the smaller figures if they would survive the web. At the same time keeping track of the bigger figure if it were to try and make a move on her, ready to dodge its attacks at a moments notice.

As Ogre and the Yasubeis were giving chase to Fuyuko, who was able to comfortably keep pace with them, she seemed to almost as if inspired apply a change of tactics. Only two Yasus were able to make it into a range where they were able to see Fuyuko. Arriving within visual range of her they quickly made their way to flank her from the side farthest from Ogre, but as they closed in on her hazy form another hidden version of her leapt out from behind the first. The second ninja almost seemed to come out of the first because of the hazy visual conditions and the angle of placement it was extremely hard to tell.  One of Yasu’s two clones that was engaging the figure that didn’t jump would say, “Possible clone coming your way,” as he watched her crest over his head. His two clones would engage Clone Fuyuko as she ran towards them, one of them going in for a jumping, spinning, crescent kick aimed at the her clone’s forehead and the other circling around behind her before attempting a leg sweep that would be delivered shortly after the kick.

The third clone would leap in the air to meet Fuyuko half way. He pulled back his fist during the arc up so he could land a punch on the genin’s cheek. This would hopefully have one of two favorable results. 1) Fuyuko would be a clone, and the two clones could pass through each other harmlessly, letting him go provide support for the other two clones against what would then hopefully be the real Fuyuko. 2) ahe would connect with Fuyuko’s cheek and surprise her with a lack of force behind the punch as he dissipated in a burst of smoke. Either way Ogre would engage closisng within acouple of meters of her as she landed. Entering her prepared activation range, as she cast the jutsu Ogre reeled back his sword?, hoping to take a small hit in exchange for the much bigger one he expected to deliver. The web of lightning would spread searing the recently repaired flesh of Ogre, much to Yasubei’s chagrin. The monster in front of Fuyuko had never known pain though, so unflinching he would swing down upon her.

“Give flesh, break bone.” Yasu whispered a mantra he never remembered learning to himself from within the sealed storage chamber. The swing, if it missed its target would follow through into a puddle just behind where Fuyuko had been standing causing minor fractures in the stone it struck. He didn’t stop there though. Unimpeded by the surface damage caused by the Raiton: Spider Web Technique, he would swing four more times at the genin, hopefully connecting at least once. Each swing would be wild and one-handed even a graze would manage to dispell a clone though.

Her tactic seemed to be working for the most part. The fake her had at least drawn away the attention of 2 of the smaller ones. With one of the two calling out there was another one incoming. She payed them little attention since she had already cleared the two of them. Her clone would pretend to be blocking from the kick that was coming for her head. But would simply disappear into a cloud of smoke when the two clones had made contact. The real her would continue on flying through the air. She was met by the last 3 of the smaller ones. There was very little she could do about it with her  hands locked into the last seal. All she could really do was hope it was another fake. Luckily for her it turned out to be the case and the clone would simply disappear in a cloud of smoke as she passed through it. Having landed and the big figure rushing at her there was no need for her to dash towards it. When it got within range she release her spider web. Shocking the big figure that didn’t bother to dodge the hit. If anything it didn’t seem faced at all by getting hit with lightning.

With very little time to do anything about the incoming attack there wasn’t much she could do about the rock that was coming straight for her. She decided it was better to block most of the attack and suffer some damage then try and hope she could dodge it all with potential for a lot of damage. And so she would catch most of the force with her hands with her right hand being in front of her left hand. Her elbows locked which would bent more and more as if it was spring when the blow would come. This so that she wouldn’t take the full force of the blow onto her bones.  Despite her best effort to absorb the damage and guide the force through her body some of it would still remain noticeable on her right hand. But it wasn’t going to end there, no the figure was not done with his attack. He pulled his rock backwards only to swing it at her again. Fuyuko did not feel like taking another one of its blows. This time not being surprised by the fact that he didn’t flinch from her technique she would have enough time to respond properly.

The first of its swings she would dodge by jumping a little bit backwards. Giving her enough to time to also stand up straight again. The following strikes she’d dodge by using the figures somewhat slow movements against himself. Using his own motion and simply deflecting them off to the sides. After the fourth strike she would once again jump a little more backwards getting a couple of meters between the two of them. She had decided that there was no reason to pay attention to the last remaining figure. There were no chakra strings attached to the big figure, at least not from the outside. Also the smaller figure looked nothing like the big figure, so the only way for the big one to remain moving would be if the real one was inside of it. As absurd as that idea sounded to her, it was the only logical conclusion. Especially since landing the spider web technique would’ve made this possible clone or transformation disappear as well. While she was jumping backwards she reached for her pouch, grabbing two kunai from and a coin. Throwing the kunai straight at the presumably puppet and aiming for it’s eyes. The person controlling it had to still see somehow is what she was thinking. If she could get rid of the eyes, he wouldn’t be able to see right?

