There was one typical position that Axel would always walk in. He would have both of his hands behind his head and would have his chest puffed out slightly. One thing was for sure when he walked like this. He would always have a slight grin. At this very moment, his small grin was more of a large smile. The main reason for this is because of what was to come. Axel had been walking out to the Rolling Hills with a member of his squad. He looked over at Takao and nodded once. "This is exciting! I rarely ever get the chance to train with others. Especially one who is part of my squad AND has an opposite element." The hills came up rather quickly and they both wandered their way to a rather good spot. A small stream of water was nearby and the grass wasn't too high. "This spot good?"

Did he agree to this? Probably, his decision making abilities were sub-par early in the morning. But Takao would rather not break his word, despite not being the type of person who is particularly picky about doing so. Takao had even forgotten his coat at home, leaving him wearing only a black undershirt that was tucked into his regular uniform trousers and belt. Not a good way to start out the day, but at least he wouldn't have to worry about the coat getting wet or burnt.

As the pair approached the more grassy parts of the hills Takao began to stretch his arms and rotate his shoulders. "Looks fine to me. I can make fire anywhere, but do you water users still need a source to draw from? That stream seems a bit shallow." he noted. The stream, amongst other things, were all mentally noted as Takao surveyed his surroundings. Regardless of the location, Takao didn't have many fire jutsu in his arsenal to use... He would have to substitute quantity with strategy, and hopefully that would be enough to stand a chance.

Axel glanced over at the small stream and shrugged his shoulders. "Well, I can create a small amount of water without a source... It's just easier when I have one around." He took his sword off his back and flipped it around so the blunt side was showing. "I'm going to be using the blunt side of my sword either way. It won't cut you if I hit you with it. See?" To demonstrate what he said about his sword, he hit it against his arms and tired to cut with it. Like Axel had said, nothing happened to his clothing or arm. "You going to be okay with the sword...? Because if you think we should just work on elements, that's fine with me." He grinned once more and stuck his sword into the soft dirt in front of him.

He observed closely as Axel demonstrated the blunt edge of his sword and shrugged. "Sounds good to me. The more we train in realistic combat situations, the better we get overall, right?" he said as he cracked his knuckles. "To make it a bit more fair, I'll use a bit of taijutsu as well. Sound good?". He gave his arms a few good stretches and rotated his shoulder a few times, preparing himself for the spar ahead. After he finished with his half-assed stretching, Takao nodded to Axel. "I'm ready when you are." he said with confidence while lowering himself into a defensive-ready stance.

He was at a bit of a disadvantage here... Well, quite a disadvantage actually. Not only was his mock-opponent a user of water jutsu, which was the weakness of his jutsu, but Takao was also preparing to engage a sword with his bare hands. Oh well, there was nothing he could do about it now. At the very least, he'd get some practice going up against an opponent while unprepared. He simply raised his fists, bent his knees, and prepared for the fight.

"Alright... Let's go..." Axel cracked his neck slightly and held his sword up in a ready position. "Best of luck." He glared at Takao and bent his knees like he was going to rush. Quickly turning his sword around, he stuck it into the ground and put one hand up to his mouth. A small burst of water shot out and headed directly at Takao. As soon as he shot it, he grabbed his sword, pulled it out of the ground and began to run at Takao to follow up with his attack.

(OOC: Was that shot of water a jutsu? You need to deduct chakra and put the jutsu in spoilers if it is. if it isn't, well... no big deal either way.)

He'd of laughed if he had the time to. Takao was already getting a bit pumped up and enthusiastic over the fight that had yet to start, but despite his enthusiasm he wasn't about to get cocky. Takao was much more... calculated than that. He had somewhat of a plan ready in his mind, and a good idea of how he would be fighting, but that was for him to know and Axel to find out. "You too." was the only thing he said in response.
Evading the burst of water that shot towards him was fairly easy as he had nothing stopping him from dodging, aside from the slight confusion of Axel's rush-ready stance. He twisted his body and stepped back away from the shot of water, then prepared himself for the rush. Takao didn't react just yet, he waited for Axel to get closer.

The water shot continued on until it hit a hill in the distance. Seeing that his first attack didn't hit, Axel adjusted his direction to continue on with his attack. He gripped his sword and took a deep breath as he got closer to Takao. Once he was a few feet away, he put the blunt side of his blade up and took one large swing. He made a quick mental check to ensure himself that he wasn't open for a counter, but rushed the process so he could focus more on Takao.

