I had barely gotten any sleep last night. I knew that today the teams would finally by assigned. I honestly could not wait. I hoped I would be on a team with other genjutsu users, or maybe on a team with a powerful medical ninja. I always had a high respect for medical-nin, though I never really wanted to be one. I had been waiting for this day ever since I graduated from the academy. I was standing outside the board where they posted the new roster, and every minute seemed like an hour. I looked around and saw a good number of my old classmates waiting and fidgeting alongside me, though some were still strolling in. Friends were talking amiably, telling each other who they hoped to be on a team with. Usually they would say that they wanted to be on a team with their friends, but sometimes I was able to hear someone confess their hopes to be on a team with their crush. I smiled to myself. I didn’t really know anyone else in my class who practiced genjutsu, so I didn’t really have anyone I was particularly hoping for on my team. As two special-jonin came out with stacks of paper in their hands, a hush fell over the group of young ninja. While they were still posting it to the board, people were already squirming and pushing each other to find out who they would share the next phase of their training with. When the special-jonin backed away almost tauntingly slowly, the crowd rushed towards the board. I quickly scanned the lists for my name. …Kaitu Burasu! That’s it! I looked at the team I was on.

Sensei: Master Owydelu
Genin:
Sarutobi Itazura
Shokubutsusou Tsuru
Burasu Kaitu

I had to do a double take. Yep, that was definitely MY master. Owydelu was one of the most powerful ninja that I had ever heard of. I felt extremely honored to be learning under him. I looked again at my teammates’ names. I didn’t recognize the name Shokubutsosou, but I doubted many people would be able to pronounce it without getting tounge-tied anyways. I did recognize Itazura however. Not only was his clan one of the most prestigious in Konoha, the guy was a genius. He wasn’t the most studious of ninja, but you could tell that he was a genius nonetheless. I thought it would be interesting to be on a team with him.

It was such a nice day today. It really would be a shame to waste it by going outside. I was lying in my bed when I decided that it was worth it to just go back to sleep.
Some time later I awoke to some people talking in the street below me. Their conversation, although it was simply about fruits, awoke me enough to prevent another nap. I got dressed and decided to go out for a stroll. I was right. The day was much too nice and peaceful to do anything but relax. I sighed. Still, I guess I have to go out to see the team postings today. I grabbed a quick breakfast, which was honestly more like a brunch, then ambled over to the posting board.
Just as I arrived, two ninja came by talking about how excited they were that they were put on the same team. I guess they had already posted the team listings. I looked over, and there was still certainly a crowd around the board. I went to the board and searched for my name. I found it and looked over the team I would be with while I was a genin.

Sensei: Master Owydelu
Genin:
Sarutobi Itazura
Shokubutsusou Tsuru
Burasu Kaitu

Hmm… Interesting, but kinda disappointing. I had no idea who Owydelu or Kaitu were. I knew who Tsuru was, but we weren’t particularly friendly. I knew almost all of the girls in my class, and she…wasn’t exactly my type. Still, a girl is a girl and a chance is a chance! I felt my nose start to bleed, and I tried to stop my train of thoughts. I thought I might introduce myself to her before we met as a team. As I was starting to leave to try and find directions to her house, I was stopped by a black-haired boy with piercing red eyes. He had a somewhat sullen expression on his face, and I tried to move past him. Geez, he doesn’t look like he’d be any fun.
As I was looking for away around him, he asked, “Itazura Sarutobi, right?” I stopped trying to avoid him, stepped back and smiled.
“Yep! I assume you must be Kaitu!”
He seemed a little taken aback by me guessing at who he was, but I seemed to have guessed correctly.
“Yeah… I just wanted to introduce myself. It seems like we’ll be working on a team together.”
This guy was WAY too formal. I decided some fun was in order.
“Hey!” I exclaimed, “I challenge you to a race! First one to reach the top of the first hokage’s head wins!”
Again, he seemed to be taken aback by this proposal. What is with this guy? I decided to charge on ahead.
“Ok, ready…go!"
I got a bit of a head start on him as he was still in a little bit of shock at my sudden challenge, but soon he started running after me. Maybe this kid wasn’t hopeless after all.

