The serene forest was picture perfect that night, the silver slivers of moonlight casting an unearthly glow on the land below. It was almost eerily silent, even the nocturnal beings making as little disturbance as possible, as though cooperating with its peaceful surroundings. A beautiful night for a stroll or something of the like, with little clouds to obstruct the light of the moon, and temperature too ideal to find fault with.

But a slow, midnight stroll was not scheduled for the fourteen year old kunoichi, Mikage. Instead, she was sprinting at full speed, alternating between leaping between the low branches of century old trees to creating light footsteps against the earthy ground, barefoot like always. For a moment, at first glance, she would take on the appearance of some wild child, yet her delicately woven white dress would contradict that assumption, silky ends billowing in the air as she moved. The whole blur of movement was snow white in colour, silvery white hair cascading down to meet the beginnings of the white dress, to the point where it was difficult to see where one ended and the other began. Strands of hair danced across the girl's face, likely obstructing her field of vision, yet she moved precisely, never missing a step. And with each step that she took, bells could be heard, a soft ringing melody, crystal clear sounds of a relatively high pitch. Upon closer inspection, the source of the sound could be identified as a silver bell anklet, attached to the girl's left ankle.

Haa … Haa …

Her breaths were beginning to grow heavy, but not simply from fatigue. Soft giggles escaped from her lips, even as she ran at a pace that could only be explained by one situation - something or someone was after her. In this case, it was multiple someones, a small group of men sent to restrain, capture, and return the silver-haired child to the place marked by life and death. A place she once called home, but now a place where all she could see is the constant replay of her sister's death.

Granted, she brought this situation onto herself. And it wasn't the first time. The childish whims of the fourteen year old often brought her back to the old home to taunt at her mother, making an appearance only to disappear again. A game of sorts - one that she rather enjoyed. This was now the disappearing part, in which she either outran her pursuers and vanish from sight, or deal with the pursuers to remove their ability to … well, pursue her. Given that it was a lovely night for a quick workout, she had disappeared on the former option, at least, until she got bored. But boredom had yet to strike, the adrenaline rush that resulted from the thrill of a chase keeping her bright and awake, even as the rest of the world slept peacefully around her. Still running, she let out an exhilarated laugh, a light sound that echoed through the quiet night.

Rippa was in the dense forest once more. His Ideal training grounds. After all a monster did not mingle well with those that feared it. The blood that he used like water did not appear as normal to them. To them it was horrific and to practice it was equivalent to committing a crime to them. "How could such a being have a soul?" they wondered. Whispers just loud enough for him to hear. And yet all he ever tried to give them in return was his hand out stretched to help. But man had demanded even gods kneel before their judgement from the beginning. Sometimes he just wanted to break and laugh in their face. Even as he fell to the floor some nights and could hardly take it anymore. Buried under the weight of their fears he would always rise again. He was willing to fight instead of beg for his life. He was not running from them but instead he was preparing for them to try and break him down. He was finished with being judged. About the eyes that watched him as if trying to figure out how to kill him. He tried to be some one else but nothing changed. The blood ripper of Konoha was who he really was. And he would protect them. But people would learn to fear him. When they came to try and bury him he would show them the error of their ways. His blue eyes were cold as he wandered deeper into the forest. His usually calm and kind self torn with the anger of the judging eyes. Even those he healed were afraid of him just for his power.

He had made a habit of walking through the forest in the depths of the dark nights. It was like the forest hid his rise to power. But he resisted the urge to lash out. By coming out there he resisted the urge to give them a reason to fear him. This night in particular he had escaped to the forest again. His black jeans and black cotton tank top blended in well enough. His combat boots were anything but silent as he walked along the forest floor. His silver necklace with angel wings on it caught what little light there was and reflected it. But his knee length red leather coat stood out against the dark background. His head band stitched into the right shoulder. And a scroll tucked into the left waist level inner pocket. His hands were halfway covered in fingerless leather gloves. And his shoulder length white hair swayed in the slight breeze.