(You're going to need to add the actual jutsu that was used in the spoiler as well as the deducted chakra.)

Despite his apparent disadvantages to Axel in the current situation, there was on advantage he possessed. Axel had to swing his sword, and that was extra weight, effort, and speed that was potentially wasted. Takao's advantage was that he could move freely without having to swing around the sword which would normally hinder his movement.
In response to the attack, Takao evaded the swing again as nothing blocked his movements. He immediately responded to Axel's swing by pivoting on his leg and lowering his body enough to use his swinging leg as a counterweight. The leg used as the counterweight was then swing around in an attempt to hit Axel from the side, his hopes were that he'd be able to catch Axel before he could retaliate with his sword. The kick only had an average amount of power and force behind it, or at least what could be considered average for a genin. Takao wasn't out to cause damage or pain, but during a spar he was bound to do just that. The goal of the kick was to attempt to knock Axel away with the use of a little extra force.

Axel saw that Takao had dodged and didn't have enough time to block the kick. He did however adjust himself so he would take less of a hit. The kick made contact and Axel staggered off slightly. Sticking his sword into the ground, he used it as a pivot point to turn around and jump back. "Ow..." He grumbled as he checked his side. "Nice kick..." Lifting his sword up and putting it back into position, he bent his knees and took more of a defensive stance. "Your turn then." Even though Takao had gotten a good hit on Axel, he didn't seem to show that he was angry or frustrated about it. It actually looked like he was having a fun time with this.

My turn? Takao thought to himself as the opportunity presented itself. A smile snuck its way onto his face and he nodded to acknowledge Axel. His hands were brought together to form hand seals, a rather short sequence that could probably be identified as a low level technique. Takao brought his hands to his mouth and breathed a flammable gas that wasn't quite visible to the naked eye. It covered the short distance from Takao to Axel and eventually would encase him in it, though there was no kind of damage to be had from breathing said gas.
Next, Takao began a new sequence of hand seals that were also short like the one before. In the same fluid motion of the hand seals, he jumped into the air in a flip as he released a small fireball from his lungs, hitting the top of the gas ball to set it aflame. Axel would be in the middle of the gas fireball as it erupted if he didn't move. Takao was out of range of the fire as he landed on the opposite side of where he believed Axel to be facing.

Axel saw that Takao made a few hand signs and was breathing out heavily. He tilted his head as Takao just seemed to stay there, breathing out. To him, it looked like he was just exhaling to prepare for some other attack. He then started to get an odd smell caught in his nose. It wasn't natural. Then it hit him. "GAS?!" As soon as he realized it, Takao had already begun a second set of hand signs and hopped into the air. Axel jumped straight back and kept going until the smell of gas became less dense. Doing so also brought him closer to a small stream. The fire had hit the gas ball and caused a large flame to consume the area. Axel had formed a small sphere of water in his hand after making a few quick hand signs. He then let loose the jutsu just as the fire reached him. A medium sized whirlpool hit the fire and caused quite a bit of mist to form. After the mist had cleared, Axel was standing with one hand still up. Takao's fire had seared a few edges of his shirt and hair. "Okay... now that... was close..." Axel huffed, but soon laughed right after

His intention wasn't to hit Axel with the fireball but to use it as a distraction, rather, which seemed to have worked to some extent. While Axel disposed of the fireball Takao had prepared himself to launch an attack from behind, and he did just that. He rushed Axel from behind and stopped just before he would have tackled him. Takao dropped down to his hands and lowered himself into a hand stand whilst also swinging his right leg up to catch Axel's arm. The force of the kick wasn't anything serious, much like his earlier kick, and was merely meant to throw Axel into the air or off his balance, depending on how he took the hit. Or he could dodge completely, who knows? It's never a bad idea to keep an open mind to the situation and what can happen. When it comes to combat, underestimating an opponent and then being caught off guard is what kills. The element of surprise is the greatest weapon a shinobi could possess, after all.

