Kuno

Kuno

D-rank
Mission Details:

If there was one thing that Kuno Uchiha knew about is mother Eishi, it was that she knew how to run a shop. His other had been a shop keeper for most of her life. Even back before Kuno and his sister were born, before she had even married their father, she had been the owner of a small flower shop in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. She had decided at a young age that she did not want to join the ranks of the Konoha kunoichi, instead opting to live a peaceful life of a normal villager. This upset her parents, who were both very proud Uchiha that believed all members of their clan should fight to prove their supremacy. They disowned their daughter, leaving her to live on her own while they left the village and moved away to Kirigakure no Sato, where they believed the strongest warriors of the ninja world resided. Oddly enough, this did not phase Kuno Uchiha’s mother, who continued on with her life happily and content with what she had.

When Kuno, his mother, and his sister were forced to flee their home in the Land of Fire, Eishi was sure to take as much of her money as she could carry before they fled, for she knew exactly how they would survive in their new home. Upon their arrival, the Uchiha woman wasted no time in acquiring as many mundane goods as she could in order to start up her own shop. It was a modest business at first, but over time Eishi was able to turn enough of a profit to invest in other items, such as cheap armours and weapons. With this increased inventory, the Uchiha family shop became big enough to attract regular customers, and before too long, the trio had settled in nicely to their new home. This was not an easy process however, and it required many a day to be spent by Kuno and his sister helping around the shop. They would rearrange items and displays, clean the small building, and even help out with the customers should the need arise. Where most people would find this work tiring and laborious, Kuno enjoyed few things as much as this.

And that is where Kuno was found this afternoon after training hard all morning. He had not been late today as he usually ended up being due to his tendency to lose track of time while training.  His mother was very appreciative when he had showed up on time, thanking him with fresh sushi that she had bought and quite a markup due to their Village’s distance from the ocean. He ate it quickly in the back room of the store, asking her how her day had been, to which she replied rather strangely. “Oh, nothing too special. Though I saw an old friend from back home.” Her voice faltered for a moment, and Kuno sat up straight in response. “It was very strange seeing them. It reminded me very much of the old days, back before we left.” Once again, her voice trailed off as she was lost in thought. Concern washed over Kuno as he stepped forward and placed a hand on his mother’s shoulder. He had seen her like this a few times before; she was regretting her decisions again. Almost every time she thought of home, her thoughts would return to an endless sea of hypothetical situations. What if she had asked differently? What if she had kept her mouth shut? Kuno pulled his mother closer into an embrace. “Mom, this is out home now. We’re happy here, are we not? You don’t have to feel bad. You made the right choice, okay?” He leaned back and looked at her, the tears that were her eyes now wiped away onto his shirt. She smiled up at him. “Thank you Kuno, you always do know what to say to make your mother smile.”

The heartfelt moment between the two people was interrupted by a crashing sound coming from the store proper. Stiffening immediately, the young Uchiha reached out and grabbed hs miao dao that was leaning against the wall by the table. “That did not sound like Kumi.” Him mother held her breath and nodded to him, before he slowly creaked the back door open. He peered into the storefront and watched as a young man, maybe a couple of years younger than himself, was in the process of shovelling a handful of kunai and knick knacks into a bag in his hands. He was short, and had black hair that was buzzed down to be only an inch long. A scar ran down the left side of his face from his ear to his chin and his eyes were a dark brown.

Putting a finger to his lips to ensure that Eishi would be quiet, Kuno rolled into the store, drawing his blade as he did so. The man must have heard him unfortunately, as he spun around to face Kuno with one of the kunai from the store in his hands. Kuno’s blade was quick, but not quite quick enough as the man was able to block a diagonal upward slash from Kuno’s right side. The clang of metal on metal rang out thought the store, and Kuno did not let up at all continuing his assault with a torrent of slashes toward the man’s upper torso and legs, not giving him even a moment to preparing himself. The man lasted longer than Kuno expected, but sure enough, the young Uchiha found an opening when he managed to get the thief to block a swing to the side of his head. Grinning, he slammed his fist into the man’s gut, causing him to double over. As he was bent down, Kuno drove his knee into his nose and sent him sprawling backward ont the ground. He stepped over slowly, dragging the blade of his sword along the floor before he stood diretly over the nearly unconscious attempted thief. “That’s what happens when you try to rob an Uchiha.”

They were the last words than man would hear, as Kuno drove his miao dao through his eye, ending his life. Wiping his sword on the body, he sighed and glanced back at his mother. “Don’t worry mom, it’s taken of.” He then stood and dragged the body onto the streets before heading off toward the authorities to deal with the ramifications.
