Katara

Get focused. It was time to go. Rinkei and Katara were officially making their way from the Village Hidden in the Leaves to the Village Hidden in the Mist. It all felt so surreal to Katara now, she was actually doing it. Her whole family, her friends, every memory that she held dear to her - gone, it just a few moments. Part of Katara felt absolutely devastated about this whole event, she was going to miss everyone she had met, she swore she was going to be the hero that Konoha deserves. But it wasn't happening, Katara knew what her goal was, and there was no way in any shape or form that Konohagakure was the place to be to achieve those goals. She didn't want to be known as an average middle class ninja that could easily be killed by an S-Ranked Ninja, she wanted to be known as the fearless Senju who resembles strength of those equal to the First, Second, and Seventh Hokage.

Kirigakure no Sato. It was the perfect place to go to train to be a better ninja, as it was the biggest military superpower village known in the current world of today's life. They've had a rough past, especially during the early years of the start of the village. Being betrayed by Iwagakure may have hit their diplomatic relations hard, along with the forceful control of Obito Uchiha over the Fourth Mizukage, but somehow they were able to climb ahead and become a successful village. I would've hated to live in Kirigakure no Sato during the time where they were referred to as The Village Hidden in the Bloody Mist - I couldn't even imagine killing all of my companions that I was raised and grew up with, Katara thought to herself as Rinkei and her were travelling through the dense Konoha forests. For it being true that Kirigakure had a rough history, the reign of Mizukage Ayakashi has been nothing but good for the village, being transformed into a village of impenetrable defense was something that it needed after it's hard-boiled barbaric history.

Katara appreciated everything that Kirigakure had to offer, as it surpassed her home in Konohagakure in so many ways. She's always been baffled that Kiri has their own set of Amaterasu Emergency Procedures, while Konoha has never even heard of those types of rulings - and the Uchiha were born in Konoha! If anything, it should've been Konoha who made these procedures and shared them to the rest of the world, as their home to the threat! But it was out of her control, if Konoha were to get any better it seemed that they would need a replacement of Kage who was in the presence of the village. No one has seen the Hokage in days, or even months! Where could he have possibly gone? The village needed guidance, it needed improvement - sure, nothing that serious may be going on right now, but it needed to get put back on the power rankings if it wanted to continue it's glory.

Still making great strides through the forest, Katara looked over at Rinkei and wanted to analyze how she felt about this whole situation. "Rinkei-kun, what are you thinking right now? What is our plan for when we reach Kirigakure no Sato? We have no idea what we are running into, as neither of us have ever traveled to this distant land.". Katara was curious on so many things at this point in time, and wanted to know desperately. This isn't a game, as it never was - it just got way more serious than it has ever been. At any moment if they were caught, they would both be charged for desertion, and only god knows what kind of punishments are in store for people who desert their own village.

Katara looked forward as she kept mindlessly sprinting, making her way towards the Village Hidden in the Mist, awaiting a response from Rinkei - the closest friend she's ever had.

Rinkei

Rinkei

Dead leaves crunched under Rinkei's feet as her and Katara walked through a dense forest. It had taken them a while to figure out which direction they were going considering they had never traveled so far outside of the village, but they figured it out, and were now on their way. Katara had been so worried about leaving. She had so much more to lose than Rinkei did. Friends, family, good memories, everything, and Rinkei was taking her away from that. Was this selfish of her? She didn't want to think about it, the fact that Katara was there with Rinkei at that moment only showed what a true friend Katara Senju was. Rinkei would never let this girl leave her sights, she couldn't bare the idea of losing her.

This was so abnormal for such a newly found friendship.

Rinkei was more worried about getting to Kirigakure safely than anything. One of three things could go wrong in that situation. They could be apprehended by Konaha shinobi and captured and taken back. Someone could even attempt to kill the two of them on this mission. Or the girls could simply get lost. Rinkei wasn't prepared for any of these events to happen and wanted so badly to avoid them completely. They knew that anything was possible though, so they were on guard.

What made it worse was the fact that Rinkei had not trained any useful jutsu yet. It was so dumb of her to get started so late, she should have just done that first instead of attempting to get faster or stronger. A strong Shinobi had good jutsu. This could have possibly ended bad.

The two girls had not spoken for a while since they left Konaha, they were still probably attempting to grasp the fact that they had just left their home village for good. It was indeed scary. Katara, however, broke the silence by asking what Rinkei's plans were. Honestly, she had no idea what her plans were, she was hoping to find someone to possibly take them in and possibly train the two of them, but she hadn't gotten much further than just leaving Konaha. Rinkei was proving to be a horrible leader. But she was just going with her gut on this one, and sometimes a Shinobi had to do that.