I stood still, not quite sure what had just happened. I went up to Itazura Sarutobi after recognizing him walking by, and he ended up challenging me to a race. I don’t know why I decided it was a good idea to accept, but before I knew it I was running after him. He was fast, I’d give him that.  I followed him onto the rooftops and towards the Hogake Mountain. He was a good ten meters ahead of me and I was not gaining any ground. I knew I wasn’t going to win this race, and as he looked behind him, he knew it too. The look on his face was almost…disappointment. My face flushed. I wasn’t going to let myself look this bad in front of a new comrade. I started running even faster, and I…seemed to be catching up. Now I was definitely getting closer and closer. I jumped onto the rooftop across from him and looked over. He had a smirk on his face. He still thought I was behind him. I decided to use this to my advantage. I continued with my sprinting pace, but I couldn’t keep it up for long. Still, I couldn’t lose to this guy! I don’t know when it happened, but at some point I had decided that. I couldn’t fail. He wouldn’t fail now. I felt a second wave of energy and adrenaline boiling up inside. Still, my legs felt like they were burning. I grit my teeth and pushed back the pain. I looked up. We were much closer than I thought.
We soon jumped from our roofs onto a stone path leading up to the top of the mountain. It was the last stretch of the race. I still couldn’t believe that I had accepted his stupid challenge. Despite my best efforts, we were neck and neck. At the last moment, a sudden burst of speed came from Itazura. He reached the top of the head first. He…had won. I fell down, panting. I had come so close. I looked up at the sky, then closed my eyes due to the sheer brightness of the day. When I opened them again, he hadn’t even broken a sweat. How was that possible? Was he…holding back?! I felt insulted. He didn’t view me as anywhere near his equal! I would show him! I regained my composure and slowly stood back up. I steadied my breath.
“Nice job, you are obviously much better at running than me,” I said with my head down.
I looked up and looked him straight in the eyes, “Let’s see how you do in battle. How about a spar?”
This wasn’t in my usual character, but I felt like I had to prove myself as worthy of the title of ninja. I had to beat him this time.

When we reached the top, I turned back to Burasu, who was bent over breathing hard with a little glistening of sweat on his brow. I was a little out of breath myself, but I was surprised to find this guy pushing himself so hard. “Nice job, you are obviously much better at running than me." He complemented me, even though he had lost. It felt all warm and fuzzy to have such a hardworking and honest shinobi on my hands. We had kept up neck and neck, though I had won with just a little burst of speed at the end. If this Burasu was giving it his all, then who was I to hold back? He looked up and I saw a fiery determination in those blood red irises. An odd color of eyes, I immediately knew there was something more to them.

A Doujutsu? If he did have an eye jutsu, that most likely meant he was a genjutsu user with some chakra sensory capabilities.  He looked me eye to eye, not willing to be let down from a little loss at a foot race. "Let’s see how you do in battle. How about a spar?”

I smiled back in return, not one bit surprised that he would challenge me to a battle. " Hey, you said it buddy." I put my fists together cracking my knuckles out of habit before starting a battle. "Well, Burasu, since you're so eager to have a face off with a member of the Sarutobi, I guess I'll just show you what all that will of fire junk is really about. You know you've really got me fired up!"   And yes that pun was totally intended, if  Burasu  could keep up with me that is. We were both starting out genin, so there's no saying that there an especial power difference between us. But I decided to take advantage of my clan's jutsu as soon as I could. I felt the aura of katon chakra cover my body. If Burasu did specialize in Genjutsu like I thought, as a Taijutsu specialist I knew I need to get in close to land the first strike.

So for exactly that reason I held out my hand inviting him to go the first offensive. "Come on, I'll let you make the first move."