Still though. He was not oblivious to the world. A chime of a bell brought his attention upward before the girl even sailed overhead. But his blue eyes watched her, A white and silver being sailing through the dark forest and by the looks of it, she was enjoying herself. Shock held him for a moment as the almost shining being fluttered overhead. Like a ghost she flew by. Her bells ringing as she went. A moment passed as he considered maybe she was the spirit of the forest before suddenly he noticed more darker shapes approaching his position. He quietly slide behind a tree and pressed his back to it and waited. He could hear the heavy foot steps as desperate men seemed to chase after the girl clad all in white. Silence was not their concern so much as crashing after her. He waited for them to pass before he launched himself up into the tree's. Keeping to the thicker and more bare branches to make as little noise as possible as he kept his eyes on one of the men. Curious now to see why they were chasing her.

Cat and mouse. Predator and prey.

That sort of thing always thrilled her, explaining her constant return to Hi no Kuni just to dance in and out of the reach of her mother. As much as the shock of her sister's death had shocked the young kunoichi into the state that she was in - that childlike demeanour that was so startlingly different than how she had been prior to the incident - the hatred she felt for her mother, the blame that she placed on the current clan head, was indelible. Nothing would change that. But Mikage knew the current extent of her power, and with that measly amount of power, a full on confrontation with her mother would be futile. Playing these little games, however, provided her with both amusement and a tiny amount of satisfaction, knowing that she was frustrating her mother to no end each time she danced out of reach. Her every movement felt lighter, the sounds of the bell clearer, stronger. This was likely due to the brief amount of time she had spent in Kaze no Kuni, with the sand weighing down on her with every step. Everything felt better being back in her home land, but it was both a place of comfort, and pain.

Slowing down as she reached a clearing, the number of trees decreasing drastically, she would eventually come to a stop, ensuring that her final position would be on the ground, in the middle of the clearing. It was a nice little place, just enough space for a person to train in, likely a makeshift training ground. Thankfully, it was unoccupied for the moment, though it didn't come as much of a surprise, given the current time of day. A breath was taken in. And then out. Smile still resting peacefully on her face, she closed her eyes, focusing on the sounds around her. Although her kekkei genkai came to her as naturally as breathing, it still took work to distinguish between the solid trees and the movement of her pursuers, requiring careful attention to separate the different responses she was getting.

One.

Two. Three.

… Four?

Eh? How interesting. It seemed as though their numbers had increased. She could have sworn that as the chase progressed, only three men had continued to pursue her. She had left the Kotone Clan grounds with five or more men after her, but a couple had turned back in favour of returning to their posts. When had an additional person joined the chase? Not that it particularly mattered, if they were her mother's people, they wouldn't be too difficult to handle. As much as the current clan head liked to act as though they were of a prestigious clan, they didn't have the power nor the wealth to actually back it up. And these were usually hired men - thugs, even - not those of their own clan. In other words … easy to deal with, with skill levels equal to that of really buff genin, or perhaps a chuunin or two. But first, to throw them off. The first of the group to emerge from the trees would be less than 10 meters away from her, his eyes startled to see that he would no longer have to give chase, as his target was simply standing there, grinning eerily. Mikage would give a little wave, raising her hand in the shape of a gun and 'firing', giving a little "bang!" as sound effect. Of course, no bullet actually left the makeshift gun, but the swirl of chakra that had built up in her arm did, travelling the form of invisible sounds waves aimed right at the man. The misstep that would follow came as no surprise. He would feel a sudden wave of nausea, the world spinning around him as his body's equilibrium was set off, forcing his foot to miss the next branch and send him down towards the earth, landing heavily on the ground.

Sounds of alarm could be heard from those behind him, and Mikage cocked her head to one side, wondering what they would do next. They seemed to have slowed down, trying to figure out what happened to their companion, as well as likely trying to quickly figure out a plan in confronting the fourteen year old child that awaited them.