Axel might have been a bit dazed by the fire, but he still expected a follow up from Takao. He somewhat knew there would be some close range attack right after a jutsu like that. Takao was a Taijutsu user after all, and he would most likely want to get close. Axel glanced behind him and saw a figure coming right towards him. Unable to block with his sword, he put his free arm up and tried his best to block it. Once Takao's foot made contact, Axel could definitely feel it. He skid back slightly from a combination of how he was standing and where Takao had hit him. Once he was clear, he found an opening and went for it. He gripped his sword with his non-blocking hand and swung the blunt side directly at Takao's mid section. "Got you now!" He thought to himself as he swung his sword. The force behind the sword was probably enough to do a fair amount of damage, but not hard enough to break a bone. Judging on Takao's position, it was likely to hit, but one never knows what to expect in a fight.

Like any shinobi should be, Takao was fully prepared for his attack to be blocked, countered, or evaded. He was sure to put himself in a position that, although appeared to have an opening, was actually calculated and left room for blocking or evasion. However, simply calculating and planning to block or evade was much different than actually evading. Takao brought his leg down after kicking and seeing that Axel had done what he could to dodge the meat of the attack. In response, the sword was swing. It was difficult to predict the target location, due to being upside down, but he had a good general idea. Axel wasn't going for his legs, arms, neck, or head was what he could tell.
In response, Takao's right leg was lowered, or "raised" to be exact, to cover his midsection. His thigh and calf took the majority of the damage from the sword. Takao pushed himself off the ground and landed a couple meters away on his feet. "Nice block! I wasn't expecting you to catch on to that so soon."

"You're a Taijutsu user, Of course I saw it coming. The only way to punch or kick me is when you get close." Axel down looked at the edges of his now singed shirt and sighed. "I liked this shirt too... It was one of my favorites..." He looked back up and shook the thought of his shirt out of his mind. While cracking a few bones in his neck, he resumed a more offensive stance with his sword. "Alright... No more playing..." Axel turned his sword so the sharper side was now in front. He gave an odd grin and looked over at Takao. Without another word, he ran forward and pointed the sword directly at Takao. From Takao's perspective, it would have looked like Axel had the intention of stabbing him.

Takao kept on his guard, his eyes watching every movement Axel made that he could see. He noted the offensive stance and determined that Axel would be attempting another attack soon, so he prepared himself accordingly. Takao didn't know many swordsmen who could fight without the aid of their weapon, so disarming Axel seemed like the best idea at the time. The plan was a bit dangerous, especially since he was engaging an opponent with an advantage, but it was worth a shot.

Takao intentionally allowed for Axel to get closer to him without moving. When Axel was close enough to begin the stabbing lunge, he would hop backwards on his feet just far enough to evade where he anticipated the stab would end. Takao then brought his leg back and attempted to use his knee to knock Axel's hand that wielded the sword into the air, then kick the sword out of his grip. He would then step back to a safer distance away from Axel and prepared another set of hand seals. Takao did not mutter the name of the jutsu, and the seals didn't seem to do anything, but he had actually set up a Kawarimi just in case he needed it.

Axel quickly turned his blade and stuck it into the ground to stop himself as soon as he got within 10 feet of the Kawarimi. "A Kawarimi isn't going to help you." He stated out loud. Axel's eyes were a lot different then before. His right eye was changed to a neon pink, while the other was changed to a neon orange. Both eyes now had a slit for the pupil and looked like cat eyes. "I'm not rushing into that... Axel gripped his sword and rested it on his right shoulder. It looked as if he was waiting for Takao to do something else. Though if he did do anything, Axel would have tracked it with his eyes.

Takao's attention was immediately brought towards Axel's eyes. They had changed? He could determine that this was a doujutsu, that was fairly easy, but what did this particular doujutsu do he wondered? A Kawarimi isn't going to help you. he heard the other one say. It was surprising for his attempt at a sneak attack to have been seen through so easily, that much was for sure.

"Huh, a doujutsu? I never would have expected that, but I guess that's why they tell you to 'expect the unexpected', yeah?" he said with a chuckle, but he wasn't quite finished. "Unless those eyes of your's negate the effect of a Kawarimi though, I think I'm still in business." he finished with a crack of his knuckles. Takao could tell his replacement was still in tact, so the doujutsu was likely to do something else.
Regardless of the fact that he didn't know exactly what the eyes did, Takao charged again. Even with the element of surprise gone, he still had the advantage of being able to strike without worry of getting hit. Of course, he didn't want the Kawarimi to go to waste immediately, so he wouldn't do his best to get hit. His attack was nothing more than a simple straight punch, not enough power put in to it for complete devotion to the attack but still packing enough punch to do a bit of damage on the incredibly off-chance it did hit.