"Well, Burasu, since you're so eager to have a face off with a member of the Sarutobi, I guess I'll just show you what all that will of fire junk is really about. You know you've really got me fired up!"
I sensed an aura emanating off of him, seeming to flicker around his body. He looked confident, and to looked like he had the right to be. For a genin to learn what appeared to be a body-augmenting jutsu was...impressive. I didn't kid myself, I couldn't beat him based on brute force. But then again, that was never my plan. I really only had one jutsu that could take him down, but I hadn't learned enough jutsu to supplement it well. Oh, well. I looked him in the eyes, waiting for him to charge.
"Come on, I'll let you make the first move."
Very well. I realized he was using his clan's secret technique from his earlier statement, so I decided to counter with mine.
I made the required handsigns, and created the standard ten Raitoboru. I didn't think I would need any more at this point in time.
I let them circle around me while I contemplated my next move. I took out a kunai and held it in a semi-defensive position, not sure if he really WAS going to make the first strike. After a tense few seconds of waiting, I charged at him, slicing at him with my kunai while still being ready to jump back into a defensive position. Before he got a chance to go on the offensive, I jumped back anyways. With the skills he just displayed, he was definitely proficient in taijutsu. This was going to be a tough battle.

I noticed something strange, my blade seemed to be unusually warm for the weather. I suspected that he was using katon chakra. I breathed an inner sigh of relief. At least it wasn't raiton. I was already having to squint a little because of the sunlight. His katon and my primary element, doton, were on opposite sides of the elemental spectrum. Neither one of us would have any particular advantage over the other, provided he didn't have another element that he used. No, I thought. To have trained one element by the time of academy graduation was impressive enough. I doubted he could have another. In my defensive stance, I readied my Raitoboru. If he tried to make a move, I would send one at him to knock him back. I just hoped it could hit.

When I ended my invitation, Burasu did some fancy hand signs and ten spheres of chakra formed, orbiting around him. They appeared as i f they were made out of some Raiton chakra? What some handy floating flashbangs? He just let them float around him while he took a defensive stance with a kunai, after a tense he suddenly charged at me.

"Hey, woah!" His blade came slicing, I didnt have a chance to dodge and the kunai scraped me on the arm, but I could tell that the katon chakra that surrounded my body left a little heat back on the blade. He jumped back with out letting me counterattack, he too noticing the kunai being a little hot from my fire. He then returned to a defensive stance, so what was his plan? A a series of offensives and then retreats? This battle would last all day if so, but I didn't have time for that. I still needed to pay a visit to that Tsuru girl after all.

"Alright, Burasu! Looks like you're raring to go! I am too, sort of... Eh whatever." I took a deep breath and felt the chakra build up in the back of my throat, I blew out the gas and that wonderful stinky smell of flammable gas spread out between us. "You'll have to excuse me for the smell, sometimes I just gotta let loose ya know?" I laughed at my own joke. It wasn't really that funny and I highly doubted Burasu would be entertained, but it was sort of clever I had to admit.

I flipped out two of my senbon, one in each hand, but only in one did I add a little chakra too. I threw them both just a few feet in front of me, not enough to ensight an attack for Burasu but still within the range of the gas. "So, you know that smell? I just surrounded us with a flammable gas and in one of those senbon I just planted, there's a little fiery surprise. If I choose to do so, I can cause a little flame and boom!" I snapped my fingers for effect. "We're both immediately caught in a giant fireball! The thing is... I don't burn that easily. You, on the other hand, probably aren't as resilient."

I put my hand to my chin in a mock detective's thinking position, thinking out loud my plans of how this battle could work out. "Of course you do have those fancy light balls surrounding you, if you wanted you could just send one flying at me while you get back enough away from the range of the gas. But if those light balls work like I think they do, it will probably explode and cause a spark... and boom once again there's a giant fireball. Then again it could just be some fancy light show and I end up being blinded, but that doesn't mean I still can't set one of those senbon on fire. I'm thinking that any way we go about this, the gas will be ignited and then there will be some giant flash of flames."

So that was my plan, Burasu was probably waiting for me to stop talking but I wasn't quite done yet. "But the thing I'm thinking is... That a giant flash of flames would not be so good for you at all. Why so? Yes there will be a lot of heat and a lot of fire and a lot of burns if you end up getting caught, but a common side effect of a flash fire is the flash part.  If the gas surrounding us gets ignited, there will be one giant flash of light. And.... I'm going to take a wild guess and say that would not be good for you at all because then you would be blinded worse than I could ever be from one of your floating flashbangs."

