Ryu was taking his time nowadays. There wasn't a lot of competition this far east in the slums. The big gangs were middle ground on a turf dispute on the west but that was nothing he had any hand in. Nor did he want to be anywhere near it. He was familiar with some of the players involved. Most of which were names everyone knew not to cross. Hell some of them people locked their windows and doors when they passed through. Again though it wasn't his problem. He ran a small corner of the far east sector. Big enough to state he had influence but small enough he and his small group could guard. His position as a rival gang in a smaller and weaker gang infested area had proven profitable. Instead of taking from people who were scraping by, he would simply raid a rival for their supplies when he needed them. Yesterday had been just such a raid. They had jumped a delivery of cash from some drug deals too close to their turf. Claiming the prize and profits before beating the snot out of the drug dealer. If there was one thing Ryu didn't tolerate it was someone pushing that shit under his nose.

For now he was walking down the street. It was hot out for the day and the air felt dry as usual. He was wearing a simple pair of jeans with a hole in each knee that partially covered a pair of boots. His belt held a single kunai on the small of his back. For a shirt he had a simple wrap with most of the chest open revealing some prison ink stretched across his shoulders and side. Over it he had on a thin black jean jacket with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. A tie and a necklace hung loosely around his neck. On each hand was a fingerless glove with rags tied around his wrists. The symbol of a jackal displayed on each rag. His hair was tied back with a wrap holding most of it in. His blonde hair a little long and unruly as it caught the breeze easily. Still his blue eye would scan around him as his purple eye was hidden behind an eye patch. He wasn't comfortable with having mismatched eyes as he thought it too likely someone would accuse him of having stolen a dojutsu. More Drama he didn't need.

Still he was on a mission. In between his lips was a half smoke last cigarette from the carton. Ryu would inhale and exhale before pulling it from between his lips as he paused around a corner. He watched as more people he didn't recognize were setting up camp in a secluded spot no one had claimed. It looked like it had been meant to construct a school perhaps at some point. A couple of abandoned half constructed park toys off the the side stripped of anything of value. More refugees from the west. Their eyes spoke of exhaustion and fear. He would suck on his teeth audibly as he watched them. How many would crowd over here before the turf war spilled too far? How long did he have before one of the big gangs went looking east for resources. He needed to be prepared. Still he would return his smoke to his lips and take another drag before continuing down to the Shop and stop store. A restaurant that sold other supplies. It was a no fighting zone. Several like it were spread across the slums and even on the west side it was respected. Most just said the owners had pull with the main village and if anyone messed with them, Anbu stepped in. No one wanted that. Still he flicked the butt of his smoke into an ashtray before entering the store. The bell above the door dinging as if to announce his arrival.

He had been spotted several days prior, and the rumor mill had started creaking almost immediately. The gossips were spreading that shit like wildfire: that nameless kid was back, fresh out of prison and looking for work. Not the shady shit he used to be on, but legit work. Those who knew his skills were already coming about, sniffing around and trying to lure him back into his old ways, but Xio wanted nothing to do with them. The male was trying to fly under the radar this time, and not get caught up in some shit that he did not need to be involved in. There would be no bodies turning up in the coroner's front lawn like before, no massive theft from people's houses in the affluent sections of the village. Nah, this time, it would be different

So, as to why he was in this current location was not a mystery to him; he needed to speak to someone who was supposed to be there, the owner of this particular shop. The old man that owned the place had kept an eye out for Xio when he was younger and more hard headed, gave him his first 'job' and score, and often when the young male needed it most, advice. This same man gave Xio a place to stay his first night as a free man, and the money get himself an inn room until Xio was able to pay for it himself via doing missions for the village. Now that Xio was ahead in his savings, he felt it was time to pay back what he owed to this man.

As the bell of the shop rang and the door opened, Xio could be found seated at one of the few tables in the back that were set up in the establishment, nursing a bottle of something he took a liking to while locked up in the prison. It was a simple drink, some sort of rice wine that was able to be made cheaply and in plenty of supply. While in prison the materials to create such a drink were few and far in between and thus making it a luxury that only the 'rich and influential' could enjoy, on the outside, this stuff was bottled and sold for next to nothing, and so the young male was drinking what he could when he could. His current bottle was served to him on the house by the owners daughter, a shy girl with a fancy for Xio, as the young male waited for the owner himself to show up for the evening shift.

