Quick!Sakumi leaped towards the door and tripped over her dress.A desk made contact with her head and almost knocked her out of impact. The crash caused several books to fall onto her head.Ow.Sakumi rubbed her head painfully.Of course, something like this would happen when a store was just about to close.Someone went to her side and helped her up with a warm smile."Are you okay Miss.?" the woman just in front of her asked."Yes.Thank you for your concern..." Sakumi whispered.Sakumi rubbed her head more as she pretended to shake it off and look around as quickly as possible. She was shopping for a gift for Elin. She wanted to thank him for his help during their little mission and for moving onto his next round.Sure she hadn't made it.But she was proud for him and thought it would be a great excuse to give him something special that might help him some day.She didn't know what to get yet, but it had to speak to her in some way.The store was gonna close soon and she needed to hurry up.She felt slight rushed.

She looked at a stack of candy.Elin liked chocolate. . .but she had to think at least slightly bigger. She didn't want to buy weapons. It would be helpful, but it wouldn't feel much like a gift or present to her.She was in a dilemma. She looked over at a stack of notebooks and walked over.Nice.This would be a great gift for Elin. She had seen him use a few Fuuninjutsu's during the mission in Onigakure.Maybe he could use the pages for his own use.She picked a red one and calmly walked to the counter. The woman at the register gave her the price and Sakumi paid with little hesitation. Now all she had to do was find Elin and give him it.Sakumi waved goodbye and ran back to her inn room. She took a quick bath and then redressed in more training fit clothes. She adjusted her forehead protector in different areas and found herself completely dissatisfied in the end.Why was it so hard to look half decent.Noticing her hair was messy, Sakumi picked a brush from her backpack and began brushing her hair down.Straightening it out.

After brushing it, she put her forehead protector on her head like a headband. She tied it from the underneath and smile a tiny bit.She grabbed her old purple ribbon and tied it over the small notebook. While she had confidence at the moment, she knew it would be almost impossible for her to give it to Elin without dying of embarrassment. She had to be strong. No turning back now.Elin was a friend. She had to at least feel safe with a friend. One who had befriended her when she was scared. The one who was willing to fight for her.The one willing to help her up when she had fallen.Someone who would stay by her side.Elin wouldn't be mean about her gift. He'd be happy.Because it was the thought that truly counted.Though words speak loudly, actions would always speak loudest.Even with no voice to make its point clear. She had hidden from people too long for her taste. She wanted to be with Elin.To hug him almost every day.To walk with him.To eat with him.Without a second's thought, Sakumi put her dress on and left her pouch on the bed.She took the notebook and walked out of her room, and from there into the streets of Kumogakure no Sato.

She found herself instantly lost. She wanted to back out now.'Calm down Sakumi. . .you explored with Elin over in this district. . .you can't be lost now,' Sakumi thought to herself.'you only think your lost due to fear. . .so try not to be scared anymore.'Sakumi tried her best to calm down but just got even more frightened. She backed up into a wall and broke out running into a different direction.'Sakumi You're useless! You can't even calm down enough to find a person you care about!' Sakumi yelled mentally. She stopped and began crying.'you were never fit to be a shinobi. . .you got your butt kicked in the chunin exams and during the fight with the chimera and wolf!'Sakumi felt weak. And lonely. She felt more alone than any emotion at the moment. She could never make anyone proud. Not Elin. Not her mother.Not Kaekio.Not even Tenzo if she tried. Some shinobi she was.Her body was burning in raw fear.Emotions fighting for control over her.

The small little boy had woken up earlier in the hospital and was still recovering from the mess that was the attack of the Chimera. He had suffered some burns, several cuts as well as nearly busting his knees as he was too weak to do the things he did that day. He had been through the horror of the illusions of genjutsu and now was dealing with the horrors of nearly losing the one he cared about most. Someone who had snuck into his heart as he did not fully understand.

He was coughing a bit as he had only just recovered in time for his next fight which would be soon from now, however the thing that was most important now was that he recover and that he makes sure Sakumi is okay as he was really attached to her now. As he began to think back to that day when she nearly went away.

