Specialization: Free choice in primary or secondary, Senjutsu in tertiary, which is restricted to Otters only.
Elements: Suiton in primary or secondary

Kawauso Clan (Revamped) HhU72Pp
Clan History: The Kawauso Clan was said to have originated from the actual mythical creatures of folklore called Kawauso, which were tricksters that would fool Humans in similar manners to Kitsune and Tanuki, though the truth is actually not far off. The Clan began through a single, arrogant, power hungry Jonin Shinobi attempting to learn the Otter Sage Arts, though would fail. Despite the Nature Chakra generally turning those that can not handle it to stone, it would have a completely different effect on this Jonin, whom of which would instead transform into an oddity of sorts, an Otter-like creature that still maintained the attributes of a Man, such as being bi-pedal and having human-like hands and feet, though unlike a man, everything else looked like an Otter.

For years, this monster, whom of which still retained his consciousness, lived in an extreme state of depression due to his appearance, knowing that he could never meet his beloved ever again, not like he is now. Instead of returning to his village he would instead remain isolated deep within a forest, where he lived like a savage. Hunting, fishing in the rivers, hiding himself from passerby, he began to lose his old habits, instead replacing them with a love of fish and of swimming, rather than being the lover of smoking and power that he once was. If anything, as he lost himself, he became more open, and as he looked like a monster, he became more humble. What he didn't know was that he didn't fail to absorb Nature Chakra correctly because of his own mistakes, nor that the effect is had on him was accidental, but instead, as a means to teach this man about humility and force him to lose what made him strong in the first place, the Alpha of the Otter Sages, the Great Otter Sage, had made it this way, tricking the man into learning Sage Mode incorrectly, and forcing the ensuing effects upon him.

Having the Jonin summoned, the Alpha would see the development he had made, evaluating the years he spent in solitude, and the wearing down it had done to him. Instead of before, where the Jonin demanded the Great Sage to instruct him on Sage Mode rudely, as if he owned the right to learn it, this time the half-Human greeted the elder Otter with respect, humbling himself to the point where he bowed down while on his knees, head touching the floor. After conversing for a while, the elderly creature would decide that the man learned from his punishment, though there would be no way to reverse the effects. Instead, the the creature would raise its paw, leading the man down to the great river where, to his surprise, his wife would be waiting. In the man's ignorance, his wife has remained in this area the entire time, hidden away by the Otter Sages so she can learn about and come to terms with what had happened, and as a result would be ready to accept him in the condition he is in when he is finally ready.

From this man and woman came a Clan of individuals that held the attributes of Otters to varying degrees, and would mainly survive in the forests nearby villages as nomads. Some would move into villages and begin spreading there, though most preferred to live the rural lifestyle, still true to the ways their original ancestor lived. Seeing how the Clan has grown and developed, the Great Alpha Sage likes to keep in contact with the clan, sending out word to those it believes is worthy to come and seek them out, and learn Senjutsu as a result.

Kawauso Clan (Revamped) Y4syLuV
Kekkei Genkai Name: Otter Attributes
Kekkei Genkai Description: Due to their otter-like attributes, members of the Kawauso Clan appear to be slightly more animal-like than other humans. Having longer canines, clawed fingers, and even a tail, members of this clan would seem to be more wild in both appearance and actions.

-The tail length each Clan Member has equals to two-thirds of their height. The tail would scale with the clan member's strength and act as an extra limb of sorts. It's not as flexible as a monkey's tail, of course, but due to the mix of Otter and Human genetics, it can act like a normal limb, just like any other. The tail can do blunt damage and it reaches at a maximum two-thirds of their height, while at the minimum 1/2 of their height.

-The claws and teeth can do passive damage in Taijutsu attacks, allowing for cuts and piercing attacks that scale with the character's Rank, beginning at -1 to their rank(A Genin would have E-Rank teeth and claws, a Chuunin with D-Rank, etc.) while the teeth scale with the character's rank by -2, meaning that they do not become proper weapons until the user is C-Rank, where they'll do E-Rank damage. The claws can reach up to one and a half inches in length, where afterwards any damage scaling beyond that must be done with the aid of a technique or jutsu that amplifies the length. Both claws and teeth can do up to the maximum amount of cutting and piercing damage per each Rank, though the claws naturally have a length limit of 1 and 1/2 inches, and the teeth can't go any farther than an inch. Members of the clan should remember that "up to" does not mean it does that damage no matter what, such as if said claw or tooth grazed the skin. It wouldn't do the maximum amount of damage then. The damages reflect the item guidelines, with the claws maxing out at C-Rank and the teeth at D-Rank.