As for Xio himself, he was not wearing anything too special; he was dressed in a simple black T shirt over top of pants made of a strange material that seemed to mute the sounds of normal movement. His feet were shod in brown leather boots. At his waist was a pouch that contained a single kunai and three shuriken; meager weaponry really, but it was all he needed. Time in prison and a life on the streets taught him to use whatever he could get his hands on to fight -- not that he felt like he would get into one here. Apparently, according to the old man, his shop, and others like it were designated safe zones; there would be no fighting within the bounds of the zone, lest you be banned from all others and turned away.

Fingers drummed the top of the table at which the young man sat, grey eyes locking onto the persona who stepped through the door of the shop. There were not many other patrons in the shop at the moment; each were seated in duos and trios, some playing cards while others sat drinking up at the bar. None of them seemed interesting to Xio, but to be honest, he did not care for them. So long as they kept shit civil in this place, he would be cool. If anyone was here to start shit with the old man, Xio would step in, property ban be damned. As far as he was concerned, this old man was family in a sense, and that was something Xio did not really have, but he would hold onto it dearly.

I wish a ninja would, like a Senju in this bitch.

Ryu entered the room as a couple of tables turned and glanced at him. Rival gangs from his area. His eye shifted right over the one person he didn't know in the joint as he tilted his head back and returned to the gaze of the two tables glaring at him. People losing turf to him. They knew who he was and he knew they couldn't handle his level of shit. His eye met their gaze as he stared them down until one of them spit and they all got up. For a moment it looked as if Ryu was going to have to take them on right there. One of them pulled out a nightstick and another reached for his bottle before the last two of them grabbed their shoulders and shoved them to the door. Walking passed Ryu without a word. His eye following them as they escorted their younger out. He would of taken the fight outside anyway out of respect but this was better. He had business here and even the other gang would be forced to wait outside to his time table. A small show of power that they would have to wait on him. Still the glance back at him as they went outside held something within it. Something told him they thought they would be prepared.

The young lady who happened to be the owners daughter watched the whole ordeal nervously before she would watch them leave. Moving over to shut the door and shuddered. His eye shifted to her as he let out a sigh and his shoulders softened. He knew what was coming. For such a timid girl she had a wicked pinch. So it was that she came over and her hand moved up to snatch him by the ear. He winced as she pinched and lowered him down to her level. She spoke in a low whisper but one that was aggressive enough to be heard for some distance. "Damn it Ryu, Every time you come here someone else is pissed at you. If it wasn't for you supplying us you would be banned by now. You are going to attract the attention of one of the four kings. What will you do then Mr. tough guy?" She would sigh in exasperation before releasing him and moving behind the counter. He would straighten and rub his ear before moving over. Not really caring who listened in on this particular subject. The shinobi wouldn't bother with under covers and no one was an informant in these parts. Snitches get stitches.

"Yeah well, as per usual I will keep the fight outside. In one minute they will all be knocked out and I will be on about my day. Those fuck nuts got nothin on me. Anyway, Your brew will be ready tomorrow. For now I need a small front on the payment if that's alright. Out of smokes and I could really use a pack. Keeps my temper in check ya know?"

She would roll her eyes before looking nervously back at the racks of cigarette brands. She was in charge while her father was out but Ryu had built up some reputation. He was a pain but he kept their booze shelves stocked. And they were fairly low. Not to mention his prices were less expensive than legit companies from outside the slums. Most of which wouldn't deliver out to the slums themselves. After a minute Ryu would tap on the counter with his index and middle finger impatiently before she would sigh and grab his pack a newports and toss them at him. Pouting in his direction. "Alright fine but you deal with whats outside quickly. And no jutsu. Again, we don't need any of the four kings poking around. They are not afraid of shinobi."

The bottle was lifted once more, those grey eyes watching the events that unfolded before him; A staring contest between two tables and the persona who just walked in. The tension in the air was thick, but Xio kept sipping at the bottle before him. It would seem that several of his fellow patrons had  a problem with the man that just walked in. Xio did not know the history between all of them, but he could guess that the newcomer was yet another criminal; law abiding citizens did not frequent spots like this. Shinobi did not come to places like this unless they were looking for information, and even then, they came transformed to look like someone else. They were not stupid.

