Kuramitsu

Kuramitsu

D-rank
Mailman:

Kuramitsu scratched the back of his head in slight irritation at the mundane task laid out before him. It wasn't any better than looking after some academy student that was for sure, then again it was a D rank so what did he expect? The line between mailman and being a shinobi seemed quite far apart in logical thinking standards but for some strange reason this was not the case, especially in his current mission. As he stepped out the mission issuing center his right hand lightly clasped over the envelops and he began to tap them on the side of his leg.

“Can this be anymore of a chore?” He asked himself softly as his keen eyes soaked up the picture of the street before him. People went about their daily routines with glee filled smiles, children ran about laughing, ignoring the single old lady that just wouldn’t conform to the happiness displayed by everyone else. Her croaky and wheezing voice showing signs of age and damage to her throat from years of smoking. {Home…} He thought with a warm smile.

Seeing all this and simply being a part of the scene brought about a happiness in Kuramitsu’s heart and seemed to ignite a fire under his backside. One thing he loved just as much as his family and friends was the village he was born in and if that meant doing a simple task such as delivering mail, then so be it. Besides, at least it wasn't a crazy mission like having to stop a rogue ninja group or fight in some sort of war, right?

With that thought in mind he scanned over each of the addresses and sprang into action. He quickly mapped out the fastest route, having a fairly good understanding of each street location. Within minutes the first message was delivered to Miss Kei who had luckily been outside attending her flowers. The second envelop which was addressed to Lee was also a rather simple encounter. A thank you and enjoy your day further was shared and more than enough to send him on his way to deliver the final letter.

Upon reaching the Yen residence, Kura noticed something strange about the building. It seemed in ruin and badly kept. When a man with curly white hair and a pair of cookoo looking eyes opened the front door it seemed quite clear as to why the building was in such a bad state of repair. “Who dare disturb my humble abode!? OOoooh a letter for me?” He said with a crazed old man tone of voice. “Um yes, addressed to a one, Mr Yen… No need for a signature, and you’re welcome” Kura said in a kind manner which was more to avoid anything more than a few words. “Aaahpupupupup not so fast kiddo! How about a riddle?” The old man retorted. Kura paused for a moment but seemed more enticed by a nap. “Maybe another day old ti-” Mr.Yen cut him off as he seemed to appear in front of Kura with a smile in the blink of an eye, ignoring the Nara’s previous statement. “Everyone has it. Those who have IT least don’t know that they have it. Those who have it most wish they had less of it, But not too little or none at all. What am I?” Kura stared at the man for a moment and rolled the question around in his mind but came to the answer “Age..” The man burst out in hysterical laughter “Well done boy! You’re a smart one aren't you… Next time I’ll get you hehe!” He slapped his knee and headed back into the dark building that looked in ruin.

Kura scratched his head in confusion from the event which had occurred but simply shrugged. “Crazy old man...Might need to let someone know they should put him in a madhouse.” He said nonchalantly as he wandered back into the city with his mission complete.