Rinkei swallowed hard on her own saliva, afraid to give the girl an answer because she had no legitimate answer. She answered truthfully anyways because it would be no use lying to her friend. "Honestly Katara...I hadn't got much further than us leaving the village...I was so caught up in the moment that I just made a rash decision. I'm sorry..." Rinkei paused for a moment, eyeing the young girl. She had a burst of confidence in that moment, making her eyes gleam with passion "Please understand that I will never let anything happen to you, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make this work. Okay?" She finished strongly, nodding her head once at Katara.

Rinkei believed her own words for once. She was completely prepared to give her life for Katara, regardless of only meeting her yesterday. She took on that role the minute she stole Katara from her parents. It was only right that Rinkei gave it her all. She knew in her mind that everything would turn out for the better and that both of them would finally reach their goals in this new place. The plan had to work, or she would have just ended up lying to Katara, and she didn't want that. However, Rinkei couldn't think about this any longer, she needed to focus on getting to their destination first.

Next stop, Kirigakure.

Katara

Still awaiting a response from Rinkei, Katara could tell that she looked a bit nervous when she asked what the next plan or objective was. The answer she got, did not give her any sort of closure what so ever. Katara could tell that the second she asked the question frightened Rinkei a little, which then of course caused her to frighten a little bit as well. Doing something as dangerous as leaving the village that you were born and raised in, to go to another village where you know little to nothing about, is silly. Katara went into this thinking that Rinkei had devised a plan of how they would execute this bold move of going the Kiri, which is extremely illegal without Kage permission. Now that Katara knows there is an uncertain chance of even being accepted into the Village Hidden in the Mist's shinobis ranks.... It really doesn't change anything.

Back when Katara was studying in the Academy, the one thing she absolutely loved was reading old tales of other legendary shinobis that existed during the time of the Great Ninja Wars. There were so many interesting stories for her to read, as they were the explanations of how and why the village and shinobi system is the way it is today. One legendary shinobi stands out to Katara the most, one that Katara loves to read about and gets some inspiration from - Sasuke Uchiha. In the tales of Sasuke Uchiha, written by the infamous Naruto Uzumaki, it states that as a small child, he was able to successfully desert the land of Konohagakure and go to an unknown location to study under a snake like shinobi with a disclosed name. It was there that he became one of the most powerful shinobi to ever live, if not the strongest, having strength compared to Naruto-senpai. Sasuke never needed another to grow strong in when he left, he stayed out in The Wilderness and achieved the goals that he had planned to achieve.

That being said, Katara knew for a fact that she didn't need Kirigakure if things didn't go her way - but boy did she want to be apart of that society. You see it all over the news, the way the Kirigakure economy is going, their military - that is what Konoha should have been like for all these years, it's such a shame to have such a lazy Kage in office. It mattered very little to Katara, whichever route they went, as she was perfectly fine with either option, she was sure of it.

Finally getting around to responding to Rinkei, "I have full confidence in our ability to succeed; there's no need to protect me. I can protect myself.", she said sternly. Katara may have come off a little mean to Rinkei, but it was necessary for her to know she didn't have to be her valiant protector. If things were to go south, Katara would never want Rinkei to sacrifice her own life, no matter what the circumstances were. She was one hundred percent confident that they would be able to get to Kirigakure in a safe fashion, as to who would be so mean as to attack two Konoha Genin? As that was what they still were; property of Konoha. It disgusted Katara to even think about herself being owned by such a village where they grow weak shinobi.

Katara continued to run forward through the forest, leaping from tree to tree, hoping that they would arrive in Kiri soon enough, as she was ready to continue her journey with her Hyuga best friend.

(OOC: No need to roll for intervention, since I'm ANBU. Gotta protect the village's best interests and all.)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯:

Aiza had been in the ANBU for well over a year now and had established himself as a force to be reckoned with, even though he hadn't been quite as active in missions lately as he had been in the past. No, now that Konoha was in a much calmer state than it had been over the course of the past years and what with the old Hokage's assassination followed with Sousetsu's rise to the position, things had been rather calm and his work had been restricted to papers and the occasional escort. His usual patrol that day however had been slightly different, and it wasn't much of a threat that faced him but instead a minor dilemma that would need taking care of. Using his advanced sensory technique and hawk eyes, he caught notice of two rather weak chakra signatures making their out of the village. He knew for a fact that they didn't have permission because he would have known about it, either from the Hokage or some other official in the village. This meant one thing and one thing only; some genin had the smart idea to defect from Konoha. As established before, though, he wasn't worried. It wasn't a threat to the village's safety but a mere crime against the village that needed due punishment. He pursued them from the shadows, entirely undetected, moving about in the trees and keeping track of where they were headed.