The boy snapped out of his blood fuelled range as he walked over slowly as the flames smelled of burnt snake and char grilled lion. He took each step slowly and with great need as his body could barely move, with each step he reached out to her as he finally came to rest beside her as he fell to his one knee and stopped himself pressing against the wall that was her last stand that day. He looked at her then felt her head as she seemed really warm there as he looked down at her, he said softly.

"Sakumi?" as he felt for her pulse as he sighed in relief as tears began to flow from his eyes as he then cried out loudly with great emotion. "Somebody help, anybody, somebody please help!!!" as he cried out nobody answered as he felt his strength fading. He reached out and snuck one arm under her back and he struggled but found a way to get his left arm under her knee. He cried out with great effort as he lifted up Sakumi, being so small made the task rather difficult as it was not an issue of weight. This was an imbalance that would have been easier to deal with had they not gone into battle this day as he walked slowly.

With each step he grew stronger, and with the very next step he would feel his strength leaving him. He willed himself on as he walked through the mud as he thought he would be able to get to solid ground as the mud clung to his feet. The smoke going up into the air as the clouds began to turn a dark black colour, he kept on walking as he whispered softly. "Hang in there Sakumi, please do not leave me."

He stepped onwards as the clouds kept building up as he kept on going, struggling and fighting with just his will to keep him going and the feelings inside his heart that would not let go of her. He took each and every step with several layers of mixed emotions he was not ready for, feelings he did not understand and the world around them seemed to be doing all it could to get in their way. It was then that he finally heard the clash of lightning amongst the clouds as they would soon understand why this was called the village of the Hidden Cloud. The storm finally began as the clouds burst releasing a vicious torrent of monsoon like waters beating down on them as he felt a pain in all his wounds as the winds picked up pelting against his body as he tried his best to make haste. It was a good thing she was not awake for this, it was a good thing that she was alive, it was good to be alive with her in the world, in the world so big that would feel so empty without her as he kept on going. The animals all ran into their burrows while others hid inside trees to escape the sheer force of the storming gale force of torrents that blasted down upon this world as the smoke of the fires had been put out as he kept onward in his journey. All he thought about was getting Sakumi to safety as soon as possible as his eyes became dreary and his legs felt like they could no longer move as it felt like the rain was tearing into his flesh like a blood thirsty raging beast that would not let him and his love be.

He kept on walking as the rain did not relent as he fell as he spun around so that he hit his back as she landed on top of him as he looked to the sky as he cried out as the rain nearly was drowning him as it filled his mouth as he cough choking on it. He could barely see as he began to rise up, back on his feet while lifting Sakumi. She was not waking and she could get sick if this rain lasted any longer, he kept walking until he saw in the distance, as he charged towards there releasing the last burst of energy had left running towards the outpost. As he reached there the shinobi guards all raising their weapons until they saw the boy fall face first as the girl fell on top of him also out of it. The shinobi immediately rushed both of them to the hospital once identified, it was unclear what had happened to Sakumi after that but Elin had been put under top priority as he needed to be good for the next round of the chuunin exams as they worked throughout the time period to fully heal all his wounds.

He was nearly fully recovered as he woke up and asked the medical staff where Sakumi was as they answered she was fine and went to go stay in an inn. Did she abandon him for being too weak, was it all his fault for not being better prepared as he felt like crying. He got given the address for the inn as he began to wonder into the streets of Kumogakure. He was lost and tired wondering where she was as he reached the inn and got told she went out somewhere, as he was about to cry as he kept wondering around and finally fell down back first against a wall and began hugging his knees against his chest all alone.

A girl ran frantically passed him almost as if it was destiny as he saw the beautiful hair before him, the body of a girl destined to become a goddess one day. She was about to pass him by as he shouted out to her. "Sakumi!!" he was crying as he kept hugging his knees to his chest as his feet were a bit cold as the wind blew his hair. He was not even dressed properly as he had a plain white shorts and a loose pale baby blue t-shirt as he did not even expect to find her having nearly lost all hope. She did look different though, she wore a strange outfit she was wearing a dress? His tears just kept flowing as he would hope for her to stop and notice the failure that was her friend Elin. His heart was racing as he could not understand this feeling deep down inside. This feeling he hoped to understand itself may have been hope or was it a deeper feeling, a feeling of love.

Sakumi the coward.Sakumi the weak link. The useless kunoichi. The small Nekomata girl who was too fragile, too soft hearted.

