Hyuga Reiko

Hyuga Reiko

Usually, Reiko tended to like animals. In fact, she loved animals, with the exception of some creepier bugs. Slugs, for example, she preferred to stay away from. On the other hand, there were some animals she never really expected to meet. A gorilla was one of them. So when she was called in to deal with a runaway gorilla, she was nothing less than dumbstruck. Not only that, but she was assigned a partner in catching the gorilla, so she could only assume that this was a pretty strong gorilla. At least it was another Hyuga. Between the two of them, they should be able to keep a close focus on the gorilla, enough to hopefully catch it. She didn't want to kill it unless that was the absolute last resort. It as a living creature just as she was, after all. However, she knew that if it came to the point that it was killing other living creatures, affecting the environment and possible safety of the village, she would have to aid in putting it down. That was something she could come to terms with.

She got to the meeting place, that being a big tree nearby the small forest, and stopped. Reiko shifted from foot to foot, glancing around the area in a quick 360. She didn't see any danger, though she could just hear the gorilla. It was far off, only definable by the crashing noises it made every so often, coupled with an occasional roar.

Reiko found herself picking at her sash, shifting from foot to foot. She glanced up at the trees around her, and then, just to be safe, climbed up to a branch on the closest tree. There she sat, kicking her legs out beneath her. At least, until she heard a squeal of a dying animal. Reiko was back on her feet within moments, looking down worriedly to see if Atsuya had arrived yet. She didn't like sitting, and this took the cake when it came to something she didn't like sitting through. So, she stopped sitting. Tightening her belt a bit, she shot off, heading in the direction of the crashing as fast as jumping from tree to tree could carry her.

She found it not all that far away, crashing through the trees like it owned the place. Reiko narrowed her eyes, crouching down on the branch, one hand coming down to balance herself. Capture, but not kill. So, considering they didn't have a gigantic cage, knock it out or kill it. She didn't have many techniques that would stop movement unless she counted Hiraishin. But that as less for hindering movement and more for freeing her own. Besides, it probably wouldn't work well in this situation.

The gorilla didn't seem to notice her yet, so she began hopping branches once more, slowly making her way to the ground. Once there, she crept after it, partially disguised from the thing by its own noise. If she wanted to catch this thing, she needed to disable it. Juuken seemed like a good bet, she'd just have to make sure not to hit anything vital. Best bet would be to take out it's arms and legs. Quickly, she began her signs, crouching low in hopes the gorilla wouldn't see her through the brush. Horse, Tiger, Boar, Hare, Rat, Horse... all the way on until the Ram.

"Byakuan!" she shouted, jumping forward.

The young Hyuga was on his way to a mission just recently assigned to him. Unlike the previous week, where-in he was lax about his shinobi duties, this week was different. Atsuya was, somewhat, on a spree of missions. Today he was to take down an escaped gorilla and either kill or capture it. Naturally, like all sane human beings, he preferred to not kill the beast unless he a situation arose where he had no other choice but to do so; of course even with that Atsuya still planned on using the few weapons he had on his arsenal… this was a gorilla after all. Atsuya packed three shuriken and a kunai on a small pouch that would be attached to the back of the white kimono that he wore. After preparing for a good amount of time, he was ready.

Atsuya’s mind began to spin like a clockwork devising out a plan to incapacitate the gorilla which he assumed was much more capable than him strength wise. From the outside it seemed as though he was just walking normally, yet in his mind the young Hyuga called to the numerous books about gorillas he previously read in his leisure. Information was important to him. Advantages… disadvantages… he had it all planned out.

Unlike his previous missions this one was quite rare not only because he would be fighting a gorilla, but instead this would mark one of the very few times where he chose to work with someone… though ‘chose’ wasn’t quite the right word for the situation. The Hyuga more than believed he was capable enough to take the gorilla alone; that fact paired with his somewhat unsocial behavior obviously meant that he neither had want nor need to work with someone else… or at least according to him. Atsuya remained largely aware that his partner for the mission would be a Hyuga, much like him, instead he stormed off the moment he was assigned a partner. While recently he had been taking more ‘social’ behaviors he still very much didn’t like being forced what to do… and here he was being forced to work with someone else.

As he approached the address that was to be him and his partner’s meeting area Atsuya came upon a rather large, almost gigantic, tree. Arriving to the sight of nothing but the tree and nature surrounding him, he assumed he was the first to reach the meeting area… had he not known there were two similar trees that looked exactly like each other. The young Hyuga arrived at the wrong ‘meeting place’. Of course like the ‘patient’ person he was, Atsuya waited for some time… and then more… and then more… until finally he had enough. A loud shriek that felt like it could be heard kilometers away erupted from what he assumed was the sound of a wild gorilla killing an animal changed his mind. No longer would he wait for this ‘partner’ he could handle things just fine on his own.

Wasting no time the Hyuga burst into a sprint and began hopping from tree branch to tree branch being wise enough to keep his momentum going. "Byakugan!" a woman shouted. His ‘partner’ perhaps? From her scream Atsuya gathered two things one, she was a Hyuga and two, the gorilla was now aware of her presence. He wouldn’t make the same mistake by alerting the gorilla, nor would he attempt to interact with her in any way… he had the element of surprise and he was going to use it well.

