Sunagakure - The Gates

Beneath the prolonged gaze of those jet-black eyes, the whole village seemed to be surrounded by a natural defense and the only visible entrance was given by a narrow passing; the entrance was formed between two towering cliffs. Many words could be used to describe a place such as this, but the one which stood out mostly upon the Uchiha’s head, was hushed on a barely audible tone “Primitive.” which was quite somber at its core. An untrained mind would be easily fooled by the simple aesthetics of this village; however, there were many tales written down in books, about the bravery and well-trained shinobi of the Village Hidden by Sand. It was remarkable that they managed to build themselves quite a reputation and receive the title as one of the strongest countries, considering the hostility which these lands provided.

The land underneath radiated warmth between the Uchiha's toes, leading towards the birth of a question while those eyes continued staring at the village. “How on earth were those grey sandals designed to withstand such heat?” was the inquiry which stood upon his mind, proving that the man was in a jesting mood. Being the first time here, it gave the silver-haired man the impression that he was standing upon a gold paved land; the feeling itself was quite majestic, something never felt before. Only a few days passed since the borders of The Land of Fire were crossed, and surprisingly, there were no unfortunate events which to perturb the journey of this man. Perhaps, it was only a coincidence that there were no missing-nins on the road which brought the shinobi here, or simply, they wished to avoid someone wearing the ANBU attire. With no mission to bring him here, Tenzō’s reasons were not yet known for the outside world; but in all honesty, something definitely did not seem right.

"What was his PURPOSE..."

A question which probably stood upon the lips of those who saw him standing for at least an hour on that dune of sand; perhaps, he was looking for a certain shinobi, since that was the main activity of the ANBU of each village. But in reality, Tenzō was preparing himself mentally for what was about to occur; many dark thoughts kept invading like an army, and self-control was the only thing in their way. Doubt and fear was there, since only an ignorant person would not pay any kind of attention towards them; not in this case, the Uchiha was quite aware of their presence.

This country was not at war, but the so-called walls which surrounded and formed the perimeter of the Village Hidden by Sand was heavily guarded by several high-ranking shinobi, with one of them standing out from the rest of them. A man which left the impression that he was somewhere around his forties, dressed with a different attire than the rest of them; most likely, that shinobi was placed in charge of their defenses during that time of the day. With a few gestures and words, the leader of the military force gathered a small force of only three shinobi, informing them that they needed to figure out why was a man spying upon their village. As such, they started making their way towards the ANBU which kept a safe distance of approximately 200 yards from the village. All three of them stopped at no more than two meters, looking at each other with wonder as there was movement from the ANBU. The tattoo on his shoulder gave away that only hint, but his eyes were closed and the masked was shrouded by a hood in that moment. One of them took the initiative and greeted the Uchiha before demanding “State your purpose, ANBU of the Hidden Leaf Village.” on a husky tone, whilst folding both hands across his chest.

Right after those words were finished, small particles of sand had started dancing in the shape of a very small tornado underneath Tenzō’s feet while the man lunged forward against the Jōnin with his arm fully extended. With both eyes now opened and fingers spread widely, the military solider was grabbed by the upper part of his flak jacket. Without having much time to think and react, the Jōnin was pulled against his own will with full force by the ANBU. Shortly after, Tenzō’s mask was revealed and seemed to be quite different from your standard porcelain mask; however, the most shocking thing was the blood dripping from it. It happened fast and it was quite hard to see, but the ANBU cocked his head slightly so that he may deliver a firm headbutt directly against the Jōnin’s forehead, forming a crack in his forehead protector from which blood gushed out.

Tenzō’s mask laid intact. Covered in BLOOD.

The second shinobi appealed to his basic instincts and jumped back, while the third one pulled out a kunai from his holster before aiming to slash at the Uchiha’s throat; however, the ANBU was ready to respond. Without much thinking, Tenzō released the first Jōnin from his tight grip before ducking to avoid the blade, which ended up slashing only the thin air above the man. In that moment, the Uchiha grabbed the other Jōnin by the wrist and gave it a quick jerk which forced him to release his weapon, and with his free arm, Tenzō caught the blade by its handle before shoving it inside the man’s leg. With dull and jet-black eyes, the Uchiha gazed upon the third shinobi before letting out a few words “Summon your Kage. My patience will only last for ten minutes.” on a calm tone, whilst releasing the Shinobi's wrist, letting him fall to his knees against the ground. All three of the guards ran towards the Village Hidden by Sand, to deliver the message towards higher authorities; hopefully, bringing out the Kage of this land.

Time was ALMOST UP.

