Deep within the lonely forest of Iwagakure no sato.  A gentle soul 5 foot tall stood in silence as he gazed upon a crafted stone monument, with his demeanor filled with sorrow and despair and his purple eye devoid of all emotions. The gentle wind blew over the calm forest tugging the purple scarf tied around the Shinobi’s neck, a wave of blue rose petals took to the skies from the bouquet of flower formerly placed in-front of the momentum by the Shinobi.
“I finally made it brother, I finally have mine” the figure spoke with a certain uncertainty in his tone and a forced smile stretched over his face while his right hand simultaneously stretched forward to reveal a head band with the symbol of the stone engraved on it.  The figure immediately squat down in a calm manner with a tear drop running down both cheeks. “I wish the both of you were here to see this” he spoke with a trembling voice as he tried to hold back another tear from running down his cheek. A few second passed in utter silence with the only notable sound being the wavering trees…

I have to stop this. The figure pronounced as he wiped off the tear from his eye. I, Takashi a Shinobi of the stone a member of the Fantomusodo and a part of the Phantom family should not be seen crying after all, he proclaimed with a smile over his face and his demeanor filled with confidence and pride. He quickly rose to his foot while simultaneously fastening the head band to his head. I have to be on my way now brothers. I have somewhere to be, someone to meet and answers to seek. I don’t plan to be late. He calmly turned around in an attempt to leave, revealing the symbol of his clan inscribed on his shirt in the process But no matter what lies ahead of me, I promise to surpass and not let you two down.

The Shinobi quickly dashed off leaving the momentum behind. He quickly took to the trees, jumping from on branch to the other in an attempt to make it to his test ground, where he was meant to meet it up with another Shinobi of the Stone. His appearance and identity yet unknown but that didn’t bother the Genin. Whoever he was and whatever task he might have prepared for him, he was sure to give it his all.

Training ground

Not long after his sprint in the forest, Takashi came to a stop at a clearing 50 meters wide. 5 6 ft cylindrical stone pillars stood tall, in a crescent pattern at one edge of the field. It was clear they were built for target practices as dart boards could be seen fastened to each.

Takashi surveyed the land scape with his eye swaying from left to right in other to pick up on every detail, no matter how minute or irrelevant it may seem. It quickly came to his notice that the center of the field was barren of grasses and the surrounding trees where all too thick making it hard to see a few meters inside it. This was a training field Takashi had never been too and even though it belonged to his clan, he found the setting fascinating and private enough for future personal training.

Takashi quickly let out a breath of relief as his eye drifted off from the ground to the sky where he gazed upon the sun. Seems I am too early he murmured that’s a good sign. But what to do now he calmly pondered.

He quickly drew out his three Shuriken’s after positioning himself 10 meters away from the stone poles. Narrowing his view to meet the center dot at the target board, Takashi would let go of each shuriken with pinpoint accuracy. However he would miss his target but still get the board, and though a bit disappointing for him he would immediately head towards the board to draw them out after which he would go back to his previous position and try again and again.

His rough, callused hand brushed away the white hair from his collar. It was hot today, the sun seemed so much closer up in the village. It was his first day off in what seemed like forever. He didn’t like getting away from base for too long, but after a bit of nagging from Rat, he had to agree that he should be taking a day off. Rest was just as important for growth as training was, that is what his late teacher had taught him. Speaking of his first sensei, he was going to meet a young man by the name of Takashi Phantom, the third born, and only remaining member of his close family. It had been a brutal attack on the Fantomusodo compound that had claimed the lives of many, including Fukai’s own mother. Even though he did not really know Takashi personally, they still had ties through their past. Takashi was lucky that he had found a home within the compound, that luck had not been with Fukai. As a young boy, Fukai had been shipped off to Iwa as he no longer had any close family on the purple eye mountain. Regardless, he had made his way, and it looked like Takashi had begun to make his way too.

Fukai wanted to see how he was doing, hearing that he had become a genin of Iwagakure relatively recently. The village was quite a different place from their original home, and it usually took some time to adjust. He himself had quite the culture shock when he was thrusted into the care of the state. But hopefully, Takashi’s experience had been a bit easier, especially since he was a few years older than Fukai had been.

The purple eyed jounin strode towards one of the training grounds within the village boundaries. Light green and yellow grasses atop warm baked clay covered the pitch. It was nice to get out of the office for one day, maybe he would feel revitalised and ready for work again tomorrow. A dark purple clan jacket with red and purple stripes was pulled over his loose grey singlet, snug fitting charcoal leggings and simple cloth shoes closed out his attire. Fukai still wore his red scarf, even through the heat of the day, it’s mirrored blades tucked up inside the rolls of woven fibres. He could see a figure on the grounds in the distance, and made his way over towards it.