Rippa had followed from behind for a bit and just observed quietly. It was rather confusing that so man grown men would be chasing one little girl and be getting no where with it. Really he was more confused what was going on there then anything. Why was a girl dressed all in white as pale as the moonlight even out here to begin with? Was she just out for a stroll and these were her guards trying to keep up? That was entirely too possible. He had grown up in a richer community so spoiled children often made life hard on their guards. But that was only one theory. He also fantasized about her being the spirit of the forest and these were hunters after a legendary capture. Or exorcists maybe. He smiled and decided to simply keep up for the time being and watch and wait. After all what was the harm in just being an observant partner to what ever this was? If it was friendly he could simply apologize and if not well then the observation could certainly help him to pick sides. Should the occasion arise for him to fight or flight some observation could certainly help that rapid decision.

Still ahead he could see a clearing approaching and the girl was the first to reach it. He watched as she stopped and turned there and smiled. The man in the lead charging after her. She lifted her hand and pointed like a jutsu or a child pretending to have a gun. He saw her lips move but was too far away to hear anything. But the man in front seemed to take a nosedive into the forest below. He winced as the man hit the floor and stopped on the branch he was on. Likely the man was not getting up after hitting the ground face first like that. Still the other two paused as well. Turning to each other to discuss strategy he supposed. After all a full third of their manpower had just gotten wiped. Still he wasn't fast enough to hide his red coat and white hair out in the open like that. One of them in alarm didn't hesitate to react. It was only because Rippa saw the hand seal that he launched himself off the branch in time. The streak of lightning tearing right through the thick branch he was on.

"Hey now! No need to try to fry me for no reason!" He called out in alarm as he raced along the edge of the clearing. The one with the lightning jutsu was pursuing him while the remaining one was apparently intent on keeping an eye on the girl in white. Who ever these guys were they were certainly a hostile bunch. All he had done was observe them and now one was chasing him in a circle through the treeline around the clearing trying to get a clear shot to fry him for reasons unknown. Either he should disable the individual and leave or stay for answers. He was more prone to answers.

Mikage

Mikage

It seemed as though something out of the ordinary had happened. In the many times that Mikage had provoked a chase, never once had they been interrupted. In addition to the fact that they almost always took place in the middle of the night, it appeared as though the village either turned a blind eye towards it, or were entirely unaware of what was going on. It wasn't surprising, no one really took notice of their clan's affairs - they weren't as well known as clans like the Hyuga. And to top it all, the Kotone clan wasn't directly affiliated with any one village, all members of the clan - to those from a village - were considered wandering ninjas, shinobi with no particular alliance. They might as well be thankful that they haven't been chased off the Land of Fire, where the past generations of their clan leaders have resided in. But those were thoughts for another day.

Mikage remained alert as she narrowed her eyes, realizing that the third and fourth individuals were in motion once more … but moving in a pattern that seemed rather curious. Instead of simply relocating themselves to surround her, or attack her directly, it seemed as though one was following the other, with a fried tree branch falling to the ground as they started moving. Did an argument occur between her pursuers? But no - these were simply hired dogs. Trained soldiers that obeyed those who paid them in full. There was no reason she could think of that would result in a conflict between said soldiers, to the point where it would draw attention away from trying to capture her. What exactly was happening? Her question would soon be answered as they entered her field of vision, zipping past in the trees that formed the borders of the clearing. Just in a glance, she was able to get a gist of the situation. It appeared as though the extra person she had sensed just a moment ago wasn't actually part of the pursuing team. His attire was different, actually had color, and it looked as though her pursuers weren't happy with the involvement of an outsider.