Sakumi stopped as she thought someone called her name.E-Elin?Sakumi rubbed the tears out of her eyes and tried to look for her friend. The one who had brought her back from hell.Fought side by side with her.The one she loved. The one she wanted to hug and say 'I love you'.Love.The thing that was worth fighting for.All the lies. All the deception.Everything was worth it in the end.To tell them your feelings. To kiss them.To be with them every day of your life.If Sakumi was to be fighting for anyone it would have to be Elin.Sakumi darted her eyes to look for the blonde hair on Elin.Relief came suddenly as she saw him.And her heart actually skipped a beat.People also say when you see someone you loved, your heart would stop momentarily for no real reason.Well, Sakumi could prove that it was true. She more tears away before speaking. "Elin!Over here!" She didn't care if she attracting attention at the moment. She just cared about having Elin in her arms for the much-needed comfort. She remembered everything she had endured without him.

It was difficult for her to fight alone and not be an idiot. But, fighting with Elin by her side gave her the motivation to actually move and not take all the hits.Without Elin, she was weak-willed and a coward who hated fighting. Not fit for a kunoichi.Never fit for a kunoichi. Also worthless and useless, just fodder to feed the real shinobi in battle before the stronger ninja came to actually win. With Elin, she became stronger and braver. That's something she always wanted to have.To just be with him.But she could never speak her quiet words and wishes to Elin. She was always scared of rejection. She was going to say it.She was going to say it today that she liked him.Rejection or not she had to try her best.To let Elin know that she loved him.Sakumi let her head look at the floor a bit. What was she going to even say anyway?I like you I hope you like me back?Kami, she had to think of something as fast as possible.Something hinting at love bt not too obvious or it would be awkward.

Sakumi would walk absentmindedly for a few seconds and then rise her head in a smile.Fidgeting and growing a small blush she would finally speak out her mind and say."Do you wanna go for a walk, Elin-kun?We can go explore and I can give you a small surprise I've been meaning to get for you for quite a while now,"Of course she would have her descending voice get smaller as she spoke to her crush, in the hope he wouldn't hear anything he wouldn't like her to say.She was afraid of saying something wrong, like most would be when speaking to  someone they liked or admired.Things would just get even more awkward if he- no, when he became chuunin.

Was it the churning feeling in her stomach? Or was it the point her head was redder than a cherry tomato but, she felt like fainting before seeing him and it wasn't going to get better anytime soon. She was always very nervous, even when there was no true need.It was a very small big flaw in her personality.

As if it was fated in the heart of the way of the shinobi life. She called to him to come over as he brushed off his tears in his arm not fully realising how much of a child he was being right now as he sprung up and ran towards her, it never even occurred to him that she might be someone disguised as Sakumi. This was a sign of how blind he was, blinded by love and as they say love makes you blind to all the flaws or bad things in life. He began approaching her fast but then she started walking strangely as he slowed down and noticed her raise her head with a smile, he was a bit caught off guard at that moment as she was fidgeting and blushing. He blushed to instinctively, but he did not notice this at all due to the rush of emotions bombarding him like the waves of the ocean. An ocean rich with the crimson blood flow of the heart that made it seem as if she was drowning him in a love potion.

She asked if he wanted to go for a walk and called him Elin-kun as she mentioned a small surprise if he went exploring with her. He looked at her as he began to have tears fill in his eyes as he just bumped into Sakumi to try and snap her out of whatever was bothering her. He would then look up to her slowly with his big red eyes all shiny and watery as he spoke softly to her like a confused or lost child.

"You can still call me Elin, please do not push me away." He had misinterpreted her actions, he felt that she added the Elin-kun to say they were not the way they were before which was friends at the time, he did not really understand it but he knew when you were close to someone you did not need to say more then the name of the one you love, he also thought for a moment she wanted them to explore so she could soften him up for some bad news. Maybe she did not like him, what if he did something horrible to Sakumi without knowing it. As he leaned against her as he would slowly then proceed to hug her in hopes of not letting her leave him behind. He was younger at heart even though he was just as old as her, like the gift of genes for the young to be big and the old to be small, though they were both young and both confused.