The second reason that he wanted to meet with the boy was to learn about how the clan was doing. He had given Harichimo his word that the agreement between their two clans would remain intact, and so far, he hadn’t done much to actually follow through on this. He had sent the occasional Subterra operative to scout out what was going on and send in a report, but the information that you could gain from such a thing would only be superficial. To really know what is going on, you had to be immersed into the isolated culture of the clan. And this is where he hoped Takashi could help. Even though he was still a teenager, a youngsters perceptive sensitivity was nothing to dismiss. If there were any ill, he thought that maybe the young man could have picked up on it.

Fukai approached, reaching behind his back to draw two weapons, one katana and one staff. Without giving the boy so much as a glance, he would toss him the katana handle first and walk about three metres past him. The staff was the weapon that Fukai had used as a genin, the tired old oak had been in retirement for a while now. He had brought it out today as he didn’t want to worry about hurting the kid too much. The katana was also not a particularly high quality instrument, just something that he had found floating around the Subterra barracks. “I take it you remember how to use this?” Fukai would turn to face Takashi, raising own weapon. “Let’s see how good you are.” He would take one step, vertically spinning the wood pole once for a lazy overhead strike. One that he would expect a genin to defend against without too much trouble.

A broad smile spanned across Takashis face on seeing his 5th attempt with his three shuriken hit the target boards inner most section, the black spot. He knew his skill with his shuriken was getting ever better by the day and wondered what it would be like in an actually real life situation. His thoughts were then halted as he calmly walked over to the board which stood ten meters before him to pull out his shurikens, this he would do in an attempt to prepare himself for another go at it. “Yes, Next 20 meters, I think I should be able to pull that off” the shinobi uttered in a prideful manner. The young Shinobi was really getting into the mood for some training now and was ready to continue it all day even if nobody cared to join him. on reaching the board he carefully plucked out the three shuriken pieces while carefully examining them to know how deep they had penetrated and how sharp they were. after the quick examination he took his shurikens holding them by his left hand before strolling back towards the new location he had intended to shoot from.

The olive skin shinigami had barely made it 10 meters back when he saw a figure, about 6ft tall, with bright purple eyes and long wavy hair swaying ever so slightly with every move he made. His masculine build and structure was also well covered in a dark purple jacket which hanged over a grey inner polo of a sort.
The appearance of the figure quickly rang a bell in Takashis memory which quickly caused him to slot his three shuriken back into its position. The figured was a famous jounin one Takashi didnt no much about other than his name 'Fukai', his influence and achievements was  reached the very depth of every home over at the mountain his clan home. And even though he had no idea who he really was in person and what he had done, Takashi still felt a sort of familiarity which was beyond blood. Maybe it was because they were of the same clan or members of the same village, but anything it was he was sure to find out later.

Takashi quickly approached him in an attempt to offer him his greetings and maybe ask a few questions, but to his surprise a sword, more precisely a katana suddenly came flying towards him. His sense of reaction coupled with his familiarity with the weapon quickly kicked in causing him to immediately grab the blade by the hilt with his right hand before swinging it in a circular manner, to allow his wrist adapt to the weight of the sword. Takashi would observe the jounin walk by him, before stopping two or more meters away from him. What’s this for?" He would question sub-consciously but in a tone only audible to himself. His eye would drift down the shinobis hand as he spoke back at him “I take it you remember how to use this?”  “Let’s see how good you are.”

The Genin would immediately raise the sword before him and take a ready stance. A swift spin of the Jounin staff would cause Takashi to parry his sword against it almost as if trying to knock it out of his hand. He would only do this in fear of the power behind the swing, but will come to realize the swing didn’t have that much power behind it. Maybe the staff was too old and light or maybe the Jounin was going too easy. Whatever it was Takashi would not stand still and watch, he would immediately pull himself 2 meters forward in an attempt to make a horizontal crescent slash at the waist section of the Jounin. He could tell this would be a bad idea if he doesn’t make it in time, but his little experience with katanas had always taught him to stay close to his opponent especially if they had a long bulky weapon. giving them little space to manipulate it was the only way to survive.

Fukai

Fukai

D-rank
Fukai wondered how he and his challenge would be initially received. He didn’t know Takashi that well, so calling him out here and then starting straight into a spar could have not been up to the young man’s taste. He was glad to see him ready himself and quickly defend against the overhead strike. Exercise and training were Fukai’s natural default, and something that he had always returned to when life got too complicated. Sharing such a thing with another was out of the usual, but it made him a little more comfortable in this interaction.