I motioned my fingers to my eyes pointing exactly what Burasu was doing with his own. "There's something up with those red irises of yours. I'm not quite sure what but I know that it's got to do something with light. Odd since what you have around you are floating flashbangs. I figured out it because you've been squinting since even the race started. Your eyes are especially sensitive. And on this bright and sunny day, I'm the one at the advantage. I'm also betting that against a Raiton jutsu, you're even more vulnerable to being blinded by whatever Raiton attack. Unless..." I waved my finger in the air pointing out a possible exception to Burasu's blinding weaknesses. "There's something more to the red eyes of yours."

I motioned back to the two senbon in the ground. "There's a reason I put two needles in the ground, but only put some Katon chakra into one. Unless you're a naturally strong sensor type, which I'm highly doubting, you can't tell which one is which. But if you did have some kind of Doujutsu, which I'm sure those fancy red eyes of your do, then you could easily tell which senbon had the chakra. How does that help you? Well... You could send over multiples of your floating flashbangs and distract me or even prevent me for a few times or even get me out of range in order to detonate said chakra filled senbon and you get close enough to get that senbon away from me or far away enough so said potential fire can't hurt you. But, if your flashbangs end up do causing sparks you end up igniting the cloud anyway and we're both blinded. But of course this is all in hypothesis if light does effect your eyes like I think  in which case you could close your eyes during the entire fireball and you're never blinded at all, you might get a few burns, but then I couldn't see and then be open to attack and all this talking was for nothing at all." I threw my hands up as if nothing I had said had even mattered at all. Of course everything I had said could potentially be nothing more than me blabbing my mouth for the hell of it, which was always a fun thing to do to get on anyone's nerves. I figured all of what I just said might have made Burasu uneasy if any of it happen to be true, or he could see me as being entirely eccentric and think I'm a little bit off as a ninja.

"Eh, so your move, Burasu." It was my turn to make a defensive stance. I hadn't even factored the possibility that he had a Suiton jutsu up his sleeve to cancel out any effects of my Katon aura or hell my own potential for a Raiton jutsu to blind him. But more talking would just take up more time, time that could be used to visit a girl, which of course was always my main goal.

I took a moment to look at my handiwork. He was caught off guard, so I had a chance to scratch his arm, but he allowed nothing more. He looked somewhat confused by my sudden retreat and, after a confusing half-statement, started collecting air in his lungs. I braced myself for a fuuton jutsu, but he just released his breath, and an absolutely terrible smell came from his open mouth. I really hope I wasn't paired with a shinobi whose signature move was bad breath.
"You'll have to excuse me for the smell, sometimes I just gotta let loose ya know?"
The nerve of this guy! If this wasn't part of some jutsu he was going to use, I had rather quit being a shinobi right then and there than be stuck on a team with him!
As I was thinking this and trying to subtly breath through my mouth, he took out two senbon and through them at the ground. He then explained his plan in full length to me. He wanted me to play his game. I could tell from his guesses at my appearance and jutsu that he had not heard of or met with a member of my clan before. That was perfectly fine with me, I knew that my clan wasn't the most prestigious one even in Konoha. He was somehow able to surmise that my raitoboru were balls of light however, and that I possessed a doujutsu that had a weakness to raiton jutsu. I had to admit, his guesses were surprisingly accurate for such specific assumptions. And I don't know why, but he seemed to want to lure my Burgan out. Still, he made one fatal flaw in his plan, besides assuming my raitoboru would cause sparks. He assumed I would play along. I made a hand sign and summoned three more raitoboru. I know I could have made due with the raitoboru I already had, but for the plan to work, It'd be easier to just summon three more. I was working on the assumption that he wouldn't ignite the fireball yet, and I hoped it would hold true. At least for a couple of seconds. I fired the new three at him, one at a time. The first would be used to blind him, while the second and third were sent to push him back. I wouldn't normally want to push him that far back, but he had revealed in his long exposition that his jutsu had a range.
After the first raitoboru exploded into a burst of light, I made the rest into two bracelets of five raitoboru each that I use when traveling underground, and dove beneath the surface. It was such an odd experience being underground, but I didn't waste any time. Down here I would be safe from the fireball above. I made my way over to his feet, and reached up. I knew I had beaten him now! I just hoped that the raitoboru would have surprised him enough to stop his body-covering jutsu. I seriously didn't want to get burned as I pulled him down into the rock.