But still, even as Xion continued to sip his drink, it would seem that things were about to take a turn for the worst; one of the seated personas produced a night stick to brandish, and yet another reached for his empty bottle and stood up. Xio could only shake his head sadly; were these ninjas actually about to lose their fucking minds and try something? They were in the presence of a monster that hid himself in human skin; If these ninjas wanted to start some shit, Xio had no problems with throwing all of them out on their asses after taking their heads from their shoulders. It would seem that a throw down was inevitable until other members of the party, those who seemed to have more sense than their comrades, grabbed thier shoulders and shook some sense into them. One by one, the groups departed, eyeing the stranger in the doorway as they stepped past him. No words were spoken as they passed each other, but Xio came to a realization as the stare down transpired, who ever this guy was, he was important in some fashion.  Maybe not in fighting skills, but influential in some manner. Perhaps he worked for some one with a lot of power in the village, or perhaps he was someone with a lot of power.

Xio did not give two fucks either way.

He kept quiet as he watched Mayumi, the owner's daughter,  walk over to this man and snatch him by the ear. Xio could not help but chuckle and almost wince himself; Mayumi was infamous for her pinches, and Xio himself had been on the receiving end enough times that he never wanted to go through them again. As the young girl pulled the man down to her level, he could hear her clearly speak to him, despite her whispers.

"Damn it Ryu, Every time you come here someone else is pissed at you. If it wasn't for you supplying us you would be banned by now. You are going to attract the attention of one of the four kings. What will you do then Mr. tough guy?"

Oh, so this man was the owner's supplier? Hm, that must have been it. He was influential around these parts, then -- perhaps why those other 'gentlemen' were not so keen on seeing him enter, this Ryu persona. Xio filed a mental note of this -- perhaps the information would be useful to him at some point? Maybe, for now, Xio simply continued watching as Mayumi released Ryu, and walked away from him, sighing.

For a long moment, Mayumi simply stared at the shelves, perhaps contemplating her situation. It was not until this ryu persona tapped the counter in a bit of impatience that she finally retrieved a pack of cigs from it and tossed them in Ryu's direction.

"Alright fine but you deal with whats outside quickly. And no jutsu. Again, we don't need any of the four kings poking around. They are not afraid of shinobi."

Xio remained silent,  simply wanting to see how this event would unfold. Now that this man had what he came for, would he go outside and 'handle business', so to speak? Xio was curious as to what made this man who he was. Was it physical power? Money? He was a supplier, so he had to have sort of money lying around. But Mayumi spoke of jutsu; was he a nina? Another ninja gone bad? Or just some drop out genin with slightly above average skill, making a profit off those less fortunate? Xio was not one to knock someone for their hustle, but he liked to know things about those who's named carried weight.

Information was a vital thing, especially in the slums of Sunagakure no Sato.

Every shut eye ain't sleep, and every good bye ain't gone.

Provided that this man walked out to handle his business, Xio would follow him just to watch. He would remain by the door way of the shoppe, watching and waiting to see what would happen. His life was not swayed by the outcome of this match; though, he would do as he saw fit to keep the fighting from spilling inside of the shop, that was all.

Ryu would catch the pack of smokes before smiling and bowing his head to the girl. Quietly he would turn as he packed the pack against his wrist and looked outside. The windows were stained and dirty but he could see well enough. More men had gathered than the couple of tables that had left. Even as he unwrapped the selephane and tossed it in the waste bin he counted them. Ten in total. That certainly was a few to deal with without the use of his jutsu. He pulled out a single cigarette and placed it between his lips before putting the pack away inside his inner coat pocket. His blue eye looking over the group calmly before he stepped out the door. A spark from his finger lighting the end of his smoke before he took a drag. The sweet feel of the smoke hitting his lungs was rewarding and yet it didn't cover the regret of having come out today. Having his smokes was all well and good but the timing of them was terrible. Still he would fight and they would lose. It was just how things rolled in the slums. Either way it was irritating to endure.