Axel stared at Takao as he rushed forward, tracking his movement with his eyes. As soon as Takao reached him, he side stepped the attack. Taking the blunt side of his sword, gave a good uppercut at the Kawarimi. He was still focusing on Takao's chakra and making sure he could block, dodge, or counter. His eyes would only help him for a short while before he would have to stop using them. They would eventually start to sting, but as of now, he was fine.

He wouldn't go down that easy. Takao prepared hand seals again and even though he knew his techniques were probably deciphered by now, it was still worth the shot. He wasn't about to let this Kawarimi go to waste. He exhaled another cloud of gas just before Axel's sword collided with him and activated the Kawarimi. Yowch. Takao might not have felt the full power of the sword hitting the bottom of his jaw, but he could easily imagine the pain. He disappeared in a cloud of puffy white smoke, and in his place was the log he had placed the Kawarimi on.

He acted quickly after his Kawarimi had been activated. Takao launched himself into the air and formed another sequence of hand seals in the air while he neared Axel. Another small fireball was built up and released from his lungs in mere seconds. The fire would ignite the gas upon contact, and Axel would be inside the burning gas ball if he didn't move. Even in the middle of battle, Takao hoped to keep the element of surprise on his side.

Axel saw the puff of smoke when he had hit the Kawarimi and could smell the gas once more, but that didn't stop him from tracking Takao. He saw Takao jump up to use that fire jutsu once more. Quickly retracting his sword from his previous attack, he put one hand up to his mouth and shot three bursts of water up. The first was aimed to extinguish the fireball, the second was aimed at any missed sources of heat that would light the gas, and the last was going to go directly for Takao. Once all three shots had been fired, he jumped back and changed his eyes back to normal. They were starting to bother him now that Takao was slightly farther. He grabbed his sword and looked up to see how his shots did. Though he was still standing on the edge of the gas ball.

Well that was a bit of a bummer. His fireball had been extinguished before it could even reach the gas, which quickly expanded and dissipated almost as fast as it was formed. Takao couldn't avoid the incoming shot of water as it shot towards him, despite his forward motion. It didn't really hurt, but the sudden burst of water was a bit... discomforting.
Takao landed with a thud on his feet a little ways away, noticeably panting. The exhaustion from lowering his chakra to it's current level coupled by the physical activity had taken it's toll on Takao's endurance. He lowered his hands to his knees and exhaled heavily, then looked up at Axel. "Phew..! It's not every day that I get to exert myself to this extent. I'm not sure how much longer I can go with my chakra though." he said.

Axel was breathing heavy as well. "I haven't had a good fight like this in a while... It's awesome...!" He stuck his sword into the ground and leaned on it to catch his breath. "Hey Takao...! Wanna call it a tie and get something to eat...? My treat...!" His voice was a bit shaky because of the fight. He looked up at Takao and grinned. It seemed like Axel had fun with this one on one fight. Especially since they were both different elements and it gave Axel a slight challenge. Axel grabbed his sword and put it into the holster on his back. His stomach growled quietly as he walked up to Takao. Holding his hand out, he expected a quick handshake and a response to his question.

Takao was soaking wet, a mixture of Axel's jutsu and his own sweat... He was also tired, panting, and severely weakened by his fatigue. Maybe that's why the simple mentioning of food made his stomach growl and his mouth water. Despite his rather obvious discomfort, which stemmed from his damp clothing, he was actually excited to get something to eat. It wasn't often he trained to this level of fatigue, and a meal was sounding awfully good at the moment.
"A tie sounds good to me, so does something to eat. We'll split the bill though." he said, one last heavy exhale following before his breathing finally returned to normal. Takao was never good at accepting gifts, even if it was something as simple as being treated to a meal.

"Alright then, we'll split the bill. I'm not one to argue, just offering is a good enough try." Axel gave Takao a wide smile and a single, quick, laugh. "I do have to admit... That was an awesome fight. I'd hate to go head to head with you for real, that's for sure." His stomach growled once more while he gave the complement, and as a result of the growl, he put his hand over it to silence it somewhat. Though the slight noise could still be heard.

Axel wasn't craving anything in particular, so he just decided to give Takao the option of where to go. "So... What are you up for? Ramen? Curry? Something else?" He wasn't really why he gave a couple suggestions, but it did make him feel a little more comfortable that he gave a slight input to the possible choices.