With the kunai flying towards the puppets head, Fuyuko got the coin in place and started to run her chakra through her left arm. Creating the current she needed to fire the technique. She would wait for the puppets response to the kunai before she’d choose to do anything. If the puppet would dodge the kunai in anyway, she would shoot it at him in its path. Being in the air would make it impossible for it to dodge the technique. If it were to block the kunai with its boulder she would also fire it straight at him. If it came charging at her she would jump sideways and fire the technique while jumping. In any of the scenario’s she would aim at a location where it would proof hard for the boulder to reach to intercept the blow of the technique.

As soon as Fuyuko decided to start disengaging Ogre’s last swing would go wide. Turning himself with the momentum of the massive weapon he awkwardly wielded. Yasu didn’t plan on letting Fuyuko slink back into the mist to hide away, and he began going through two sets of hand seals. The fight was growing long and he had already used up a third of his chakra, mostly just trying to keep Ogre in the fight. This time, it seemed he ended up using basically the same plan as last time. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it though. As she reached the cusp of her twoish meter jump Ogre would have slid just enough on the slightly damp stone where he had obviously over extended as his back was blatantly to her. Still Ogre’s face remained emotionless beginning to reach in front of himself, and therefore away from Fuyuko, with an empty hand.

Yasu would have finished the first set of hand seals, and the first couple of the second set. An explosion of cloth signalled the jarring of the storage unit as Yasu burst out of Ogre’s storage unit. Speed. That was the single thing Ogre lacked in Yasubei’s humble opinion. That was no fault of Ogre’s. Yasubei just wasn’t the best puppeteer because he had to control the complex body he inhabited. With this jutsu though Yasu got to show off his own speeds. At a rate untracable by genin eyes Yasumoved from inside the cramped space that was Ogre’s storage unit. An explosion of cloth the only sign that he was exiting the behemoth. A second and third set of strings ready to attach to him from under Yasu’s cloak. Yasu appeared just behind her and to her right, facing away from her, still noticing the light forming on her arms. In the amount of time it took him to get through the third seal of his second jutsu he and Ogre simultaneously poofed in a puff of smoke swapping places.

Ogre immediately displaced the small cloud of smoke as he appeared behind Fuyuko, and his hand which had already extending before the swap was barrly inches away from Fuyuko as he attempted to grab her shirt, arm, abdomen, leg he grabbed whatever was there. Support in Ogre from now two meters away was Yasu just behind Ogre’s Sword? which had fallen to the ground. Though he faced Fuyuko he couldn’t perceive her from this distance, thus the purpose of his second jutsu. Since he knew the downsides of switching his vision, so he simply had to remedy its side effects. He would finish the jutsu allowing him to see Fuyuko’s heartbeat which he corrected Ogre’s aim to should she be in motion. If Ogre caught ahold of Fuyuko he would pull her over his head and slam her into a puddle for C-Rank damage Grabbing four inches above her heart with his empty hand so his massive hand could wrap around her neck.

Yasu would be over half a meter below Fuyuko’s target for the kunai, so they would go wide. Yasu prepared to use a reinforcement technique his hands already making the seal, just in case the light around Fuyuko’s arms was a ranged attack instead of a melee. His cloak had suffered light burns to those who could see it, but his beautiful yaoi hair as always was picked up by the wind as the substitution jutsu smoke cleared.

Luckily enough Fuyuko was able to dodge the consecutive swings from the big puppet. It became very apparent to her that she had a clear speed advantage over it and so she didn’t have to put too much effort into avoiding the swings that came at her. Having managed to create the gap she was now just waiting for the opportunity to release her railgun. As it turned out a more opportune moment wouldn’t come around then the one that was presented to her right in that moment. The puppet had overreached and now turned itself around. There was no way she would give this moment up to land a free hit on it. With her thumb in motion to clash against the coin and release the jutsu a big explosion noise came from the puppet. A shadow coming out from the puppet and flew straight past her, it was too fast for her to notice it, it was just a blob of blackness to her eyes. However it would not escape the senses of her electric net, it would still reveal that it was a smaller figure like the clones she had been observing this entire time.

It would most likely be the real one, if it wasn’t well then, she just wouldn’t know anymore. The scenario wouldn’t make much sense. Besides that Fuyuko felt a rush of unease going through her body. She thought she was save because the ‘enemy’ had turned their back to her. Yet right in that moment they burst out at her only missing her by about a foot worth of distance. There was nothing she could’ve done to avoid a direct hit, at least not at this range. However the scenario that was playing out didn’t matter to her next action, her thumb was already in motion and there was nothing that was prevent her from firing it. So the thumb flicked the coin sending her railgun straight at the puppet, which was still facing with her back towards her, at the same speed the ball of shadow came flying out of it. Landing an easy hit onto it. With what now should hopefully be a broken puppet Fuyuko would shake away her disturbed feelings for now and give chase to the shadowy figure.