"Ruuun, mister, don't let him catch you ~" She called out cheerfully, waving to the man as he passed. Maybe if the chase went on for a while, she would join in the fun, but for now, she had one other person to take care of. The final pursuer, thinking he could take advantage of the fact that she was momentarily distracted, had begun moving again, leaping off the same tree that his colleague that fallen out of. How irresponsible of her mother to not even brief these people on their clan ability. Although her visual awareness was still focused on the chase, it didn't stop her from picking up the movement of the man, from the moment he had dipped slightly to prepare the jump from one tree to another, each step getting closer towards her. But still, she waited, seemingly entirely focused on what was happening between the two individuals, even going as far as to turn away so that her back was facing the advancing attacker. Ready, and … She would spin on her heel as the man landed right by her, fist moving in an upward, diagonal motion to meet with the man's jaw, a soft giggle escaping her as she made contact. Normally, with the height difference between the two, she wouldn't have managed to reach his jaw, but it just so happened that he was still in a semi-crouch, knees bent to catch himself as he abandoned the tree line to meet her on the ground. The punch itself wasn't strong enough to break bone, but would definitely leave a long-lasting bruise as the man staggered back, clearly sent out of focus as a result of the sudden attack.

As soon as the attack landed, Mikage would slip into a wide stance, with one foot in front of the other, both slightly raised with the weight on her toes - the back more so than the front. Contrary to what most people thought with smaller-sized opponents, Mikage wasn't one to rely on constant movement. Although she had enjoyed the chase she had led everyone on, she was aware that her stamina was limited, and running around while trying to land hits would further decrease the amount of energy she had. With the same smile on her face, she watched as the man regained himself enough to begin weaving a series of hand signs, clearly intent on using some technique to restrain her. A stupid mistake, given how close he was to her, and that she specialized in close combat. The soft ringing of her bells would only slightly alert the man as her back foot move forward, front foot twisting to one side to lead her entire body sideways, hitting the man square in the stomach with the flat of her foot and forcing him to stumble back two meters, winded. Satisfied with her progress, she would take the time to seek out the two men, curious to see what had occurred during this time.

For the moment it appeared that the one after him was just a simple hired hand. Sure he could use lightning jutsu but the man seemed to lack the ability to hit a moving target. That and he was very flashy with his moves. Every time he was about to fire off another of the lightning bolts his hand would get all sparky and he would point it for a full second before firing. With the fast paced chase through the tree's around the clearing it was rather easy to put a branch or a tree between him and his would be deep fry cook. Still the man let brilliant flash of light after brilliant flash of light go and seemed to struggle to keep up while all Rippa did was maintain his breathing and keep an eye out for when to put something between them. Still the more tired the man go the more he seemed to be picking his shots,

Still as they flew past the area with the little girl she waved and called out not to let the man catch him. He found that awfully cheerful as he ducked yet another bolt of lightning. Was the girl just toying with these tools? Well he could see that wouldn't be hard to pull off. Considering how he had watched her take down the first one and this one was just blasting away energy. He gave the guy points for effort but that hardly made up for the wasted energy. He could hear it in his labored breathing and see it in his sweat stained face. It was just about time. Rippa steadily was now slowing down the pace of the chase as the man after him got exhausted just enough so it looked like he was still keeping up. After all that might encourage him not to give up. Though he noticed the mans attention was now torn.

Below in the clearing the girl looked oblivious to the last one sneaking up on her. He could tell that wouldn't end well by the way the man after him was smirking and directing more and more of his attention away from Rippa as the man got closer. Either way if that sneaky tactic was going to work Rippa should work fast. He much preferred talking to the cheerful girl then these louts at this point. So he formed the tiger hand seal and quietly spat out six red balls which hovered in front of him. Before he just stopped. He noted the mans attention was torn from him by a face filled with surprise as his attention was full on the girl no beating on the man after her. He figured he could of just sat this one out entirely after all. Oh well. Might as well use all six. So he waited until the man was paralleled to him and the clearing. Having completely lost track of where Rippa was before calling out even as he fired all six blood bullets.

"Poor form losing track of your target old boy. Best of luck to you in the future!"

By the time he was saying best of luck to you in the future the blood bullets had already hit and he was calling out to the man as he flew back. One to each thigh and one to each fore arm. One to the chest and one right between the eyes. Perfect. The man flew back as if hit by a flying fridge and slammed into the ground in the clearing before bouncing several times and just sliding to a stop. Clearly done for the day. Still he dropped out of the tree line an approached her with his hands in his pockets and yawning. But staying a good ten meters away from her as he observed her.