Still as his feet his the bottom of the steps leading into the sand a gust of wind brought up a small breeze. Sand rolling between him and the men in the street. His right hand lifted to his lips to pull the smoke out of his mouth and tap it to the side to knock off the ashes. Placing it back in his mouth he looked to the side to see a peace of rebar sticking out of the wall he reached out and gripped it. He could feel it was just stuck there. Someone having played around and stuck it in the wall. Still useful to him. His fingers curled around the ridges before he yanked it free. Dust falling to the ground as he did. With that he stepped onto the sand and the street grew quiet. Each man there was armed with something and ready to come at him. His other hand moved behind his back under his coat to pull out the kunai there and hold it. Rebar in one hand and a kunai in the other. His cigarette sitting between his lips as he smoked it. Arms outstretched as he moved another couple of feet closer with a casual stride. Speaking in a cold tone when he addressed the group before him.

"We've done this before you and I. I won then and I will win now. Ye can't break someone like me. Yet here you stand. Scum in the sand. For that, I promise you one thing. You punk as bitches are gonna feel pain."

Even as he spoke he failed to notice either the man that followed him out and was watching or the fellow on the roof. Slinking along with the only hint of his movement was a trickle of sand shifted from his feet that poured ever so slightly onto the steps. This one had moved behind where Ryu would be and was planning something. Even as Ryu stopped only a couple of feet from the shop and waited for them to try him the group hesitated as if waiting for something. In that moment the soft sound of steel was barely audible from above as a thug drew a blade. Odachi in hand the man launched from the roof and began his fall with full intent to cut down Ryu from behind. The long sword swinging down clumsily in front of the man but sharp and well made enough to do some damage should it land.

Xio quietly closed the door behind him as he stepped outside of the secret shoppe. The harsh sun was blinding for a moment, but he did not mind it. Some distance away, he could see the man, Ryu walking by himself and picking up a piece of rebar, looking out at the several people who had previously walked outside. Obviously, they were feeling some kind of way about this man, as they had taken time out of their lives and gathered more of their friends. Judging by this move, Xio came to the conclusion that this ryo persona was fairly strong in way, given how these people felt they needed back up to deal with him. Xio simply said nothing for the moment, instead opting to lean against the doorframe as Ryu began to speak.

"We've done this before you and I. I won then and I will win now. Ye can't break someone like me. Yet here you stand. Scum in the sand. For that, I promise you one thing. You punk as bitches are gonna feel pain."

As the male finished speaking, Xio took note of something, a shadow moving along the edge of the building above them both. Looking up, his eyes caught the sight of a man up on the roof of the shop, attempting to keep low and sneak close to Ryu. The persona appeared to be holding some sort of weapon in his hands.

So, this was how the situation would play out? These guys were creative to say the least. They were aiming to utilize one of the oldest, yet most effective tricks in the book. They gave the appearance of an intimidating force, but were relying on a lone man to get the job done. Props to them for being smart. It would appear that they knew they could not handle this Ryu persona one on one, so they were going to stall so that an assassin could cut him down when he least expected in. Xio simply smirked, and folded his arms across his chest. This this was the way fate planned on letting this man go out, then so be it. He would be cut down from behind, and then the rest of the assembled group would finish him off. More than likely, no one would mourn his passing, and presumably, the rival gang would expand their control right into his territory..... which happened to include the shop that Xio was currently standing in the doorway of.

Fuck.

While Xio had no care for this Ryu persona, and did not know him from Adam, there was a fact that he could not overlook; this guy was the shop owner's supplier. If this guy was killed, then the profits would drop until a take over was finalized, and then Old Man Fuji would be left to negotiate a deal with the local gangs just to get his shelves restocked. Who knows what they would demand as payment; more collateral, or a deal sealed in the flesh of young Mayumi inside the shop. Xio was no fool; while he had no interest in Mayumi himself, he knew the way some of the patrons stared at her. Like ravenous wolves eyeing a young lamb. Having to trade his daughter just to secure a profit for themselves was just unacceptable. Something like that would devastate Old Man Fuji, and Xio was damn sure Mayumi would not want any part of it, despite how much it would 'help' her father. Xio could not let that situation come to pass. It was better to deal with the devil you knew, than the one you did not.