After blocking, the genin stepped inward, closing the gap and slashing at Fukai’s midriff. The ANBU operative raised an eyebrow in approval. Stepping in closer would help to counteract Fukai’s massive reach advantage, not only that, but also leave his opponent’s weapon misplaced and therefore create an opportunity for an effective counter attack. It was definitely the right idea to go with. It looked like the kid had decent instincts, speed, power and finesse could always be gained through development.

As Takashi begun to step forward and release the high block, Fukai would spin his staff towards him 180 degrees and let go of his forward hand, so that the staff would lay against his forearm with what was his back hand up in the air, gripping it’s original staff end. The result would be that of the staff slipping in between the two purple eyed fighters, taking a vertical pole position in front of Takashi’s slash.

At the same time, Fukai would unexpectedly step forward instead of back, meeting Takashi mid swing. The glorified wooden stick would be supported at the bottom by Fukai’s second hand as the two weapon’s made contact. Fukai would plant his foot in between Takashi’s legs, heel around the back of his opponent’s front foot. This whole maneuver would have the two pressed up against each other with no room to attack, weapons holding each other in a lock. If Takashi wanted to step back, he would trip over Fukai’s own foot and tumble backwards. Fukai intended to corner his opponent into a battle of strength, one that he knew Takashi would want to avoid.

If this all did go to plan, Fukai would use his power to force the genin back over his leg to trip him up. While Takashi would fall, Fukai would grab the scruff of his shirt and hoist him back on his feet.

Regardless of whether this came to be or not, he would speak. “How are you doing? Is the village life treating you well?”

A split second into his attack, Takashi’s eye would pick up on Fukai’s skillful staff maneuver, most of which he would not understand or keep up with.  He would immediately find himself inter locked sword to bow in a power struggle with the light skinned Shinobi. How he managed to pull this off at such short amount of time would marvel

Takashi who would now view him as a weapon master. No doubt it took a lot of determination and training to achieve this and knowing how hard training sections could be Takashi would only imagine what he had been through.

Takashi would immediately return his thoughts to his current predicament, and would immediately step back in an attempt to avoid being locked in a power match with the Jounin. His strength wasn’t that formidable at least not enough to banter against a Shinobi of Fukai’s class and caliber, and even though he knew stepping back would mean giving the Shinobi an extra offensive advantage over him, the Shinobi would still pick it over a battle of strength.  He would however make up his mind to draw out a shuriken with his left hand in other to limit the Shinobi’s options of attack. Flinging one at him should do it he would imagine, but before he could successfully pull both legs back he would immediately find himself tripping over.  What this he would wonder as his eyes now draws back to pick up the well stationed leg behind him.

Takashi could already sub consciously tell what was next, he was going to fall and there was no helping that. The Shinobi would slightly brace himself for the fall but before even this would come true he would feel a quick tug on his cloth. This would suspend him midair after which he would regain his balance and stand on his two feet’s.

Takashi would look up at the Shinobi who would now ask him how he was coping in the Village. Feeling a little embraced the Shinobi would immediately reply in a low tone while he readjust his shirt to its standard position.

"I am fine, the village is all fun, with more foods and stuffs to try out, different new places to visit and people to meet,,, even though I have lost my way a few times, but I think I know more about the big city now".

Takashi would let out a smile after his reply in an attempt to portray how he felt about the village. His response however would only be a standard one as going into details of how lonely he had felt since he came over and how desperate he missed home would only be a burden for the Jounin. Or so he thought.

Fukai nodded, not smiling, nor frowning, at hearing Takashi's response. It was good to hear that he was doing well. It was clear that Takashi was being polite, his response to the run of the mill question had been an equally run of the mill answer. It was the type of conversation that two strangers would share. It made sense, as after all, they were basically strangers. They 'knew of' each other, but they did not 'know' each other. This was likely to be the same type of face that the boy would show others around the village that he came into contact with. That was good, it was a proper way to show respect. Nevertheless, it was the speak of strangers.

"It is a big place, isn't it. A bit different from back home" Fukai said, agreeing with the young man's notion. Fukai stepped back, shifting his balance onto his back foot and looking down at the old polished weapon in his hand. This old thing had accompanied him throughout his journey, a symbol of how far he had come. And now Takashi was just starting out on his own path.