"You done playing with him then? The poor man needs a break I think."

Initially, it didn't seem as though much change had occurred between the other pursuer and that stranger. Mikage would've liked to continue observing, but her own target was struggling back on his feet, once again starting the beginnings of a jutsu. As much as she was curious to see what this man had to offer, she just couldn't pass up the chance to interrupt.

Two more hits from her the man took. Each patiently executed, waiting for the man to get up before smacking him into the ground again. It was unlady-like to simply pound on the man while he was on the floor - much too similar to the actions of a savage or something of the like. Not that Mikage herself worried about being lady-like and proper. She didn't even particularly care about playing nice in a fight. There had been a distinct lack of proper education on the etiquettes of human nature in her childhood - what had existed before the incident were mainly directed at her sister, with Mikage merely a shadow trailing along. It was just less effort and more time to revel in the man's frustration, with her as his target within reach yet unattainable, forcing him to acquaint his face to the ground multiple times. She had no intentions to kill him - none of her blows had enough concussive force behind it to severely incapacitate the man before her. They still needed to be alive to return to her mother, to pass on the message that they had failed to capture her once again. There be no need for words - their appearance alone would be enough to understand the results.

Oops. It looked as though any amount of consciousness the man had before the last punch had slipped away, leaving a crumpled heap on the ground, unmoving. She wasn't entirely certain whether he would wake up but ... hey, two out of three returning would likely send the same message. Speaking of the third one ... her attention moved away from the man in front of her, seeking the other two that - last she had seen - had been on a merry chase through the trees. But she didn't even have to look for long, sensory waves picking up on something hurtling towards the clearing, a dead weight most likely. Pale lilac eyes would rest on the body, brows dipped ever so slightly in confusion as she tried to make sense of what had happened. There were a handful of what appeared to be puncture holes on the man's body, the most noticeable one on his head, blood dripping down the sides of his face to the earth on which he laid. It was strange, that there was so much external blood on his person. Perhaps it was a jutsu of some kind?

"Hey, you, are you one of those people that use blood to fight?" Never one to leave her curiosity alone for long if there was nothing else to appease her, she would ask the question directly upon sensing the stranger's descent onto the grounds where she stood. It was only after the words left her mouth that she would turn to face him. She had heard and processed his words, yet didn't feel the need to respond, a bad habit that often made her appear rude. She had a tendency to ignore or fail to respond to words and actions that she found little interest in, particularly in cases where she had something more pressing to say - or ask, in this case. "Who are you? Did you join in to have some fun too?" Noticing the distance between them, she would give him a little smile, moving to close the gap with little skips. If her movement went uninterrupted, she would stop about two meters in front of him, head tilted slightly to one side as though waiting to see what he would do.

Rippa sighed as she completely ignored his comment and the man she was laying into crumpled. Likely she was a taijutsu expert. And he was not eager to show his weakness to taijutsu. Oh man the humiliation of getting beaten up by a little girl would be horrendous. His blue eyed gaze flicked to the men around them and he scoffed a little amused. He didn't want to be compared to those chumps. Still he couldn't check their pulses just yet. She was still an unknown factor in all of what was happening. He would have to deal with them momentarily. But before he assisted anyone directly he wanted to know what was going on. Or at least what could be freely told. Still when he was about to open his mouth and start asking questions she spoke up.

She mentioned his affinity to blood and he raised a white eye brow. Surprise flashing through his eyes. She hadn't even really looked about that much but she was observant enough to detect his style of attack? Well that was certainly perceptive of her. Still she wasn't done asking questions. But the way she worded it concerned him. The initial question was sensible enough as was the question after it. But the idea that he had partook in combat just for the fun of it hinted at a possible psychological issue. He was more in tuned to the actual physical ailments over the psychological ones. But what he did know is caution is advised when dealing with possible hostile mental issues. And the question certainly implied it could turn against him quickly.