She had already used up about half of her chakra just trying to find an opportune moment to enter the fight and get rid of a singular puppet. What were to happen if the opponent was able to summon another puppet. There was no way she would have the chakra to get rid of another one. As much as it would probably end up hurting her, she swung out with her right arm at the target that was only a foot-ish away from her and hop a little to the opposite side, creating a small gap between the pair once again. She would raise her left hand up and form a half tiger seal in an attempt to channel some chakra. She would coat herself in an invisible aura. When that had finished she would dash back in again and just try and land as many blows in close combat as she could until they would give up. She had to win it now or she was afraid she would run out of chakra or stamina to keep the fight up.

OOC: You didn't manage to substitute with your puppet. This is because you simply cannot see the object you're trying to substitute with. Your wording of your actions leave it up for interpretation if you're actually looking at Ogre, but that's not the part which makes it necessarily impossible. You ejecting from the Ogre does. It gives you a -1 tier to perception. Seeing as you only have D-rank perception, this puts you at E-3 perception. At which point, because of the arena we're fighting in, you are unable to even see the hand in front of your eyes. Seeing as the substitution technique requires a clear line of sight towards the target you're trying to swap with it's simply not possible.

On a side note, you're not able to see anything about my arm, the energy for the railgun technique runs through the arm, not around it.

P.S. You wrote +1 perception in your stats instead of -1.

Things didn’t go according to Yasu’s plans from the moment he ejected out of Ogre. As the mist hit Yasubei the particles stop being suspended in the air and condensed on his face. That was when he had realized he couldn’t see and was glad he had started casting his only sensory jutsu. As he was about to land he realized he would be unable to swap with Ogre- who was currently covered in a slightly red aura- and as his gorgeous mane of flowing black hair maintained its inertia when he landed, blowing past him like it was caught on a gentle spring breeze, he came up with another plan.

Fuyuko’s technique went off launching the coin towards Orge at speeds he couldn’t hope to dodge. He had manage to turn a little more between the time it took her prep to shoot the coin and the time it took the coin to hit him. Now the coin as it flew at Ogre would leave a slight ripple in its path, just as Yasu had done just moments before. Cutting through the mist it flew straight towards the goliath where it tinged off his forehead, the force of the blow alone raising his jaw and tilting his head backwards. It was a hit that was all too easy. Yasu could sense that his opponents heartbeat was a little more frantic than before. Noting that that exchange had drained a lot of stamina from both of them, though his symptoms were less visible on his body.

The pulse suddenly began moving further from Ogre towards him, an action that caused Yasu to maybe unnecessarily flinch. He lifted his arms up, only for a relatively light punch to hit him in his shoulder. Then the genin did some thing incomprehensible to Yasu.

‘Does she....’ Yasu thought to himself.

He had placed himself behind her for a few reasons, and he thought that she’d caught on. She backed away from Yasu and into the direction towards the focus of his sensory jutsu, stepping into one of the many puddles that littered the area.

‘She must think Ogre is dead.’

The Tonbutsu: Empty Chestnut Shell was one of Yasubei’s most prized jutsu because it could both save him and his puppet. The chakra that he injected into Ogre just before he used it to eject had the additional effect of protecting the puppet it was cast on. If she was focusing on Ogre she would have seen that after his head was knocked back, it snapped back down and he would close in to flank her, sword? raised and ready to swing.

Though Yasu couldn’t see Fuyuko cast a jutsu, the amount of amps required to burn flesh and puppet would surely cause the puddle at her feet to sizzle. However the scenario that was playing out didn’t matter to his next action, as Yasu was going to use the strongest weapons at his disposal. Yasu held both arms outwards like he was making a cross with his body as the ammo of his water scalpel jutted out of his palms in opposite directions before he quickly crossed the in a 180 degree arc one over the other to deliver two horizontal strikes across Fuyuko’s body. Each would easily be able to cut 1/2 inch into her clothes, flesh, and fatty tissue, but probably cutting the full 3/4 inch depth (not sure how the reduction works). He would monitor the location of her heart keeping that as his intersection point for the two beams, but would continue past until each palm was facing the direction opposite to the way they’d begun in.

‘She must think Ogre is dead.‘ Yasu revisited the thought before uttering the first words that had been spoken this match by either party, “You’re wrong.”

In sync with with Yasu’s attack Ogre would come from behind her allowing her no further away from his master swinging at her with his insulative, stone sword? in a downward slash that aimed to smash her into the ground with her centered in the almost Ogre-sized sword. As he attempted to crash down on her through her vertical axis with Ogre’s sword, her horizontal ones with the water scalpel, and blocking her path backwards with Ogre as well, he was confident in this combo. Nonetheless he still prepared to reattach chakra strings with either set should the main set be severed.

Fuyuko was potentially a little over confident in her last technique. She had assumed that it would’ve been enough to finish the puppet of and for a moment stopped bothering to pay it any attention. That was until it would start to make big obvious movements again. Getting itself back up again and grabbing that large rock it had been hauling around this entire time. It was at this point she also realized that there were still strings attached to the big puppet. She didn’t have a technique left that she could use at the moment to try and destroy the puppet and even if she did, would that leave her with enough chakra to still beat the puppeteer? Instead of attacking the puppet itself, she could also attack the chakra strings and she had just the technique for it. She had already coated herself in an aura of invisible lightning, chakra she might have wanted to spend differently, but it was too late to change that now. She formed the dog seal and started to mold chakra in her mouth.