Inwardly, Xio was cursing with himself for stepping foot outside the door, cursing whatever deity that decided that Ryu would pick today to run out of cigs, and that this fucked up situation needed to happen today. As the persona upon the roof jumped down at Ryu, Xio silently cursed him for being a fucking idiot and agreeing to go along with his friend's plans of killing Ryu instead of just walking away. As Xio leapt into the air, tackling the jumper mid-air with a loud cracking sound and grunt of pain as Xio collided with his spine, Xio cursed the fact that this dude smelled like he had not showed in a month; Xio even cursed the sun in the sky as his momentum caused the pair to rotate mid air, blinding him momentarily before the pair hit the ground besides Ryu, cracking several of the stones beneath them with the impact. With the way the pair landed, the jumper was not going any place soon; not without someone finding a way to cure 'nose shoved into brain'.

There was a quickly spreading pool of blood on the stones as Xio stood up and dusted himself off. He did not want any part of this shit, but with the way things were going, especially with their bleeding out comrade, it would seem that he was now part of this bullshit. More than likely, these men would target him as well, since Xio appeared to be on Ryu's side.

Fuck my life. I just wanted to drink in peace.

A shadow looming over him was the only warning he got. His head turned as he shifted to prepare and counter but he was going to be too slow. He could see the face of the man that would end him. The shine of the sun on the blade heading for him like fate come knocking. He wasn't going to be able to move in time. He was going to have to take a hit. At best his arm could raise to lessen the damage. The question was if after he sacrificed a limb if he could still fight these fuckers off and escape. Either way he was going to bleed today. A lot. He was certain that he had been a fool to not question why those who had fought him before would approach him so directly. It wasn't their usual tactic and he knew it. He was prepared to take the hit instinctively knowing the pain coming his way. However that would be denied him viciously. Out of no where the man he was preparing to partially block was snapped to the side violently by another shadow and brought to the ground with considerable impact. Certainly an unexpected turn of events.

Ryu spun to follow the movement as the rest of the group tensed in shock. Blood was pooling out from the face of his would be attacker on the ground or rather in the ground. Considerable power had been put into that. His eye settled on a dark figure before him rising from the dead beneath him like a reaper. An eye brow raised but Ryu was careful not to point his weapons at the man now standing next to him dusting his clothes off. If memory served he had been in the shop when Ryu arrived. With a huff Ryu puffed out some smoke and grinned. The man seemed annoyed with his own action but was highly capable based on the damage to the ground. Probably even a match for Ryu's strength. His attention turned to the group around them briefly as a murmur began. He observed as a couple of them backed up but eyes kept darting to the two in the center. The two that had stopped the fight inside. Even as the murmurs began the two glanced at each other before stepping forward. As they did the murmurs died and every one of them re-gripped weapons. So they were the leaders.... Ryu would begin speaking around his smoke to the man casually. His eyes on the two men.

"I'll have to thank you later for offing that fuck nut. The girl inside will give you a beer on me if you tell her about this. In other news, allow me to educate you on your new friends. This lot of spineless little bitches are called the Desert hawk gang. They were pushed out of their territory by me since they saw fit to take from the weak instead of someone who could fight back. They got numbers but truth is they always follow a pillar. A leader. In this case two. Allow me to demonstrate how to break up an attack group like this."

With that he winked though it could maybe be a blink since he was wearing an eye patch. Still he grinned and suddenly stepped. His speed was far to quick for the others to react and in a second and a kick up of sand he was between the two men who stepped forward in a slide. One getting cut across the thigh with a kunai and the other getting nailed in the calf with rebar and bringing him down to one knee. Both screamed in pain as Ryu flipped onto his feet. Both men went to attack with knives in hand one stab after another. Each time they were blocked with a kick to the arm or rebar to block before a punishing set of blows rained down on both of them with just the rebar. Swinging until both of them stopped twitching in the sand. Blood dripping off him and the rebar as he glanced around him at the others. A smile on his blood stained face as he tossed down the rebar into the sand. "Anyone else?" With that the group split into every direction. None of them confident enough to take either Ryu or this stranger on. Squeamish around battle to the death. Ryu would spit out the mostly smoked cigarette before glancing down and sighing. His eyes shifted to the man before he nodded to him and spoke before poofing in a swirl of sand.