Still she was suddenly skipping over the distance. He felt himself wanting to retreat. Keep the distance between him and a taijutsu specialist. But he had also taken note of her affinity to a strange jutsu. So really he wouldn't be all that much safer if he was retreating. They say dogs chase you because you run. So he stood his ground. He would try and diffuse the situation if he could. After all her being only two meters away....that was maybe three strides before striking distance or one pounce. If she decided to act he might pay the consequences. So he spoke cheerfully instead.

"Why yes. I do use blood. As for who I am I am simply a doctor wandering about and as for joining. I was observing out of curiosity. They attacked me so I defended myself. Now you little Miss have asked me three questions so it's only fair if you answer three of mine. Who are you? Why are they chasing you and what was that jutsu you used on the first one?"

He remembered how she had used the word fun so he figured he could make this into a game. Question for a question. Hopefully she would play along and he could become informed of the situation. That was the best case scenario. Worst case scenario she wanted to play king of the hill and he was not at a very advantageous position to fight a taijutsu user. His fingers in his pockets formed hand seals just in case. Preparing to put a wall jutsu between them at the first tine of hostility.

Aw. This was no fun. It appeared although the man had decided to stand his ground, as opposed to moving away to prevent the gap between them from closing. Had he decided to run, she would most certainly have given chase - after all, her curiosity had not been sated. Mikage made no move to remove the remaining two meter gap, and instead waited quite patiently for him to fully answer each of her questions, genuinely curious. But she would be disappointed. None of the answers provided were interesting enough, either too bland, too vague, or a mix of both. Dissatisfaction showed plainly on her face as she wrinkled her nose, and she pondered at his words. Three questions asked, three questions in return. An interesting proposal - one that, with her childlike disposition, wasn't easy to pass up. Games to her were always fun. Of course, the more dangerous the game, the more thrill packed into it, the more she wanted to take it on. This particular 'game' wasn't all too interesting, but it was a game nonetheless.

The tone he took on seemed quite friendly, not at all like how most people would respond to a giggling fourteen year old who had just gotten the best of two fully grown men. But it was this good natured atmosphere that kept her mood up, in which she finally decided that she would partake in this little game of question and answer as well. Mikage was never opposed to personal questions ... that is, as long as they didn't go deeper than basic information relating to her name, clan, age, etc. Anything more, anything about her sister, her past, and the chances of the young kunoichi being set off in an unconsolable rage would rise to the point where things would undoubtedly turn violent. She would give the other man - still unnamed, she noted - another little smile, realizing that she would play on the same level as him to get her share of fun out of it.

"Mikage! Mikage and -- ah." She cut herself off before her sister's name was revealed, suddenly realizing that she didn't have her stuffed rabbit with her. A problem indeed, seeing as she often used the plushie toy to personify her sister. But somehow, miraculously, she covered it up, continuing with the rest of the questions. The rabbit most likely had been left behind during the chase, and although to Mikage, her sister was always with her, it made things difficult when trying to explain her sister's presence to others. No matter. For now, her sister would stay out of this. Should the other man decide to pursue the cut off sentence, however, she would be forced to 'reveal' her sister's identity, which would then result in a complicated mess of questions. The last time someone had outright called her crazy for saying that her dead sister was with her, they had somehow ended up in the general hospital, incoherently babbling about a white rabbit. "Um ... Mikage thinks they were chasing her because they needed the exercise!" A vague answer in exchange for the vague answers he had given. ... Not that this answer was appropriate enough to even be considered vague. Off-topic, more like.

There was a moment's pause as she tried to remember his last question. Something about a jutsu ... Ah, he must've seen what she had done to the first man. A soft giggle would escape her, happy for the attention that she was receiving. Someone had actually taken the time to notice something she had done. "That? Mikage just shot at him! Like this!" Clasping her hands together, she would form the gun shape again, raising it to eye-level and pointing it at Rippā. While she had no intentions of actually using the technique again, she was curious to see how he would react. Unless he had some sort of sensory technique to see that she wasn't actually channelling any chakra for the technique, it would appear as though she really did intend to give him a first-hand demonstration. Based on the small amount of movement she was picking up from the man, around his pocket-area ... he was already preparing a response for anything she might throw at him, something that she found quite amusing. Even though he didn't seem at all fazed by her movement to approach him, it seemed this man wasn't going to drop his guard completely.