Having molded the chakra she would instantly release it the moment it was ready. With the distance between the two of them being only about 3 to 4 meters, there was no way it wouldn’t hit the target she intended to hit. There would be no time for her opponent to throw another technique in it’s way. Hell, she probably couldn’t even get the whole thing out of her mouth before it would start to absorb the chakra strings that were attached to the giant puppet. She released the water bubble from her mouth. It rapidly expended to grow to its full potential, not even capable of reaching its full potential before it would touch her opponent. Instantly shrinking again as it did and capturing the chakra strings that came from him. With the strings gone the giant would stop in its tracks of getting to her. Giving her free reign to do what she planned on doing in the first place anyway, charge at her enemy.

And so she did. She was aware of her enemies stance, spread out arms, ready to strike or maybe to embrace whatever might be coming at him? Fuyuko wasn’t quite sure what was up with it, however if it was a stance for an attack, she didn’t mind. Confident in her aura that coated her that it would protect her at least from very harmful techniques or strikes. One could even potentially call her behavior in the moment cocky, but that mattered little to her. She waited for the arms to swing at her, hoping that her opponent would now be overconfident for thinking they could manage to land an easy blow on her. [Footnote] But as it turns out, it did little to nothing. It was almost as if it was just an extremely dull knife going across her skin, maybe only capable of drawing a droplet of blood from her. With her opponent locked in his movement her next strike was sure to hit as well. She had pulled her left arm back and swung straight at his face. She wasn’t aiming at his face, no she was aiming behind it, trying to drive her full fist through his face. It was the best way for you to put in the most amount of strength possible by blow, aim behind the target not on the target. Seeing as the first strike she received from him left little impact on her she would continue her rather reckless assault not giving him time to run away or prepare any technique. Just trading blow for blow, because as long as her armor was up, there was no way he would be able to win.

[Footnote] If it’s ruled that I don’t actually mitigate/lower damage continue the post from here instead. Otherwise ignore the next part.

His arms swung across. Perhaps she might have been to full of herself, put too much faith in her technique. The water jets cut straight into her. Two horizontal lines across her chest. The water leaving blood in it’s wake. Despite it hurting a decent amount her left fist would still fly for his face. With him being locked in his motion in his own motion there wasn’t much preventing her from hitting him straight on. Whether he punch would actually fully connect or not mattered little for her next move. She would still continue on with her assault but would be mindful of the palms of her opponent. Getting cut in the wrong place could proof rather detrimental.

OOC: You describe the hit that I landed on your shoulder as light. Just noting that it's still done with full strength.

Build in a clause in case a battle mod rules that there is no damage reduction dealt. As for how much damage, it gets lowered by a full rank. So since you're dealing D-rank damage it would become E-rank damage. In both cases (with or without damage reduction) you still end up with shocks to the palm of your hand causing minor 1st degree burns.

Ruling:
Chakra Strings are gone, the technique Fuyuko used ceases a jutsu as a whole, not parts of it.
Fuyuko's defensive does reduce the damage of the attack, although since Yasu is a puppet and doesn't have nerves, I'll rule that he is not subject to the stopping power of the jutsu, even if his attacks are diminished due to it.

Yasu’s hair settled as his arms swung inwards during the activation of Fuyuko’s suiton technique. He was impressed with the technique on a conceptual level, pleased by the incredibly aesthetic display. He maintained his focus though. As Fuyuko moved inwards towards Yasu, closing the distance between them, his eyes had fully adjusted.

Releasing his hold on his sustained jutsu he refocused his chakra inwards simply channeling it through his arms and hands. Fuyuko’s punch seemed to not be holding back. His arms, heading towards the center off his body, changed their course. Instead of moving in two horizontal lines, Yasu’s arms would form an X at his wrists, deactivating the water scalpel to preserve water and his intentions. On top of that they still had failed to cut his target -Yasu’s creations were disappointing him one after the other, and he’d need to fix that later.

He wasn’t going in for a block though: If Fuyuko committed to the punch, Yasu’s hands would twist at the wrist to face her arms, attempting to stay within the natural human range, and he would use the water scalpel once more through his left hand rotating it around her wrist and cutting a 3/4 inch deep line up her radial artery from wrist to her shoulder in such a manner that if she were to hit, cutting her artery from at least wrist to elbow would be simultaneous to with that action.

The conditions were sub-optimal vision wise, so Yasu superimposed an image over Fuyuko’s arm after the initial cut began, though for all intents and purposes he could still see her as effectively. He imagined he arm again as time slowed just a little in his head. The skin and fatty tissue peeled away leaving just exposed muscle and veins. He found the artery in question and with an imaginary finger sliding up it, the water scalpel probably just being able to split it open along its length. The cut would be clean and easy to heal, but would cause nasty problems if left alone.