"Speaking of home, how are things back up on that mountain?" The old clan compound, deposited on the side of the mountain, had been through a rough time recently. Even from the reports, Fukai could tell that there had been a loss in morale after the coup attempt. Fukai wanted to know what Takashi thought of things. "I hear Ezra is in charge now, are things going well?" Fukai wasn't exactly the best at probing sensitively for info, he only really knew how to talk about the issue straight on. But he did decide not to pressure the boy, whatever answer he would provide would be acceptable. Who knows, maybe things were picking up. After ashing the last question, Fukai would slowly shift into position. He would raise his weapon once more, this time beckoning Takashi on to make the first move.

The jounin wanted to see what his is first move would be when he was given the lead. What would he do when he was given the time and space to come up with any attack that he could? How fast would it be? How many options would it leave his target? How many follow up options did it leave him? Sometimes it was hard to pick a proactive way to attack, as the first move was always so crucial. If the time and place came up, Fukai would think about throwing him a few pointers or maybe even imparting a jutsu.

Takashi got a quick reply from the Shinobi "It is a big place, isn't it. A bit different from back home" , Which made him relax his shoulders a bit. He could tell Fukai must have in one point or the other felt the-same way, but he couldn’t tell what it felt like for him or what was really going on in his mind. However considering he was now never or really seen in the village Takashi could tell the village was now a part of him.

Takashi observed Fukai stare at his staff for a while and immediately directed his attention to his next battle strategy, but his effort to come up with a battle plan quickly became futile by Fukai's question. The shinobi's inquiry about the status of the mountain, sent a sharp wave of memories, both good and bad, flooding through him. At the moment, He couldn't tell what aspect of the village to start from or what part he would like to hear most.

A quick reply “they are all fine” would have naturally been his response to such question but his second follow up question "I hear Ezra is in charge now, are things going well?" made the purpose more definite and clear and as such required a more cordial response from him.

The young Shinobi knew all too well who Ezra was, the mere mention of his name had made him subconsciously drop his chin from a smile to a plane face. The clan head as he was now referred to was one person and one reason Takashi felt like still staying here in the village. He didn't know him personally but his activity or lack of it had turned the atmosphere at the mountain gloomy and void, neighbor’s barely speak to each other and even when they do, they prefer to do it in their little circles of trustees. People wore long faces all day but yet never complained about a thing. Takashi had also had his own share of silence and was a bit tired of it now. Hearing Fukai ask such question made Takashi eager to talk.

“Lord Erza is indeed In-charge, but his way about is a mystery to me and most other members of the clan. Though people barely speak to each other so I wouldn't know who knows what.”

Takashi would quickly adjust himself to directly face Fukai in response to Fukai hand signal. He would clear his thoughts in other to concentrate on the Shinobi before him.He could already tell the opponent was very proficient at using a staff, but that wouldn’t hinder him fro attacking.

The young shinobi would immediately run sideways in an attempt to run in a circle around the shinobi starting from his right side. He would only do this for one complete rotation and would end up changing the direction and pattern of his dash from a circle dash to a more direct one which would start off from Fukai's right side.

Takashi would move in on the Shinobi with his eye partly placed on his staff and footing as he draws out a kunai from his pouch using his left. He could tell a ninja of Fukai's status and skill could quickly adjust to an attack from his right by simply turning and swinging his staff, but Takashi wasn’t ready to allow that happen. In an instant he would fling his kunai forward with his aim being the shinobis neck area. He would only do this in an attempt to put Fukai in an uncomfortable position while he gains more ground to land a forward thrust at his torso using his sword.

Fukai

Fukai

D-rank
Fukai’s head tilted from side to side as he acknowledged and then considered each answer to his questions. Takashi didn’t say much, in fact he became quite noticeably quiet. That was fine, Fukai would not push further for information. After all he was still a kid, and like most kids, would have to concentrate their energies on their immediate priorities of soaking in and learning from the world around them. It was unfortunate that he didn’t have anything significant to share, but that was alright. There was nothing that he could ask of the boy, or more correctly, nothing he should ask of him. It would be his job to keep tabs on the clan from afar and make sure things didn’t get too far out of hand. What immediate actions that required of Fukai, he had no idea, and even if he did, it would require some significant effort to inject himself into the current ecosystem. Fukai had more or less isolated himself from the clan and for him to march in and make demands with an iron fist would be unlikely to be seen as thinking of the people’s best interest. It was a problem, but it was his problem for now. Maybe once Takashi was a little more capable he would be able to take the reins. Fukai would not miss those particular set of reins and would welcome a lighter load.