Was this love or were they both trapped within a crush that could only end badly, this was a leap of faith and the small boy did not have it in him to know how he really felt or how to make the first move. Their fate rested more on how brave Sakumi could be as the boy was brave, he just was too confused to make use of that. Where would this love take them, will this be the end or will this be the beginning of a path that they can never break off from. Their fate was now interlinked and Sakumi held the key to his future and hers.

Sakumi felted a bit confused when Elin told her not to push him away and to still call him Elin.Did he think she didn't like him or something? She didn't want to seem that way to him.Especially since she had a liking for him.She thought it was intriguing that Elin was acting so scared and concerned about her.She didn't realize she was missing an important link that Elin was giving her the key to.Mutal crushes.Sakumi looked at Elin teary eyes. The beautiful blood red eyes, she allowed her own dark purple eyes connect into his.She wasn't skilled in eye contact. But Elin made it easier for her.

Was it possible they were meant to be together one day? Or was it fate playing a cruel joke of love? She had never felt strong feelings for those of the opposite gender.Or any gender for that matter. But Elin made all the difference to this.He gave her feelings she never felt before.Thoughts she never thought of.The confidence she'd never have if she never went to the chunin exams. She was supposed to meet Elin one day.

Sakumi blushed as she thought of what to say to the teary-eyed blonde boy.She wanted to start up a nice and friendly note from Elin's previous comment on not leaving each other alone. She was going to leave Kumogakure in a few days, and she also wanted to give Elin her present before then.'Why is it so hard to think of something. . .I mean. . .he is a close friend. . .why am I so shy?' Sakumi thought. She didn't know why she felt these ways about Elin. She simply just did, but emotions had more to that right?

"E-Elin-kun. . .I mean Elin, I'm not going to push you away no matter what.Your one of my only friends, you mean a lot to me no matter what happens between us. . .want to go get food somewhere? Or maybe have a picnic somewhere?" Sakumi asked. "I mean if you want to Elin."Without thinking, Sakumi would pull Elin into a loose hug and kiss him on the forehead.Much like her mother used to do when she was younger.Something that always made Sakumi feel more special every time it was performed. Her brain wanted to share this action of affection with her crush.May it by accident or by the uncontrollable urge of love.Sakumi would soon realize what she did and pull up her arms quickly and allowing her body to lock up and fall to the ground with a thud.Repeating her previous actions in her head with red all over her face. She wouldn't want to say it was an accident. She wouldn't want to admit her crush yet either. She was always scared of everything no matter what would pursue. But she wasn't scared of Elin in particular. Her following actions, however, would heavily affect her emotions at the moment.

As their eyes were trapped in a moment, a moment that if lost could maybe never again be grasped. You only live once, but sometimes a moment can last a life time and never end. The nature of the concept known to many as love, while it had great potential for good it also had the potential for great darkness as well. The darkness that we all learned to call hate, it was the concept that drove men to war and women to tears as children in their innocence were trapped within the circle of love and hate knowing only to follow that which their heart knew to be true.

He saw her face turn red as she was blushing something he had not fully learned to understand. He had yet to fully understand the pain of a broken heart, since his heart was broken from the start. Like an art that could not be fully understood until it was gone, in a life so short yet so long. In truth there were others inside his heart and inside that special place, Sakumi would have a special place for her special face. He cared not of whether she was as strong as an ox or as beautiful as a swan. Whether she ran as fast as a cheetah or was as graceful as an antelope. She was more than just a woman, more than just a girl, she was no animal or mere person to him. She had a place that no one else could lay claim to, it was her moment and her time to decide whether she would enter and claim her throne in the heart of this boys heart, in the center of all his multiple emotions.

She called his name out hesitant at first as she did not fully understand what it was that would soon take away their happy ending. She said she would never push him away no matter what, however even she must have known she was promising the impossible for the future had something in store for them that would change their lives and their destined path forever. She said he was one of her only friends, but was she truly that alone or had she shut off the world for too long to understand all those hands reaching out to her. He meant a lot to her and she meant a lot to him, but did they understand what this would mean in a World on the brink of War.