-Due to the fact that Otters live in cold waters and developed hairs that trap air that keeps them dry and warm temporarily, has a 1-Rank resistance to the effects of cold and frostbite-based jutsu. This has no impact on the physical effects of ice release's attacks, such as being impaled with an icicle.

-When on or in water, members of the Clan receive +1 tier in speed thanks to their tails, which act as rudders of sorts.

-During sage mode, members of the clan can hold their breath underwater for double the time. This is because sage mode makes them more in-tune with Otters, giving them more of the animal's natural abilities.
Drawbacks:
-Because of the clan's relation to the Kawauso, whom of which are known to be trickster spirits that take the form of Otters, they must take this special characteristic without any counter-balance:
Spoiler:

-Members of the clan receive +1 rank of damage from all Raiton attacks due to their high affinity with water.

-Members of the clan cannot learn Raiton as an element. This is because of their affinity with Suiton and how often they had surrounded themselves with water, making it so it would just backfire and harm them.

-If the tail is lost, members of the clan receive a -25 to their chakra pool until it is reattached by a PC through transplant or in order to regrow a tail they require either a PC Medic or Medical Ninjutsu as a spec. This is because the tail is a limb in itself, and as a limb it has its own chakra network and chakra points, so losing it interrupts and even places a damper on the flow of chakra in their body.

-If the tail is lost, they also lose the beneficial +1 tier in speed while in or on water, as they lost their rudder. In fact, due to not being used to being without their tails overall, members of the clan suffer -1 in speed while on or in water.

-Because their clan origins involve a teaching in humility, and because of their close relation with the rumored Kawauso, members of the clan have to do 2 extra missions above the requirement in order to rank up, as to prove to others that they're not untrustworthy tricksters like the Kawauso, and to prove to themselves and fellow clan members that they still remember their lessons in humility, showing they're willing to take on an extra burden for the sake of others. These missions must be of the highest rank available to them.

-Because their hairs are adjusted to deal with waters and cold climates, members of the clan suffer -1 tier to speed in heated climates, which includes Sunagakure. They also suffer -1 tiers in speed against a sustained jutsu or technique that simulates a heated climate or environment, though not against a typical Katon attack.

-because the Kawauso are related to Yokai in folklore, "exorcism" techniques were developed against creatures like them, making them become weak against Fuuinjutsu in general, as they were never able to find a way to counter these exorcism seals. Because of this, Fuuinjutsu has +1 rank higher in effectiveness against members of the clan, as their close relations with the Kawauso has made this weakness naturally cross over to them as well.

Thank you for your patience! I'm new, so please ask me any questions you might have about my modding!

State whether the tail can deal damage using your Strength stat, or if it has a Natural Weapon damage attribute; if there’s any sort of reduction, state so. I’d prefer a maximum tail length here, just for standardization purposes.

How long are your claws? State the specific amount of damage they, and your teeth, do at each rank. (It can vary, as the values listed in the Item Guidelines are maximums.) Consider the length of these natural weapons in your maximum cut/piercing depth.

Please replace your wording for your third trait with the following, for clarity.
“Due to the fact that Otters live in cold waters and developed hairs that trap air in a layer to keep them dry and warm temporarily, a Kawauso has a 1-rank resistance to the effects of cold and frostbite-based jutsu. This has no effect on Ice Release’s physical attacks, such as being impaled with an icicle.”

Conditional +1 is A-OK, just be aware that it counts towards your passive 3 stat boosts.

The Sage Mode tack-on is fine, but you seem to have not completed your sentence.
-

Was the -22 chakra for loss-of-tail intentional? Seems like an odd number; can you round to the nearest 5?

-1 to cold-based attacks balances the +1 versus Raiton, and inability to learn Raiton.

Conditional +1 to speed balances the conditional -1 to speed. Though, if it does, the +1 will probably have to count towards your passive 3 as opposed to not.

Bonus to holding breath is balanced by your SC and increased mission requirements.

Your drawbacks are nice and thematic, but the ones that apply in battle are conditional at best. I’d like you to add one or two more ‘active’ drawbacks, as such. Currently, it’s just the free scaling natural weaponry that needs balancing. Perhaps things otters are naturally bad at and just modify for a human in combat?

Edited. I chose not to choose to specifically state the damage of each rank as I feel that that would hurt people when they fight with the claws/teeth. I'd rather keep it as an "up to" or a maximum stated only, as situations do come up where the user only grazes the skin, or can only partially tear into it. Overall it feels that if I specifically state each rank of damage for the claws and teeth rather than pointing them to the item guidelines they themselves will feel that no matter what happens that damage will be caused no matter what, while in the former it can be stated that it can do up to the maximum amount, depending on the situation, so instead of stating the specific damage, I stated the maximum rank both can reach.