"Well if I wanna get the blood out of these clothes I gotta move quick. Don't forget, a beer on me. Just say you rescued Ryu from yet another attempt on him and she will hook you up." poof

Grey eyes looked upon the group before him with obvious annoyance; why did these people pick today of all days to start their shit? Why did every one feel a need to prove that they were tough shit, that they were the biggest dog in the streets with the largest set of nuts? Xio did not feel this urge; he knew his own testes were as large as church bells and made of brass, and he was all to happy to cut the balls off anyone who dared to step into his face. At the moment, it would be this group of people, the gang that wanted to make trouble simply because Xio had stepped in and protected his interest in seeing Mr Fuji's store not go under due to the shitty practices of the local gangs and their politics.

A hand would reach into the pouch at his hip, pulling  free the lone kunai that was housed there. If these motherfuckers wanted to throw down right then and there, so be it. He would let go of his carefully measured restraint, and proceed to lay waste to these fuckers. Xio specialized in Taijutsu and weapons usage while in the Sunagakure no Sato Ninja Academy, his favorite weapon and best weapon being nothing more than a simple kunai. He liked being up close and personal with his attacks; his body seemed to react just a hair faster than most other people, and it allowed him to thrive in combat. Many a night, the only reason why he came out of a fucked up situation was because he seemed to have a knack for knowing what was coming and how to dodge it.

Xio was about to take a step forward, but the 'benefactor' of the shoppe, Ryu began to speak.

The Desert Hawk Gang? Xio had heard of them; a bunch of stupid fucks, who barely knew how to act like a gang. Rumor had it, they were into trafficking skin as well as product; something told Xio that they would no doubt attempt to pressure Old Man Fuji into selling off Mayumi if he was unable to make a payment the first chance they for. For the moment, Xio simply watched from where he stood by the broken and bleeding Hawk; grey eyes followed Ryu's movements easily as he proceeded to give the two presumed leaders of the Desert Hawk Gang the make over a lifetime. The bit of rebar kissed flesh many a time to the tune of outcries of pain until  neither leader moved from the puddle of their blood in the sands. The rest of the gang, seeing what happened with their leaders, took that time to reevaluate their lives, and made the smart decision to scatter to the winds. Perhaps they would finally get the idea that gang banging just was not for them, and go on to get a decent job and provide for their families like a decent member of society.

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, they were no longer a threat to Xio, not that they were much of one to begin with. Xio was about to say something to the Ryu persona, but he noticed that the man took off.

"Well if I wanna get the blood out of these clothes I gotta move quick. Don't forget, a beer on me. Just say you rescued Ryu from yet another attempt on him and she will hook you up."

That was it? A free beer? Maaaan. The fuck did he want a free beer for? He could get anything he wanted on the house anyway; he was well liked by Mr. Fuji and Mayumi well enough; and it was not like he drank heavy when he was there... Replacing the kunai into his pouch, Xio shook his head and headed back into the shoppe. As he entered, Mayumi looked up from behind the bar, her eyes lightning up at the sight of Xio. "What happened out there? I heard screaming."

Xio grimaced, deciding to spare her the gory details as he crossed the floor, heading into the back to the storage room. "Nothing much. I saved your boy's life out there. Ya'll got an axe  in here?"

Mayumi blinked some, a look of concern crossing onto her face as she stepped out from behind the bar. "Its out back in the shed, X, next to the paint cans. Why do you need a axe?"

Xion paused, looking at her as he stepped out the back room. The expression he gave her was one of complete disbelief, as if he could not believe she was asking why he needed a shovel. As realization dawned on Mayumi's face, Xio nodded slowly, heading towards the back door. "Unless you feel like explaining to Daddy why there are three fresh meat piles on your front lawn, you will let me take care of this, aight?"

Mayumi sighed, closing her eyes in frustration. "Fine, fine. Just get it done, okay?"

Xio said nothing in return, instead heading out back to the shed and retrieving the axe that was located there. With the tool in hand, the male headed to the front of the shoppe to retrieve the bodies. Once he gathered the bodies up, he would take them off; he knew of a place to dispose of them, where no one would bother looking. This murder would would not be hard to cover up; a pile of chopped up body parts inside of an old butcher shop that JUST happened to catch fire.

No, nothing suspicious at all. Nothing suspicious about a triple homicide.