She asked him if he wanted some food or to go on a picnic as he was hungry and most likely she was too, but right now his emotions were too uncertain at this point in time. He looked up to her then she did something that would break his heart, or to be more emphasised she shattered his emotions in a way that even he could not understand as he felt her lips upon his forehead as his world would soon come to an end. The tears that were built up began to overflow in the chaos of a river of tears rushing towards the end of their banks as they crashed upon the edges and then stormed down his soft cheeks as they made a waterfall of emotions that were now shattered beyond repair.

It was then that he would seem to misunderstand, but his mind would refuse to accept it. At least not at this moment when his heart was so fragile as she fell to the floor as he was in too much shock as slid down in a half split as he slipped down the sides of his knees resting on the ground while his feet were behind him as he looked before him as Sakumi lay their hurt. What was going on in this world that was all their own as he reached out to try and carry Sakumi but he was still hurt and he was confused as he was not sure what to do her snuggled his face into her chest as he listened to her heart beat. He would not leave her as he soon began losing consciousness too. However he could not let himself drift into a deep sleep even with the comfort he felt being close to her, that still heart beat of hers echoing as his heart began to race as his mind began to lose its grip on reality.

It was then that he remembered her laying before him, that moment with the chimera that was still fresh in his mind. He could not let go of this feeling of loss, this feeling of guilt, the feelings so deep inside that his mind had finally built. The bonds which they now shared, the feelings of how he now cared. A world that seemed to be against them, a love growing from root to stem. From this stem a flower would soon bud, as the plant would survive the thickest of mud. It was time for his love to show, it was time for his mind to know. He was not alone and this was the girl he would love, as he would reach out far above. She was the core of who he was, the trust at the beginning of the end last. The last moment he would understand in the scheme of moments so grand.

Soon the time would come for all of them to realise, what it meant to truly be wise. In a world lost at sea, there was only Sakumi.

He would keep crying as he soon snuggled his chin in the center of her chest as he would look to her face crying. "Sakumi, please wake up. Please do not leave me again." had she understood what he meant when he said she should not leave him. In the exams when she was defeated she had left him, in their battle with the chimera she left him, was she going to leave him again. Did she understand the fragile shards of his shattered heart as cried into her chest and began hitting the ground with his fist.

"Sakumi!!!!!!!!!!"

"Sakumi?" Sakumi's memory faded back to the faded voice of Elin.'This feels oddly familiar regrettably,' Sakumi thought to herself. Her mind thought back to blood that surrounded Elin and her after they fought the chimera. The memory of pain and nausea roaming throughout her fragile and small body."Somebody help, anybody, somebody please help!!!"She remembered feeling Elin's arms lifting her back into the air, with her being weak and unable to move much."Hang in there Sakumi, please do not leave me." Sakumi could remember fading in and out of fainting as Elin's voice echoed through her head. She never wanted to leave him alone in this situation. She felt useless. All she did was make a barrier and turn some of the grass into mud.But even then, it was Elin who did all the fighting. She cursed her weak body for not letting her be able to fight better and much more agile like Elin was.And she always fainted, her body was weak when blood and pain was involved in horrid amounts. She only lasted longer because she was trying to help Elin. She only hardly helped him, only added more worrying for Elin. She wanted to protect him like he did for her.He was her friend, an ally, someone who she wouldn't ever try to hurt if fighting or killing was involved. Not for her village, not for her Kage, not even for the sake of her own life. She wouldn't find the heart to kill him.He held a piece in her heart she couldn't unlock by herself.

Sakumi took in deep breaths as she remembered all the calmer times she hung out with Elin."Sakumi, please wake up. Please do not leave me again."Sakumi's body loosened up, she felt a little more calmer but had a strange feeling that someone was laying on her.In the matter of fact, it was Elin's head in her chest.Sakumi blushed a bit at the realization Elin was crying. She didn't want him to cry, it would only make her cry.But she had to be the pillar that would make him stop crying uncontrollably. She promised not to leave him.She had to go back to Konoha at some point but yet, she didn't want to leave Elin behind. She wanted to spend a bit more time with him.She wanted to admit her true endless feelings for him.She wanted to be strong. She couldn't be strong without teamwork and determination.Something Elin could easily.Something Sakumi needed the motivation to perform alone.Like how speaking was, something that needed to have hidden reason behind it.Maybe even like love.Something that would never end if it was with the right person.'Weakness is a choice . . . my weakness is being shy . . . and always feeling alone.I don't want to be alone anymore. There's no going back now.'Sakumi thought with a sense of fear repeating through her head. She wanted to show her feelings. And she was going to show her feelings.Now.