Rippa listened to her for a time as she spoke. She seemed to falter for a moment. As if unsure of how to answer. Which he found to be slightly odd. After all not many people falter while introducing themselves. It wasn't as if he had access to any official records anyway. So unless she was famous there was almost no point in hesitating to introduce herself. Unless, perhaps she wasn't faltering on her own accord. The way she faltered suggested she had not expected to be talking to him alone. That use of and, It was discomforting. He suspected it meant she wasn't alone. As if she had an accomplice or a guard of some sort perhaps? If that was the case he was at more then just a simple disadvantage. If things turned hostile then she was an accomplished taijutsu and possibly ninjutsu user and now there was the possibility she was not alone. And who knew how many accomplices she had or their attentions. The back of his neck felt tingly and he was suddenly hypersensitive of his surroundings. Every breeze through the tree's and approaching adversary and every shuffle in the grass a hidden ambush. If this turned hostile he would not have the comfort of holding back. He had left himself too open for that.

Still she continued on. Her child like voice ringing him back to directing nearly his full attention back to her. So they were just innocently chasing the girl? For exercise? He doubted that. While it was a possibility that they were pursuing her because it was their job as guards the abuse she had put them through most would leave a job for. That and the one had been after him with a rather painful intent with some flashy lightning jutsu. No conversation or warning. Unless they suspected him of being a kidnapper or assassin. And even then they would not have continued to try and use jutsu on the girl. But the way she talked in third person made him wonder if she knew what they were up to either. It was then that she raised her finger and pointed at him. Her hands clasped in the shape of a gun. His chakra instinctively surged through him before he recalled how the jutsu had effected the man before. He had witnessed it already. The man had not been impacted but suffered more from a lack of balance and motor functions then anything. If she intended to use the same jutsu he could heal himself out of it. His feet spread for better balance in an instant and his blue eyes squinted as if preparing for what was to come. He already had the hand signs done for the wall so if he felt dizzy or ill suddenly he could just shove the chakra forth and put the wall between them. That should be enough to heal himself and then move. If it came to that anyway. Instead nothing happened. They just stood there. For a moment he waited before letting out a breath he was holding in a sigh. Before his blue eyes focused on her again.

"You could scare someone pointing a possible jutsu at them. I noticed you didn't ask any more questions."

Mikage

Mikage

D-rank
Lilac eyes were fixated on the man before her, awaiting his reaction, waiting to see if he would move to defend himself against an attack that would not come - but nothing. She was once again met with a disappointing reaction. How utterly boring. She had imagined something more exciting. A counterattack, or some sort of defensive measure. She had already gotten herself into a fight already, but those men could hardly count. Not when they were so slow, so predictable, and so easy to take down. Pathetic, really. Mikage had hoped that the man before her would put up a struggle worth her time, after seeing how he appeared to be toying with one of her pursuers, not having much trouble taking him down. Of course, being a ronin meant initiating a little fight with someone could lead to disastrous consequences. Being that she wasn't from his village, he could easily make use of that fact and label her as an enemy to Konoha, leaving her to fend against more enemies than she would be able to take on. As concerning a factor as that was, Mikage herself couldn't bring herself to acknowledge the danger it posed to her life - even if she did acknowledge it, it only added to the thrill, encouraging her to initiate more conflicts.

His comment after realizing that her 'attack' was simply a bluff made her stick her tongue out at him. Playfully, childishly. "Well, mister asked for it ~ So it wouldn't be wrong for Mikage to demonstrate it, right? Mikage also wanted to see what it would do at close-range."Waving the makeshift 'gun' around randomly, she would eventually release her clasped hands, the grin slipping off her face as she turned her full attention back to Rippā. "But that was boring. Mikage doesn't want to be in a game that's not fun. Asking questions is no fun." And that was it. She had declared her disinterest, and unless something phenomenal happened right then and there, her focus was now gone, mind seeking something else to entertain herself with. That was likely a reason why Mikage couldn't make any friends. There are several factors, the first being that she wasn't all that normal in terms of mental health, another being that she was constantly travelling, never staying in one place long enough to make lasting relationships. But the fact that she was quick to lose interest was another. Conversations could end as abruptly as they start. More often than not, people found themselves talking to thin air, as the young kunoichi would have already wandered away while they were still talking.