At the end of my monologue, Burasu seemed as ticked as ever. Which was naturally what I expected and I was really hoped to get him all riled up. He made some hand sign and summoned a few more of those floating light balls to appear, which he also promptly decided to launch at me. Just as I thought the first exploded in my face, though it was just a pretty light show rather than a show of sparks and he successfully had overloaded my eyes with light, blinding me with his turn.  The first one did make my vision go defunct, forcing me to close my eyes. The second and third pushed me back with enough force to almost get me out of range of my chakra filled senbon.

Though blinded, I felt the ground shake underneath my feet, Eh? A Doton jutsu? So the kid had more than just Raiton up his sleeve, but that I figured was probably all he had. I felt his  hands reach and grab me by my legs, but I knew exactly how to counter.

“Hey I know my elements too!” I shouted and pointed my fingers to the ground in a gun shape, I concentrated Raiton chakra to my fingertips and shot those sparks at the ground as best I could as blind as I was. I knew that would do more than just shake off his Doton, but the sparks also set ablaze that gas cloud surrounding us. We were both encased by the giant flash of fire, and during so I managed I get away in the flames. I only could hope that the flash of light side effect really did effect whatever went on with Burasu’s red eyes or even that Raiton jutsu I just used.

I jumped back to where I had set the senbon in the ground, which if Burasu had actually used some chakra sensing doujutsu which I thought he had, he would’ve known that it was the one closer to me that one which I had filled with Katon chakra. Of course, it was probably common sense strategy that I would have the one closest to me with said chakra, but Burasu apparently didn’t figure that one out.  I was the one who did mention that my ignition technique had a range, he probably was just trying to get me away period.

Anyway, good thing I analyzed and memorized the battlefield just after my turn from earlier. I was just lucky enough to get right to the senbon and pull it out of the ground. I toyed with the needle in my hand and taunted the probably blinded Burasu. “Come on man, I worked so hard thinking up that plan for you. But you did take my advice on trying to get me out of range. Guess that counts for something, besides I guess I’m just one lucky guy.”  I tapped the needle to my chin, my eyes still closed. In one swift move I threw the needle back in Burasu's direction. I probably didn't hit the guy except maybe right at his foot if a blind guy's aim is any good at another possibly blind guy. "Well since I already set the gas on fire with my Raiton sparkler, that thing is useless. " I snapped my finger and set the senbon ablaze.  "I wonder how much heat you can take Burasu."  Even through all that, I still kept up my Sword of Will, it would take more than a simple flashbang or two to distract me. I tried to open my eyes, but my vision was still fuzzy and black around the edges from those several light ball explosions right in my face. Gee, thanks Burasu.

"And I still can't see too well, seems like we're both at a little sight disadvantage now aren't we? By the way, that's the only Raiton jutsu I know at the moment, so you don't have worry about me using any others!" My voice was joking, but I really hoped Burasu would pull through. This battle was getting fun. I really wanted him decide on using Doujutsu, at this point I was doubting he would take it out since he hadn't this whole time.  I still had few more moves up my sleeve, I could hardly guess what other surprises this guy had in store.

“Hey I know my elements too!”

That wasn't a good thing to hear when using a doton jutsu. He was either going to use a raiton technique or use a katon jutsu. I couldn't take either one, but before I had time to think, I was being forced out of the ground. This wasn't good at all. I tried to think quickly, and I managed to slam my hand on the ground as I went into the now-flame filled air. A wall made out of earth quickly rose in front of me, and I attached myself with chakra to the top. Once there, I surveyed the environment. In the confusion, my raitoboru dissipated. The very air itself was on fire.
I should not be so careless, I thought to myself. I placed too much faith in the idea that he couldn't get me out of the earth. I finally registered the pain in my body and realized the consequences of my being so nearsighted. I felt burns all over. They didn't seem to be that serious, but I was hurting badly. I couldn't let this go on for much longer. I would have to get him to waste chakra. I'd start by placing him in a genjutsu, so he would kai out while still maintaining his cloak, which I'm sure would be at least a decent drain on his chakra. It wouldn't exactly be easy on mine either, but I couldn't really do anything about it.