With his ulterior agenda satisfied for the moment, there was nothing left to do but to enjoy the moment. He had beckoned Takashi to make his move and start the second phase of the spar. He would watch the young man’s moves with care. The black stripe amid purple iris would flicker to the side as it traced the movement make a broad circle around him. With the large movement, Fukai would have more than enough time to turn to face the boy head on again before he had started the attack. There. Fukai’s brow creased a millimetre when he noticed Takashi’s foot was deeper in placement than the previous ones, giving him the necessary traction required to turn his velocity towards Fukai.

A hand in the pocket, Takashi was reaching for some sort of tool. Fukai rose to the balls of his feet and clutched his wooden staff delicately but balanced, much akin to how a violinist would hold their bow. Usually in this sort of situation, Fukai would make a preemptive move in attempt to disrupt whatever his foe was attempting to set up, but he wanted to see what the kid would go for. A kunai flashed out in front of him, whizzing towards his neck. And hidden in the wake of the projectile was the beginning of a movement with the blade.

Fukai would raise his right index finger and thread the eye of the kunai with it, and enclose the rest of his fingers around the handle while flicking the kunai down. Fukai would use the time lapse between incoming threats to conduct his next action. This lapse was caused by the shift of balance from throwing the kunai to thrusting the katana, Takashi’s core would need to rotate and his shoulders would need to manipulate to pull off the movements. Fukai would bring down the kunai and clash it with the katana that had been thrusted at him, sliding the metal together to stop Takashi’s blade from completing its’ violent journey. Reaching out with the staff in his left hand he would attempt a light tap on Takashi’s still advancing body if his previous actions would follow through.

If this would come to pass, Fukai would be satisfied with their little bout. Takashi definitely had a keen head for fight decision making. With progress spurred on by the natural physical development that comes with growing up, he would probably end up having a successful shinobi career. But he still had a way to go before he could match Fukai. “That was a good effort. Try to string movements together to cut down on waste time and energy. Do you see how I grabbed the kunai and brought it down to defend in one motion? The time required for that one movement was less than the time required for your two, even if you did have me pressured. How about flinging the kunai outwards and spinning into a slash in the same direction? It would require a bit more finesse to pull off, but with some hard work you will be able to string together combos as fluid as the mountain streams.” Fukai refocused on Takashi, trying to stop himself from lecturing. His mood shifted to something a little more sombre. “There was one thing that your father would tell me over and over again. He would say: ‘Close your enemy’s options while keeping your own open’.” It was a simple saying and yet it said everything about combat that you’d ever need to know.

“There are also many jutsu that can help you in close combat. If you like, I can show you a few that have become my bread and butter over the years. Do you know which elements you can use?
Fukai wouldn’t be too bothered if Takashi didn’t want to see any jutsu, they could always return to sparring or do something else different entirely.

Shortly after Takashi’s sudden turn became a success and his kunai let loose upon his opponent, the young shinobi would inwardly marvel at the shinobi’s reaction speed. His skillful turn though anticipated by Takashi would appear one step faster than he had hoped. He would however not stop on his track and try to make up for this by increasing his thrust speed. He would equally observe Fukai's reaction to the kunai with his interest mostly placed on the shinobi's next choice of action. “He is definitely going to attempt a dodge” the young shinobi would imagine as he boosts himself ever closer to the tall shinobi, he would have just enough confidence in his action and would totally neglect and cancel out any and every thought of a possible counter attack his opponent. In a matter of second his hopes and dreams would become ephemeral as his eye widens up on seeing Fukai latch onto the kunai. He could see clearly this time, most of what transpired, and it would immediately dawn on him, how open he was.

Takashi would have naturally stopped on his track on seeing this and probably pull back, but the speed he already invested in his strike and the timely reaction of Fukai kunai maneuver would lead him to an inevitable clash. His sword would glide through the kunai, perfectly place to parry his away and would eventually stop halfway. His own movement would also come to a stop with his hand still stretched forward and Fukai’s staff well pressed against his lower torso. The young shinobi would find himself suddenly sweating with two lines of sweat running down his opposing cheeks. He would stand there stunned for a second or two with his mind totally clouded with the events that just played out before his eye. He could tell he was probably dead by now if this was a real fight against an enemy and would immediately fell fear and anger swelling up within him. His fear would only be in respect of the shinobi’s skill and his anger mostly directed at himself, but this feeling would calmly fade away as soon as Fukais words reach him. “That was a good effort.”

The young Shinobi would adjust himself and take a normal stance with his attention now and greatly focused on Fukais advice. “Try to string movements together to cut down on waste time and energy. Do you see how I grabbed the kunai and brought it down to defend in one motion? The time required for that one movement was less than the time required for your two, even if you did have me pressured. How about flinging the kunai outwards and spinning into a slash in the same direction? It would require a bit more finesse to pull off, but with some hard work you will be able to string together combos as fluid as the mountain streams.”