And, as predicted, her mind was already wandering, as was her body. She would make a half turn, brows furrowed as she realized she had forgotten something important back at the Kotone house. That's right, she had left her stuffed rabbit sitting on the stone fence when she went to provoke some of the guards to come after her. "Ah, bunny …" A soft murmur would leave her lips - whether she was aware that she had said it out loud or not was unclear, but she was definitely thinking hard on her options. Her fingers would be twisting around each other lightly behind her back as she would begin walking away from Rippā. Going into town to buy a new one wouldn't be much of a problem, but the idea of going back and sending a second party after her sounded like fun. Never had she tried doubling back for a second round right after the first. There's always a time to try new things. Should the man not try to stop her, she would head back into the darkness of the forest, not at all conscious of exactly what time it was. Not that it mattered. She slept only when she felt sleepy, and the adrenaline rush from the chase - although faded - left her wide awake, and ready for more. Only after she once again entered among the trees would she remember about the man she had only just had a brief conversation with.

"Bye bye, Mister Doctor who uses blood!"

Rippa

Rippa

D-rank
Rippa watched the girl cautiously. He could not help but to feel her spirit was incredibly wild in nature. He wasn't sure what to do with it. All of his dealings up until that point had been based on some form of intellect or at least predictable as human nature had a tendency to be. But this encounter was a whole new kind of beast. And he didn't think it could be tamed. But that also wasn't in his nature. To be perfectly honest his nature was to let things of innocence remain so. And while he knew she could hurt people he wasn't so sure she would target people meaninglessly. Or that he had the power to stop her. Not yet anyway. And how could he know? Looking into her eyes he swore that his instincts were telling him that sanity wasn't a part of her day to day business. No, in fact he suspected something had broken her at an early age. Not that she of any considerable age now but he didn't think this was a new occurrence for her. Something in him believed children were born pure and events in their life changed them in some way or another.

He felt tension in his body as he watched her walk away. He wanted to help her but he only knew of how to heal the body. And he suspected her mind and spirit were the damaged parts of her. His body was rooted to the spot as if held there by an unseen force. So much of him wanted to help her in any way he could but he could not move. He didn't understand why. He didn't understand what could keep him from doing as any good person should. Then he felt it. He was trembling. He blinked and looked down as for the first time he noticed the ever so slight trembling in his body. Fear. That was what held him there. He had known that feeling before but it was towards his own blood rage. He feared her because so like his blood rage he felt she was unpredictable. He felt like if he pushed the wrong way that lives would be ended. Not just a fear of failing to help her but that his very actions might lead to the downfall of some one innocent. That if he pushed into her world some one would end up dead and it would be his fault. Or at least partially so.

It took him some time but eventually after she had been gone for a while he turned and walked the opposite direction. He didn't know if choosing to distance himself from it would save anyone but he also couldn't bring himself to do what must be done in the worst case scenario. If she did try and kill an innocent he knew he would be unable to truly attempt to stop her. He would not be able to land that final blow without hating himself. And forgiveness did not come easily within ones self when one had a conscious like Rippa did. It would haunt him for some time. For now all he could do was return home and hope for not just his sake but the sake of others that she was not the wild animal he had seen in her eyes. That he was wrong and somehow she was the innocent girl she appeared to be at first. He entered the village as heavy feet carried him home and he shook his head. He was just walking away from a problem but at the same time preventing it from escalating. He needed time to think. He needed to be able to muster his willpower in order to be able to make such a decision if the time came. But for now he hoped fate would not have that down his path to walk.