Self-control gave the man plenty of patience, a quality forged while working in Konoha’s Police Force, polished with the training received once he transferred towards the ANBU corps; mastered, with obedience while being under the command of the Ouroboros heir. Heck, the man meditated for an hour just to clear his mind, to think deeply about the consequences of his following actions. And all of this turned him into a man of word. Waiting fully for the time to pass by, hanging on to his word before even thinking of proceeding further with the plan. The Uchiha was entirely lucid at this point and wished to avoid any kind of unwanted outcomes, usually the type which comes under the definition of collateral damage. Not that he cared much for their lives, but mostly because he understood the simple concept of love and family, even though the world was cruel enough to take away his beloved sister.

Despite having all of that understanding, Tenzō was not going to back down. The clock was ticking fast in the heat of the moment, and the silver-haired man was truly disappointed that this village did not show any initiative of having his simple request fulfilled in time. Their Kage was either a busy person, or wished to cower in its own chambers. Ceaseless dark thoughts have started perturbing his mind, hinting that they were either ignoring him completely, or preparing themselves for what was about to come. Preparing? No, that could not be it. Even while not being an ANBU, the Shinobi avoided staying in the spotlight, straying from any kind of attention as it was seen unwanted and unnecessary by those jet-black eyes. He considered himself, just a man amongst other men. But perhaps, their nature was just prudent. Nonetheless, that well-toned chest started inflating before pushing out a deeply sigh between those two pale lips, letting the small breaths crash like waves against the iron mask.

It was terribly hot, and that unpleasant sweat which dripped down those long strays of hair that reached the upper part of his thighs were pure evidence of this fact. Small movements could be seen at his right hand, with cracking noise accompanying them. Just like a rattle from the tail of a venomous snake, coming from each individual finger as the man loosen up the joints; single-handedly, without using the other hand. And once the silence kicked back in, the tall figure arched that wide back of his before checking if the equipment was well-placed, without overlooking the clothes; treating everything seriously, the man was armed to the teeth. With everything in place, the Uchiha realized that only a few seconds remained and those were spent gazing towards the direction of the village, but none was seen with the symbolic clothing of the Kage.

And so, it BEGAN.

Scrawny fingers drilled deep into the sand once he leaned down, and those well-defined muscles began to contract alongside those veins. With a thrusting push the man started galloping the land like a savage boar, heading with a single destination in mind, the Village Hidden by Sand. Running caused his blood to boil up, but paled when compared to those charcoal eyes which emanated no light; total darkness, against the fading of the sun. Preparations for the encounter were starting to take place, but the Uchiha was fast enough to close the distance between himself and the village, and once the gap was closed, the man came to an almost abrupt stop before leaping into the sky. Shurikens were whipped against him, but those eyes moved rapidly and followed each one whilst a screeching sound of metal occurred which hinted that the man unsheathed his sword to counter them with swift slashes.

Dust was pushed aside once the silver-haired man landed on the wall, and the Shinobi came marching at him; if they were to use techniques in such a tight place with such a dense amount of people, they could risk injuring others. One after another, they took out their weapons and started rushing towards the single man, but Tenzō did not remain idle after landing. Blade was back in place, and those legs quickly shifted towards the left in another attempt to gain speed with the rest of the body following them, and within seconds a man appeared in their path. With his blade forward, the man trusted towards the Uchiha which pivoted to avoid the pointy edge of the blade. Realizing that he missed, the Sunagakure Shinobi was going to attempt another threatening strike, but the only thing that he saw was the ANBU’s hand which was coming bare naked against his face. A heavy sound followed shortly after, as the Shinobi was pushed down against the warm soil; desperate were the shouts which came out, since the impact was high enough to break the spine.

While doing so, three men surrounded the leaf Shinobi and one of them was coming from behind. With his sharp hearing, Tenzō picked the sound of his footsteps and immediately turned against him whilst letting those scrawny fingers clench tightly the handle of his blade. With a quick draw, the Uchiha deflected the attack before following up with a trust against the man’s chest, letting the edge run smoothly into his torso. A twist was given in that moment, to allow the blade an easy entrance and to cause more pain whilst he stood up, forcing the toes which belonged to the Sunagakure Shinobi to kiss the ground for one more time before the man was lifted with the blade. The sheer display of power instilled hesitation into the other two and made them think twice about their attack, but the ANBU quickly swung his sword to release the body which started rolling down the cliff. Without further ado, the Uchiha leaped once more and landed on the rooftop of a nearby building; a towering one which was at least 40 feet high.

“KAZEKAGE!!!”

A deep voice hallowed between those lumps, which they called home. Instilling fear into the hearts of the weak, causing a shivering tremor to go down their spine.