Takashi would take most of what was said to heart but would not utter a word to the Shinobi, during the period. He would only maintain a plain emotionless face, and only slightly nod from time to time. The mention of his father ideology and quotes in the shinobi’s next line of statement would however change the expression on Takashi’s face as he adopts a more shocked and surprised demeanor. He could immediately tell the Shinobi had strong ties with his father as not all who had claimed to know him could easily remember his teachings and guidance. Takashi himself had also forgotten most things about this father’s teachings, and being reminded by Fukai would only make him feel more connected to him.

Fukai would continue with his words and would end up up making an offer Takashi could not reject. “There are also many jutsu that can help you in close combat. If you like, I can show you a few that have become my bread and butter over the years." Training was part of Takashi's hobby as an individual and hearing such offer from a person who he had come to look up to as a brother would only tend to gladden his heart more. The shinobi would raise his left palm a little bit before his face before clenching tightly to form a fist "I don't know what your ties with my father looked like, but I would like to look up to and refer to you as a brother, that's if you don't mind". Takashi would pause for a while to observe Fukai's reaction before continuing with his statement "thank you for reminding me about his words, it really means a lot to me."

Takashi would then channel his perception towards the training offer made to him and would quickly reply with a more eager and excited demeanor. "I use Wind and Earth, I have trained myself to adopt a few ninja techniques, most of which I picked up at the academy. I am willing and ready to learn from you" Takashi had always tried his best to train his elements and his specialty, but doing so without any form of help had only limited his efforts. He would silently hope and look forward to Fukais guidance, which he could tell would be an eye opener for him."so where do we start?" he would excitedly ask.

Fukai had been thinking about what he could teach Takashi, when the boy had spoken up on a more unexpected subject. He said that he wanted to refer to him as a brother. The jounin shifted uncomfortably and blushed a little. He was not used to the intimate relation that the young man was showing him. Fukai had always been more of a loner, placing himself away from the emotional danger zone. But that being said, if that’s what Takashi really wanted then he wouldn’t refuse. "Thank you for reminding me about his words, it really means a lot to me."  Fukai nodded. After all, the boy’s father had left a big impact on Takashi’s life. If he could do the same for him then he would gladly help. When the boy was ready, he would start his short lesson.

“Watch closely”. Fukai would hold up his staff in front of him and calm himself. “Bukijutsu is not just about swinging your sword, it is about utilizing chakra with your tools in any way that will benefit you.” He stood square on his feet, the wood laying in each fist, stretched out horizontally in front of him. “First you need to let your chakra flow from your core, into your hands.” This should be easily achievable by every genin, the supernatural walking practice required more control than this did. “Next, run the chakra out your hands and into the weapon.”  Fukai would do just that, letting his own chakra flow pass down the length of the staff. Nothing much would be visible at this point. “From here, a variety of different jutsu are attainable by applying a different shape and nature."For this particular jutsu, we want to change the element to that of fuuton.” He would think of the howling storms that passed through the mountain tops, and flowing the chakra against itself, flattening and weaving it together into the wind chakra within the staff.

“Now, here’s the tricky part. We are wanting to expand the chakra from within the weapon so that it is projected from inside. We want the strength of the wind chakra to wrap around.” Fukai would push a bit more juice into the staff and winds would begin to consume the wood. Like a contained mesh of tornados, fuuton chakra rushed around the old oak one way and then the other, turning it into a storm on a stick. The chakra was slowly enflated into the half metre locus shape, like a big pill. After finishing the jutsu, he would look up at Takashi and see how he was doing. “This jutsu acts a lot like a larger and lower powered rasengan when you hit someone with it. They will be blown back and incur injury. It has a lot of use in close combat situations, and will give you a huge edge against a bare weapon user. In our previous spar, I was able to overpower and overrun you, but using this jutsu, it will be difficult to even get near you without copping a big blow.” Fukai would swing the staff in a figure of eight, the winds roaring as they circulated.

“Not only can it be used for offense, but the size means it can be used as a shield, blowing away low powered projectiles. And maybe if you get a bit creative, it may help with movement.”
As he talked, he showed an example of the shield, holding it in front of him. It covered the front of his body well when it was held vertically. Then he crouched and slammed the end of the jutsu into the ground and jumping at the same time. The extra force gave him a boost, letting him jump another few metres. Fukai would turn around and face Takashi after the jump, and release the jutsu. “So how was that? You have a go now.” Fukai had trouble verbalising sometimes, but just having a go and practicing was the best way to try. He didn’t expect Takashi to get it first time, but who knew what the young man was capable of.