He jerked me out of my train of thought by throwing a senbon. For a second, I was worried he would hit me while I was surprised and unreactive, but it flew wildly below me. I was still sitting on the top of the wall I had created.

"And I still can't see too well, seems like we're both at a little sight disadvantage now aren't we? By the way, that's the only Raiton jutsu I know at the moment, so you don't have worry about me using any others!"

He seemed rather intuitive. Maybe he knew more of my clan than I originally thought. I wasn't able to see the raiton jutsu that he used properly, so I had no idea what the "one" was, but at least I knew that he didn't have a vareity of attacks with the element. However, he did seem to think I was blind at the moment.

Thinking a genin-level raiton justsu could blind someone? Geez, wasn't somebody a little too cocky, possibly for their own good.

Besides that, my first raitoboru seemed to have hit and was successful at blinding him. Good, I guess now was as good a time as any to activate my genjutsu. I focused my mind and attempted to disrupt his chakra flow, making him think that he was in a small classroom. He didn't seem like the type to be clausterphobic, but you never really know. I didn't like to exploit things like fear, so, experiencing an afterthought of guilt, I decided to speak to him to distract him from the sudden change in scenery.

"You're a smart kid, or at least you seem to be. That was a nice raiton jutsu you pulled earlier. A lot of genin don't even know remember that raiton beats doton straight out of the academy. I am genuinely impressed. And your katon is certainly nothing to be laughed at. I know you're a little disoriented right now, so I'll just tell you that you actually got me with that last attack. I was honestly hoping you wouldn't have any jutsu like what you just pulled. I guess I was unlucky to have a sparring partner with your abilities. However, I was really never one for fighting like this. How about we play a little game with genjutsu? It'll be fun, and you'll learn some more about your new teammate in the process. Or at least my abilities."

Without waiting for a response, I decided to continue.

"I'm actually training to specify in genjutsu, but the fruits of my labor may not exactly be showing yet. I don't have the chakra or experience yet to learn more complicated genjutsu, but I'm getting there. I've learned that genjutsu is a great way to protect, as well as a tool to destroy..."

I trailed off, thinking of how the most dispicable of genjutsu had gotten me to this very point. I angrily expelled the thought from my mind and continued the rather one-sided conversation.

"Anyways, enough of me rambling on, I'm interested to see your next move."

My eyes were finally readjusting back to a normal sight level, but when I opened them up I found myself in a... Classroom? Uh... Didn't think I could be that out of it...? It was smaller than average, but it the whole change of scenery wasn't quite right, or quite possible considering that only a moment ago I was pretty sure I was outside on top of the hokage mountain. Besides, Burasu seemed to have disappeared and  I was sure the kid wasn't the type to have some kind of high level teleportation jutsu and then transport/abandon me in a classroom probably meant for preschoolers. The only answer left was that it was some kind of genjutsu. So... I was right about him having a little to do with that, those red eyes did have something going to them. Granted I was pretty sure it wasn't a specialized Doujutsu working now either. Genjutsu was probably just one of his own specialties.  I was confirmed by the sound of Burasu's voice.

"You're a smart kid, or at least you seem to be. That was a nice raiton jutsu you pulled earlier. A lot of genindon't even know remember that raiton beats doton straight out of the academy. Or at least my abilities. I'm actually training to specify in genjutsu, but the fruits of my labor may not exactly be showing yet. I don't have the chakra or experience yet to learn more complicated genjutsu, but I'm getting there. I've learned that genjutsu is a great way to protect, as well as a tool to destroy..."

With the last part of his little monologue, I picked up something else about my new teammate that I hadn't had the time register yet. This kid had some kind of back story, after all one doesn't just casually seem to 'learn' how dangerous certain jutsus can be. Maybe as teammates we'd get to know each other a bit more.  I had to give it to him, he was a pretty skilled shinobi as well. But it was just that the certain type matchups happening currently just didn't work out in his favor.

"Anyways, enough of me rambling on, I'm interested to see your next move."

