Hyde had been managing to keep himself fairly busy with work at the clinic. However it was all simple work. Mostly clerical, Their filing system had been lacking before he arrived. At least now he had made some dent into it and computerized a catalog of how to find everything. Now it was just a matter of time before he had it all filed and what was he going to get for it? A thank you likely but nothing more than a kindly worded letter to the hospital once his hours were done. For now he was at his apartment and reading his notes on some of the more interesting cases that came through. By interesting it was a subjective term. Of bruises and and scrapes a concussion was the case of interest for the night. A young man that had beamed his head missing a jump between buildings. Trying to impress himself or a squad mate likely.

However he would only have a moment of reading to himself. The subject not really enough to invest himself on. Really they had just reduced the swelling and monitored him overnight, He had been fine by the morning. He was still settled in his bed and flipping through pages when there was a knock on his door. His blue eyes would shift to the doorway a moment before he would set the pages down and shift himself to his feet. Moving quietly across the floor and listening to the door a moment. There was only silence on the other side. He would wait a moment before turning the knob and opening the door just to the chains length. There was no one outside but a letter fell from where it was jammed in the doorway. Quietly he would kneel down and collect it before closing and locking the door again. Curios of what was in the letter.

Idly he would move into his kitchen. Finding his way over to the counter and selecting a kitchen knife from the selection there. He didn't cook much but he had the supplies to do so all the same. If nothing else he held the appearance of organization. His blue eyes would scan the tan envelope as he spun the knife and provided a clean cut under the flap at the top to separate it. Spinning the knife once more in his palm before sliding it back into the wooden container in its selected space with the rest. He would move over to the counter fully before leaning his right hip against it. His right hand sliding into the envelope to pull out a sheet of folded paper. The envelope discarded onto the counter top for the time being so he could unfold the paper and look within. It appeared to be an official order for his first mission.

It wasn't unusual he supposed. He had been graduated for nearly a week now and hadn't so much as requested a job. He was far to preoccupied with his medical research. However it seemed they had not forgotten their investment into him personally. It wasn't much of a mission to begin with. Something D rank with a low pay out and virtually no risk. Something the genin of the village were commonly recruited into. He partially felt himself above it but who was he to deny the village its rightful claim to utilize his skills they honed? Regardless it appeared to be more of a time consuming mission for minimal security reasons anyway. No border patrol or spy mission on an enemy encampment. It was a simple patrol around the village itself. One might even wonder if the sensory running in the village negated the whole point of genin patrols. Of course, a set of eyes might be better used if someone was trying to trick the sensory field.

Regardless Hyde was aware this wasn't so much a request as someone insisting he earn his position. Even if he was still a fresh genin graduate he was going to be put to use. That much of the message was clear to him. There was work needed doing for the village to prosper for everyone. So he would sigh and fold the official orders before setting them on the counter. He was growing rather fond of his abilities as a shinobi already so he supposed he could at least do some grunt work as expected of him. Still he wasn't eager to have his time wasted so he would do the patrol quickly and perhaps get some of his own Intel on some village groups. He would need connections once his abilities were a little more honed. He had hopes to have those connections with the village but having ties with low lives could pay off. After all not all targets were easily found when being hunted. Eyes and ears were more expensive if you held no connection or hold over them. A headband opened some doors but less and less the less official your doors of choice were. If he was after bad people those doorways likely would remain closed to him with just a headband and a kunai. Nor was he eager to torture and torment his way. He needed to get a key now so he would use this mission to observe. He would report of course any abnormalities but a lot of what he learned would be for him alone. Still he would smile a little at the thought of pursuing his agenda. The village may own him but he would find profit where there was money to be had. He just needed to earn his way up in rank to achieve that.

With a smile Hyde would set apart dressing himself for some more stealth based research. A suit was good for drawing attention and all but it sure didn't do him any favors when moving along to roof tops and watching those below. Overhearing what was to be said and taking what he would from it. So he would move to his closet and pull open a drawer behind his suits. Selecting a pair of black pants and a black turtleneck that fit him well enough. A little tight on the waist and legs but he didn't mind. The turtleneck he moved over the lower half of his face while his headband he tied around his forehead. Lastly he moved under his bed to grab a pair of padded shoes. Silence while running was always nice. Slipping into those and tightening them around his ankles he would finally be satisfied as he got up and looked in the mirror. All he could see was his hands and his eyes. Gloves would come in time but for now they were still being crafted and designed. He didn't expect any combat that night to begin with. Still he would strap his kunai pouch to his right thigh and slip his one kunai and three shuriken into it before locking the door behind him and heading out.

Hyde would move quickly up to the roofs and run silently along them for a time as best he could. Keeping low to attract less attention. His already small form was easy to hide shadow to shadow and once he was out of the residential in a little under a block no one looked up anyway. He was careful to move around and listen here and there to what was said. Picking up gang chatter here and there but hardly anything useful. There was mention of a fence someone intended to use with a name. That was useful for him he supposed. A fence was usually easily intimidated in comparison to a gang leader. More squishy to the prodding. He would patrol the entire length of his orders of course and even give in a detailed report of where he was each half hour and what was observed which was mostly nothing. Just disgruntled civilians here and there. No signs of intruders or sneak thief's. The village was peaceful for the night which only made him feel like the job was more pointless...for the village anyway.