Takashi paid close attention to Fukai’s instruction, and observed the Jounin lift his staff as he uttered some words of advice. “Bukijutsu is not just about swinging your sword, it is about utilizing chakra with your tools in any way that will benefit you." The olive skin Shinobi would mentally take note of this and watch on in silence as the Shinobi before him makes a balanced stance with his staff horizontally stretched out before him. A slight chakra wave would be made visible, after which a flow of wind element would follow up, completely enveloping the staff in spiraling wind energy.

Takashi would take his stance and emulate what he had seen so far. He would quickly stretch his sword forward and close his eye for a second in an attempt to stabilize his breathing and chakra control. He would then open his eye and emit into the sword his chakra. His chakra would immediately manifest on his fist and palm and by simply willing it, it would run down the full length of his blade.

Satisfied with his progress so far, he would mentally go through the next instruction on his mind, “channel my wind element,, channel my wind element.” By paying attention to the calm flowing wind around him, he could immediately start to pull forward the wind element into the blade of his sword. A small flow of energy would sluggishly start to coil up the blade and would gradually increase as Takashi concentration improves. He would let out a smile on seeing the full length of his sword being covered with wind. Already familiar with the workings and effect at this level Takashi would pour in more chakra into the blade and increase the flow of wind. He would be shocked to see the increased size of the spiraling wind on his blade, though not larger than Fukai’s.

He would then return his attention to Fukai who would go on ahead to explain further. “This jutsu acts a lot like a larger and lower powered rasengan when you hit someone with it. They will be blown back and incur injury. It has a lot of use in close combat situations, and will give you a huge edge against a bare weapon user. In our previous spar, I was able to overpower and overrun you, but using this Jutsu, it will be difficult to even get near you without copping a big blow.” Takashi would slightly nod his head at this statement as he could totally imagine what it would have looked like.  He would careful watch on and see the Shinobi perform a few more example and stunts with his, he would notice the height of his jump and the shield of wind and wonder what more he could actually gain from this.

“So how was that? You have a go now.”

He would immediately attempt to swing his sword from left to right, however before he could complete a single cycle he would totally lose track of the wind on his blade. Takashi would not be bothered by this and would immediately have a go at it again.

By relaxing his thoughts he would again, mentally go through the instructions.

“Let your chakra flow from your core, into your hands.”

“Run the chakra out your hands and into the weapon.”

"Change the element to fuuton.”

“Expand the chakra from within the weapon.”

Takashi would immediately attain the form of the futon on his blade again and try out another maneuver. This time he would make a descending slash which would leave his blade smashing into the soil. However before the tip of his blade fully makes contact with the soil, the futon element on his blade will completely disperse, though not without making a small dent on the floor which would raise a slight dust particle in the process. Takashi would feel a bit frustrated and disappointed by this but he would still maintain his calm demeanor. He quickly have a third and fourth go at it, and like before he would come up short, with each attempt lasting longer than the previous.

On his fifth attempt Takashi would maintain the form for a period of three different maneuvers an overhead strike, a casual swing from left to right and a straight forward thrust, before dispelling the Jutsu. He would feel a bit familiar with the Jutsu and would like to try out more of its capabilities, but in an attempt not to keep Shinobi waiting he would rather stop it for now and continue his practice with it later. He would then look up at Fukai and ask in a calm tone.

How was that?

Fukai had an eyebrow raised the whole time that he had watched the young Fantomusodian attempt his gale smash enhance jutsu. It seemed like the kid was drinking in the teachings and taking them to heart. Amazingly, he was able to project the wind chakra from the core of his sword. Not only was he easily applying nature manipulation easily, but it seemed like the wind aura that was projected had the right shape as well. The winds weren’t as tightly spiraling against each other as Fukai’s were, causing the overall spin to be weaker. It was still impressive that he had managed to get this far on the first try. It showed both a keen knowledge and ability about jutsu, not only with shape but also mixing element manipulation into there too. Fukai himself had only grown proficient enough with his chakra usage to create useful elemental jutsu when he was twenty. While it wasn’t unusual to see a genin use elements, seeing someone talented enough to see a jutsu once and replicate it was definitely unusual.

