Kaia~Mai

D-rank
Mission Taken - Build a Bridge (C Rank):

The sound of rain hitting the window caused Kaia to open her eyes with a slight frown. She blinked several times while trying to distinguish the rather realistic dream she had been having from reality itself. Her dream had seemed so real that it took several long seconds before she actually was able to focus on the here and now: and the fact that it was indeed raining and her window was slightly ajar. With a yawn the small female turned onto her side and attempted to reach downward toward the window - her bed being one of those top bunk styled beds with a desk and book shelves built in on the underneath side - only to find that given her small self she couldn't reach it.

Great, that meant she had to get up.

Kaia took a moment to stretch, fingertips pointed towards the headboard and toes pointed toward the baseboard of her bed. She held the pose for nearly ten seconds before relaxing with a soft groan followed by a yawn. Finally satisfied she sat up, threw the blankets off of herself, and then carefully but quickly climbed down the step-like ladder that was the only means to get up to her bed from the floor. The window was shut with the quickness as the rain began to fall harder and if Kaia's eyes weren't decieving her the drops had increased in size. "Water, water everywhere... what's a fire user to do?", she said in a sing song voice beneath her breath before giggling. Kaia then took that moment to change from her pajamas into one of the many outfits her father had purchased her a few days prior: picking something that would be comfortable and easy to wear all day long since she planned on picking up a mission after breakfast.

She then headed downstairs, finding a plate of food on the table and a note from her father saying that he was at his office and to stop by anytime she needed or wanted anything. Momaru was seated nearby, watching her before yawning. "Did you just wake up, too, Momaru?", she asked the lion curiously. The lion chuckled and shook its large head. "No child, I've been up for quite a while. Better hurry and eat, your food will be cold very soon." Kaia nodded, not needing to be told twice as her stomach began to growl, and made quick work of sitting down and practically devouring her plate of food: every last drop and piece of it. When she was done she sat back in her chair patting her full stomach: she was already beginning to put on a healthy weight again. "Mm. That was delicious."

"All done, dear? Good. A letter came for you earlier while you were in the shower. It's a mission I believe that you're being asked to complete. It's over there on the side table - I wanted you to eat before I said anything.", Momaru told her after she rinsed off her plate and placed it in the sink. Giggling and smiling she gave the giant lion a scratch behind his ears before going to retrieve the scroll from the nearby table. Sure enough it was a C ranked mission: a bridge was being delayed and she was being tasked with finding out exactly why that was. Kaia hoped that it was nothing too dangerous, but then again she felt confident in her abilities. Momaru glanced over her shoulder and read it too. "I'll come with you just in case... your father and I don't want you wandering around alone after all." Kaia simply giggled, shrugged her shoulders, and then ran upstairs to grab the few weapons she owned as well as her key to the house.

She headed back downstairs and locked the door behind herself and Momaru before heading toward the bridge in question - thankful that Momaru knew the way since it was in a part of Kiri that she hadn't yet explored. What she found was chaos. The workers seemed to unsure of what they should be doing, and were quite unorganized, and thus were doing nothing at all. Kaia looked over the situation, taking well over an hour to figure out everything and see what the plans actually were - something which amused the many adults around her greatly. When she was finished she looked to the man in charge and grinned. "It seems that the problem is disorganization so maybe I can help. Everyone's trying to do different tasks in the same location at once so let's do it this way. While these men" she would point toward a specific group on a piece of paper where the tasks for everyone were laid out "lay down the support boards have these other men" again another point of her finger "begin cutting the boards that are supposed to go down over the supports. This way the support beams will be done by the time they're ready to lay down the freshly cut ones. Then the support beam team can go off to lunch while the others get to work laying down the actual boards. When they're done, which should take just about enough time for the support beam team to have a decent lunch and come back then that team can go to lunch and more support beams can be laid down further on." The adults were amazed by the sheer genius behind the plan, and a few of the older ones even muttered about how smart the youth was these days. The foreman nodded his head and sent them off to work following the exact plan that Kaia had laid out for them to follow.

It worked flawlessly. While the support beams were being put into place the other team was busy cutting the walking beams that would be laid down on top of those. Once the support team was done doing their section they went off to lunch and the other team got busy laying the boards down. By the time they were done and heading off to lunch the other team was back to lay down some more support beams so that the structure could continue to grow. Kaia stayed the entire time to ensure things still continued to work smoothly. When it was quitting time she hoped on Momaru's back - who had been standing nearby and watching everything in silence the entire time - and the pair headed home along with everyone else.