I smiled that stupid smirk of knowing/desperation, also realizing that this would probably be my last turn. At first I wouldn't have wanted to pull out all my cards, but I figured that since Burasu was going at his all I should've too. It was only fair. With this last set of moves I'd be practically out of chakra, even though I still had over half of mine left, if I was going to try and end this fight with a bang then I needed to do it now. Who knows, the guy might've even had one more trick up his sleeve and I might just end up loosing anyway, yet I still had quite the time playing around. My mind wandered to the possibilities of my new sensei and the other teammate we could share. It was such a warm and fuzzy feeling that it almost made me gag with optimism, but I still smiled away anyway.

"Ah well Burasu, you do realize that illusions tend to work better when you don't tell your victim that he's in one. Or when you make them less obvious to appearing obviously fake."  I motioned to the entire illusory classroom around me. Suggesting that he could of picked a better and/or scarier appearing place instead of an undersized classroom. I put my hands together in front of me in meditative like position. Using a burst of Kai, I disrupted my chakra flow to quickly dissipate his genjutsu. The imaginary classroom faded, though I spent almost half of my remaining chakra to get rid of said genjutsu and I had to stop my Sword of Will. No longer would my hits have a little extra burn. As I looked around, I saw Burasu hanging out on top of an Earthen wall. And by the looks of it, he probably would be grateful my punches wouldn't carry that extra burn because the poor guy seemed to have been slightly caught in the fireball from earlier and he had more than a few burns across his singed skin. I almost fell sorry for the guy, but unfortunately, Katon was my specialty, and  as a Sarutobi, I am required to live up to that damn destiny'd Will of Fire.

"And with that gone I'll now perform my grande finale!" I concentrated Katon chakra to my fists and not before long my hands were set ablaze with small flames. I felt tired, almost exhausted from this fight and from the amount of chakra I had been using up. "Just so you know getting rid of that genjutsu of yours really spent me... In fact, I'm almost out of fuel so... This'll be my final move." And depending on how it worked out, the final move of this battle.

I put my feet up on his earthen wall, taking one step at a time at first, to maintain my bearing with the Supernatural Walking, but then sped up a to a run to reach him fast.  Just a few steps more and I activated a Jutsu of my own specialization, Taijutsu. And this particular one upped my speed just a little more. My threw at least a dozen blazing fists onto my opponent, making contact as fast as I could. "Matchsticks Barrage Strike!"

I usually wasn't one to yell out my attacks, but it just felt right at the moment. Besides, combining my fire fists with my striking Taijutsu basically gave the same affect if I had kept my kekkai genkia activated and yelling out moves just makes anyone feel cool.

He responded to my musings with a smile, which I weirdly enough found humorous. He's having fun with this, I realized. He still can't take me seriously! I thought at least that a display of genjutsu would get him to respect me. I guess not.

"Ah well Burasu, you do realize that illusions tend to work better when you don't tell your victim that he's in one. Or when you make them less obvious to appearing obviously fake."

I wasn't trying to TRICK you, I was trying to get you to WASTE chakra!
This guy was getting me more annoyed and angry than I was comfortable getting. I calmed myself down a little. I shouldn't let this get under my nerves.
He will respect me. At least, I hope I deserve it. I don't know I've made stupid mistakes for the duration of this fight, and aside from my kekkei genkai, haven't shown much in the way of powerful jutsu. Maybe he's right to treat this as a joke.

I decided that I could not let that get to me. I would not lose to this guy, no matter how bad he burns. I could not lose to this guy. I had to finish this guy off quickly, but carefully. An odd combination, but I couldn't risk being burned again. I only had one jutsu left to use, but I always dreaded using it. It was a raiton technique I had developed that was not at all suited for the situation. Not only that, but I constantly risked the chance of blinding myself. I knew I was supposed to dull raiton techniques, but this one didn't exactly pack a punch already. Oh well, it's the only surprise I've got left up my sleeve.

"And with that gone I'll now perform my grande finale! Just so you know getting rid of that genjutsu of yours really spent me... In fact, I'm almost out of fuel so... This'll be my final move."

I was...actually kinda surprised. I honestly expected this spar to run a little longer. I still felt like I had a decent amount of chakra left in me, but I guess ending my genjutsu really took quite a bit out of him. Now all I would have to do would be tire him out a little more. I felt a surge of energy. I could totally do this! I thought to myself.