For a moment the Hyuga closed his eyes and gathered his chakra on his sights. Veins popped out around his eyes as he opened them, with this his byakugan was activated. Immediately he gained sight of a girl running straight towards a gorilla. No doubt with her byakugan she had spotted him too… unlike the gorilla who remained completely unaware of his presence.

Atsuya flipped from branch to branch utilizing the forest area to his advantage and moving to the blind spot of the alerted gorilla which was bracing itself for the Hyuga girl’s attack. His white eyes zeroed in on the Gorilla’s left leg as he reached for the three shuriken from his pouch. A clear shot, a still target, and the byakugan… how could anyone miss this shot? With that three shuriken all directed to the Gorilla’s left leg shot out from his hands and sliced through the air.

Barely milliseconds after she activated her Byakugan she sensed Atsuya above her in the trees. So that's where he went off to... she thought. He could have come to the meeting place at the very least if he was so close by. It was a simple common courtesy to do so, after all. In fact, it was more than a little rude that he'd chosen to come on his own. He could have easily stopped off for just a few seconds to inform her that he'd arrived if he didn't want to waste time there. She'd been just as raring to go as he apparently was, it wasn't as if she'd slow him down at all. Even the small thought that she might have been left behind because he thought she might slow him set her teeth gritting together. Part of her wanted to go beat some sense into him, even if it took all day. Now wasn't the time to be grumpy about such small things, though. Now was the time to take down the gorilla. She could beat him to a pulp later, for daring to imply that she was weaker than he was.

It had tensed up, alerted for her attack by the shout she'd made. Even as she ran closer, however, she sensed the presence of the shuriken coming towards them. Those would work well to disable it if she could keep it from moving or charging before they hit. In a split second decision, she jumped upwards, abandoning her previous plan of attacking. The gorilla moved with her, as she'd expected it to, it's hands moving up in an attempt to attack her. She moved her hands close to her sides, gathering her chakra in them as quickly as she could. As the gorilla's hand came close to her body, she lashed out, hitting its wrist with the flat of her palm. What felt like a few blinks later, the shuriken landed, and the beast let out a roar of pain, turning its attention inward long enough for Reiko to flip herself upright and land properly. She stopped a few meters away, surveying the damage. It had one hand and one foot out at this point, though she wasn't sure it would go in quietly until all of its limbs were incapacitated. That, or they knocked it out. Knocking it out was always an option, one she'd prefer over anything else if possible. If it were unconscious, dragging it back to its enclosure and keepers would be little more than the blink of an eye.

Automatically, Reiko glanced up, despite the fact that byakugan allowed her to know where Atsuya was without her physically moving her eyes. Instinct tended to do things like that to a person. Noting where he was now, she shifted her attention back to the gorilla, holding her hands at the ready and charging once more.

As the three shuriken launched from his hands a small surge of raiton chakra erupted from the girl’s body. The lightning managed to stun and burn the gorilla momentarily… just enough time for all three shuriken to hit their mark. The three shuriken sunk deep into the gorilla’s left leg lining up from its achilles tendon to the areas above that. One thing was for sure; the gorilla was now one leg short. Her distraction proved itself useful, though unnecessary had she not alerted the gorilla in the first place a distraction would not have been needed. The gorilla roared as both a means to deal with the pain and intimidate the two Hyuga; this little intimidation tactic had no effect on Atsuya, in his mind the fight had ended the moment his shuriken landed on its leg. Seeing no further use for his eyes, the veins around Atsuya’s eyes reverted back to their unseenable form.

Much like his Hyuga partner, Atsuya thought that incapacitating the gorilla was the best way to deal with it; unlike her, however, he had little to no intentions of dragging it back all the way to its enclosure. Instead of doing such a mundane thing he planned on burying every part of it, aside from its head, deep underground. The instructions given simply to subdue and capture the beast… there were no directions for taking it back to the village. He planned on contacting Konohagakure shinobi, giving them the location of the beast, and leaving it at that. Of course to do so he had to make sure the gorilla was in such a weak state that it would be unable to leave its coffin underground.

Yet again the gorilla bellowed. The thing had its complete attention directed towards Atsuya, who had severely injured its leg. The gorilla was completely asinine leaving one opponent out of its sights, nonetheless it didn’t matter; in his mind he needed no help and he wasn’t going to wait for his Hyuga partner to deal the final blow alone… after all he already had an attack planned out. Atsuya shot the female Hyuga a small glance; with all the gorilla’s attention pointed towards him, he expected her to take good advantage of the obvious opportunity presented at her hands… hopefully she would understand that with his short glance. Atsuya formed a hand seal as he dropped down from the tree branch. A single clone appeared beside him as he made his landing. This was over now. Both the clone and Atsuya sprinted towards the gorilla completely distracting it for Reiko. Of course he wouldn’t simply allow himself to work as a distraction. Upon reaching within five meters of the beast, the real Atsuya hopped back and sunk down to the ground as the clone ran straight for the gorilla which had its full attention.

Poof.

Upon impact with the gorilla, the clone burst into white smoke. Suddenly two hands erupted from the ground and latched on to the gorilla’s right leg. Atsuya began pulling down the beast to the ground leaving only its left, and injured , leg to support on. Obviously the gorilla refused to go down without a fight. The beast, with all its might, resisted being pulled and buried down deep underground… it had heart Atsuya gave it that, but its resistance would be futile. This was the perfect time for his partner to strike from behind and stun the gorilla just enough for him to take the beast down with him and bury it underground.
