Brief:

Ryota was disgruntled to say the least. As the sky cried and cried in what surely had to be sympathy to his cause, this Genin as fresh and green as the grass growing between a babe's toes grumbled, striding through the streets laden with dull light piercing the grey blank of this monotonous night. A ghost among the streets of Kirigakure, leaving nary a footstep or sound behind and he was given such a meagre list of missions?! At least it was an opportunity to hone his perception plus a chance to don the coat and mask of his father.

Leaning about the shaped corner of a street stand exhuding a cacophony of scents into the land the Genjutsu user's eyes probed yet another alleyway. As shadows lapsed against dustbins and dumpsters the spyglass of the moon peeked through raindrops to gentle pools fit for mice upon the uneven ground, their peers sitting upon trash bags heaped high.
"Gonna buy somethin', kid?" Came the gruff appraisal of the pot-bellied, apron wrapped and ladel wielding 'chef'. Eyeing the man from his crooked posture, Ryota cocked an eyebrow and little else, a moment of tension falling between them as rain pattered soundlessly against pearl and lacquer of demon's imitation garnering the teen's jaw. Opening mouth behind glistening fangs, no sooner did inhalation induce evidence and sound to flow to and from his body did trashcan clatter to the ground, a gang of three cats shrieking and hissing as they skittered down the alleyway with the boy's proverbial tongue. Eyes darting to the feline escapees, the clatter and glisten of brass bells about their necks betrayed their ownerships.

Snapping into a run after a moment of registry, jostling the food cart and earning a smattering of curses Ryota fled after the creatures bounding down labyrinthian corridoors, bounding over the plastic hill with patter of rain and the obscured light their only onlookers a soundless chase began. Of his two targets, one black, one and tawny brown all clad in red collars featuring aforementioned bells.

As luck would provide, the alleyways finally ended off with a wooden fence, a single piece of board missing in the centre.
"Oh no you don't!" Yelled a rapidly tiring teen loosing a shuriken to loosen the aged and rotted board, flipping the wood to knock the attempted escapees back, pale fingers grasping their cold, waterlogged fur firmly, breath catching harshly in his chest. Elsewhere, the froth-mouthed old lady was whittering for her cats held by this illusionist, soon to be reunited. Dreaming it had finished he relaxed. A pain fiercely lodged itself into his arm, the fang of that infernal black cat having clamped down and pierced skin. Departing from his shriek and flail of hand, the cat presented a cursory hiss before dashing into the night.

Redoubling his grip about the other wriggling creature, the second feline disappeared around the corner, leaving the heaving teenager angered. How dare he!?! Fuelled with fire in his belly bounded around the corner, becoming sharply awar of quite where the creature was headed. SKittering back the way he came, a thought crossed his addled mind. Was the street cook really using rats in his broth? Disgusting.

Heading off the creature being fed from the man's grease laden ladel, it was an easy capture. Grasping the scruff of the cats neck, the ninja snatched the ladel from the man, spoon feeding the foul mixture to the cat. Another snarl departed the large 'creature' approximating itself as a human, Ryota deftly ducked, springing into an escape.

Wishing his trouble to be at an end, the Genin departed to turn in his first mission, thankfully less soaked through than these cats tucked 'neath his arms.