As I watched him, he set his fists on...fire!?! I guess he really wasn't easily burned. I'd never heard of the Sarutobi being resistant to fire, but maybe I hadn't heard that much about his clan. He ran up to the wall and started running up it. I stood up horizontally to face him and got a kunai out, prepared to block his attacks to the best of my abilities.

As he ran up the wall, he startled my a bit by yelling, (quite loudly) "Matchsticks Barrage Strike!"  I quickly regained my composure though, as he started attacking. I bloked his first punch with my arm, but his second punch came out of nowhere. It was getting harder and harder to block these, and I had given up on the prospect of dodging his fists as they flew towards me. How fast is this guy? If i don't do something, he's going to land a devastating blow that I won't be able to recover from. I noticed a pattern in his fist movement and took steps to block it, but he immediately changed it up. I was getting beaten up really badly. I needed to reorganize. Before I knew it he had landed a punch squarely in the middle of my chest and I went over the wall, landing not so gracefully on the other side.

I had landed weirdly and looked down. Yeah, I think my ankle's twisted. I was in no condition to continue fighting. That last move of his really had ended the battle. I was about to flop down in defeat when I remembered. I can't lose. I wouldn't allow myself. I stood up, shifting all my weight on the side of my uninjured ankle, trying to push through the pain of the sprained one, and stared up. I wasn't going to lose. I tried to form a handsign, but my hands were too badly burned to form them quickly, thanks to blocking fists that were literally covered with fire. I couldn't do anything, but I still had chakra. He...he had won. I decided to have a little fun with it now, mainly to cheer up myself.

I walked, well more like limped, around to the side he was standing, and activated another genjutsu. This one would place him in a dark room initially, but soon lights would turn on, accompanied by the words "Congratulations! You defeated me!" on a banner. Of course, there would have to be confetti. It would just be mean to not include confetti. I made it dissipate after that so he didn't faint from over-exertion. I couldn't believe he had done it. It was certainly going to be interesting, to say the least, to work in a team with him, but I need someone to test me. This apparent poison might become an antidote. This burning fire might become a guiding light. This...nah, now I was just being soft after I lost. I chuckled as I walked away to the hospital, leaving him to celebrate his victory.

Burasu seemed surprised that I yelled my attack, but tried to regain his stance with a kunai in hand. The first fist he did end up blocking, but as I cotniued he couldn't keep up. I landed more than few to burn him in a few places, and ended up landing a punch on his chest. He flew off the wall in a less than graceful manner and landed -ouch- on the ground at an awkward angle

His ankle was twisted and his skin covered with burns. I was surprised to see the determination he still had to get back up again. He eventually did, but he seemed to accept the fact over who was the winner of this battle. I was glad, I left my shoulders relax and headed back down to the ground. I was breathing hard and felt like falling to the in a less that graceful manner on the ground too.

I just caught the limping Burasu out of the corner of my eye, before I knew he was catching me in another genjutsu. Ah, Damn... There was no way I would be getting out of this time. I suddenly realized why Burasu had activated that genjutsu from earlier, he had wanted me to dissipate it to get rid of my chakra and now he would catch me in another illusion without me being able to break out again .

I sighed, just accepting the fact as it was, also slightly disappointed at the other fact that I probably lost. But hey, I guess it was my fault for getting too cocky with that last move with so little chakra left. And Burasu probably still had over has his power left.

The area around me darkened, like I was in some big black room. Well maybe he took my advice on making scarier illusions. I had to give a sarcastic smirk at the thought.

Suddenly the room appeared brighter, I tensed for whatever he had in store, but it turns out it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. Lights flashed on and I saw the words "Congratulations! You defeated me!" on a big bright banner, complete with confetti and streamers in the air.

I was so stunned I laughed out loud, my sides hurting with each breath. The illusion faded on Burasu's command and I only caught sight of his raven black hair as he limped away, probably to a hospital. At this point I was crying for nearly no reason, but after all that I was glad to have such a good sport as my new partner.

"Hospital yeah... Sounds like a good idea." I was so exhausted, there was no way I was trudging down the mountain with hardly any power. "But.. I'm just gonna go take a nap instead. A... Really long nap." I fell to the ground and closed my eyes, still with an undeniable smile on my face.