Fukai was a bit jealous to be honest. He seemed to have both a great battle sense and talent for jutsu. This kid had potential, he would have to keep his eye on him. The elder male kept watching on as Takashi tried again and again to activate the jutsu, each time the form would increase in precision. At first the wind enhancement wouldn’t stand up to a simple wave around. Next, It would be able to tank a collision with the ground before dispersing. After half a dozen attempts, the form of the jutsu looked almost solid enough for field use. Takashi would release the jutsu and ask him how he did. “Well, you did alright, although it could be better.” It wasn’t exactly the whole truth, as the kid had done really well, he just didn’t want him to get a big head. “I’m sure you’re getting tired so we’ll do one more exercise and then you can go.” The many activations of the jutsu had to be sapping his energy by now. Especially with its unrefined state, he was probably getting low on chakra. It wasn’t good to train new techniques while tired, or sloppy movements will be taught to your muscle memory.

“Now for use of this jutsu, you will have to be aware of it’s power and what effects it will bring about. This jutsu can have an incredible kickback if you are not prepared. That is why it is important to stay planted, with your weight sitting firmly behind your weapon. Otherwise you will fly off balance when you make contact.” Fukai would demonstrate, bending his knees and spreading his feet a bit more, while locking in his arms so that his staff would be well supported from force. “Also the jutsu has a large size which may get in the way if used incorrectly. It will be important for you to get in some combat testing before a real mission.” Fukai would take a few backward steps and reactivate the fuuton jutsu. “Now, let’s trade a few blows so you can experience the power for yourself. Remember to stay planted when you anticipate impact. Use the jutsu and get ready.” Once Takashi looked ready, Fukai would step forward and strike vertically and then horizontally. He would then expect some return strikes.

After he was done, Fukai would release Takashi from the training session and let him be on his way.

“Well, you did alright, although it could be better.”  Were the immediate reply Takashi would get from the elder Shinobi. He could already tell he needed more practice to maintain such jutsu and maybe with a bit off luck he might create his own version of it, but for now the young Shinobi would be satisfied what he had achieved so far and pay attention to Fukai to know his next program for the day.

Fukai would immediately suggest they have a go at one more exercise, before they called it a day. Takashi would silently agree to this for more reasons than one, and thus would gather up his energy in preparation for the next task at hand.

With the words “Now for use of this Jutsu”, the elite shinobi would begin the next phase of the training and just like before he would explain the step by step process of applying the techniques. With good examples he would explain the pros and cons of the jutsu and would go ahead to provide a practical demonstration of it. Takashi would only observe as the lesson continues and would only move when Fukai makes an offer to tread a few blows so that it would properly sink in.

Takashi would slightly move back two step, before maintaining his weight by planting his two feet’s to the ground and applying chakra to his feet as an extra precaution. He would then activate the futon jutsu into his sword by carefully reciting the whole procedure over again in his mind.  Just as soon as he was ready, he would observe Fukai’s strike and parry accordingly to cross out, each strike. His defense would be solid enough but the impact between a normal strike and one induced with a futon chakra would be clear to him and would greatly hamper on his muscles and wrist.

He would immediately go on the offense and attempt a strike of his own in the same manner the Shinobi had strike him, and unlike his nearly perfect defense he would find himself struggling to hold on to his sword with each impact because of a rebound effect.

The elite Shinobi would then dismiss him after the training and with a bow  Takashi would then take his leave, but he would only make 5 step forward before turning back to face the elite Shinobi.

“Yo Brother Fukai thank you for your help, looking forward to next time,,, oh and here is your sword”. He would fling the sword towards Fukai almost at the same manner he was handed the sword in the first place. “Thanks again”

Takashi would wave him good bye before turning back to run back into the village with a satisfied but tired mien.

The pair of purple eyed shinobi completed their last exercise, their gale smash enhancements crashing against each other. Fukai could feel the force from the young man’s chakra. It was nothing to sneeze at for a genin at least. Once again, it was a little unrefined, but with natural development and a bit of training he would be fine. After their meeting today, Fukai was assured that the kid would be fine. Despite his age, he and enough ability to take care of himself.

After the session ended, Takashi thanked him for the training, giving a bow. A wolfs grin appeared on his face, unused to being called a brother. He was pleased though, maybe he did still have some family left. He too was looking forward to their next meeting, there would definitely be a next time. That meant that todays goodbye was just a temporary thing. Fukai would catch the training sword that he had lent the kid and watch him turn and leave. Fukai would call out after him. “Don’t train too hard now aye?” before leaving himself.

Their relationship was a curious thing. Fukai was annoyed at himself that he had not done this sooner. But now that Takashi was down in the village, he could probably use some help from his adoptive brother. It was a big world out there, and Fukai could tell that this kid’s journey would be something special. He would have to keep an eye on him, make sure he didn’t get into too much mischief.