From their talk, apparently they were headed to Kirigakure, and their chosen path proved this further. He figured it would be wise to stop them before they actually entered the land of waves because once they did they were no longer under the jurisdiction of Konohagakure no Sato, technically. He needed to stop them before they could successfully defect. So, he picked up the pace and stopped in the trees just in front of them. They were moving close enough to hear each other speak and so they would surely both catch sight of him, and likely try to escape once they saw his uniform and wolf mask, which was secured over his face. His deep red hair fell out from the sides but his azure eyes were hidden beneath the porcelain as he glared down at the pair. When he spoke, his voice came out distorted and monstrous, like an inhuman growl, thanks to the mask's properties and an ANBU-specific technique. "Where do you think you're going?" he prepared hand seals for a jutsu; it didn't need to be a powerful one, at least not yet, since they were only genin. He wanted to intimidate them now more than anything, and there was no need to waste chakra on killing them unless they showed any further resistance. His kunai and shuriken were in his pouch for fast ranged attacks, but he hoped for a close quarters fight since it was his specialty.

"Defecting from the village is high treason...I know you're only genin, but you should know that." Water began to envelop his fist but he let it rest there since attacking them immediately wasn't in his best interest, and they may have surrendered to him just seeing that they'd been caught leaving. His eyes tracked their movements carefully.

Yoichi Uchiha

Yoichi Uchiha

D-rank
OOC: Was invited into the thread before ANY interventions were made, by Katara and Rinkei both. Not intervening, simply entering.

Yoichi had had an interesting encounter with a Hyuuga girl not too long ago. It didn't happen right away of course, but throughout the course of the conversation, the Eye-patched Uchiha had gathered some information from the Hyuuga girl, information that could be relatively bad should it get out. It appeared that she expressed interest in defecting from Konoha. Of course, the Uchiha didn't have any great love for Konoha, but he knew that there would be certain obstacles blocking her from escaping. For his own reasons, perhaps, Yoichi gave his assurance that she would receive assistance in leaving, and that he'd do his best to help her.

To that end, Yoichi had been following her rather stealthily, at least as much as he could do. And she'd brought along a friend. It made it slightly easier to track her, which meant ANBU would have an easier time following as well, considering they were both genin, and didn't yet know how to move without being tracked by higher ranked shinobi. Yoichi wasn't the best at it, but they weren't doing much in the way of helping their cause. But, if anything, Yoichi was a man of his word. He'd do what he could to assist them, even if it meant only being a distraction.

So it was, that Yoichi had continued tailing them. Sure, there were higher ups that if they decided to, would be able to muscle past Yoichi with little issue, but he hoped that he'd be able to either distract them enough to allow the two to escape or perhaps convince them that it wasn't worth it to stop the genin from leaving. Whatever the case may be, Yoichi knew he would perhaps need to leave the country himself as well, and if they were already on their way to Kiri, then that would perhaps be the safest place to be.

Yoichi saw it almost instantly. The ANBU wasn't making any attempt to hide himself, or be sneaky. There wasn't any need to. It was two genin. And Yoichi, of course, but the ANBU might have just assumed Yoichi was following them to gain information, if he had noticed his presence. Sighing to himself, Yoichi dashed forward, stepping out into the open and ruining any element of surprise he may have had, as he ran up to the genin, Katara and Rinkei, and placed himself between them and the ANBU. Facing the ANBU, Yoichi held up his hands as if to say stop. "I understand, you're doing your job. But is it necessary to stop them? Must this end violently if they are to continue? Perhaps you can report in to the Kage, and find his thoughts on the matter. Maybe they'll be allowed to go. I'm Yoichi Uchiha, my files show I have been a ward of the Orochi clan, serving directly under Lady Risu. My word might mean more, if you know that, especially since my name might actually mean something to you. I would stay with these two, if needed. I would even travel with them, if the Lord Hokage needed an eye kept on them. But this doesn't have to end in a way that necessitates violence or either party needing to back down from their desires." he chimed in.

He hadn't lied, in actuality. Lady Risu was known to be Lamya, ANBU captain. Most ANBU had some knowledge of Yoichi purely through that connection, although little actual information on him was available, apart from rank. Besides, he would stay with them. Meaning, of course, he would simply leave with them if the ANBU was foolish enough to do as asked. And if not, then perhaps a fight was necessary. For now, though, the Uchiha simply looked out at the ANBU, his one good eye imploring the ANBU to do as asked. It would be better for everyone involved. The eye patch that covered his other eye gave away the appearance that one of his eyes was missing, which anyone could guess had involved a situation in which combat had been necessary. In addition to his rank notably being Chuunin, Yoichi wasn't inexperienced, and anyone would be able to see that much.

After Rinkei saw the Anbu member appear in the trees before her, she immediately regretted her decision on leaving Konaha. She looked at Katara and gave her a small frown. Silently telling her that their journey was already over. She looked back up at the Anbu and threw up her hands.

"Alright, you got me, I'm going back, chill."

She turned around and started walking back to the village, shaking her head in spite of the events.