Though in the more likely case where Fuyuko would pull her arm back, and possibly jump backwards too, Yasu would dash along behind her moving forward in a singular somersault planting a hand on the ground before he did the flip, moving like a gymnast at a rate up to his own speed or whatever was necessary to keep pace with Fuyuko keeping his head facing her even if it meant moving at an unnatural angle, the kind of thing he would only do if absoluty necessary to follow her movements. His hand would land in a puddle, and as the somersault peaked, he would suck it into his water scalpel.

Each foot would come down one at a time, as two seperate basic strikes, in front of Fuyuko’s chest to disrupt possible hand seals or the aiming of a coin. If he felt his left leg be stopped, his right leg in its ‘shadow’ would use a held back Legendary Front Hand technique knocking her into the ground before bouncing her off of it no more than a meter away (jutsu specifies up to 35 away).

As his body righted itself he would pull out a kunai in his right hand as he assumed his opponent was left hand dominant, and would continue attempting to keep pace with her if need be swinging his kunai at her carotid artery, the tendons under her arm pit, then across her gut, these were all half hearted as he was waiting for her to initiate hand seals or aim another coin. Doing so would prompt Yasu to change direction and commit to a swing for her hands to cut of an offending finger at the joint, preferably a thumb or index finger. He was fairly confident in his abilities as his puppet body allowed him to effectively synthesize Kugutsu and Taijutsu, at least in regards to his own body.

Her fist landed straight onto his head. Instead of trying to avoid it by titling backwards he met her punch. With her fist firmly planted onto his forehead she kept on pushing as hard as she could. The force of her punch ended up sending Yasubei a meter backwards. And surely a blow to the head like that would leave at least a decent headache. It was a nice piece of information she could get from it. It showed her that his endurance wasn’t good enough, at least not good enough to block the full strength of her hits. There was no time to waste now, with him flying backwards the full distance. Hopefully it would leave her with ample opportunities to strike at him, leaving him hopefully rather wounded in the process. But her armor would wear off, she couldn’t be so reckless anymore. Further, with them being so close together she didn’t really have too much use anymore for her electric net and at this point, it is rather taxing on her reserves.

With Yasubei being sent backwards she inhaled and started to gather chakra in her mouth while at the same time pulling her left hand back and raising it to her lips. With enough chakra gathered she blew her chakra out and a jet of water came from her mouth, as if she was playing the trumpet. There was no way she would miss at this range. If Yasubei would swing or strike at her through the waterjet she would swing out with her leg trying to kick him, hopefully it would be obstructed from vision because of the water jet she was spewing out.

When the jet would finish she would go in go back to hand to hand, but more careful. The swing she let Yasubei exert on her earlier might have been ignorable, however that was only due to her armor being up. With it being down now, there was no way she could show the same level of carelessness. She would strike careful but hard at an opening Yasubei would give her. Keeping a track of his arms however, whenever one of the would reach out for her she’d strike at it. A quick deflection followed up with herself rotating towards the side that was blocked to go in for a hit at the torso.

If it turned out that Yasubei would wait for her to make a move first she’d fake a couple of punches, never following through. To only seemingly out of nowhere twirl in place and use her momentum for a round house kick. She would just stick to this strategy, simple rinse and repeat. She wouldn’t fall in to a pattern though, faking differently at every cycle or striking out differently at Yasubei.  She had the physique seemingly over him, she just has to calm herself down a little and not get dragged up in the moment.

Yasu had been ready for the punch to his face. He didn’t clench his teeth like most people would because he didn’t know to fear the pain. As Fuyuko’s hands went through the threshold of the X that Yasu had made with his arms the water scalpel would cut into her from wrist to elbow in a manner that was evocative of a machine laser etching a design. With uncanny movement he slid the 3/4 inch wound up her arm, until the punch collided with his cheek. Despite Yasu not feeling pain he still wouldn’t lean into an enemy’s punch. The water scalpel would deactivate as it ran out of ammo. Yasu would have drawn blood, but it wasn’t over. This punch wasn’t even the same caliber as Fuyuko’s last punch it moved him a meter back with merely the force of her fist.

Fuyuko would then begin casting a jutsu, the last thing Yasu wanted. ’Did she have no limit to her chakra’, he’d find himself thinking as he began to get just a little scared. He’d never fought a ninja before, and he was thoroughly amazed at the number of techniques she knew, their power, and how much he had to struggle against her. This time he expected the wide reaching technique she had used before, and knew that if such a technique were to hit his core that’d be it the end of the line for him. He hated to do it, but he looked over at Ogre on the ground as he flew back, a hint of regret coating his next action.