Midorii

This was not a situation that Midori had expected to deal with. Sat at her desk, Midori stared ahead of her at the four ANBU that stood before her, waiting for instructions. A lone shinobi was attacking the village without provocation, and had already caused casualties. From what could be told, there was no identification other than the appearance of an ANBU of Konohagakure no Sato, yet she would not instantly assume it was an act of war from the neighbouring village. If the act was one of war, it was unlikely to have been a single shinobi, for that would be too unreliable for such a major act. Her eyes held fury as she studied the map on the desk, marking out the location the assailant had arrived from, and the location that he was last spotted. Two squads of Jounin were near the location, with another moving back and forth to keep Midori informed. It wasn’t long until the Tsuchikage was supposed to arrive, so why did this have to happen now?!

Slamming her fist onto the desk, Midori stared ahead of her once more, the blue of her eyes standing in stark contrast to the grim look upon her face as she came to the conclusion of the course of action to take. Voice bitter as she gathered her thoughts, Midori spoke up, a stern cruelty escaping her lips as she began her orders. “I want 13 squads of ANBU to go to the target! If you can, de-escalate the situation, and find out what the fuck is going on! If the target does not reply and simply resumes the assault, you are to attack – if you can, subdue so that we can bring them in to questioning and avoid risking a political uproar, but do what needs to be done if the assailant refuses to stand down. Our priority isn’t to kill, but to ensure safety – if any of the ANBU are injured or at risk, evacuate them, and replace with the nearest available jounin!

As the ANBU nodded, Midori continued on. “The injured shinobi are to come here, where I will treat them as quick as I can so that they can return to battle – as for the civilians, genin, and chuunin, we are to evacuate them to the Coliseum! The dome area acts as cover, and it’s a large enough space for everyone… If you see a jounin shinobi on route, inform them to either aid in evacuation, or aid in the defensive. I want to be kept informed, both on the casualties, and the location of the attacker… Now go, dismissed!” she stood up, swinging her arm out, and in an instant, the squad of ANBU that she had been talking to dismissed.

Without hesitation, Midori moved over to her window, pushing the doors open wide and stepping out on the balcony to watch, eyes gazing out into the distance, facing the direction that the attack was last reported to have come from. Shadows flickered from roof to roof, ever heading towards the location. His location was near to the main entrance, and strategies entered Midori’s mind. The next instance that a report would come in, she wanted to have a strategy prepared to send back and help cease the assault. Her mind went through the possibilities, and all Midori could do was turn her back and head back in to the office, leaning over the map and studying every detail.

The coliseum was at the far end of the village, so she felt secure at least in the knowledge that civilians would be able to stay safe should the attack begin to move. Fifty two ANBU agents were currently on route to the position of the attacker, each one of the highest skill she could select, in squadrons of four – as was expected of ANBU to operate in. According to the report, the man had been demanding Midori herself to arrive. Was this an assassination attempt? If that was the case, the assailant was a fool, opting to orchestrate a head on assault of the village to attack the heart. Yet, perhaps there were other reasons? If the attack was done to weaken Sunagakure as a village, then the attack was explainable. If Midori were to confront him, then the assailant would have a chance to cut the head from the village, and subdue it from any progress that was being made. Yet, if Midori were to refuse to meet with him, the man could spread doubt. Lower morale by questioning Midori’s authority, questioning her strength, and questioning her courage.

Once more according to the reports, the fighting style of the man was close quarters and offensive, and had also yet to use a jutsu. Perhaps it was out of a wish to conserve chakra, or due to not wishing to reveal any techniques. That mattered little. So far, people were already dead, and while his skills were an unknown factor, then all Midori had to do was rely on any mistake made – whether by sand skills, ninjutsu, genjutsu, weaponry, or medical assault, the man would fall. She did not expect him to surrender, and so prepared herself to have a cadaver to send back to Konohagakure no Sato. Any day now, the Tsuchikage was to arrive, the least thing she needed was to have her forces weakened due to a fanatical assailant.

It was only a matter of time, then, for the reports to come in, and the casualties to hopefully cease. If all went well, then the ANBU would be able to do diplomacy and get the fool to stand down. If not, then it would be a return to the ages of the bloody sand, and Midori would have no mercy upon the man that had opted to murder and invade her home, her people, and her family. No longer was Suna struggling from internal issues, as the evacuation and retreat began, as did the counter assault on the criminal.

Okay so, dont get why this is even an issue. You cannot under any circumstances waltz up to a village, kill some anbu, threaten a kage no matter how high rank you are and think its okay. I have not heard a single good thing about your activites Tenzo, especially with this nonsense. Saga Administration has deemed this thread void. Tenzo, you will be contacted promptly. This is also a notice to everyone, please don't do this sort of nonsense. We cherish our members and their creativity but have a semblance of reality. Thank you.
