Personality: Onikuma is a highly intelligent creature that is fully capable of speech, and though he is wise and helpful, he tends to be moody. He claims that he was not always “Onikuma”, and that he was actually a man before someone put a curse on him to permanently transform him into an animal. He received the name Onikuma when villagers in Konoha discovered him scavenging for food in dumpsters and ran him out. That event elevated his status to a legend in Konoha; he is known as the demon bear who can walk and talk like a human, but only a select few have ever seen. He doesn’t remember his actual name nor where he came from, and very little is known of his past, which upsets him. After Issei found him hiding out in the forests of Hi no Kuni, Issei offered to help find a way to reverse the curse, so Onikuma decided to tag along and they’ve been friends ever since. Issei jokingly calls him "Omocha" (玩具, "toy").
Techniques: Onikuma has never had any combat training in his life as a bear nor in his life as a human, so he does not know any techniques. All he has are his claws and his teeth, but even those are pitiful in battle, incapable of doing anything more than negligible damage. Issei hopes to train him, in due time.