Though Fuyuko had pushed him in the opposite direction as Orge. She herself was 3 meters from where Ogre was when the puppet technique was disabled, and she would have slid Yasu one meter in the opposite direction since they were attempting to flank her originally, that is if he hadn’t chosen the moment she went to use a jutsu to substitute. Ogre himself would have fallen towards Fuyuko, when she turned him off, as he still maintained the momentum he had when he had attempted to sprint towards her. Whether or not he got the technique off before the end of the knockback the massive figure that was on the ground behind her would still be within his direct line of sight though. He would switch as soon as she made the trumpet like hand seal for the jutsu at her mouth, noping out of that spot as best as he knew how. –I’m imagining Ogre at her 6:30-7:00–

When Fuyuko cast the Water Trumpet technique, her opponent would be shrouded in a large puff of mist obscuring his form. Simultaneously Yasubei would appear 2.5 meters behind Fuyuko on one knee with his left hand fully submerged in the puddle of water he had planned on Ogre slamming Fuyuko’s face in. His hand would completely absorb the water in the in the wide, concave pool, and his right hand pointed directly at Fuyuko’s back. He would begin firing the siphoned water directly at his opponent’s back, aiming at the height of the lumbar section of her spine following her when she inevitably moved from her current position, and cutting across and around her if she turned to face Yasu simultaneous with her usage of the water trumpet technique delivering a singular long 3/4 inch deep cut the entire way. There was a measure of irony as the water trumpet technique, that the water scalpel was based off of, assaulted Ogre.

Yasu wouldn’t relent though. Obscured by the left sleeve of his cloak he would draw four senbon out of the fabric of the cloak, making a single upward arc after he had absorbed just over a liter of water from the small pot hole. His aim was for her right knee, left hip, carotid artery, and left eye. He was assuming they would all miss, but he was using them more for positioning.

Yasu would close in on Fuyuko for two meters, ending the water scalpel to make a set of hand seals (read: Yasu’s preparing to possibly use reinforcement next post in case of sceery magic), before doing a singular somersault planting a hand on the ground before he did the flip, moving like a gymnast at a rate up to his own speed or whatever was necessary to keep pace with Fuyuko keeping his head facing her even if it meant moving at an unnatural angle, the kind of thing he would only do if absolutely necessary to follow her movements. The meter left between them perfect for the manuever.

Each bare foot, their skin dirty from the old stone they walked on, would come down one at a time, as two seperate basic strikes, in front of Fuyuko’s chest to disrupt any more possible hand seals or the aiming of a coin. If his left leg was stopped, his right leg in its ‘shadow’, and would use a watered down version Legendary Front Hand technique, knocking her into the ground before bouncing her off of it no more than a meter away and a meter off of the ground (jutsu specifies up to 35 away).

As his body righted itself he would pull out a kunai in his right hand as he assumed his opponent was left hand dominant, seeing as to how that was her punching hand, and would continue attempting to keep pace with her if need be swinging his kunai at her carotid artery, the tendons under her arm pit, and then across her gut, these were all half hearted as he was waiting for her to initiate hand seals, put her fingers to her mouth, or aim another coin. Such an action would prompt Yasu to change direction and commit to a swing for her hands to cut off an offending finger at the joint, preferably a thumb or index finger. As he moved his glossy, ebony hair bobbed in the wind caused by his movement like a double samara elegantly dancing in the wind. He was definitely starting to get tired even if his body couldn’t relay that information conventionally to others.

OOC: As I’m imagining Ogre at her 6:30-7:00, his massive body would easily be in visual range, even if he were behind Fuyuko, furthermore he is easily in range of Yasu’s sight being 3-4 meters away at the time if the punch according to Fuyuko. Then subtract 2.5 metersish for Ogre’s massive height. Probs easy. Yasu doesn’t feel pain or flinch from D-rank strikes, so logically this time he could get the substition of just after he gets hit.

Just as she released her water trumpet a cloud of smoke appeared in front of her. The trumpet instantly blew it aside and it revealed that the giant puppet that had been behind her was now in front of her. Even though she had deactivated her net, she knew exactly where her opponent had gone to. He was now a few meters behind her back where the puppet used to be. Just after when her trumpet would stop spewing water and she started to turn around she would get hit by water herself. A stinging sensation that started just to the right of her spinal column and would be dragged around her as she turned right round. It was annoying for sure, but definitely something she could handle. She had only turned halfway so that there was as little surface area for him to cut at.

She was starting to feel exhausted. Her reserves down to only a little more than a fifth of what she started the battle with. The techniques she would need to win the battle with she still wasn't able to use just yet. She had to stall for a little longer, long enough for her jutsu's to become available again. "Now! Attack him now from the back!" She shouted loudly. There was no one besides the two of them, but him knowing that was unlikely seeing as he had a hard enough time just finding her in the first place. It was merely a distraction, but hopefully it would divert his attention away from her even if it was just a split second. Regardless if he was actually distracted or not she would start to run. Run as fast as her legs could carry her. Within a second or three she would've completely escaped his vision again. But she wouldn't stop there, no she would continue at least for another seven seconds of straight sprinting.

When her legs would finally stop moving forward, she turned around facing the direction she came from. Reaching for her pouch and holding three more kunai in her left hand before she would bent forward and lean with both hand on her thighs. Her breathing was heavy and fast. Deep and quick successive breaths to try and feed her body with enough oxygen. Her eyes rapidly moving back and forth to make sure that Yasubei wouldn't sneak up on her again. It would be easy for her to spot him , there was nothing obstructing her vision besides the clouds that were already doing so. However it would proof a little bit harder for him to spot her. She had her butt against one of the pillars that were in the arena, so if he would come at her from straight ahead it would proof rather difficult to make out it was her standing there as well. On top of that he'd have to pass at least half a dozen of these pillars to get to the point where she was, making him hopefully a little bit careless about them.