Sakumi would grab the notebook near he before placing on the ground right next to her.She would then push herself up and support Elin's head closer to her."E-Elin . . .I'm okay, I just want to say. . .I-I want to be . . .more than f-friends.P-please, accept my c-confession."She would stutter quietly. She would avert any eye contact with Elin as she would continue to hug him."I-I hope you don't h-hate me or anything Elin, but I- I . . .I'm gonna just shut up and wait for your answer Elin because I never mean to hurt your feelings. . .I m-make mistakes when it comes to people I care about. But your no m-mistake for me.I-I wish you the best of luck in your next stage, Elin." She was scared of the possible rejection from him.But she had to get rid of her secrecy and try to approach it straight forward. She had said it quietly and was not very clear in her voice. At best, Elin would only pick up fractions of her admission. She had to get anything she could manage out there to him."I-I got you this."Sakumi would squeak, holding the notebook in front of her with tightly shut eyes.

He had the sniffles as his tears were still flowing as he felt her move, as he looked to Sakumi reach for something as he felt her rise from her laid position as she sat up. He was trying his best to stop the tears as they began to still flow slightly but not as much as they were before as he sniffed a bit again.

She said to Elin that she was okay and that she wanted to say something important. She told the small confused and emotional boy that she wanted to be more then friends. She asked him to please accept her confession as she seemed to be avoiding his gaze as he sniffled more still a bit lost in the situation. She spoke of him hating her, of her having to keep quiet, of all the mistakes she made and that she wished him luck. So many things she said at once as he tried to figure out what was going on.

She then gave him the notebook as a gift as he looked to her for a moment as the clouds began to gather over head. The overcast clouds were coming and it would be raining later that day. How long could they stay together and would it even be possible for him to give her the answer she wanted, or better yet give her the answer she deserved and the very answer that she needed. That they both needed as the wind began blowing as he did not even understand why she would get him a gift. The notebook was red like his eyes, had she been thinking of him that much. His big red eyes that people hated to look at, did she actually like them.

He then leaned in closer as the moment as he did something he was once taught as a sign for exchanging feelings. He was not sure how she would respond or if she understood what he would mean but he was too nervous to say it in words and was too confused to say anything much as he looked down also averting his eyes as he blushed like a nervous wreck and a reckless mess.

"Sakumi, I know I might be a bit stupid since well." He looks to the side his eyes wondering as he took the book and held it close before putting it down one side. "I do not understand, all I know is that I love you Sakumi". He then reached out and took her hand placing the palm of her hand on his chest as he placed the palm of his hand on her chest as he said to her as easily as he could while tears began flowing a bit.

"Maybe it's just me, but I hope you can understand how I feel right now." As his heart raced she would feel the intense beating of his heart at a speed that was in no way natural. He sniffed a bit more wondering if she understood his feelings which he did not fully understand. All he knew was to not when it hurt for someone to leave it meant you loved them, but to not see a world living without someone meant you were in love with them. He did not understand the difference too well, all he knew was that he did not want to be left alone anymore. Not when he found someone close to him that he looked to more then anyone else. She was the love of his life and whether more then friends meant the same for her as it meant for him.

Did she want to be best friends, did she want to be his girlfriend or did she just want to be his family. It was unclear what she meant but he knew that he wanted her with him from now until the end. It might sound stupid but he was hoping that her heart would race as wildly as his, even if it did not mean the same thing at least he would know their hearts would be in tune to the rush of feelings he felt as he would struggle to breathe as he would keep looking to sakumi with his bright red eyes that would never forget or let go of the beautiful girl that was before him.

Sakumi and Elin now were in a moment that could never be taken back, they could never again be friends. What they became from now would be the beginning of a True Love Story, or simply the start of an Emotional Tragedy from which they could never recover. However perhaps their destiny was a bit of both or all of the above. Did they understand the way the felt about eachother and would Elin who had just begun to learn of love understand what he was saying and did Sakumi who had opened up to love be able to support the feelings he has for her.

He would keep waiting for her answer for as long as it takes. The question that he was asking without saying a word, he was asking if Sakumi loved him too.