Having caught her breath a little bit, she now reached for her pouch again with her right hand as well, holding a coin in the palm of her hand with it clenched closed. She got herself up right leaning fully against the stone pillar. The noise from her breath lowered so she can carefully listen for Yasubei's footsteps. If at any point he would appear within her visual range she would swing her left arm upwards, releasing the kunai in vertical line at him. Trying her best to mask her swinging against the shadow he'd see as well as keep the kunai hidden for just that bit longer. Hopefully this would lead her to stall long enough.

The cut that Fuyuko would take would be a nasty one. Being delivered by a ninja with S-rank knowledge in Iryo-Nijutsu he was exclusively going for wounds that should be eventually debilitating but healable. Yasu wouldn’t mess up such an incision from clear line of sight, and Fuyuko not having moved to dodge the initial hit gave him at least a two inch by five inch target. The initial hit alone would pierce just over half an inch into Fuyuko’s back before hitting the third lumbar vertabrae, doing nothing more than scratches to the actual bone itself. The water scalpel was a cutting technique, so he would simply let his wrist tilt slightly, opening the incision down a few inches, and exposing the fourth lumbar vertabrae, as Fuyuko, having decided to move only after her brain registered the stinging sensation, turned the cut would extend at least five inches alongside the right of her back and around her side. Yasu would swipe his hand to the right extending at least two more inches around her newly exposed right side and stomach before he ran out of puddle water. The wound couldn’t wait to start bleeding heavily.

Fuyuko would yell, "Now! Attack him now from the back!" These were one vs. one fights, so Yasu couldn’t imagine she had help. Furthermore if she had a substantial clone technique, she would have used it ages ago, and he figured that she had to be to low on chakra for a nature transformation bushin. He quickly would jump about a meter to the side as she ran away, calmly watching as she left a trail of blood behind her. He would place his hands in two seperate puddles that he had seen in the area earlier in the fight absorbing them in a few seconds, as he and his opponent vanished from each others sight.

Yasu would stand and briskly walk past Ogre. His soft feet dampened the sounds of him walking as he would lean slightly to close the Sand Stalker’s eyes maintaining his stride as he did so. “You did very good, Ogre, this was my error,” the master quitely whispered to the puppet he left in his wake. Yasu would pull up the hood on the thick, black cloak he wore, taming his very aesthetic hair, before jumping up four and a half meters onto the first pillar on his way to Fuyuko the jumping onto the next closest one he could see two meters away and three meters taller, putting him out of visual range of the ground by two and a half meters. He was using the Supernatural Walking Practice to keep from slipping on the wet stone of the one mter diameter columns of rock.

He would make hand signs to prepare Item Reinforcement, you know just in case, then he’d be motionless, waiting, and hoping that his opponent didn’t have enough chakra to heal herself. His heavy cloak remained still as it resisted the movements of the clouds in the canyon That spme might call a breeze, but comparatively incredibly weak compared to the sandstorms in Kaze no kuni that this cloak was built to protect Yasubei from. Meanwhile Yasu’s cut would’ve torn through an array of muscles on her right side, so even simple acts like running or tensing could strain the already nasty wound. If she couldn’t stop the bleeding soon, she would be in trouble while Yasu would hide in the low hanging clouds catching his metaphorical breath. If she for some reason came back he would be listening for footsteps waiting to shoot blindly at their rhythmic tap-tap-tapping sound from above.

She waited a bit longer, but there was no sign of Yasubei at all. She put her kunai back in the pouch for now and instead grabbed a scroll out of it. She didn't really have any bandages on her, but they would have to do for make-shift. Raising her shirt up enough to unveil the wound she had sustained from the water scalpel. With the wound laid bare she started to wrap the scroll around her lower back and eventually tucking the end of the scroll under itself so that it would all stay in place. She lowered her shirt back over it and grabbed her three kunai once again.

With her wound 'tended' to, it was time to think. What was the best course of action, she had no clue how far behind Yasubei was or if he followed her at all. While her plan was good initially to get some distance between them, she was also left clueless now, where was he? "So what now..., can I still finish this fight? I can sustain through the pain... but I'm starting to get quite exhausted." She thought to her self as she looked to the palm of her right hand. It was all kind of shades of blue and purple. After staring at the coin that was in the palm of her hand was when it finally hit her. Her face flared up again with passion. She was here to proof herself, she wasn't going to give up when things weren't looking to be going her way. She was going to give it her all and it wasn't her that would call the end of the fight. She tossed the coin up into the air and caught it between her thumb and index finger. With a smile on her face again it was time to seek out yasubei.

She wasn't careful with her footsteps while she would talk loudly at the top of her lungs. "Thank you! For giving me time to heal up!". She was sure enough that even if he hadn't followed her he would hear her words. With the words spoken she'd go back to tip-toeing her way back, but not in the same line she used to get here in the first place. She'd first take a few steps to the right, perpendicular to her initial line. When she would be at the five meter mark she'd rotate again and walk back in a line which was parallel to the line she had just ran. Her eyes peeled for her surroundings, hesitant whenever a pillar would show up in her range. Making sure Yasubei wasn't doing what she had been doing earlier. The prowl was on again, however this time, both predators would be blind. If she would spot Yasubei, she'd take up the position she had earlier when she fired her railgun technique but this time with her right arm pointing at him. Ready to give the coin a flick whenever it would be required.

Yasu deemed that it had been silent long enough, and that any immediate danger had probably passed. Having regained his composure he would recast the clone technique. In conditions like these it would be better to simply take the offensive, even if it was just a little. He switched hand seals, crossing his fingers together before switching back. An illusory puppet hopped down from the pillar as Yasu reinvested in the hand seals from before, barely moving. He would find his quarry soon enough. Bare feet would land on the ground noiseless as he would hear the voice of his opponent off in the distance yelling, "Thank you! For giving me time to heal up!"

The puppet that was firmly on the ground would turn to face the direction that he heard his opponent yell from. He’d go to the path near the blood staying within a 12 meter leash of the pillar he was bound to. He would wait for his quarry to come back the way she ran off. Her chakra slightly lower, and her wounds having healed. “Your welcome!” The leashed puppet would yell in response possibly giving away his spot on the ground 10 meters away from the pillar he jumped off of.

‘One needs neither loyalty nor devotion, but simply to become desperate.’

The puppet would press his back firmly against a pillar, so it could hide in its shadow. It would move slowly surveying the area,  and when Fuyko eventually came into his sight he would say, “Hey. Give up. There’s no way you have enough chakra left to cast that justu. This fight has been very aesthetic, so there is no shame in forfeiting.” He looked like he was ready to dodge if he even saw her flinch as he pointed to her coin-wielding hand.  If she moved closer than four meters, he would threaten her with his water scalpel.

The clone would dash to her left about 10 meters, walking 10 meters to her left and only 1 meter behind her. So the pair would continue their cautious path forward. A yell back from Yasubei could be heard, making it seem like he choose to gave her this opportunity. To her however, it felt more like he either couldn't keep up with her movement or he was too afraid that she'd ambush him from the fog. She wanted to taunt him but chose not to, the element of surprise was more important than a provoked person that might be able to resist it all together. So she kept tip-toeing forward. Another pillar would finally come into sights again, not seeing any of its details yet she did hear a voice call out to her however.

It was yasubei's voice, it came from ground level from the direction of the pillar. She stood there motionless as she listened to the words that were spoken to her. They didn't make too much sense to her, which jutsu could he possibly referring to? She wasn't in range yet for any details to be visible, at least if they had the same perception level. However the last words he spoke were almost laughable. Surrendering now? After having pushed herself so far? There was no way she was going to surrender. Was he potentially getting desperate, starting to fear her? She knew she had landed several hits through different means, but it appeared that they left little impact to him. Speaking of which, when she had managed to hit him physically, something felt off about him, but she wasn't sure what it was. Him talking would be enough information for her clone to check the situation out, moving even a little further away so that it would barely graze the edge of its range before it would loop back to the pillar.

"Well... you see, I just don't know when to give up. Does that scare you?" She just replied with a truth and a question that might still end up provoking her enemy. Seeing as he could see her but she couldn't see him her surprise element had disappeared. Now she just had to stall a little bit of time. It would seem that she had managed to do just that. Another figure would appear in the vicinity of the pillar, hopefully it was her copy, she just wasn't quite sure. But it was a copy non the less. It made no noise as it approached. The clone, using its different angle and having been able to easily sneak into the 5 meter range could clearly see Yasubei's position. It ran in and went for a punch, knowing full well it would disappear, but the poofs of smoke would give the real her all the information she needed.

If the person that was standing by the pillar would make a move, any kind that would be enough to reveal it's location to the real Fuyuko, she would swing her left arm releasing a singular kunai just ahead of its path. Intercepting him if he didn't try to avoid it. However any sign of avoidance would be met with another kunai thrown at him that would once again intercept him. Till the point where her own clone could catch up and still manage to land a hit on him. Was he to dash towards her she would throw a wide right swing at him, using her own momentum to spin around her core as fast as possible and using the kunai in her left hand to stab him. She would find out if that was the real one, one way or another.

If the Yasubei at ground level were to dash towards the real Fuyuko, her clone would instead spend time looking at her surroundings if she could possibly find another Yasubei. Standing so close to the pillar she realized that even at this range she couldn't see the top of it. Deciding to jump a little bit she would soon see that after about roughly 7.5 meters of pillar it would get a rather disfigured figure. It could've been the pillar itself, but it might as well be the real one, but she wouldn't act upon the information she gained, instead opting to remain hidden for the time being.
